Iran kills 18 terrorists in Sistan and Baluchistan province

Iran Police

Seyyed Majid Mir Ahmadi, Deputy Interior Minister of Security and Law Enforcement, provided updates on the situation, revealing that among the casualties were ten Iranian
security  forces.

Mir Ahmadi said despite the terrorists’ ambitions to seize key military and police headquarters in Rask and Chabahar, their plans were thwarted by the vigilance and bravery of security forces.

He went on to say that the operation to thwart the terrorists faced challenges as they resorted to using innocent people as human shields, though all hostages were safely released.

Investigations are underway to determine the identity of the attackers, with initial reports suggesting they are non-Iranian.

Additionally, two supporting elements facilitating the presence of terrorists in Chabahar have been apprehended.

People in northern Gaza living on less than a can of beans per day: Report

Gaza War

The latest breakdown of caloric intake by Oxfam International means that Palestinians in northern Gaza are consuming less than 12 percent of the recommended daily 2,100 calories needed.

Oxfam also found that the total food deliveries allowed into Gaza for the entire 2.2 million population amounted to an average of just 41 percent of the daily calories needed per person.

“Israel is making deliberate choices to starve civilians. Imagine what it is like, not only to be trying to survive on 245 calories day in, day out, but also having to watch your children or elderly relatives do the same,” said Amitabh Behar, Oxfam’s executive director.

Oxfam said that in order stave off famine, an “absolute minimum” of 221 trucks of food alone were needed every day in the enclave. Currently, Israel is allowing just 105 food trucks on average to enter Gaza, Oxfam added.

Tel Aviv ordered a total siege of Gaza after the Hamas-led 7 October attacks on southern Israel, but has denied allegations it is blocking aid, blaming it on aid organisations’ inability to deliver supplies and “lawlessness”.

Aid organisations widely dispute that claim. Israel’s targeting of aid workers was underlined on Tuesday after three Israeli strikes killed seven workers from the NGO World Central Kitchen (WCK). The organisation said the strike took place despite coordination with the Israeli military about its movements. WCK’s founder and celebrity chef Jose Andres said Israel “systematically” targeted aid workers. Israel called the strike a “grave mistake”.

Israel has also announced it will no longer work with Unrwa, the UN agency for Palestinians, and the largest aid organisation in Gaza distributing food before the war. It has now blocked their access to the besieged enclave.

Oxfam’s report comes as starvation stalks Gaza. The UN has warned that famine is “imminent” in the enclave’s north. On Friday, a US official said famine was “quite possibly” already present. Dozens of children have died of malnutrition and dehydration in the besieged enclave.

The UN’s top court has ordered Israel to ensure the “unhindered” delivery of food and other aid to Gaza.

“Israel is ignoring both the International Court of Justice order to prevent genocide and UN Security Council resolutions. Only last week the ICJ ordered new provisional measures, stating famine is no longer looming, but ‘setting in’ in Gaza,” Behar stated, adding that Oxfam demanded all countries stop supplying arms to Israel and a permanent ceasefire.

Israel halts home leave for combat troops over fear of Iran’s revenge

Israel Army

“In accordance with the situational assessment, it has been decided that leave will be temporarily paused for all IDF (army) combat units,” the army said in a statement.

“The IDF is at war and the issue of the deployment of forces is constantly reviewed as needed,” it added.

On Monday, Israeli warplanes bombed the Iranian consulate in Damascus, located next to the embassy building. The attack killed two senior Iranian military personnel who were on an advisory mission to Syria as well as five of their accompanying officers.

Iran has accused Israel of carrying out the raid and vowed to respond to the deadly strike.

According to Israeli media, authorities in Tel Aviv consider the opening of shelters amid Iranian threats of retaliating the attack.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army decided to call up reserve soldiers to its Aerial Defense Array, in a move termed by local media as a precautionary measure against possible retaliatory attacks from Iran.

Gaza death toll tops 33,000

Gaza War

Another 92 people have been wounded, bringing the total to 75,668 since the start of the war.

The Government Media Office in Gaza said on Wednesday more than 24,000 Palestinian women and children have been killed in the Israeli army’s attacks on Gaza over the past six months, adding that the Israeli army “has committed 2,922 massacres in the Strip since October 7, 2023.”

A total of 14,500 children and 9,560 women were killed, 7,000 people were under the rubble or missing.

It said that 73 percent of those exposed to Israeli attacks in Gaza were women and children, adding that 17,000 children in Gaza live without one or both of their parents.

Reminding the starvation in Gaza, the media office added that 30 children lost their lives due to malnutrition and dehydration.

It noted that 484 healthcare workers, 140 journalists and 65 civil defence personnel have also been killed.

The number of injured people who are in serious conditions and need to be treated abroad is 11,000 and 10,000 cancer patients are at risk of death due to inadequate health care.

Israeli soldiers have detained 310 healthcare workers and 12 journalists, and 2 million people were displaced in the blockaded territory.

Some 70,000 houses were completely destroyed in Gaza, and 290,000 houses were damaged and became uninhabitable.

The Israeli army damaged 297 mosques in Gaza, 229 of which were completely destroyed, and targeted three churches, causing destruction.

It also targeted 159 health institutions in Gaza, put 53 health centres and 32 hospitals out of service, and made 126 ambulances unusable.

Israel has pounded the Palestinian enclave since a cross-border attack by resistance group Hamas, which killed nearly 1,200 people.

The Israeli war, now in its 181st day, has pushed 85% of Gaza’s population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which last week asked it to do more to prevent famine in Gaza.

Russia denies reports over receiving advance warning from US on Moscow attack

Moscow Terror Attack

“We are so accustomed to American fabrications in the informational sphere, followed by their immediate disavowal of their own claims, that I would very much like to ask you to get some concrete facts from the American side on this issue. Meaning, to whom they handed this information over to, exactly,” she said, commenting on The Washington Post daily report.

Previously, the newspaper claimed citing US officials that the US warned the Russian authorities two weeks in advance that the Crocus City Hall music venue could be targeted in an attack.

On March 22, a terror attack was carried out in the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region. According to the latest reports, 144 people died and 551 were injured.

Ten people were arrested under the case, including 4 attackers. The Russian Investigative Committee announced it has proof that the attackers have ties to Ukrainian nationalists.

Israel ‘systematically’ targeted aid workers in Gaza: World Central Kitchen founder

Gaza War

Andres said that WCK maintained transparent communication with the Israeli military, adding that the military was informed about the movements of his aid workers.

This was not a “bad luck situation where, ‘oops,’ we dropped the bomb in the wrong place,” Andres continued.

“Even if we were not in coordination with the [Israel army], no democratic country and no military can be targeting civilians and humanitarians.”

Andres stated he was supposed to be in Gaza with his team but for different reasons “wasn’t able to go back again to Gaza.”

The WCK has called for an “independent, third party investigation” into the Israeli raids.

“We have asked the governments of Australia, Canada, the United States of America, Poland, and the United Kingdom to join us in demanding an independent, third-party investigation into these attacks, including whether they were carried out intentionally or otherwise violated international law,” the statement read.

“An independent investigation is the only way to determine the truth of what happened, ensure transparency and accountability for those responsible, and prevent future attacks on humanitarian aid workers.”

The incident drew condemnation from the international community, including from the staunchest allies of Israel, such as the US and the UK, and other nations whose citizens were among the dead.

Iranians stage popular maritime parade in support of Gaza

Over 600 vessels sent the solidarity message in the Persian Gulf, southern Iran.

The program was also organized in 13 other port cities across the country, in the Sea of Oman, in the south, and the Caspian Sea, north of Iran.

The protestors onboard the vessels flew the Palestinian flags and demanded a ceasefire in Gaza.

Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon also held similar parades to condemn the Israeli regime for killing over 33,000 Palestinians in its carnage that started on October 7.

The show of solidarity came a day before the International Quds Day, designated by the late founder of Iran’s Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, on the last Friday of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, when worldwide rallies are held to support the Palestinian cause.

Iranian daily: Government’s economic reports in conflict with people’s daily life

Iran Economy

In an article on Thursday, Jomhouri-e Eslami slammed the government for creating “worrying economic situation,” and “releasing statistics that are in contrast with the people’s livelihood.”

The scathing article comes just days after Iranian minister of economy told a press conference that Iran’s economic growth last year was higher than the previous years.

Ehsan Khandouzi also said Iran’s economy is going through a positive trend and the indicators point to a ‘serious boom’.

However, two weeks into the new the Persian New Year, Jomhouri-e Eslami painted a conflicting picture with the official report, writing, “This year, like the previous year, from the first days of Farvardin (the first month on the Iranian calendar), prices have started to increase and the value of the national currency plunged.”

The rial’s parity rates with the dollar have sharply plummeted since the past weeks and many people prefer to keep gold instead of the national currency.

“People, especially the poor and middle class, look at the economic situation with concern, but unfortunately, what is observed in practice is that the officials continue to give statistics that are in contrast with the people’s livelihood,” the daily wrote.

US says sent message to Iran following Israel’s Syria attack

Iran US Flags

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, Miller noted that the message said the United States “was not involved” in Monday’s deadly airstrikes on the consular annex of Iran’s embassy in Damascus.

“I will just say that we made very clear to the Iranians that we had no involvement in this strike, we didn’t know about it at the time, and we warned them not to use this attack as a pretext to attack US facilities or personnel,” he added.

Asked whether messages were conveyed to Iran through an intermediary, he replied, “We have the ability to send messages, very clear messages, to Iran both directly and indirectly, and we do so when it’s in our interest.”

On Monday afternoon, Israeli warplanes bombed the Iranian consulate, situated next to the embassy building in Damascus’s Mezzeh district.

The air raid killed 13 people, including seven members of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) who were on an advisory mission to Syria.

Iranian officials have emphasized the country’s right to deliver a firm response to the Israeli crime.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian stressed Israel’s biggest supporter, the United States, should be “answerable” over the terrorist attack that violated all international obligations and conventions.

Israeli opposition leader urges early elections amid “domestic turmoil”

Israel Hostages

In a video address, Gantz said Israel is facing “tremendous challenges” but that it must strive for unity, including with allies in the U.S., while criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not prioritizing the families of the roughly 100 hostages still held alive in Gaza by Hamas.

“They deserve to know that Israeli society is not against them but behind them,” Gantz stated, pledging to stand by the families of the hostages.

Gantz added Israel must agree to hold an election in September, presenting the first major call to action that will challenge the power of Netanyahu’s government.

The opposition leader said he talked to political leaders in Israel about a possible date for the new elections and added that he expected to continue dialogue with Netanyahu on the issue.

Gantz added elections will “increase trust and unity” in Israel and “give us a huge international backing that is needed”.

Israel is expected to not hold elections until 2026, but under a parliamentary system a snap election can be called to form a new government.

Gantz’s calls come just days after protests erupted in Israel, marking the largest demonstrations since the war began.

Israeli protesters expressed anger that the government has not reached a cease-fire deal with Hamas to free the hostages still left in Gaza.

The protests were a major show of force against the government of Netanyahu, who has worked to free the hostages but also remains committed to the elusive goal of destroying Hamas after fighters invaded southern Israel on Oct. 7, killing some 1,200 people and taking 250 hostages.

Netanyahu’s hard-line policies on Gaza have also angered the Joe Biden administration, which is trying to manage growing Democratic outrage in the U.S. after the war has killed more than 33,000 Palestinians.

In Israel, the remaining hostages in Gaza remain the biggest concern for the moment.

A cease-fire and hostage release deal has been out of reach since the last temporary one in November. Israel remains committed to destroying Hamas, while the Palestinian group is pushing for an end to the war.

Gantz stressed that Israel will “not ignore the disaster of the seventh of October and what preceded it” as he called for new elections.
