President Rouhani Urges Iran-Turkey Regional Cooperation

“Iran and Turkey have common objectives and interests, and should strengthen the pillars of peace and stability in the region through their cooperation and coordination and by focusing on the fight against terrorism as the common enemy,” Rouhani said at the meeting.

“Today, the establishment of Muslim unity and solidarity among Muslims is a great mission and duty on the shoulders of everyone,” the Iranian president noted.

He further pointed to the two countries as brotherly neighbors with lots of religious and cultural commonalities, saying, “Iran and Turkey, as two important neighboring countries, can take constructive and effective steps in establishing unity in the Islamic world.”

President Rouhani went on to say that the necessity for the fight against terrorism is a common danger and threat for all nations, but at the same time ruled out the interference of foreign countries, which “are not seeking to resolve regional problems fundamentally, and just pursue their own interests.”

Terrorism is the common enemy of Iran and Turkey, so both should work together to eradicate it: Rouhani

“We believe regional problems should be settled by regional countries and nations,” Rouhani stressed, reiterating that undoubtedly the cooperation between Iran and Turkey will play a constructive role in establishing sustainable peace in the region.

Iran and Turkey are on the same page when it comes to respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries or the fact that the fate of any country should be decided by its own people, Rouhani said, adding that both Iran and Turkey agree that the bloodshed in Syria should be ceased and the displaced people should receive aid and rescue.

Iran’s President: Tehran and Ankara should take full advantage of today’s opportunity to expand their ties in line with the two countries’ interests

“Through their common views in such issues, Tehran and Ankara can work together and take serious and beneficial steps to settle regional problems step by step,” he added.

Regional Issues Have No Negative Impact on Iran-Turkey Bilateral Ties

The Iranian president further noted that certain problems in the Middle East have not at all soured the bilateral ties between Iran and Turkey, adding, “There is no barrier to the development of the two countries’ ties.”

“Tehran and Ankara have numerous capacities for increasing expansion of their ties in different sectors, particularly in transport, energy, trade, joint ventures, tourism, science, and technology, and we are ready to start mutual cooperation in all of these fields,” he asserted.

Davutoglu, for his part, expressed Ankara’s resolve to open a new chapter in its relations with Tehran, saying, “Today, Turkey is more than ever willing to enhance its brotherly cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields.”

President Rouhani: Iran and Turkey can take constructive and effective steps in establishing unity in the Muslim world

The Turkish PM, who arrived in Tehran on Friday night at the head of a trade delegation, noted that he has brought the largest investment sector and industrialists of Turkey to Tehran.

“Iran and Turkey complement each other, and enjoy great capacities and potentials for promotion of the level of their cooperation,” he added.

Turkey, Iran Should Join Hands in Fight against Barbaric Terrorists

Davutoglu also highlighted the need for regional cooperation between Iran and Turkey and the necessity for the fight against terrorism.

“On regional issues, we should join hands and stand against the barbaric methods of terrorist groups,” he noted, reiterating that Ankara is ready to have full cooperation with the Islamic Republic in the fight against terrorist groups in the region.

He also emphasized that respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity, adopting non-interventionist policies, and letting the country’s nation to decide for their future are the principles of Turkey’s foreign policy.

Allies of Israel dub Hezbollah terrorist: IRGC cmdr.

“Those who have created a crisis in Syria and stood by the Zionists as their allies in different wars name Lebanon’s Hezbollah [a] terrorist [organization],” senior adviser to Leader’s representative to the IRGC, Brigadier General Yadollah Javani, said on Saturday.

On Wednesday, the six-nation [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council issued a statement labeling Hezbollah a terrorist organization. The bloc, comprising Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait, however, did not provide any evidence for its allegations.

Javani said the Arab bloc’s groundless accusation against the resistance group is a self-harming act and a strategic mistake that would discredit the council.

He emphasized that Hezbollah is a popular movement which has been formed to confront the Israeli regime, defend Lebanon’s territorial integrity and protect rights of Muslim nations.

The IRGC commander said the [P]GCC move to declare Hezbollah a terrorist body clearly shows that the Arab bloc is following in the footsteps of the Zionists, adding that their act is in line with fulfilling the demands of the United States.

“The countries which have carried out this measure pay no heed to rights of Muslims, the interests of the Muslim world and even [those of] Arab states. Their measures are in line with responding to requests of the Americans and the Zionists,” Javani pointed out.

He said Hezbollah is a distinguished movement in the Muslim world which has a special position among Muslims and Arab nations, adding that some countries immediately reacted to the bloc’s move.

The decision by the [P]GCC to blacklist Hezbollah has met opposition and criticism.

Algeria refused to classify the movement as a terrorist organization. Palestinian resistance movement, Islamic Jihad, also praised Hezbollah as a resistance movement which has a history in the struggle against the Zionist entity as well as in supporting the Palestinian cause. Iran, Syria and Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement have also slammed the move by the [P]GCC.

The move by the six-nation Arab bloc came days after Riyadh halted USD 4bn in aid to Lebanese security forces. The decision came following recent victories by the Syrian army, backed by Hezbollah fighters, against the Takfiri militants fighting to topple the Damascus government.

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah has said the Saudi regime seeks to instigate “strife” between Shias and Sunnis in the region, urging the Lebanese not to be intimidated by threats posed by Riyadh and Tel Aviv.

VP Stresses Significance of Iran-Turkey Ties for Region

Speaking at a joint press conference with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Tehran, Jahangiri hailed the “good and influential” political relations between the two neighbors.

“In a situation… that terrorist groups have upset the region’s security and stability, relations between the two countries (Iran and Turkey) can have great influence on achieving stability,” the Iranian official noted.

He also urged the need for bridging differences between the two Muslim neighbors for the sake of regional stability.

“Beside the many commonalities, the two countries may have differing views on some issues, but we can steer the region towards stability by managing the differences,” Jahangiri pointed out.

He then hailed close cooperation between Tehran and Ankara in different fields, particularly since the Justice and Development Party (AKP) took the helm in Turkey.

Turkish Prime Minister Davutoglu arrived in Tehran on Friday evening for talks with Iranian officials on various issues, including ways to enhance bilateral relations.

Experts consider the trip as highly significant as another round of Syria peace negotiations are set to begin in Geneva on March 9, which could offer the neighbors an opportunity to discuss their wildly different views on the five-year-old crisis in Syria.

Despite their differences, Turkey and Iran have largely maintained cordial diplomatic relations.

4th Mother-Child Station Opens in Tehran Subway

Tehran’s subway is overcrowded, making it hard for women with children to travel. Therefor, Tehran mayor has repeatedly stressed the need for establishment of such stations where mothers can rest for a while or do their children’s stuff. The number of these stations is rapidly rising in subway stations.

Denmark Ready to Promote Ties with Iran in Post-Sanctions Era

A few days ago in a ceremony held in Tehran, Denmark’s Ambassador to Iran Danny Annan underlined the need for expansion of Tehran-Copenhagen relations in the wake of the recent nuclear agreement between Tehran and world powers (known as JCPOA), which took effect on January 16 and terminated all nuclear-related anti-Iran sanctions.

“In the post-JCPOA era, Tehran and Copenhagen can enhance their mutual interactions in different sectors … and Denmark is ready to promote such cooperation with Iran,” Annan said earlier this week, according to a report by Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA).

Former Iranian Ambassador to Denmark Hamid Bayat also noted that when the doors are opened for Iran-Europe enhanced ties, “we will witness the willingness of Danish companies for their presence in Iranian markets.”

Denmark’s Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen made an official visit to Iran in early January at the head of delegation including the representatives of 60 trade companies, Bayat said, adding that the visit marked the beginning of renewed ties between the two countries.

When Iran was under sanctions and financial transactions were impossible, a Danish pharmaceutical company sold drugs to Iran and said it will collect the money once the sanctions are lifted.

Morteza Damanpak Jami, Deputy for Research at the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Center for International Research and Education, and also a former Iranian ambassador to Copenhagen, highlighted the good cooperation of Danish companies with Iran, even when Tehran was under international sanctions.

“A reputable Danish pharmaceutical company, though it could not receive money from Iran because of sanctions, exported the drugs Iran needed, and said it would collect the money once the sanctions are lifted,” he said.

Photos of Iranian people in the 1930s taken by Danish engineers on display in Tehran

The Iranian and Danish officials made the remarks on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition entitled as “Iranian Historical Photos from the View of Danish Photographers”.

The exhibition was held in one of the buildings of Iranian foreign ministry to display historical photographs of Iran taken by Danish photographers.

Pointing to the exhibition, Bayat noted that the photos displayed in the firm are significant in the sense that camera was rare back in those years in Iran and was not accessible for ordinary people.

In those days, Danish engineers not only photographed the construction project of Iran’s south-north railroad in 1933, but also took pictures of people’s lives, the Iranian ex-envoy said.

This is why these pictures are important to us both historically and socially, he went on to say, thanking Denmark and the Danish company that organized the photo exhibition.

Thomas Mayer, an official with the Danish company that organized the exhibition, was also attending the exhibition. He was asked about the reason for which they keep these photos in spite of the high expenses of keeping them, and said that the company implements several projects in different countries and archives and keeps the photos and documents of some important projects.

Excavations show that bread was baked in Iran for the first time in history

The Danish envoy to Iran Annan elsewhere in his remarks noted that the photo exhibition is just one of the cultural fields in which Tehran and Copenhagen can promote their bilateral ties.

Besides this photo exhibition, Iranian and Danish archeologists are currently excavating Zagros Mountains in western and central Iran to find that whether the first civilization has been established in this region or not, the Danish ambassador said.

Based on the findings of these excavations, he added, the first traces of baking bread and wheat were found in these regions.

Supreme Leader to lead prayers for late ayatollah Vaez

The funeral ceremony for Ayatollah Tabasi will be held in Mashad tomorrow.

Iran’s Supreme Leader will lead the prayer ceremony for late ayatollah.

Earlier today, Ayatollah Khamenei in a message condoled demise of Ayatollah Vaez Tabasi.

According to the report of Supreme Leader’s Office website on Friday, the supreme Leader wrote in his message that the late ayatollah was a dear brother to him, a devoted disciple for late Imam Khomeini and a hard working servant for the revolution.

He was one of pioneers in Islamic movement, who stayed with the revolution and people to the end of his life, the message said.

The Supreme Leader condoled with family of the late ayatollah, especially his patient spouse and children and wished them patience and tolerance.

The late ayatollah was the Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi which is in charge of holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) and the Supreme Leader’s representative in Razavi, North and South Khorasan provinces, who died at the age of 80 for respiratory problems on Friday morning.

Turkish PM heads for Iran for key talks

Davut-oglu

Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, Davutoglu left for Tehran on Friday for a two-day official visit.

During the premier’s stay in Tehran, Iranian and Turkish officials are slated to discuss regional crises, particularly the five-year-old conflict in Syria. Tehran and Ankara have different views on the war in the Arab country.

Turkey backs militants and insists that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad should not be part of the Arab country’s future. Iran says the decision on Assad’s fate is up to the Syrian people and supports the Syrian army and its allies fighting militants.

Davutoglu’s trip will be the highest level between the two neighboring countries for almost a year after President Recep Tayyib Erdogan paid an official visit to Tehran in April 2015.

Despite their differences, Tehran and Ankara have largely maintained diplomatic relations.

Indonesia Eyes 120,000 bpd of Iran’s Crude

The official told Reuters that Tehran and Jakarta will discuss next week a short-term agreement for 120,000 bpd of Iran’s crude for a refinery in Central Java.

The report added that an Indonesian delegation, led by Oil Minister Sudirman Said, will visit Iran next week to also discuss possible import deals for Iranian Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and oil investments in the Middle East country.

“The price of Iran’s crude is much cheaper … but it can only match the Cilacap refinery,” Indonesia’s OPEC governor Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja told reporters late Thursday.

Iran is also offering five oil and gas blocks for Pertamina to invest in, Prawiraatmadja said.

Last month, Iran loaded its first cargo of oil to Europe since implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

A tanker for France’s Total SA and vessels chartered for Chinese and Spanish companies were loaded at Iran’s southern island of Kharg.

The JCPOA, which took effect on January 16, terminated all nuclear-related sanctions on Iran.
