Minister Details Iran’s Anti-Terror Raids: VIDEO

Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi disclosed more details of recent operations that foiled a series of terrorist attacks across the country and led to the arrest of a number of Takfiri-Wahhabi terrorists.

Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi disclosed more details of recent operations that foiled a series of terrorist attacks across the country and led to the arrest of a number of Takfiri-Wahhabi terrorists.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Tuesday, June 22, Alawi said a series of operations to arrest the terrorists began on June 14 and continued until June 20.

Back on Monday, the Intelligence Ministry announced in a statement that its agents had thwarted a major plot by the Takfiri-Wahhabi groups for a series of bombing raids across the country during religious events in the holy month of Ramadan.

Elsewhere in his comments, Alawi said 10 Takfiri-Wahhabi terrorists had been arrested in Tehran and three border and central provinces, noting that intelligence investigations inside and outside the country and interrogation of the terrorists are still underway.

According to the minister, the terrorists had masterminded different operations including planting bombs, detonation of remote control bombs, suicide attacks, and blowing up explosive-laden vehicles.

The terrorists wanted to carry out bombing raids in crowded locations, and had located 50 targets, the minister explained, saying they had even prepared the explosive material for some of the attacks and were preparing or receiving some for the others.

Alawi said 100kg of ready explosive material and precursor chemical compounds were confiscated in the operations, while the intelligence activities blocked the delivery of 2 tons of explosive materials to the terrorists.

The video shows an operation by Iran’s intelligence forces in which one Takfiri terrorist was arrested and a car bomb seized.

This week’s extensive operation came after three successive attacks on terrorist groups along the Iranian borders in the previous week.

On June 13, troops from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force killed five members of the Party for Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK) terrorist group in an ambush in Sardasht region in the north-western province of West Azerbaijan.

On the same day, Iranian police forces killed five members of the Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group in an exchange of fire in the south-eastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, while a trooper was also martyred.

And on June 15, IRGC forces killed a number of militants in clashes with two terrorist teams trying to intrude into the Oshnavieh border area near the frontier with Iraq.
