Armenian-Iranians celebrate Christmas, Baptism of Jesus

Armenian-Iranians, who follow the Christian faith, have participated in celebrations to mark Christmas and the Baptism of Jesus.

Jubilant participants marked the occasion at Saint Sarkis Cathedral and the Church of Saint Gregor the Illuminator in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Under Iran’s Constitution, Christian Iranians, who are officially recognized as religious minoritues, are entitled to similar citizenship rights as other Iranians.

Christian Iranians in the Islamic Republic of Iran can hold events marking their religious occasions, and vote to elect representatives in the Iranian Parliament.
