“Takfiri terrorism which is unfortunately provided with financial and informational support by certain regional states is a great danger threatening the Islamic nations and states,” Shamkhani said on Saturday, adding that the nasty phenomenon can be coped with only through regional cooperation and adoption of joint measures.
He made the remarks in a message to his Afghan counterpart, in which he vehemently condemned the latest terrorist attacks in Afghanistan’s Kabul and Ghor. He also extended condolences to the families of the victims of the two separate attacks.
Shamkhani further noted that any cultural fight against the root beliefs and thoughts nurturing ISIS should be accompanied with security military measures and “the religious figures of the Muslim world, particularly those in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Afghanistan, can play a key role in this regard.”
He then expressed the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to send humanitarian aid to Afghanistan to help those wounded in the deadly attacks.
At least 72 civilians including children were killed in the attacks on two Shiite mosques in Kabul and the central province of Ghor. The attacks took place on Friday. Nearly 50 others were wounded.
