Iran-Russia-Turkey Meeting on Syria Advanced to Tuesday

Iran, Russia and Turkey will hold a trilateral meeting in Moscow on the Syrian situation on December 20, one week earlier than the date previously announced.

According to a report by IFP, the meeting had been scheduled for December 27 based on Iran’s initiative, but it was advanced to Tuesday, December 20, during the Saturday talks between Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

The two sides further conferred on the latest developments in Syria, particularly the situation in the hotspot Aleppo province, and agreed to reschedule the trilateral meeting to an earlier date due to the recent developments, Mehr reported.

Also on Friday, Zarif and his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in their latest out of several telephone conversations in recent days, mulled over safe exit of civilians from Aleppo as well as the ceasefire which came into force on Wednesday evening.
