President Rouhani Sends Message to Chilean Counterpart

Ansari delivered the message during a meeting with Chilean Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero in Chile’s capital of Santiago.

In recent weeks, President Rouhani’s special envoys have travelled to different countries in Latin America and conveyed his messages to his opposite numbers and other heads of state.

Ansari, as well as Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi, have earlier carried out the same mission in Brazil, Bolivia, and Venezuela.

The Iranian administration has enhanced political contacts with foreign leaders in recent weeks on the ways to save the 2015 Iran nuclear deal after the US exit.

Last week, President Rouhani told his French counterpart that staying in the JCPOA will be out of the question if Tehran cannot enjoy the benefits of the nuclear deal.

On May 8, the US president pulled his country out of the JCPOA, which was achieved in Vienna in 2015 after years of negotiations among Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

Following the US exit, Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the accord.

Iran, Pakistan Discuss Joint Fight against Border Threats

Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the second-in-command of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Chief of General Staff of Pakistan Army Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar held talks in Tehran on Saturday.

Salami said Iran and Pakistan could act in a unified and coordinated front to counter regional woes by boosting bilateral cooperation in defense and security sectors.

He commended Pakistan’s wise and brave move not to join a Saudi-led coalition against Yemen and said the ongoing regional crises “are the outcome of crimes committed by the US and the Zionist regime (Israel).”

“They were in need of a new means to keep their evil approaches in the West Asia region alive,” the IRGC commander said, adding that they created Takfiri terrorists to bridge the gap between their strategy and objectives and weaken Muslim countries.

Salami emphasized that the Islamic Republic had played a key role in thwarting Takfiri terrorists’ dangerous plots to carry out crimes and atrocities beyond Iraq and Syria and across the region.

He stressed the importance of boosting security in Iran-Pakistan border areas, saying, “Today, the battle against Takfiri terrorism and security threats is a priority of the prestamosexpressonline.com.”

He expressed the IRGC’s readiness to transfer its experience to Pakistan in this regard.

The senior Pakistani official, for his part, said Tehran and Islamabad were facing common border threats and should make joint efforts to boost border and regional security.

Akbar added that security and military forces of Iran and Pakistan planned to expand cooperation to protect the two countries’ interests.

In a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad in March, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran and Pakistan must bolster cooperation to ensure security in borders and fight terrorists.

“Iran and Pakistan, as two friendly and neighboring countries with common borders, need to have strong cooperation on [ways to] ensure the two countries’ borders and prevent operations by terrorists,” Zarif said.

“Reuters Gambling with Its Reputation by Publishing Biased Reports on Iran”

Hossein Entezami, a Special Assistant to Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, says Reuters is gambling with its professional prestige by publishing meddlesome reports on Iran’s politics and economy commissioned by certain sides for particular purposes.

Entezami, who previously served as Iran’s deputy culture minister for press affairs, said in a post on his Twitter account that Reuters used to make a distinction between news and psychological war.

He then cited at least two featured reports recently published by Reuters to substantiate his statement about the news agency.

In one report, he said, Reuters claimed some Iranian executives have bought African passports to bypass sanctions and in another one, it said at least $30 billion have been funneled out of Iran, indicating that the Islamic Republic’s days in power are numbered.

Entezami began his career as a journalist in 1989. Over the past three decades, he has always served as a leading journalist in Iran. He has also for years represented Iranian press managers at the Press Supervisory Board, a top official body tasked with overseeing media activities in Iran.

During the first term of President Hassan Rouhani in office, Entezami served as the deputy minister of culture and Islamic guidance for press affairs and in his second term, he became the top assistant of Culture Minister Seyyed Abbas Salehi.

Iran Exports First Shipment of Mat Handicrafts to Qatar, UAE

The shipment contained over 800 mat products, mostly Kapou, a traditional handicraft native to southern Iran that is made of leaves of the palm tree.

Mehr News Agency reported that the handicrafts were exported by a firm affiliated with the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handcraft and Tourism Organisation (ICHTO).

Under a plan initiated in 2017, the firm buys mat handicrafts from producers in southern provinces of Iran and sells them in markets in north of the country, in a bid to prevent the cheap Chinese imports to dominate the market.

This is the first time the mat products are being exported to foreign countries.

“EU’s Package to Save JCPOA Not Offered to Iran Yet”

bahram

In a Saturday statement, Qassemi said so far no support package has been offered by the EU to the Iranian side, saying the European states are still engaged in the final rounds of their talks on the package.

“Definitely, we will announce and begin examining the package’s content as soon as we receive it,” he noted.

The spokesman said the Islamic Republic will adopt an appropriate decision about the proposals and whether or not to remain in the nuclear deal after precisely looking into the Europeans’ proposals based on its national interests and considerations.

Qassemi’s remarks came after IRIB News Agency quoted EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini as saying the European Union will very soon provide Iran with its support package aiming to encourage Tehran to remain in the nuclear deal, after Brussels ratified the plan on Friday.

“The EU has ratified the JCPOA support package with 28 affirmative votes,” the state-run IRIB quoted Mogherini as saying.

“The contents of this supportive package will be submitted to Iranian officials within the next two days,” she said on the sidelines of a two-day summit of European leaders concluded on Friday.

IRIB claims Mogherini’s remarks had been originally published by the EU External Action Service’s website on Friday night, but was removed shortly afterwards.

Sassanid Archaeological Landscape Inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List

Sassanid Archaeological Landscape

The World Heritage Committee, which has started its meetings in the Bahraini capital of Manama since 24 June, inscribed four cultural sites on the World Heritage List including the Sassanid landscape.

The Sassanid Archaeological Landscape includes eight archaeological sites situated in three geographical parts in the southeast of Fars Province: Firuzabad, Bishapur and Sarvestan.

These fortified structures, palaces, and city plans date back to the earliest and latest times of the Sassanid Empire, which stretched across the region from 224 to 658 CE.

Among these sites is the capital built by the founder of the dynasty, Ardashir Papakan, as well as a city and architectural structures of his successor, Shapur I.

The archaeological landscape reflects the optimized utilization of natural topography and bears witness to the influence of Achaemenid and Parthian cultural traditions and of Roman art, which had a significant impact on the architecture and artistic styles of the Islamic era.

Venezuela Hails Iran’s Fight against US’ Hegemony

Arreaza on Friday expressed Venezuela’s full support for the stances and views of the Islamic Republic in its fight against the US’ totalitarianism and hegemony.

“Venezuela has already experienced the US’ aggressive policies and therefore supports the Islamic Republic in its efforts to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against the US and the West’s sanctions,” he said in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and President Hassan Rouhani`s Special Envoy Morteza Sarmadi in Caracas.

The Venezuelan top diplomat then dismissed the US administration’s unilateralism and said like its other violations in the past, the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal reveals that Washington attaches no significance to international treaties and deals agreed on and signed by the US officials.

He then hailed Iran’s role in fight against terrorism and underlined the country’s strategic status in creating stability in the Middle East.

Sarmadi, for his part, hailed the close relations between Iran and Venezuela and said the two sides routinely exchange views on various mutual, regional and international issues.

He noted that Iran and Venezuela condemn the US’ unilateralism as well as its violation of international treaties and commitments including the Iran nuclear deal.

“Caracas views the unilateralism as a sign of the US’ hegemonic policies which threaten the international peace and security,” he added.

Sarmadi also called for closer coordination among the countries that are on the front line of fight against the US’ policies.

These countries should convince other states to step into the fray and stand against Washington, he added.

During the talks, the two sides also explored ways to enhance and strengthen mutual ties in various political, economic, trade and cultural areas.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides held a joint press conference and responded to reporters’ questions.

In recent weeks, President Rouhani’s special envoys have travelled to different countries and conveyed the president’s message about the Iran nuclear deal to his opposite numbers and other heads of state. Sarmadi earlier held talks with Bolivian President Evo Morales, and Deputy Foreign Ministry for Economic Affairs Gholam-Reza Ansari met the Brazilian foreign minister.

“Enemies Seeking to Cause Rift between Iranian People, Establishment”

Ayatollah Khamenei made the comment while addressing cadets of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) at their graduation ceremony.

“They put this economic pressure to separate the nation from the Establishment, but we will strengthen our bonds with the nation and preserve our enemy-crushing solidarity,” he said.

The Leader further said the enemies’ conspiracy to sow discord between the Iranian nation and the ruling Establishment shows they are stupid because they do not know that the Iranian nation and the Establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran are not separable.

Ayatollah Khamenei further touched upon Iran’s national might, saying the United States’ animosity towards Iranians has increased as the Iranian nation’s hatred of the US has increased as well.

“The most obvious reason for the Iranian nation’s might is that one of the world’s most brutal and merciless powers, i.e. the US, has spared no effort over the past forty years to counter the Iranian nation, but has not been able to do a damn thing,” said the Leader.

In addition to the “foreign enemy,” he said, the “local enemy” has also been making plots over the past years.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that another reason which proves Iran’s national might is the creation of regional coalitions by the United States in order to counter the Islamic Establishment of Iran.

“If the US were able to achieve its objective alone, it wouldn’t have needed to create coalitions with the reactionary and notorious regional countries,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted.

The Leader then expressed dismay at some suggestions which indicate submission to the enemy.

“Submission will be much costlier than resistance, and resistance will have hundreds of times more achievements than capitulation,” he noted.

Ayatollah Khamenei said a day will soon come when the enemies wouldn’t dare launch military, economic, security and political aggression against Iranians.

Africans Eager to Hire Iran’s Head Coach Queiroz

Khabar Online has quoted an Arab-language news website that Cameroon, the defending African champion, and Algeria are eager to hire the Portuguese coach.

While Iranian media had earlier reported Iran’s football federation and Queiroz have reached agreement on extending his contract for sixth months, till the end of 2019 AFC Asian Cup, media reports on Saturday said the Portuguese manager has said goodbye to his assistants, fuelling speculations that he is going to leave Iran.

Queiroz has been leading the Iranian national squad for over seven years, helping Team Melli qualify for FIFA World Cup for two consecutive times.

Under Queiroz, Iran managed to advance to the FIFA World Cups of 2014 and 2018, but failed to advance to the knockout stage in both tournaments.

However, in this year’s tournament, Team Melli delivered an impressive performance, seen as its best in the history of the world’s most popular sport event, and came so close to advancing to the next stage.
