Iran Warns Regional Arab States against Normalizing Ties with Israel

Iran Warns Regional Arab States against Normalizing Ties with Israel

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani dismissed normalization deals between certain regional Arab rulers and the Israeli regime as an act of betrayal and dangerous.

“The Muslim world will never allow the plan [to set the stage for Israeli presence in the region] to materialize,” said Shamkhani in a meeting with former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki.

Shamkhani said the struggles of the resistance front will “root out the US and the Zionist regime [of Israel] in the region.”

The Iranian official also elaborated on the US strategy aimed at creating divisions and insecurity in the region, urging regional countries to band together and cooperate to tackle such plots.

Shamkhani further urged Iraqi people and groups to remain vigilant and united against enemy conspiracies.

“The enemies of unity and progress of Iraq seek to turn the country’s future elections into an arena for differences, conflict and finally insecurity,” said Shamkhani.

He also touched upon Washington’s all-out efforts to undermine regional countries and maintain the security of the Israeli regime.

“With the so-called ‘peace’ plan, the Israeli regime is trying to secure its domination on the territory between the Nile and the Euphrates,” he noted.

Maliki, in turn, praised Iran’s outstanding role in fighting terrorism and establishing stability and security in the region, urging Tehran and Baghdad to work together on key regional and international issues.

He emphasized the necessity of boosting solidarity in the Muslim world and preventing measures that would deal a blow to the identity of Islamic countries.

“As we turned away the evil spectre of terrorism from Iraq and the region, we will be able to tackle threats to holy Quds and the Palestinian existence through the cooperation of Islamic countries,” he said.

Iran Summons German Envoy to Protest ‘Meddlesome’ Tweets

Iran Officially Announces Termination of UN Arms Embargo

The German ambassador to Tehran was summoned by the Director General of Europe Affairs at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, September 14, over the German Embassy’s recent tweets.

In the meeting, the Director General of Europe Affairs of the Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the German embassy’s move as a violation of the diplomatic norms and an interference in the internal affairs of Iran.

The Iranian diplomat underlined that meddling in Iran’s laws, regulations and independent judicial procedures is by no means acceptable or tolerable, saying the German Embassy is expected to know the limits of its diplomatic mission and not to go beyond them.

The German ambassador said he would convey the issue to his government.

The envoy was summoned after the German Embassy criticized the execution of Navid Afkari, an Iranian wrestler convicted of murder, in a series of tweets.

Iran Denies Alleged Attempt to Assassinate US Envoy to S Africa

Iran Denies Alleged Attempt to Assassinate US Envoy to S Africa

In a statement on Monday, the Foreign Ministry spokesman described the Politico report as “custom-ordered, biased and purposeful”, which cites the remarks made by a purportedly US government official in an attempt to make it look real.

“We advise the American officials to stop resorting to hackneyed and worn-out methods for anti-Iran propaganda in the international arena,” he added.

“As a responsible member of the international community, the Islamic Republic of Iran has proved its constant commitment to the international diplomatic principles and norms. Conversely, it is the United States and the incumbent regime at the White House that has ignored the basic diplomatic principles and has become a rogue regime in the international arena, particularly in recent years, with numerous measures out of line with internationally-accepted methods and norms, including masterminding and implementing tens of plots for assassination and military and intelligence interference, withdrawal from many international agreements, violating the territorial integrity of nations, and the cowardly assassination of General Qassem Soleimani, the honourable commander of the fight against terrorism,” the spokesman said.

Khatibzadeh then denounced such baseless allegations as those made in the recent anti-Iran report in the US media as part of the “Trump administration’s counter-intelligence campaign against Iran”, adding, “It was predictable that the United States regime would resort to anti-Iran accusations and falsification ahead of the US presidential election, coupled with that (US) regime’s pressures to abuse the United Nations Security Council’s mechanisms with the purpose of intensifying pressure on the people of Iran.”

“However, such measures and news fabrication that would possibly continue in the future will undoubtedly get nowhere and will add to the long list of Washington’s continuous defeats in the face of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the spokesman noted.

“As announced repeatedly, the Islamic Republic of Iran will press on with international legal action at all levels in connection with the criminal and cowardly assassination of General Soleimani, and will neither forgive nor forget the act of terrorism,” he concluded.

His comments came after American magazine Politico cited the US government officials as saying that Iran is weighing an assassination attempt against the American ambassador to South Africa to avenge the assassination of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.

The top Iranian general was assassinated in a US airstrike near Baghdad airport on January 3.
