Iran’s President Congratulates Tajik Counterpart on Re-Election

In a message on Monday, President Rouhani warmly congratulated the Tajik leader on his re-election as the president of Tajikistan.

The Iranian president also expressed confidence that the cultural and historical commonalities between the two friendly and brotherly nations would allow the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Tajikistan to further grow in all fields during President Rahmon’s new term for the fulfillment of the common interests and strengthening regional peace and stability.

He finally wished the Tajik president and nation health and prosperity.

Rahmon, 68, secured another seven-year term after garnering 90 percent of votes in a nationwide poll in Tajikistan.

Around 85 per cent of the country’s five million eligible voters handed in their ballots, according to authorities.

US Election Developments of No Concern to Iran: Spokesman

US Election Developments of No Concern to Iran: Spokesman

Saeed Khatibzadeh told reporters on Monday that Iran will only act in line with safeguarding its national security, regardless of what events are unfolding in the United States’ election arena.

“As for the US presidential race, it is none of our business, at all, whose election campaign it is and who benefits from what,” he said.

“Our response is a clear one. We do not consider who benefits from our response, after all. We will do whatever which is in line with our defence policies. Whoever, with whatever intention and whatever analysis, encroaches upon the realm of our security will receive a slap in the face,” he added.

“And it is not important in whose interest or to whose detriment our response will be. This is a domestic issue. Iran’s policy is a calculated one,” the spokesman noted.

Khatibzadeh said Iran talks to the United States from a position of strength.

“Our language is one of power. When talking to Washington, we are not using a language of fear as the Europeans do. When talking to Washington, we do not use the language that US cronies in the region use. Our language is the one used by a country with thousands of years of civilization and history, a country with power and with an understanding of its potential as well as of the United States’ numerous weaknesses in the region and in the world,” he said.

“The spokesman then warned the United States against making any strategic mistake in dealing with Iran.

“It will be a nightmare for the US if it makes a strategic mistake in understanding Iran’s response,” he said.

“We have already said it, and say it again. Whatever comment Washington is making nowadays is more out of fear than power. They are worried about Iran’s response. Iran would give a response neither to please nor to offend anyone. Iran would give a response, without any tolerance, to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and people’s interests.,” he said.

Iran Shatters One-Day Record of COVID-19 Deaths for 2nd Day in Row

Over 10,000 Iranians Contract COVID-19 in 24 Hours

In her press briefing on Monday, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima-Sadat Lari said the new deaths increase the overall death toll to 28,816.

She also reported 4,206 new cases of COVID-19 infection, raising the total number of cases to 504,281.

So far, she added, 409,121 patients have recovered from the disease or been discharged from the hospital.

Lari said 4,533 patients are also in critical conditions caused by more severe infection.

The spokeswoman noted that 4,340,831 COVID-19 tests have been taken across the country so far.

She said the high-risk “red” zones include Tehran, Qom, Mazandaran, East Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Yazd, Ardabil, Khorasan Razavi, Khuzestan, Hamadan, West Azarbaijan, Bushehr, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Alborz, Lorestan, Markazi, Ilam, South Khorasan, Kermanshah, North Khorasan, Semnan, Gilan, Zanjan, Qazvin, and Kerman provinces.

The “orange” zones also include Golestan, Hormozgan, Kurdistan, and Fars provinces, she added.

Tehran Berates Europe for Failing to Fulfil Commitments

Tehran Berates Europe for Failing to Fulfil Commitments

Speaking in a Monday press conference, Saeed Khatibzadeh said Europe is expected to make good on its obligations.

“We just expect them to abide by their commitments. With regards to the JCPOA, Europe has, unfortunately, made its credibility hostage to Washington’s satisfaction. We have told them, time and again, that this is a wrong strategy,” the spokesman said at his weekly press conference.

“We believe whoever dictates these orders in Washington, and whoever executes these orders in the world, are accomplices to the crime being committed against the Iranian nation,” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Khatibzadeh noted that Iran is doing its utmost to meet domestic needs for food and medicines despite Washington’s sanctions.

“Although the US has put serious restrictions on food and drug sales to Iran, this does not relieve the [Iranian] government of its responsibility [to provide those items], and the government is working seriously despite all difficulties, and the burden is on our shoulders and we shouldn’t pass the buck to the people, and we should make every effort,” he said.

The spokesman underscored that US sanctions are turning into a toothless means.

“Victory is close at hand. Despite these anti-Iran shows, the United States’ anti-Iran sanctions are on their last legs. The sanctions have come to a point where they are devouring and defeating themselves. If you overuse a tool, it will no longer be effective,” he said.

“The United States is frantically using the dollar against other currencies, is frantically using monetary and financial mechanisms to control the whole monetary system of the world, is frantically using sanctions against anyone who does not submit to the US,” said the spokesman.

“These moves have led to the awakening of the world and resulted in the formation of many alternative mechanisms, including transactions using domestic currencies, barter exchanges, etc. This is just the beginning, and the more we move forward, the more the US will realize that it has suffered a strategic defeat due to its tactical mistakes,” he said.

Rascals in US Driveling about Iran’s Defence Power: Leader

Rascals in US Driveling about Iran’s Defence Power

In comments on Monday, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Washington authorities are scared of Iran’s power.

“These words of drivel are due to their fear as well as backwardness in this domain, but we must maintain this logical system of calculation despite their propaganda campaigns,” said the Leader at a graduation ceremony for Armed Forces cadets.

“No one’s mind should be distracted by the ballyhoo raised by scoundrels ruling the US nation,” he said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said having a proper assessment of threats and potentialities in the areas of “defence power”, “economic strength and stability” and “cultural potential and power” is the prerequisite to maintaining national might and identity and preserving national interests.

The Leader described “defence power” as one of the pillars of national might.
He underlined if nations are bereft of defence power, countries such as the US and a few others, which seek to launch aggression against, encroach upon and abuse other peoples, will not leave nations alone and put their tentacles on whatever they have.

Iran’s President Urges Expansion of Ties with Spain

Iran's President Urges Expansion of Ties with Spain

President Rouhani on Monday sent separate messages to King of Spain Philip VI and to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, congratulating them on the national day of Spain, known as the Fiesta Nacional de Espana.

The president expressed hope that the joint efforts by Tehran and Madrid would strengthen the friendship between the two nations, help remove the obstacles, enhance the relations in
all fields, and promote the international cooperation.

In the message to the Spanish king, President Rouhani said Iran and Spain enjoy close and historical relations that provide a basis for friendship between the two nations and stronger bonds in future.

The Iranian president also said in the message to the Spanish prime minister, “Constructive interaction and expansion of relations on the basis of mutual respect and interests with the friendly country of Spain, as one of the major European Union states, has been a priority of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past years.”

In the letters, President Rouhani also wished the Spanish leaders and nation health, success and prosperity.

Iran Deplores Violation of Nagorno-Karabakh Ceasefire

Iran Condemns Canada’s Human Rights Resolution

“The Islamic Republic of Iran deplores the violation of a ceasefire announced amid the recent clashes between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, calls on the two parties to exercise more self-restraint, condemns the missile attacks on the vital infrastructure, the residential areas of cities, and the killing of civilians, and expresses sympathy with the bereaved families,” Khatibzadeh said in a statement on Monday.

He made the remarks in reaction to the violation of ceasefire between Baku and Yerevan in the fighting over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran once again calls on the two sides to remain committed to the ceasefire and resume their talks within the framework of the international law, respect for the territorial integrity of each other, and evacuation of the occupied cities,” he added.

The spokesman then expressed Iran’s readiness to help facilitate the negotiations for achieving permanent and sustainable peace and solution in the region.

The Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia have accused each other of violating the terms of a ceasefire in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region brokered by Russia.

While the ceasefire was supposed to halt fighting to allow ethnic Armenian forces in Nagorno-Karabakh and Azeri forces to swap prisoners and war dead, both sides accused each other of breaking the truce within minutes after it took effect on Saturday.

The discovery was made during the fourth stage of archaeological excavations at the location of water canals at the internationally recognized site of Persepolis.

The excavations were aimed at unearthing the southern part of one of the canals leading to an unfinished gate to the historical site.

No picture of the high relief figure has been presented to media, yet.

Archaeologists working at the site say the human face is carved onto a piece of rock at the site, where new skeletons of humans and animals have also been dug out.

Remnants of other carved figures have also been discovered at the site.

Iran, Kenya to Discuss Mutual Sci-Tech, Trade Cooperation

Iran, Kenya to Discuss Mutual Sci-Tech, Trade Cooperation

The meeting between Iranian knowledge-based companies and the Kenyan team is an opportunity provided by the Centre for International Science and Technology Transactions of the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology of Iran.

It is an opportunity for those working in the agriculture, water, environment and renewable energies sectors to sit face to face and hold talks on the promotion of mutual trade and technological ties.

The meeting is due to be held on October 12, 2020.

The market in Kenya all the way to the east of the African continent serves as an ideal opportunity for Iranian producers.

Inexpensive workforce, a lack of customs barriers and the existence of untapped economic potentialities bear testimony to that fact.

Iran should realize that the African continent, with a population of 1.2 billion, is a large and intact market which should be utilized.

Kenya is the choice of the Center for International Science and Technology Transactions of the Presidential Office which aims to explore the market in that country for Iranian knowledge-based firms.

Kenya is a country which has cordial relations Iran and has an economically viable market; however, Kenya is hosting only a small part of Iran’s economic and production potential.
