The Grand Mosque of Qom has been built beside the holy shrine of Fatimah al-Masumah (AS) upon the order of Grand Ayatollah Alavi Boroujerdi, the late Iranian religious authority.

As an excellent example of Islamic art in the 20th century, the mosque dazzles every passer-by.

Master Hossein Lorzadeh, the prominent contemporary architect, is the one who has designed the magnificent structure.

With an area of more than 1,400 metres, its dome is one of the largest ones in the Islamic world. The building has two large, 25-metre minarets, and is adorned with unique tile works.

Sponsored by Shiraz municipality, the gallery alley includes murals by Iranian artists like Adel Yazdi, the painter and sculpture.

These murals have turned the alley into a gallery, giving a chance to tourists who pass through the historical passage to stand by the artworks for a few minutes, enjoy them and take photos.

Three stories are told in the gallery, according to Yazdi. First, the wedding of orange tree: a folk tale passing in the historical alleys of Shiraz. Traditionally, a celebration had been held based on this story in order to increase the tree’s fruitfulness.

The second story is that of Siavash, the famous Persian hero, passing through fire; which is the subject of murals on the other side of alley. It is depicted using three different techniques.
The third part belongs to the story of an angel who brought the water of life to Dhu al-Qarnayn, the Quranic feature. The water then flowed on the cypress and orange trees- the symbols of Shiraz.

This gallery alley is a combination of art, fictional content, history and the past which stands against the modernity that ha engulfed the city.

In a congratulatory message to Nicaraguan President José Daniel Ortega Saavedra on Sunday, Rouhani stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes deepening relations with the Republic of Nicaragua in line with the interests of the people of the two friendly and brotherly countries.

“I hope we will continue to see the strengthening of bilateral cooperation through joint efforts,” he added.

He also wished health and success for his counterpart, and prosperity and felicity for the heroic people of the Republic of Nicaragua.

July 19 is annually celebrated in Nicaragua as it marks the anniversary of the fall of the militarized Somaza family dictatorship.

This family ruled the country in a harsh and unscrupulous way for more than four decades. The dynasty was overthrown after the National Sandinista Revolution, which took place when people from all sectors – workers, businessmen, peasants, students, and guerrillas – joined forces and finally defeated the Somoza dynasty and the National Guard on July 19, 1979.

The symbol and direct precedent of the revolution is the struggle of General Augusto C. Sandino (1895-1934), a national hero who fought with bravery, supported by an army formed by farmers and workers.

During the Sunday meeting, the two sides conferred on further cooperation and synergy between Tehran and Baghdad on legal pursuit of the assassination of resistance commanders, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

The US assassinated General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of Iraq’s Hashd al-Sha’abi, and their companions by targeting their vehicles outside Baghdad International Airport on January 3.

The assassination was carried out under the direction of US President Donald Trump, with the Pentagon taking responsibility for the strike.

General Soleimani was widely viewed as a key figure in defeating ISIS, the world’s most notorious terrorist group, in the Middle East battles.

In her press briefing on Sunday, Sima-Sadat Lari confirmed 2,182 new cases of COVID-19 infection, raising the total number of infections to 273,656.

The spokeswoman said 237,788 patients have so far recovered from COVID-19, but 3,556 are still in severe conditions of the disease.

She stressed that so far 2,148,999 COVID-19 tests have been taken across the country.

Lari said Khuzestan, East Azarbaijan, Khorasan Razavi, Zanjan, Kerman, Golestan, Ilam, Bushehr, Fars, and Mazandaran provinces are considered as “red zones” as in previous days.
