Iran leaves COP 28 summit in protest against Israel’s participation 

The delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian, voiced objections to the presence of Israeli officials at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai aaqqon Friday and left as a form of protest. 

Before attending thq had been informed about the absence of the Israeli ofqqqqqficials. However, upon learning about their participation, they chose to exit the conference.

As the Iranian energy minister departed the conference, he expressed that approximately 150 country leaders had been invited to COP 28, and it was anticipated that a significant number, including officials from the Zionist regime, would not attend.

He emphasized that Iran’s delegation aimed to leverage the Dubai-hosted conference to highlight the Gaza situation, engage with various countries’ authorities and delegations, and advocate for the oppressed Palestinian nation.

Mehrabian asserted that Iran believed the Israeli delegation’s presence contradicted the conference’s stated objectives.

Also Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in a Thursday phone talk with his Emirati counterpart, had objected to the presence of the Israeli delegation, given its ongoing carnage in Gaza that has left over 15,000 Palestinians dead.
