Iranian Magnum Opus Artwork Put Up for Online Sale

The masterpiece has been created by Master Hosseini in a 10-year period from 2003 to 2013.

The design of the “Growth Tableau” is based on a painting by Master Mahmoud Farshchian. The wood used is the pear tree wood. Pear tree wood has a very high density and very low colour streaks, which shows the workloads in a closed form.

The philosophy of the picture, as its name implies, is growth and life. In this tableau everything has grown from soil to reach evolution.

The woman carved on the surface of the painting symbolises the human being and her feet have roots in the soil. The deer she cares about has its feet rooted in the soil as well, but the Simorgh seated on his right hand connects her to the heavens.

Once the carving was finished in 2013, professional polishing was started with small files. After 11 months (approximately 2,700 working hours) professional and final polishing was finished.

At the Dubai auction in 2015 the reserve price for this work was 430,000 USD.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said 385 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected across Iran over the past 24 hours, 11 of whom have died.

He said the southern province of Kerman was clean until yesterday, but the first two new cases have been just identified in the large province.

The new cases include 13 in Isfahan, 8 in Fars, 17 in Khorasan Razavi, 2 in Kermanshah, 8 in Lorestan, 3 in Semnan, 11 in Mazandaran, 3 in Hamedan, 2 in South Khorasan, 31 in Alborz, 2 in Hormozgan, 9 in Khuzestan, 1 in Sistan and Baluchestan, 1 in Ilam, and 2 in Kerman, he added.

Jahanpour also strongly recommended that people refrain from travelling to the northern provinces of Iran.

The health official finally noted that 175 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital so far.

The novel coronavirus has killed more than 2,900 people worldwide, the vast majority in mainland China. There have been more than 85,000 global cases, with infections on every continent except Antarctica.

Iranian Filmmaker Wins Golden Bear at Berlin Film Festival


The closing ceremony of Berlin International Film Festival 2020 was held in Germany’s capital on Saturday night.

The jury, presided by British actor Jeremy Irons, picked There Is No Evil, directed by Mohammad Rasoulof, as the winner of the Golden Bear in the main competition section of the festival.

The cast of the 150-minute film includes Shaghayegh Shourian, Kaveh Ahangar, Mahtab Servati, Mohammad Valizadegan, Mohammad Seddighimehr, Jila Shahi, Baran Rasoulof, Alireza Zareparast, Salar Khamseh, and Darya Moghbeli.

The film tells four stories about four characters facing an unimaginable, but simple, moral dilemma which would affect their relations and entire life directly and indirectly. 

There Is No Evil is a joint production of Germany, the Czech Republic, and Iran.

Baran Rasoulof, who also stars in the film, received the Golden Bear on behalf of his father Mohammad Rasoulof.

By winning the top award at the Berlin International Film Festival, There Is No Evil joined the other Iranian films receiving prizes in the festival, such as “Still Life” directed by Sohrab Shahid-Saless which had won the Silver Bear in 1974, or “A Separation” written and directed by Asghar Farhadi that won the Golden Bear in 2011.

The Berlin International Film Festival, usually called the Berlinale, was founded in in 1951 in a city divided into two parts. The festival soon became a venue for cultural interaction, film criticism and discussion on social subjects.

The total value of the Chinese Red Cross aid to the Iranian Red Crescent Society is nearly $1.3m.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society had earlier donated one million masks to China’s Red Cross after the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country.

In a statement on Sunday, March 1, 2020, the Iranian Foreign Ministry highlighted its standpoint on peace in Afghanistan as well as an agreement reached by the US and the Taliban in that regard.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran believes lasting peace will be established in Afghanistan only through inter-Afghan talks attended by the country’s political groups, including the Taliban, while taking into account the consideration of Afghanistan’s neighbouring countries,” read the statement.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes any development that would contribute to peace and stability in Afghanistan, and backs any Afghan-led efforts in that regard,” it added.

The statement also lashed out at the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran believes the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan is illegal and is one of the key contributors to war and insecurity in the country,” read the statement.

“The pullout of these forces is a prelude to achieving peace and security in Afghanistan, and any move that sets the stage for the withdrawal of these troops will contribute to [the establishment of] peace in that country,” the statement added.

In an apparent reference to a so-called peace deal inked between Washington and the Taliban in the Qatari capital, Doha, the statement lambasted Washington’s attempts to maintain its military presence in Afghanistan.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran regards the United States’ moves as an effort to legitimize the presence of its troops in Afghanistan, and is opposed to such moves,” read part of the statement.

“The US has no legal position to sign a peace deal or to decide the future situation of Afghanistan,” it noted.

“We believe the United Nations enjoys good potential to facilitate inter-Afghan negotiations as well as to monitor and guarantee the implementation of the agreements reached,” read the statement.

“While respecting the territorial sovereignty and integrity of Afghanistan, and in line with its national security strategy, the Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready to offer any help to establish peace, stability and security in Afghanistan,” it added.

“We hope a government will take office in Afghanistan that will establish cordial and brotherly relations with its neighbours and will be able to uproot terrorism,” read the statement.

Iranian Scientists Produce World-Class Coronavirus Kits

Ali Gholami, the CEO of the company, says “before the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country, and after its genome was put in the US database, the production of the kit started.”

He also added that the corona detection kit was designed and manufactured based on world-class standards.

“The scientists at the company have developed and synthesized a piece of the virus genome in a simulated manner. The kit responds very well,” noted Gholami.

After the virus entered the country, a sample of it was received in RNA format from Imam Reza (AS) Laboratory in Arak. We performed the necessary procedures and then tested it with the company’s kit. Fortunately the result was positive, underlined Gholami.

“We now only need to compare the production kit with the imported kits that are used in medical centres. The cost of our manufactured kit is one-third of the one purchased by the Ministry of Health,” he concluded.

The CEO of Behshahr Industrial Group stressed that currently the daily production capacity of the company is 80 tonnes and it can be increased to 90 tonnes if the needed alcohol is procured promptly.

After the outbreak of coronavirus in Iran many supermarkets and pharmacies have run out of disinfectant gels and liquids.

Iran’s defence ministry has begun to produce 20,000 litres of disinfectants and 20,000 protective face masks per day to counter the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Sayyari said parts of Besat, Golestan, and Hajar Hospitals are fully in control of the Health Ministry to give service to coronavirus patients.

Regarding the health status of the garrisons he said the condition is even better than that of people’s homes, and there is more control in these environments.

“The bio-defence headquarters is formed in the army and to date we have had no problems or suspicious cases in the army barracks and organizations. The health of our soldiers and army personnel is very important to us,” underlined Sayyari.

IRGC Vows Unwavering Support in War against Coronavirus

In a statement on Sunday, the IRGC said it has always stood by the Iranian nation at the time of disasters, such as earthquakes and floods, stressing that in efforts to contain the virus, it has relied on the experience of addressing threats during the Iraqi imposed war in the 1980s, such as countering microbial and chemical attacks.

The statement said the IRGC has been working in close coordination with the Iranian Health Ministry since the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country, and is fully prepared for any more cooperation with the country’s health sector in the battle with COVID-19.

The IRGC has prepared hospitals and medical centers, begun disinfection operations, and supplied the necessary medical equipment in the efforts to contain the coronavirus, the statement added, giving an assurance that the IRGC and the Basij forces will be prepared to work hard and cooperate with the other sectors until the coronavirus is fully contained and the situation returns to normal.

The statement also denounced the psychological war and media campaign launched by the enemies with the purpose of downplaying Iran’s medical capabilities, saying the international organizations such as the World Health Organization have acknowledged Iran’s knowledge, capabilities, and sufficient capacities for the fight against the coronavirus.

According to Iran’s Health Ministry, the number of people who have died from the coronavirus in the country has risen to 43 and the total number of confirmed cases to 593.
