Acting FM: Iran wants EU pressure against Israel

Ali Bagheri and Josef Borrell held talks over the consequences of Israel’s recent terror attack that killed Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Palestinian movement Hamas political bureau in Tehran.

The two sides also discussed the political and security implications of this heinous crime in violation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s national security.

Bagheri stressed that by killing Haniyeh, the Zionist regime violated Iran’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and at the same time jeopardized regional and international peace and stability.

He said that Iran will definitely exercise its inalienable right to punish the criminal gang ruling Tel Aviv.

The Iranian acting foreign minister also spoke about the UN Security Council emergency meeting that was held at the request of the Islamic Republic of Iran and deplored the move by some European countries alongside the US to prevent the condemnation of the assassination of Haniyeh by the top UN body.

Bagheri underlined that this action by those European countries and their silence regarding the Zionist regime’s war-mongering in Yemen and Lebanon has emboldened Tel Aviv to continue its acts of aggression, which will lead to jeopardizing peace and stability in the region.

EU Foreign Policy Chief Josef Borrell for his part agreed that Iran has the right to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Borrell at the same time, expressed concern over the rising tension and the possibility of a full-fledged war in the region and its implications for regional nations.

Jordan, Algeria condemn Israel assassination of Haniyeh, breach of Iran territorial integrity

Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, in a phone conversation with Ali Bagheri Kani, the Acting Iranian Foreign Minister, underlined the Algerian government and people’s stance, strongly denouncing the Zionist regime’s crime of assassinating Haniyeh in Iranian territory.

He also denounced the Israeli regime’s move in breaching the Islamic Republic of Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Bagheri, in turn underscored that the Zionist regime has crossed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s red line by assassinating Haniyeh inside Iran, warning Tehran will definitely use its legitimate and inherent right to decisively and effectively punish the criminal Zionists.

Meanwhile Iran’s Bagheri spoke to Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman al-Safadi, where the two sides exchanged views on the repercussions of the terrorist move by the Zionist regime to martyr Haniyeh.

The Iranian diplomat stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran will certainly act according to law and justice against the notorious and criminal Zionist regime without any compromise.

The top Algerian and Jordanian diplomats also supported Iran’s initiative regarding the holding of an emergency meeting of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC).

Haniyeh and a member of his security team were killed in a strike on their residence in Tehran on Wednesday morning.

A funeral procession was held for the deceased on Thursday, with the Iranian Leader Ayatollah Khamenei having prayed over the body of the Hamas leader.

The body of Haniyeh was taken to Qatar where he will rest for good.

Tehran’s Tabiat Bridge turns red as a symbol of revenge for Hamas leader’s assassination

Tabiat Bridge, the largest non-vehicular bridge in Iran, turned red on Thursday night, one day after the assassination of the Hamas leader in Tehran.

Meanwhile the Office for the Preservation and Publication of the Works of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, also released a poster symbolizing the blood vengeance for Haniyeh.

This poster refers to part of Ayatollah Khamenei’s message regarding the necessity of avenging Haniyeh’s blood.

In that message, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the criminal and terrorist Zionist regime martyred our dear guest, Haniyeh, in our home and caused us grief, but also paved the way for severe punishment for itself… In this bitter and difficult incident that happened within the territory of the Islamic Republic, we consider it our duty to avenge his martyrdom.

Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were assassinated in an attack on his residence in Tehran in the early hours of Wednesday.

Hamas Ismail Haniyeh

Ali Bagheri emphasized the terrorist act of the Zionist regime in killing Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, in addition to violating the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has endangered regional and international peace and stability.

Israel at ‘very high level of readiness’ for retaliation: Netanyahu

Benjamin Netanyahu

“We will exact a very heavy price for any act of aggression against us from any arena,” he wrote on X.

Earlier, Secretary General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah said the war with Israel has “entered a new phase” as he addressed crowds of supporters who had gathered for the funeral of Fuad Shukr, the group’s senior commander who was killed in an Israeli strike in Beirut.

The raid that killed Shukr targeted the Haret Hreik neighbourhood, a densely populated area in Beirut’s Southern suburbs of Dahiyeh on Saturday. Three women and two children were also killed and dozens were injured, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.

It was followed by another attack early on Wednesday in Tehran, which killed Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, further stoking fears of a joint response between Iran and its allied groups and a possible all-out war in the region.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned Israel of a harsh and stinging response from the forces of the Axis of Resistance, particularly Iran, in retaliation for the assassination of Haniyeh.

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri has also vowed that Israel will regret the assassination of Haniyeh, stating that the method of retaliation is under review.

Sources say Turkey blocked NATO-Israel cooperation over Gaza war

Erdogan

Israel carries the status of NATO partner and has fostered close relations with the military alliance and some of its members, notably its biggest ally the United States.

Prior to Israel’s offensive in Gaza, NATO member Turkey had been working to mend its long-strained ties with Israel.

Since then, Ankara has been fiercely critical of Israel’s operation in the besieged strip, which it says amounts to a genocide, and has halted all bilateral trade. It has also slammed many Western allies for their support of Israel.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the sources said Turkey had vetoed all NATO engagement with Israel since October, including joint meetings and exercises, viewing Israel’s “massacre” of Palestinians in Gaza as a violation of NATO’s founding principles.

The sources added Turkey would maintain this block and not allow Israel to continue or advance its interaction with NATO until there was an end to the conflict, as it believes Israel’s actions in Gaza violate international law and universal human rights.

After a NATO summit in Washington in July, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said it was not possible for NATO to continue its partnership with the Israeli administration.

Earlier this week, Israel’s foreign minister urged the alliance to expel Turkey after Erdogan appeared to threaten to enter Israel, as it had Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh in the past.

Hezbollah leader vows response to Israeli assassination of top military commander

Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah

“The resistance’s response to the assassination of commander Fuad Shukr is settled and there is no discussion about it,” the secretary-general of Hezbollah said Thursday, speaking at the funeral of the slain commander.

“Several countries have asked Hezbollah not to respond to the Israeli strike on Beirut’s suburbs. We are before a major battle and we have entered a new phase that exceeds the issue of support fronts,” he added.

He stressed that Shukur’s assassination will increase the resolve, determination and willpower of Hezbollah.

Nasrallah said Israel deliberately carried out a rocket attack that killed a dozen people in the occupied Golan Heights in order to make up an excuse for the assassination of resistance commanders.

“The Zionist enemy accused Hezbollah of being behind the strike on the town of Majdal Shams without providing any evidence. Our internal investigation determined that we had nothing to do with what happened there,” Nasrallah stated.

“The motive behind the Majdal al-Shams rocket strike was to pit the Druze community in the occupied Golan Heights against local Shia Muslims. Hezbollah would have acknowledged responsibility had it committed a mistake that led to the death of civilians.”

Nasrallah stated that Israeli authorities rushed to pin the blame for the Majdal Shams attack on Hezbollah as soon as they found out that the majority of the fatalities were children.

“We have a great deal of evidence that shows missiles launched by Israeli systems have frequently hit the city of Acre and other areas in the occupied territories,” he added.

The Hezbollah chief denounces the strike in Beirut that killed Shukr as “an act of aggression and not simply an assassination”.

“The aggression targeted civilian and not military buildings. Days before the attack, the Israeli enemy alleged that its action would be in reprisal for the Majdal Shams incident. We do not accept such assertion.”

“We are paying the price of our support for Gaza and the Palestinian cause. This is not something new and we accept such a cost,” he continued.

Nasrallah also emphasized that Iran will not remain idle after the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Hamas resistance movement, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran.

“Iran considers that its sovereignty, image and honor have been encroached on, because Haniyeh was its guest. I tell the Israelis that they can laugh a little now because they will cry a lot later.”

“Do they imagine that they can kill Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and still expect Iran to stand idly by?” the Hezbollah chief stated.

Iran military commanders emphasize strong response regarding assassination of Hamas leader

Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, said on Thursday that the resistance front will give the necessary response to the Zionist crime of assassinating Ismail Haniyeh.

General Mousavi referred to Haniyeh as one of the most prominent resistance leaders and emphasized that his loss is a great tragedy.

Meanwhile Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, also commented on the sidelines of Haniyeh’s funeral in Tehran regarding Iran’s reaction and retaliation for the martyrdom of the Hamas Political Bureau Chief, stating: “This will definitely happen.”

General Bagheri stressed that various actions must be taken and that the Zionists will certainly regret it.

Haniyeh, along with one of his bodyguards, was assassinated on Wednesday at his residence in Tehran. A funeral procession was held for the deceased in Tehran on Thursday.

Iran says the Israeli regime has breached its territorial integrity and national sovereignty by killing Haniyeh as he was a guest of the Islamic Republic.

Pezeshkian: Iran will continue to support resistance with firmer determination

Hamas Ismail Haniyeh

Massoud Pezeshkian had a phone conversation with Khalil al-Hayya, the deputy chief of Hamas’ political bureau in the Gaza Strip, who was accompanying the assassinated Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran for the new Iranian president’s inauguration ceremony.

He said, “The Iranian Leadership, nation and government will not give up an iota of its support for the resistant and oppressed Palestinian people, and will continue to support the axis of resistance, especially the people of Palestine and the oppressed people of Gaza with the stronger determination.”

Haniyeh and his security guard were slain in an Israeli air strike which prompted Iranian officials to issue stern warnings that their blood would be avenged.

Pezeshkian said the loss is more tragic as Haniyeh was Iran’s guest and was targeted inside the Iranian territory.

He added the Israeli regime resorts to assassination as it has failed in all its criminal policies, and seeks to get out of the dead end.

Meanwhile, al-Hayya appreciated the Iranian president’s message of condolences and Iran’s supportive stance for the resistance, noting, “The martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran was Almighty God’s wisdom and determination to once again show that members of the resistance axis are interwoven.”
