Iran and Tajikistan stressed implementation of agreements

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon were speaking at a joint press briefing in Tehrsn on Monday.

Raisi described Rahmon’s visit to Tehran as a turning point in efforts to strengthen relations. He added that the ties between Tehran and Dushanbe are beyond merely being neighbors and are based on historical, cultural and lingual commonalities.

Raisi noted that he does not put any restrictions on relations with Tajikistan, saying there is a huge potential for expansion of ties in trade, energy, tourism, medicine and pharmaceutics, and other areas.

The Iranian president said Tajikistan’s growth is Iran’s growth. Raisi underlined that strengthening the Iran-Tajikistan ties will result in expansion of their regional and international cooperation.

The president said Iran and Tajikistan’s regional concerns are instability in Afghanistan and fight against extremism and organized crime. He added that the two countries share the belief that the presence of foreign forces will never bring security to the region.

The Tajik president for his part described the Iran-Tajikistan ties as deep and friendly.

He said the two countries took effective steps toward expanding their ties after last year’s visit by Raisi to Tajikistan and the boosting of Iran’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

He however noted that this level of ties is not enough given the quality of the political ties of the two sides.

The Tajik president noted that his country and Iran have common views and concerns about regional issues and this can strengthen their regional and international cooperation.

In a message to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Aliyev sympathized with those who lost loved ones in the incident as well as the people and government of Iran.

The Azeri president expressed hope that the injured will recover quickly.

Many world countries have offered condolences over the collapse of Metropol Building in Abadan that killed dozens.

Around 40 people are said to have been trapped under the rubble.

In a phone talk with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, President Raisi expressed satisfaction over the progressing movement of the Iraqi nation towards unity, and the interactions among various groups for establishment of the new Iraqi government, and argued that the approval of a law on prohibition of naturalizing relations with the Zionist regime at the Iraqi Parliament was a blessed act.

On the prevailing dust storms in Iraqi and Iranian cities, President Raisi stated that the climate change is not restricted to any certain country and no borders are limits for the climatic phenomena.

He asked every country in the region to heed their responsibilities regarding this problem and act urgently.

The Iranian president added that development of connection routes between the two countries leads to broader economic ties and regional stability, stressing that Iran-Iraq railway project needs to become complete faster.

The Iraqi prime minister, for his part, appreciated Iran’s support for the Iraqi Parliament’s decision to ban naturalizing ties with Israel.

Mustafa Al-Kadhmi noted that Palestine issue is a top concern for the world Muslims as the entire freedom and justice seekers in the world favor the liberation of Palestine.

He also assured President Raisi that the completion of Shalamcheh-Basra railroad will be followed up seriously.

Al-Kadhimi also referred to his meeting with the head of the Iranian Environment Protection Organization about the dust problem and the practical acts that each country must pursue within the framework of an MOU.

He added that in the first three months after getting two shots of vaccine, people are 70 percent immune to the Omicron variant and its sub-strains and after six months, the immunity decreases to 50-60 percent.

The official noted that’s why authorities are placing emphasis on vaccination.

In a post on her Instagram account, Ms. Campdeli said, “My first trip to Iran was a wonderful adventure with companions that filled me with love for this magnificent land.”

She added that 9 days are too short a period but “I will definitely keep in mind the fragrance, the taste, the beauty, the nature and the works of art that I saw.”

The manager of the Iranian national volleyball team added that she was lucky that she managed to visit Iranian cities because the “joyful” trip let me become familiar with the country and take a more indepth look at the Iranian culture.”

The presidents oversaw a ceremony where national anthems of the two countries were played before inspecting the guard of honor.

The two presidents were scheduled to head the meeting of high-ranking delegations from both sides and then attend a signing ceremony for several new cooperation agreements between the two countries.

Rahman’s visit is the first of the Tajik leader to Iran after almost 9 years.

 

Iran seizes ship carrying smuggled fuel

“Smugglers sought to transfer the shipment to one of the Persian Gulf countries, and the vessel was identified and detained in an integrated operation by marine guards,” Director General of Hormozgan’s Judiciary Mojtaba Ghahremani said.

Ghahremani added that nine crew members of the ship are also in detention for investigation and other legal processes.

He also noted that the fuel seized from the ship has been transferred to the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company to return to the distribution cycle of the country.

Due to the relatively low prices of fuel compated to the neighboring countries, Iran frequently seizes smuggled fuel in its southern waters.

The governor of Khouzestan Province in souhern Iran, earlier also said 38 people remain missing.

Rescue workers have also pulled dozens of people alive from the site.

The unfinished Metropol Building, located on Abadan’s busiest street, crumbled last Monday, leaving dozens trapped in the ruins.

Officials are blaming faulty construction practices for the incident.
