Cleric Urges Efforts to Make US Crimes Known Globally

Movaheddi Kermani

“If we manage to publicize the US crimes in the world properly, the (Middle East) region’s reactionary states will realize that they will gain nothing from (relations with) the US,” Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani said in an address to a gathering of Friday prayer worshippers in Tehran.

Calling for measures to show the US’ true colors to the world by disclosing its crimes, the cleric pointed to Washington’s breach of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), and its refusal to lift anti-Iran sanctions under the accord.

The JCPOA did not yield any results, and it became clear that the US lies and does not honor commitments, Ayatollah Movahedi Kermani deplored.

He also emphasized that Iran needs to resolve its problems by relying on domestic capabilities, stressing that the US would never help the country settle its woes.

His comments came after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei reiterated on Wednesday that negotiating with the US government will not resolve Iran’s problems, but will aggravate them.

“We need to solve problems by ourselves through reliance on the local capabilities and young forces,” the Leader said.

The wrong and “very dangerous” notion that détente with the US would resolve Iran’s problems can be proved false with detailed reasoning, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined, referring to the US violations of the JCPOA as a glaring example of falsehood of that concept.

Tehran and the Group 5+1 (also known as E3+3) on July 14, 2015, reached a conclusion over the text of the JCPOA.

The accord took effect in January and was supposed to terminate all nuclear-related sanctions against Iran all at once, but its implementation has been hampered mainly due to US policies.

Iran to Send JCPOA to Museum If US Ignores Commitments: IRGC Commander

Arms Embargo Won’t Affect Iran’s Defence Power: Top General

“The Americans should be aware that if they fail to meet their obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), we will send the deal to Museum,” Brigadier General Salami said during a massive demonstration held in Tehran on Thursday to mark the “National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance”.

He further emphasized that if Washington reneges on the agreement, the two sides will “go back to square one” and the Islamic Republic will activate its decommissioned centrifuges.

In that case, the country not only will refuse to stop its nuclear program but also develop the activities, the commander went on to say.

While the JCPOA, a 159-page nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) came into force in January 2016, Iranian officials complain about the US failure to fully implement the accord.

Earlier in March, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Americans have yet to fulfill what they were supposed to do as per the nuclear deal.

Iran still has problems in its banking transactions or in restoring its frozen assets, because Western countries and those involved in such processes are afraid of Americans, the Leader said at the time, criticizing the US for its moves to prevent Iran from taking advantage of the sanctions removal.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Salami highlighted the crises facing the US, saying that the country is not “the number one” world power any more, adding that the political power of the US has declined dramatically.

Hundreds of thousands of Iranian people, mostly school and university students, staged demonstrations on Thursday morning all over the country to express their opposition to the arrogant policies and attitudes of the enemies, particularly the US.

On November 4, 1979, and in less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students that called themselves “students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)” seized the US embassy in Tehran, which had become a center of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.

The students who seized the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic republic.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban (which this year falls on November 3), the Iranian nation, particularly the students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day.

In the capital city of Tehran, the rallies to mark the anniversary of the landmark move are held at the venue of the former US embassy, which is known by Iranians as “Den of Espionage”.

Saudi Ambassador Compares Yemen War to Beating One’s Wife

According to a report covered by Fars News, Prince Abdullah Al-Saud, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States, was confronted by a reporter from the Intercept.

“Will you continue to use cluster weapons in Yemen?” the reporter asked the diplomat.

Al-Saud laughed before answering: “This is like the question, ‘Will you stop beating your wife?’”

After the reporter repeated the question, the ambassador again dismissed it, saying “You are political operators. I’m not a politician.”

Speaking at the Annual Arab-US Policymakers Conference last week, al-Saud insisted that the Saudi-led coalition will continue its bombing campaign in Yemen, the Intercept reported.

“If anyone attacks human lives and disturbs the border, in whatever region, we’re going to continue hitting them, no matter what,” said al-Saud.

photo_2016-11-03_16-10-22The group also paid a visit to Golestan Palace and the City Theatre Complex to watch a play entitled “The World’s Last Pomegranate”.

Among the visiting officials were Advisor to Iraqi Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmad Hassan Mousa Sa’edi, Ali Farhat, Director of the Theatre Department of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, and Khalid Bin Omar Bin Al-Shanfari, a theatre official from Oman, as well as cultural officials from other countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, Qatar, Russia and Tunisia.

During the meeting, Director of the General Administration of Dramatic Arts Mehdi Shafiei said, “Drama is a pretty long-lasting art form in the history of the Iranian civilization which exceeds thousands of years.”

Dramatic arts and traditions in Iran date back to over 3,000 year ago, he said.

Over the course of the past 100 years, modern theatre has been staged in Iranian theatres, Shadiei added.

Introduction of Iran’s international theatre festivals was among other programs of the visit.

VP Underlines Gender Equality in Iranian Society

iranvp

In an interview with Ebtekar newspaper, as translated by IFP, Mowlaverdi said that certainly, once equality is ensured in the society, the path to realization of justice will be paved by itself; and everyone, no matter what sex they may belong in, will enjoy the social and family status they are fit for depending on their capabilities and qualities.

She said no woman would ever choose to be in a position where she might hurt her physical and emotional health, just like no man would seek roles that would be incompatible with their spirit; hence, complementary roles with equal opportunities for all.

“On the other hand, the Iranian society has seen eye-catching progress in many areas over the past few years, including in health and education sectors; however, things are yet to reach a favorable level for creation of equal chances for women to step in decision-making levels and women are still overlooked in many cases where do could have otherwise had a say,” the official added.

-What to do?

“Well, I have to tell you that the country would go nowhere without creation of a general consensus in the society that men and women, as human capitals, must be exploited equally in order to ensure sustainable development.”

Besides men, women’s savvy, experience and skills must be employed so that the fairer sex, which happens to take over half of the population, is no longer viewed as an appendage to the other half, i.e. men, she added.

Iranian Health Minister Reports on Social Harms to Leader

Health Minister and Leader

According to a report by IRNA, as translated by IFP, Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi posted a message on his Telegram channel, giving details about a meeting with Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

He said, “Ayatollah Khamenei and some of the government officials who have responsibilities in the field of social harms were present in the meeting [on social harms].”

“I delivered a report on the activities of my colleagues in the field of healthcare on the outskirts and the results of studies on divorce, addiction and mental health,” he added.

Iranian Health Minister Reports on Social Harms to LeaderQazizadeh Hashemi quoted two points from Ayatollah Khamenei’s speech, “First, instead of reporting, we have to see tangible results of government’s measures through changes in indexes and mitigation of problems and second, anyone who loves Iran or even has an awakened conscience must endeavour to curb social harms.”

“I am honoured to announce that Ayatollah Khamenei said in the meeting that if there is any governmental body active on the outskirts, it is the Ministry of Health and Medical Education,” Qazizadeh Hashemi stressed.

After he finished giving his report, Qazizadeh Hashemi pointed to two concerns regarding the social harms and mental health. He referred to poverty as the root cause of social harms and said, “As part of my responsibility, I have to devise plans for prevention as well as treatment.”

He stressed that medical expenses push many people from lower classes of the society into poverty. “Health Sector Evolution Plan [also known as RouhaniCare] which is the key to deal with this problem unfortunately lacks enough support,” he said.

Health Minister referred to deliberate misuse of the culture of openness and transparency as the second concern and said, “Unfortunately some individuals work so actively in this area that anti-Iran media outlets don’t need to produce programs against the Islamic Revolution of Iran anymore.”

Aoun’s Election Heralds Better Future for Lebanon: Rouhani

President Rouhani Invites Malaysian King to Visit Iran

In a message to Michel Aoun on Wednesday, Rouhani extended his sincere congratulations to the 81-year-old retired general on his election as Lebanon’s new president.

“Undoubtedly, your position as Lebanon’s president will herald prosperity and power for the country at the domestic and regional arenas, and will symbolize the reinforcement of unity and the spirit of self-sacrifice and resistance of Lebanon’s noble nation,” read part of the message, as reported by Press TV.

In his message, Rouhani also expressed high optimism that Tehran-Beirut relations would further develop under Aoun’s presidency.

Aoun Election to Boost Anti-Israel Front: Iranian Official

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian parliament speaker’s special advisor on international affairs, also noted that the election of Aoun as Lebanon’s president will play a significant role in strengthening the anti-Israel resistance front.

abdollahianSpeaking in a meeting with Lebanon’s Ambassador to Tehran Fadi Haj Ali on Wednesday, Amir Abdollahian hailed the election and the end of political vacuum in the country.

“Definitely, the election of Michel Aoun will play an important role in the resistance against the Zionist regime, the strengthening of regional stability and security, and the fight against terrorism,” Amir-Abdollahian added.

On Monday, Lebanon’s lawmakers elected Aoun as president when they convened for their 46th attempt to choose a head of state.

Aoun secured the presidency by winning the support of 83 MPs, well above the absolute majority of 65 needed to win.

The election of Aoun as Lebanon’s president put an end to more than two years of political vacuum in the country.

She will travel to Basra, southern Iraq, to follow the pilgrims who march toward Karbala on Arba’een.

Bigelow is the first woman who has received an Academy Award for Best Director for her film The Hurt Locker.

Arba’een marks 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and third Shiite Imam.

Each year, a huge crowd of Shiites march toward Karbala, Iraq, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein is located, to perform mourning rites.

In the past few years, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world, including Iran, took part in the mourning ceremonies in Iraqi holy cities marking Arbaeen.

This year, Arba’een falls on Sunday, November 20.

London Working to Expand Trade Ties with Tehran: British Trade Secretary

Liam Fox

“Slowly but with increasing enthusiasm, British companies are starting to do business with Iran again … We are seeing the first signs of growing trade between the UK and Iran,” Fox told a City and Financial Global conference in London, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

He added, “The banking sector’s ongoing concerns about facilitating payments or providing financial services means that the benefits of sanctions relief are not yet being fully realized, resolving these problems remains a priority for this government.”

The sanctions were lifted after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached an agreement on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16.

Despite the removal the sanctions, Tehran has secured links with only a limited number of smaller banks as US sanctions remain in force and large foreign institutions still fear potential fines.
