Shooter Khedmati Wins Gold at Olympic Games Training Camp

Iranian female sports shooter Najmeh Khedmati has put on an awe-inspiring display of skills at the Olympic Games Training Camp in France, and managed to snatch a gold medal.

On Sunday, the 20-year-old 2014 Asian Games gold medallist vied for the top honour in women’s 50-metre rifle 3-position individual contests in the north-eastern French commune of Volmerange-les-Mines, recording an impressive score of 459.1 points to claim the gold medal.

Italian Petra Zublasing scored 458.9 points to receive the silver. Laurence Brize, a female sports shooter from the host nation, won the bronze medal with a final score of 445.4.

Separately, Mahlagha Jambozorg, another Iranian sports shooter, managed to improve her own national record of 586 points to 587 in her march to the final round.

She, however, delivered a lacklustre performance in the last round of the competitions, and finished in the seventh place with 401.5 points.

The Olympic Games Training Camp started in Volmerange-les-Mines, France, on June 9 and will run through to June 14.

Dozens of male and female sports shooters from several countries, including the Czech Republic, France, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, Poland and the United States, are taking part in the tournament.
