According to Khabar Online news outlet, Ayatollah Noori Hamedani, commenting on the statement issued by Persian Gulf Cooperation Council against Hezbollah said all member countries of the Council are under domination of the World of Arrogance and if they don’t rely on America and Zionist regime their vigilant nations will topple them.

Meanwhile, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi reacting to terming Hezbollah as terrorist organization by some Arab countries said Hezbollah is the greatest source of pride and honor for Arabs because in absence of Hezbollah the Zionist regime would have made them miserable.

He added that in the Arab history no group is as brave as Hezbollah as this group broke the invincibility myth of Israel.

Iran needs nine atomic power plants in next decade

Stressing that about 8 to 12 percent of the country’s electricity should be generated through atomic power plants, he said there is a great possibility for the construction of two new power plants on the basis of three international models.
As for the construction of new power plants, Kamalvandi said investment of domestic private sector or foreign investment should be used in this regard, adding that in the post-sanction era the issue has been warmly received.
He further remarked that in the post-sanction era a number of foreign meetings have been held and highly satisfactorily proposals have been received with regard to the construction of power plants in accordance with BOO, BOT, IPP and EPCF models which are highly beneficial for the country.
Kamalvandi noted that there is a competition among a number of countries for the construction of new atomic power plants in Iran and this prepare the ground for Iran to select the best options.
Referring to the misinterpretation of some media on the establishment of IAEA office in Iran, he said such an office will not be opened in Iran rather an Iran office will be opened in the Agency itself.

Iran exports 32 tons of heavy water to US

“We have entered the international market of nuclear materials. We have purchased 140 tons of yellow cake from Russia as well as 60 more tons from Kazakhstan,” Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, told a forum at the country’s Foreign Ministry.

“We have also sold about 10 tons of 3.5 percent enriched uranium to Russia. In fact, we have entered the international market of nuclear materials as an exporter.”

Araqchi did not specify when and how the export had been made, but he said it occurred after the implementation of a historic nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 – the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany – in mid-January.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) earlier in January announced that Iran plans to sell as much as 40 tons of its excess heavy water supplies to the US, adding that the landmark move will be made through a third party.

“Six tons of the exported heavy water will be used in nuclear facilities and the rest in American research centers,” Ali Asghar Zarean, a deputy head of the IAEO, had been quoted by the media as saying.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said last August that Iran will begin to commercialize its nuclear technology after the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“We will import yellow cake from abroad and we will export enriched UF6,” President Rouhani told reporters.

Iran and the P5+1 group of countries – the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany – agreed over the JCPOA last July. Based on it, Iran will restrict certain aspects of its nuclear energy activities in return for the removal of certain economic sanctions imposed against the country.

The JCPOA also allows Iran to sell its enriched uranium material – called UF6 – and to buy natural uranium or “yellow cake” in return.

Zarif confers with crown prince of Brunei

Zarif arrived in Brunei capital, Bandar Seri Begawan early Wednesday. He was welcomed at the Brunei International Airport by the country’s high ranking officials.

Foreign minister departed for Brunei after a three-day visit to Singapore to meet with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Member States. He is tightly scheduled for his one-day visit in this rich, tiny island with a population of some 400,000 people.

Zarif is expected to meet with Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Lim Jock Seng, and Minister of Energy and Industry Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar.

A memorandum of understanding is scheduled to be signed between Iran and Brunei as high-ranking Brunei officials have expressed their readiness for mutual cooperation with the Islamic Republic.

Starting his Asian tour on Saturday evening with Indonesia and following it up to Singapore on Monday, Foreign Minister Zarif departed for Brunei on Wednesday and then visits Thailand, New Zealand and Australia as the last legs of his tour.

22 people indicted over Saudi embassy attack: Iran

Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi on Tuesday said that 22 people will soon be sent to court over charges pertaining to damaging the Saudi embassy in Tehran.

The assaults on the embassy took place on January 2 during demonstrations by angry protesters censuring Saudi Arabia’s execution of top opposition cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

Top Iranian officials censured the incident that was followed by Riyadh’s severance of ties with Tehran.

Saudi Arabia executed Nimr along with 46 others, provoking international outrage, widespread condemnation, and a serious escalation of tensions in the region. 

The Shia cleric was arrested in 2012 over charges of instigating unrest and undermining the kingdom’s security, making anti-government speeches and defending political prisoners, all of which he rejected as baseless.

Iran test-fires two ballistic missiles during large-scale drills

The missiles dubbed Qadr-H and Qadr-F were fired on Wednesday during the large-scale drills, codenamed Eqtedar-e-Velayat.

The missiles were fired from East Alborz heights in northern Iran and could hit targets 1,400 kilometers away in Makran Coasts southeast of the country.

Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Division Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh said Qadr-H missile has a range of 1,700 kilometers while Qadr-F missile can destroy targets some 2,000 kilometers away.

Iran’s test-firing of the missiles comes after a US State Department spokesman, Mark Toner, on Tuesday criticized the country’s missile launch, saying Washington planned to bring it before the United Nations Security Council.

Last month, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the Islamic Republic will continue to develop its missile program and that Tehran needs “no permission” to enhance the country’s defense capabilities.

“We have announced that we will not ask permission from anyone to [strengthen] our defense and missile capability,” Zarif said in an interview with Iranian Students’ News Agency, ISNA, on February 28.

The top Iranian diplomat went on to say that the country’s missile program does not breach last July nuclear agreement struck between Tehran and six world powers and that the deal does not ban Iran from boosting its defense capabilities.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and manufactured different types of military equipment.

Iran has repeatedly assured other countries that its military might poses no threat to other states, insisting that its defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.

Commander: Most IRGC Missiles Can Reach Israel

Whoever feels more hostility towards Iran will be naturally more fearful of the country’s military capabilities and achievements, the top general told reporters on Tuesday on the sidelines of an ongoing missile drill staged by the IRGC, codenamed ‘Might of Velayat’.

Since most of the IRGC missiles have the enough range to reach the lands occupied by the Zionist regime of Israel, the Tel Aviv regime has the most degree of concerns, he added.

“Enemies of the Islamic Revolution and security in the region should be in panic about the roar of the IRGC missiles,” Jafari stated.

The commander noted that the launch of various types of missiles in the drill was only a slight indication that the IRGC’s missile silos, scattered all over the country, are fully operational.

He underscored that the country’s missile capabilities have been achieved under sanctions imposed by the foreigners, stressing that Iran’s missiles are fully indigenous.

The message of the missile drills is security for Iran and the neighboring countries, Major General Jafari underlined.

The missile drill has been in progress for a couple of days, but its final stage kicked off on Tuesday in different parts of the country.

According to the IRGC, the exercise is meant to demonstrate Iran’s might and sustainable security in light of unity, convergence, empathy and harmony.

Iranian officials have already made it clear that the country’s military program, including the routine exercises and test of new missiles, will not be hampered by anything, including a recent nuclear deal with the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), which took effect on January 16.
