Iran President Says Trump’s Empty Rhetoric Not Worth a Response

“The Iranian nation has from the start stood up to the American rulers’ intransigence, misconduct and breach of promises in all areas, and has chosen the path of resistance,” President Rouhani told a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

He dismissed the recent belligerent comments by American officials against the Iranian nation as “baseless and unfounded,” noting that their “hollow threats” do not even warrant a response.

Following its much-criticized withdrawal from an international nuclear deal with Iran in May, the administration of US President Donald Trump has ramped up its tough rhetoric against Iran.

Recently, Trump threatened Iran with hardship “the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before” as Washington launched a new campaign meant to foment unrest in the Islamic Republic.

Rouhani said domestic efforts directed towards increasing production and exports as well as closer public coordination with the government with an aim to stabilize the market would be a “decisive response” to enemy plots and White House officials.

Confronting US in global arena

President Rouhani further noted that Iran has undertaken legal international efforts to confront the United States’ misdeeds.

The chief executive pointed to the complaint filed with the International Court of Justice over Washington’s decision to re-impose nuclear-related sanctions against Iran after quitting the 2015 multilateral nuclear deal.

Rouhani said the proceedings have yielded their “first success” with the court announcing to the US that it was not allowed to take any action that would influence the tribunal’s potential rulings before “Iran’s complaint is addressed.”

The tribunal warned the US secretary of state about his actions and plans concerning the matter, Rouhani said. “This is a warning to the US by the world’s most senior legal authority.”

“Today, an absolute majority of world states condemn or view US actions as wrong,” said the president, describing it as proof that the Iranian nation’s resistance has been fruitful.

“US Must Abandon Idea of Holding One-Sided Negotiation with Iran”

In statement on Wednesday, Qassemi referred to the latest statements by various American officials who call for holding talks with Iran while threatening the Islamic Republic, and urged the US government not to be after repeating their failed experiences.

Qassemi described the people of Iran as a brave and civilised nation who enjoy rich history, culture, intelligence and wisdom, and said the Iranians have always responded to threats with threats and to respect with respect.

He further noted that the Iranian nation will never hesitate to defend against excessive demands, foreign domination and pressures, and will strongly protect the people’s rights, territorial integrity and independence of the country.

The Iranian spokesman advised Trump and other US officials to abandon the idea of holding one-sided negotiations with Iran under the shadow of threat, and said, “The United States must know that the modern world and era is not an age of hegemony, bullying, consolidation, and unidirectional thinking anymore.”

A look at the world public opinion and their negative view of the performance of the US government is indicative of a profound transformation in the international arena, he added.

“The United States must keep its limits and recognize its position at this point of time. It must also make greater efforts to understand the place and role of Iran.”

He also emphasised that today, as before, there is no trust in the statements and actions of the US statesmen to hold talks, especially in an American way.

To make it easier, think of your ordinary glue gun – with coloured glue sticks and a smaller tip. But instead of gluing things together, the colored plastic that oozes out of the pen’s nozzle is used to draw figures and artwork.

It’s sort of like drawing stick figures. The only difference is that you don’t use paper to print them on, but instead just let the figures stand up on their own. The effect is like creating a sculpture in different colors by just using a simple pen!

Why Netanyahu Feels “Concerned” about White Helmets?

Thanks to the Israeli government, now White Helmets are safe, spokesman for Israel’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Emmanuel Nachshon, happily said.

Needless to say, the United States was the first country to welcome Israel’s initiative. In fact, it was the USA that requested the evacuation of “creative terrorists” from Syria. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the lives of members of White Helmets were in danger, so he allowed them to travel through Israel to a third country as a “humanitarian gesture.”

One is left to wonder about the reaction of those, who lost their loved ones because of the attacks conducted by representatives of such humanitarian organizations, who bomb buses, synagogues and stab people in broad daylight, a report by Russian news website Pravda said.

White Helmets will now be able to please other countries with their videos too. The Israeli administration may not even seem to bother much about the number of makeshift bombs and missiles that fall in residential quarters of Israeli towns. The Israeli prime minister may also suffer from the shortage of chlorine in daily news reports.

The USA, Canada, France and a number of other European states asked to save their protégés. Of course, officials with the Israeli leadership know whom they are evacuating.

Perhaps, the Israelis concluded a “very good deal” with someone. They know what consequences of dealing with terrorists may be. Anyone can come now to Israel under the guise of virtual humanitarianism advocates.

Russia may not agree with Israel in its approach to the definition of terrorist organizations. Israel may consider certain groups as terrorist organizations, but Russia may disagree. In the past, however, Israel used to consider terrorists in the Northern Caucasus and their guests from Arab countries as “rebels.” In other words, those terrorists were freedom fighters for Israel, even though they had to behead people on the way to future prosperity.

In the context of the above-mentioned humanitarian gesture, assumptions of Israel’s participation in the training of Syrian terrorists look different. White Helmets may take their “show” to Jordan and then to the streets of European cities. It seems that Israel knows what it is doing. Israel’s compassion for terrorists may reduce the level of sympathy to the country should tragic news come from Israel again. Of course, we never want any tragedy to happen anywhere, but Israel’s humanitarianism smells blood, TNT and chlorine.

Trump Says US Ready to Reach “Real Deal” with Iran

“Iran is not the same country anymore, that I can say,” Trump claimed on Tuesday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Convention in Kansas City, Mo., The New York Post reported.

“But we’re ready to make a real deal, not the deal that was done by the previous administration, which was a disaster.”

Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in May, and Washington plans to reimpose sanctions on Tehran next month. The first round of US sanctions on Iran goes into effect in August, followed by ones targeting Iran’s oil exports in November.

The softer tone follows a weekend war of words between Tehran and Washington.

Trump on Sunday responded to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s comments that hostile behavior from the US would result in the “mother of all wars” by vowing in a tweet that “You will suffer consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered.”

Iran Can Block Global Oil Exports Whenever It Wants: IRGC

general-mohammad-ali-jafari

General Jafari says the US threat that it will cut down to zero Iran’s oil exports until November is unrealistic, as Iran is capable of taking effective counter-measures.

“It’s laughable that the US government says it won’t allow even a drop of oil to be exported from Iran in a few months. They seem to be unaware that all oil transportation passageways are within Iran’s reach and it can block global oil [flow] whenever it wants,” he told a gathering of IRGC personnel in central province of Fars on Wednesday.

General Jafari further noted the incumbent US administration is all talk and its dream of changing the ruling system of Iran won’t come true, as successive US administrations have tried this option to no avail.

“They are all talk and they do not dare to confront Iran, as they know the powerful Islamic Republic relies on the will of its Muslim people,” IRIB News Agency qouted him as saying.

“Since the victory of the Revolution, all US presidents have sought to topple the Iranian system but have taken this dream to the grave,” he said.

The Trump administration walked out of the 2015 nuclear deal early May and threatened to impose harsh sanctions on Iran that will “destroy the Iranian economy”, unless Iran cave into demands by the US regarding its defense and regional policies.

A majority of anti-Iran US sanctions that were suspended under the 2015 nuclear pact will snap back early November.

Rouhani has vowed Iran will stop oil imports from the Persian Gulf, if the US halts Iran’s oil export.

ICJ Warns US against Taking New Move on Iran Sanctions

Mohsen Mohebbi, the head of Iran’s Presidential Centre for International Legal Affairs, said the ICJ has issued the warning in a letter to US Foreign Secretary Mike Pompeo on Tuesday.

Iran filed a lawsuit against the US alleging that Washington’s decision in May to impose sanctions after pulling out of the 2015 nuclear deal violates a 1955 treaty between the two countries, the ICJ said on July 17.

Iran said in its filing that Trump’s move “has violated and continued to violate multiple provisions” of the Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations and Consular Rights.

The ICJ letter asks the US not to make moves that may prevent the upcoming decision of the tribunal on the case from taking effect, he said.

Mohebbi said Iran’s lawsuit asked the ICJ to order the US not to re-impose sanctions before more detailed arguments.

The first hearing session in the case will be held on August 27, the ICJ letter said.

The ICJ, which is based in The Hague and is also known as the World Court, is the United Nations tribunal for resolving international disputes.

Although the ICJ’s decisions are binding, it has no power to enforce them, and countries, including the United States, have occasionally ignored them.

Hemmati Appointed New Governor of Iran’s Central Bank

Hemmati

The Iranian government endorsed Hemmati on Wednesday as the new head of the Central Bank to replace Valiollah Seif.

According to a report by Fars News Agency, the cabinet also appreciated the services and efforts of Seif during his term in office at the Central Bank.

During the session, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani introduced Hemmati as an educated, well-informed, experienced banker who is well-mannered, active and capable.

The president said reforming the country’s banking system, financial and monetary policies, improving our banking relations with the world and developing bilateral monetary treaties, and preserving foreign exchange reserves must be the priorities of the new governor of the Central Bank.

He also urged all members of the cabinet to cooperate with Hemmati.

The dismissal of Seif came as the Iranian rial has hit a record low, trading above 90,000 against the US dollar in the unofficial market.

Earlier, in a meeting at Iran’s Parliament over the currency devaluation, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani criticised Seif for mismanagement of the foreign exchange market.

Seif faced harsh reactions from a large number of MPs, who approached him and shouted “Resign” while he was delivering a speech at the Parliament.

Iran Sympathizes with Greece over Deadly Wildfires

In a Tuesday statement, Qassemi expressed sympathy with the nation and government of Greece and the bereaved families of the heart-breaking incident’s victims.

Wildfires sweeping through a Greek resort town have killed at least 74 people including families with children found clasped in a last embrace as they tried to flee the flames.

The Greek government has declared three days of mourning over the wildfires.

“The country is going through an unspeakable tragedy,” Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said in a televised address. “Today, Greece is mourning and we are declaring three days of national mourning in the memory of those who perished,” he said.

US Bases within Reach of Iran’s Defence Forces: Top General

In a statement on Tuesday, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces General Baqeri warned the US that any threats at any level against the Iranian nation will face a fierce response by the country’s armed forces.

“We must thank God that our enemies are fools,” he said, adding that it is an illusion of the president of the United States, as the most hated person in the world, to create a rift between Iranians through economic pressures.

He also stressed that the Iranian people have always shown they are able to foil enemy plots, especially those hatched by the criminal US government, the fake Zionist regime and their mercenaries in the region and in the world, by maintaining their unity and solidarity.

“The enemies of Iran, in particular the United States, whose bases and interests are within reach of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s defence forces, would better not play with the lion’s tail as Iran’s president said, because they will receive a solid, unthinkable, regrettable response on a very large scale in the region and in the world,” underscored General Baqeri.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a guarantor of peace and stability in the region and through appropriate, friendly and brotherly relations with neighbouring countries, it has the ability to use its defence power to help establish and maintain peace and repel any form of aggression in the region.”

“Iran as the dominant power in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz has always guaranteed safety of navigation in this vital waterway and the global economy, and it has the power to take any measure in the region,” he added.

He also stressed that the armed forces are at the peak of their readiness and are confident that they will foil any plot against the Iranian nation, and give the enemies an unforgettable lesson, as they did in the past.
