Iran Second Only to China in Terms of Coronavirus Recovery

COVID-19 in Iran: Number of New Infections Drops for 10th Day in Row

As of Monday, March 2, 2020, 291 patients have recovered from the COVID-19 and been discharged from hospital, according to Iran’s Health Ministry.

This puts Iran second only to China with 44,801 cases of recovery.

Iran has been battling against the coronavirus since 19 February 2020 when the first cases of infections were confirmed by the country’s officials.

The death toll from the epidemic in Iran has risen to 66, and the total number of confirmed cases of infection has reached 1051, according to the Health Ministry spokesman.

Despite the brutal sanctions imposed by the US against the country, Iranian experts have managed to develop homegrown diagnostic kits for the novel coronavirus, and is to mass-produce the kits in coming days.

Fasting Could Boost Immune System, Fight Coronavirus: Expert

Fasting Could Boost Immune System, Fight Coronavir

An official at the Health Ministry’s Iranian Medicine Office has made a series of recommendations for strengthening the body’s immune system amid the outbreak of a novel coronavirus, stressing the need to observe personal hygiene in order to minimizing the risk of infection.

In an interview with ISNA, Dr. Alireza Abbasian said “medical fasting” would reduce the daily intake of food and calories by up to 20 percent than the normal diet.

“By boosting the immune system and decreasing the inflammation (of body organs), this method could result in the improvement of performance of the body’s immune system against external pathogens, which is why we advise people to exercise this method (medical fasting) these days,” he explained.

Abbasian also recommended avoiding ingredients like pickles, pungent spices such as red pepper and mustard, as well as salty foods like salty nuts and pickled cucumber.

“People had better limit the intake of yoghurt, tomatoes, bananas, dough foods and stodgy dishes,” he added.

The Iranian traditional medicine expert also noted that people can strengthen their immune system by eating succulent stews containing fresh vegetables, prune, and barberry, as well as squash stew, green bean stew, okra, and pumpkin.

Abbasian finally highlighted the major role of spices and medicinal plants in strengthening the body’s immune system, such as thyme, cinnamon, fennel flower, turmeric, Stachys lavandulifolia, viper’s bugloss, German chamomile, saffron, cardamom, rosemary, and dianthus.

The work titled “World, go wash your hands!” is based on the doctors’ strict recommendation for continuous hand washing as the only way to prevent the disease.

Bahrami has likened the coronavirus to the bowling ball and placed several bowling pins on each part of the earth map.

Each of these pins, while masking the mouth, is intended to hit the ball-like virus to get rid of it.

At the top of one of the story’s characters there is a box that reads: “If only I had washed my hands!”
That reflects a patient’s regret for not being healthy and suffering from coronavirus.

Hamid Bahrami comes from the world of caricature, illustration and animation, and his work is full of humour, amazement and panic.

He is a world-renowned cartoon and animation artist who has occasionally brought his independent experiences in drawing and painting to Iran.

In recent years two exhibitions of his works have been held in Iran.

He is a graduate of painting from Tehran University of the Arts and has lived in the US since 2008. He works as a concept designer with several animation companies in the United States.

Syrian Army Announces Closure of Airspace over Northwest

Syrian Army Announces Closure of Airspace over Northwest

The warning came as tensions mount between Damascus and Ankara over the Syrian Idlib region.

The Syrian army says it has closed the airspace over the northwest, and will consider as a hostile target any aircraft entering the area.

It has accused Turkey of carrying out hostile acts against Syrian government forces by targeting them in Idlib and supporting terror groups there.

The announcement came after Syria’s official news agency said two of its warplanes had been shot down by Turkish forces inside northwest Syria.

SANA says the jets were targeted over the Idlib region, and that the four pilots ejected with parachutes and landed safely.

Turkey’s Defense Ministry said it had shot down two SU-24 aircraft and destroyed air defense systems after one of its aerial drones was downed by the Syrian army over Idlib.

The two neighbours have been at odds over the region for over a month now.

The tensions escalated on Thursday when a Syrian airstrike killed at least 30 Turkish soldiers in Idlib. The Turkish military, in reation, launched a drone attack on Saturday night and killed 26 Syrian soldiers.

Iranian Magnum Opus Artwork Put Up for Online Sale (+Video)

Iranian Magnum Opus Artwork Put Up for Online Sale

The masterpiece has been created by Master Hosseini in a 10-year period from 2003 to 2013.

The design of the “Growth Tableau” is based on a painting by Master Mahmoud Farshchian. The wood used is the pear tree wood. Pear tree wood has a very high density and very low colour streaks, which shows the workloads in a closed form.

The philosophy of the picture, as its name implies, is growth and life. In this tableau everything has grown from soil to reach evolution.

The woman carved on the surface of the painting symbolises the human being and her feet have roots in the soil. The deer she cares about has its feet rooted in the soil as well, but the Simorgh seated on his right hand connects her to the heavens.

Once the carving was finished in 2013, professional polishing was started with small files. After 11 months (approximately 2,700 working hours) professional and final polishing was finished.

At the Dubai auction in 2015 the reserve price for this work was 430,000 USD.

Those interested in buying the artwork can send their bids to [email protected].
