WHO warns condition in northern Gaza ‘catastrophic’

The whole health system in Gaza has been under attack for over a year. WHO cannot stress loudly enough that hospitals must be shielded from conflict at all times. Any attack of healthcare facilities is a violation of international humanitarian law.

Flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, Israel has continued a devastating offensive on Gaza since an attack last year by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.

Nearly 43,000 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 100,000 others injured, according to local health authorities.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.

Iran’s UN mission says US ‘complicit’ in Israeli attack

In a statement released on its official account on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, the Iranian mission noted that Israeli fighter jets conducted the attacks from Iraqi airspace, approximately 70 miles from the Iranian border.

“The Iraqi airspace is under the occupation, command, and control of the US military,” the statement asserted.

It concluded that “US complicity in this crime is certain”.

The Iranian Air Defense Forces said early Saturday morning that the country’s integrated air defense system successfully intercepted and countered the Israeli strikes targeting military locations in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces.

The attacks caused limited damage in some locations and the dimensions of the incident are under investigation, the statement added.

In a separate statement on Saturday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli air raids as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, reiterating the country’s right to defend itself against foreign acts of aggression.

Iran parliament speaker vows decisive response to Israeli aggression

In an open session on Sunday, Ghalibaf stated that comparing Iran’s Operation True Promise II on Israeli military and intelligence sites inside the occupied territories in October with Israel’s military aggression on Saturday clearly demonstrates the deterrent power of Iran’s defense forces.

He described Israel’s relatively weak military action against Iran as “a sign of desperation, resulting in another failure for the regime.”

The parliament speaker, however, reiterated that Article 51 of the United Nations Charter entitles Iran to defend itself and respond to the aggression “decisively and appropriately.”

Four Iranian military officers were killed in the Israeli attacks. The Iranian Air Defense announced that minor damage was inflicted on some radar systems.

Ghalibaf warned the United States, as Israel’s “main supporter and partner in all its war crimes,” to restrain Israel and enforce a sustainable ceasefire to prevent further instability in the region.

He also urged neighboring countries to condemn Israel’s aggressive actions and emphasized that regional stability can only be achieved through collective cooperation.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi shared excerpts from Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi’s letter to the UN Secretary General and Security Council members on X social media platform, revealing the serious nature of the attacks.

The letter reads, “Despite Iran’s air defense systems intercepting most of the missiles, four Iranian army officers were martyred while bravely defending the nation’s security.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the Zionist regime’s deliberate aggressions in strongest terms. These illegal attacks by the Israeli regime violate fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 2, Paragraph 4,” it added.

The letter has also warns that Israel’s actions pose a serious threat to international peace and security, leading to further regional instability.

In line with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, Iran maintains its inherent right to respond legally and appropriately to the criminal attacks at a suitable time, the foreign minister has asserted in his message.

“Given the continuous and systematic aggressions by the Israeli regime, Iran has urged the UN Secretary General and the Security Council to take a firm stance and explicitly and strongly condemn the Israeli regime for these aggressive actions,” the letter further reads.

Hezbollah orders ‘immediate’ evacuation of several settlements in northern Israel

In a video message posted on Telegram, Hezbollah addressed residents directly, stating, “You are requested to evacuate immediately. Your settlements have become a place for the deployment and stability of enemy military forces that are attacking Lebanon. As a result, they have become legitimate military targets for the air and missile power of the Islamic resistance.”

Israel expanded the conflict this year by launching a ground assault into southern Lebanon on Oct. 1.

More than 2,650 people have been killed and over 12,300 others injured in Israeli aggression since last year, according to Lebanese health authorities.
