Iran, FAO Sign Deal to Cooperate on Aquatic Genetic Resources

fish

The agreement was signed between Hassan Salehi, the head of Iran Fisheries Organization, and FAO Representative to Iran Serge Nakouzi during a ceremony in Tehran on Wednesday.

According to the deal, a joint project worth $330 million will be implemented in Mazandaran province, north of Iran, over a two-year period.

The project mainly focuses on increased availability of farmed Rainbow Trout in Iran with the expected impact of improved food security and livelihoods for people, especially those involved in producing, distributing and consuming farmed fish.

Rainbow Trout farming is an ideal option for sustainable use of water resources in mountainous regions of the country due to the fact that both surface and underground waters are suitable for this purpose.

In regions such as Mazandaran and Gilan provinces where income-generating and employment opportunities are scarce, trout farming could help to ensure employment and increase in income of the local communities.

Naghsh-e Jahan Stadium has a capacity of 75,000 and is considered the second largest stadium in Iran after Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

The construction of the original stadium had been started in 1993, and the first phase was inaugurated in 2003. The stadium was in service for nearly five years when it was shut down for renovation and expansion.

The renovation process took near a decade, and finally it was inaugurated today.

People of Isfahan will no longer have to travel dozens of kilometres away from the city to watch the matches of their favourite football team Sepahan FC, which plays its home games in Naghsh-e Jahan.

Iranian Jewish MP Denies Interview with Israeli Radio

Moreh Sedgh

According to a report by Asr-e Iran, as translated by IFP, Moreh Sedgh reacted to the recent rumours about his interview with Israeli radio. He denied the allegations and said, “In my recent trip to France, the correspondent of a French magazine raised a question about the possibility of an unexpected attack of the Zionist regime [Israel] on Iran.”

“I’m pretty sure that the Zionist regime is sane enough to comprehend that attacking Iran is tantamount to the annihilation of Israel,” Moreh Sedgh replied to the question.

His remarks came as Israeli media outlets such as The Times of Israel and Jerusalem Post claim that they have broadcasted his interview in English language. In the meantime, Jerusalem Post is said to have released even the full text of the interview.

Read below the news published on Israeli media outlets about Moreh Sedgh’s alleged interview with Israeli radio:

“Iran is safer than France for the Jews to live in,” Moreh Sedgh stressed in the alleged interview.

He pointed to the fact that Jews can freely practice their religious rituals in Iran and said, “Throughout the history of this country, Jews have never been banned from any cities even the most religious ones.”

He believes that, especially after the nuclear agreement between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries, there is no possibility of war between Iran and Israel. He said, “Iran will not start a war with Israel because they know that any country that starts a war in the Middle East has actually committed a suicide.”

“Iranians are sane enough to avoid war,” Moreh Sedgh stressed.

He noted that he was suspicious about Benjamin Netanyahu’s sanity two or three years ago that he was crazy enough to desire a war.

“In the current situation and after the landmark deal there is a more stable situation in the Middle East and the possibility of war between Iran and Israel has been ruled out,” he added.

Moreh Sedgh pointed to the religious freedom of Jews in Iran and said, “In this country we have our own synagogues, schools, butchers and restaurants.”

“The highest rank that Jews can possess in Iran is a member of Parliament,” he said, adding that, “From among the 25,000 Jews in Iran, one can become a parliamentarian. One seat has been allotted to Jews.”

He described the living conditions for Jews very good in Iran and said, “Jews can reach high echelons of academic and teach in universities.”

Moreh Sedgh stressed that living in Iran is much safer than living in a country such as France where security guards have been deployed in synagogues for the fear of possible attacks on Jews.

“Hostile relations between Iran and Israel has not influenced the living conditions of Jews in Iran,” he said, arguing that, “to Iranian government, Zionism and Judaism are not similar.”

About the legal difficulties that religious minorities such as Jews are facing in Iran, Moreh Sedgh said, “Things are getting ameliorated, for example, with the fatwa of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei the difference between the Diah (blood money) of Muslims and non-Muslims was resolved in the Iranian judicial system.

He referred to the controversial subject of Holocaust and said, “It is a historical fact and denying it is like denying the existence of sun.”

“During the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, we expressed our criticism against his denial of Holocaust,” Moreh Sedgh said, adding that, “we even wrote him a letter and emphasized that his position against Holocaust is unacceptable to Jews and in conflict with the interests of the Iranian people.”

Saudi Arabia Deviated from True Islam, Acting against Islamic Teachings

Anna Stamou

According to a report by IRNA, as translated by IFP, Anna Stamou, the press officer and spokeswoman of the Muslim Association of Greece, said on Wednesday, November 2, that Saudi rulers have moved away from Islam since a long time ago, and are acting against the teachings of Islam.

She referred to the ban imposed by Al Saud regime on women’s driving, and said such a ban is only exercised by Saudi Arabia, and no Muslim country has prohibited its women from driving.

“I don’t know based on which Islamic teaching they prevent women from driving,” she added.

“Another case of Saudi rulers’ deviation from Islamic teachings is that Muslim women are not allowed to benefit from their legal inheritance, while in Islam women should also receive inheritance.”

“Freedom of speech and thought are among the teachings of Islam, but people in Saudi Arabia are deprived of the right to express their views. Saudi citizens are not allowed to play a role in their destiny,” she added.

She further pointed to the West’s efforts to spread Islamophobia, and said that Saudi rulers are adding fuel to such efforts by depriving their citizens of their basic rights, while Islam is the religion of peace and peaceful coexistence of followers of all religions.

“Islam has always encouraged its followers to having peaceful coexistence with other human beings, and has introduced religious minorities in Islamic countries as the integrated part of Muslim countries’ citizens with equal rights,” Stamou noted.

Slovenia’s Iran Embassy to Reopen during Presidential Visit

zarif

In addition to reopening of Slovenia’s embassy, which was closed in 2013 as part of general austerity policies, President Pahor will sign several agreements with Iran during his visit to Tehran, Slovenian Deputy Foreign Minister Darja Bavdaz Kuret said at a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, held in Tehran on Wednesday.

The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments, with Foreign Minister Zarif calling for the expansion of relations and closer interaction between Tehran and Ljubljana.

In March 2013, in response to the difficult financial and economic situation in Slovenia, the European country’s government decided to shrink its diplomatic network as part of general austerity policies.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani recently called for attempts to enhance relations between Tehran and Ljubljana in light of the removal of anti-Iran sanctions under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

US Presidential Candidates’ Remarks Enough to Disgrace Washington: Iran’s Leader

Leader

“These days, the two candidates [Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton] are disclosing facts and disasters from inside the US that I repeatedly talked about, but some didn’t believe me, or didn’t want to believe,” Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in a Thursday meeting with a group of Iranian students in Tehran.

According to a report by the Leader’s official website, Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say that the remarks made by the two presidential candidates indicate the devastation of human values in the US.

The Leader referred to the ethical scandals of US politicians and statesmen as one of the major problems of the American society, and added, “The statements made by these two candidates in recent weeks about the ongoing unethical issues – which don’t seem to be groundless – are enough to disgrace the US.”

Leader

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei warned that a compromise with the US will not resolve Iran’s problems as Washington has not set aside its hostilities towards the Iranian nation.

The Leader warned that the Americans and certain parties seek to persuade the Iranian society that compromise with Washington would settle the country’s issues, Press TV reported.

“This mindset, which is very dangerous, says ‘if we compromise with the United States, all of the country’s problems will be resolved’,” said Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Leader made the remarks as Iran prepares to commemorate on Friday the anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the US embassy by Iranian students in the capital, Tehran.

The 13th day of the Iranian calendar month of Aban, which falls on November 3 this year, is known as the Student Day in Iran, marking National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance.

On this day, a group of Iranian university students took over the US embassy, which they believed had turned into a center of espionage aimed at overthrowing the Islamic Republic in Iran following the country’s Islamic Revolution earlier in 1979.

Ayatollah Khamenei further highlighted US enmities and plots against the Iranian nation over the past three decades, saying Washington has proved it never abides by its promises.

The Leader recalled his numerous warnings over the US role during the process of nuclear negotiations with Iran, saying “currently, it is not only me saying that they break their promises, but Iranian authorities, and even the nuclear negotiators themselves, speak of the US breaching its pledges.”

Washington’s main goal is to hinder the Iranian nation’s progress, warned Ayatollah Khamenei, adding that the US has never stopped its hostilities towards the Islamic Republic.

“How would a government, which has never stopped its hostilities towards the Iranian nation even for a single second, solve the country’s issues,” asked the Leader.

The 1979 takeover of the US embassy by Iranian students was a “natural response” to Washington’s hostile policies towards the nation.

British Politicians Terrified of Making Anti-Israeli Comments

82287896-71132030

In an interview with IRNA in London, and commenting on the current situation in Palestine, Tonge said there are two sides to the Palestinian conflict.

First is that Israel seeks to build new towns in the West Bank and Palestinian people are being thrown out of their lands in areas which is not supposed to be controlled by Israel.

Israeli settlers are moving into houses in those townships and have their own libraries and swimming pools and they have built roads connecting to these places which the Palestinians cannot use and are stuck in their villages in the West Bank.

So the situation in the West Bank described by one Israeli as Swiss cheese that is full of holes. The holes are where the Palestinians live and the cheesy bits are the settlements and the road connecting them.

In Gaza, when Hamas won the free and fair monitored elections in 2006, the Quartet and Israel refused to accept them as winners, refused to let them form a government and so they fled into Gaza and since 2006 Gaza has been blocked almost completely by Israel.

The only thing which Israel complains about is that they try very hard to resist and fire rockets over a very uninhabited part of Israel which gives Israel excuse to bomb them.

On British government explicit support for Israel, Tonge said Israel has an extremely privileged position in Britain.

Even if you look at the American politics, you will see that AIPAC controls Democrats and Republicans and there is no question about this.

They have huge control over the politicians in America and for a similar but less reason they have huge control over the politicians in this country.

Because they do foster relation with political parties, they take MPs of all parties on trips to Israel to show them what a beautiful country it is and to mask what is really going on in the occupied territories where they don’t take them.

There is a sort of conspiracy between America, Britain and Israel and Israel holds most of the cards. When anyone starts criticizing them, they start talking about Holocaust and after that they start to talk about anti-Semitism.

Currently in this country there is an absolute purge going on so that everyone is terrified of making any comments about the Israeli government lest they’ll be accused of anti-Semitism.

On her own story of being suspended because of hosting a so-called anti-Semitic event, the Baroness said, ‘Currently, we are beginning a lead up to commemorating the Balfour Declaration which was a declaration from British politician in 1917 that the Jews should have a home in Palestine – which we were running Palestine.

We also said in this declaration that this is provided that there was no harm to the human right or political right of the indigenous people there.

What has happened of course is that the state of Israel was created and pronounced in 1948 and Palestine was never been recognized.

We had a meeting last week to launch the commemoration of the Balfour campaign.
This meeting was run by the Palestine Return Centre which is a Charity here campaigning for the return of the Palestinian refugees

We had three very good speakers and I was chairing the meeting. It was a very hot packed place and people very well attended. Towards the end of the meeting, a young Rabbi from Neturei Karta, a sect who do not like Israel and Zionism, got up and was saying something which I was not very much catching but did not want to offend him, but towards the end he mentioned the word Boycott and because I wanted to move on to the next speakers, I said I would like anyone to say anything about BDS campaign.

The next morning I was told that I was suspended by my party because of anti-Semitic remarks.

Someone had Youtubed the sound of the man who was speaking and amongst the things he said, he was going on about Hitler and Holocaust and because I didn’t shut him up earlier and tell him that was nonsense, I was accused of being anti-Semitic.

I wish we could have a proper debate about the difference between anti-Semitism and Anti-Zionism; because no one wants to be anti-Semitic.

I am not anti-Semitic. What I campaign against is the action of the Israeli government and this is what I have got into trouble about.

I think the Israeli government is wrong, they are breaking international law and they are abusing the human rights of the Palestinian people. This is wrong and we should not be condoning it.’

To a question about the possibility of prosecuting Israel, Tonge said there was a call after the attack on Gaza that they have committed crimes. But with Israel everything gets suppressed and put on one side.

It is alleged that war crimes occurred and some pretty nasty weapons where tested on Gaza. Because of the influence that they have and, the fact that America will always block anything that goes on, they will always be on Israel’s side. Therefore, we never get anywhere.

Saudi Arabia Steered By Raw, Adventurous Youths: Rafsanjani

Rafsanjani

According to a report by Entekhab, as translated by IFP, Ayatollah Rafsanjani had a meeting with Cypriot Parliament Speaker Demetris Syllouris.

During the meeting held in Tehran, the Iranian cleric expressed concerns about the Saudis’ atrocities in Yemen.

In response to a question about possible mediation by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation between Tehran and Riyadh, Ayatollah Rafsanjani said, “In the current situation, some inexperienced, adventurous youths are making decision for Saudi Arabia.”

He noted that Saudi Arabia, as a country which hosts millions of Muslims every year for Hajj pilgrimage, is not expected to slaughter Yemeni civilians.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Rafsanjani pointed to the confrontation between Russia and the US in Syria and referred to it as a worrying subject.

“The repercussions of this confrontation are more severely seen in Turkey, Iraq, Yemen and Saudi Arabia,” he said, stressing that the wise leaders of the world’s sane nations are expected to try to curb the spread of terrorism.

Syllouris, for his part, called on Ayatollah Rafsanjani to try harder to reduce concerns of international community.
