Britain’s Biggest-Ever Trade Mission to Visit Iran in May

According to a report carried by the Financial Times on Wednesday, UK Business Secretary Sajid Javid will lead a huge delegation of British businessman to Iran in May.

The report added that there will be executives on the trip from across the oil and gas, financial services, infrastructure and engineering sectors.

Javid is expected to reveal details of the trip on Wednesday during Iran Summit in London.

“We can’t afford to stick with what we know,” he will say. “We have to secure new markets for British goods, new sources of foreign investment.”

Javid will, meanwhile, announce that the government’s export credit agency, UK Export Finance, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with its Iranian counterpart, the Export Guarantee Fund of Iran.

There has been growing international interest in trade ties with Iran since Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 finalized a comprehensive deal on Tehran’s nuclear program and implemented it on January 16.

The comprehensive nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions on Iran after coming into force.

Iran Does What Arabs Should Do for Themselves: Lebanese Politician

In an interview with Al Mayadeen TV, Wahhab deplored Arab countries’ inaction on the issue of Palestine, and praised Tehran’s assistance to the Palestinian nation.

“Do you know a single Arab regime, except for Syria, that has dared in all these years to give a single bullet to Palestinians to defend themselves against the Israeli enemy? Do you know any country in the Arab world that has given one bullet to Palestinians or Palestinian groups and institutions?” Wahhab asked.

“Yes, when Arabs showed inaction in supporting the Palestinian cause, Iran entered the scene; Yes, when Arabs were avoiding the Palestinian issue, it was Iran that backed the nation of Palestine and supplied them with the weaponry they needed,” he added.

Wahhab also slammed Arabs’ failure to support Lebanon, saying that when Lebanon was under occupation for 20 years and Arabs had kept silent on the issue, Iran stepped forward and, by assisting the Lebanese Resistance, it did not allow Lebanon to bow to the Israeli occupation anymore.

Also in the Syrian crisis, he added, Arabs not only showed inaction in supporting Damascus, but they even conspired with each other to topple the government and take revenge from the nation.

It was Iran that supported the Syrian nation and government against domestic and foreign enemies, Wahhab went on to say.

When Arabs decided to take action on Syria, the Lebanese politician noted, “We all saw how they supplied terrorists in Syria with their arms and money.”

“Yes, this is the extension of Iran’s influence, but this influence is in line with safeguarding the image of the Arab world,” he said.

When Arabs commit lots of mistakes to the detriment of themselves, Iran plays the role Arabs should have been playing for themselves, Wahhab stressed.

He also pointed to Iran’s presence in Iraq, saying that when the United States travels thousands of miles and gets itself to Iraq to ensure its security, Iran with hundreds of kilometers of shared borders with Iraq is surely allowed to look for its own interests.

“Iran has the right to take actions for ensuring its security,” Wahhab noted.

The measures taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran deserve to be appreciated, he said.

“Yes, I say and repeat that Iran’s stances deserve to be praised. We really thank the Islamic Republic of Iran for holding such positions. At least we should say it about the Iranian Establishment that Iran backs us, but does not humiliate us like others do,” Wahhab noted.

“Iran supports us, but does not want us to bow to it for the support. The Islamic Republic backs us while it tells us, ‘Do something to liberate your homeland.’ It asks us to defend this land, and not to allow it to be occupied again,” he added.

“Iran has never sought to humiliate us; Iran’s policy is in contrast to the policies of certain despicable princes. There are princes to whom I say, on behalf of the entire Lebanese nation, ‘I consider your kings ignoble and your princes … worthless. You are ignoble even if you are kings,” Wahhab noted.

Lebanon’s Hezbollah Foils Arab Countries’ Plots for Mideast

Elsewhere in the interview, the Lebanese politician showed reaction to a recent move by the (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council (P)(GCC) to label the Lebanese Resistance Movement, Hezbollah, as a “terrorist group”.

“In my opinion, the Arab littoral states in the Persian Gulf believe that Hezbollah has already prevented many of these countries’ projects in the region from being realized, particularly those projects by these littoral states for Lebanon, including a plot by Saudi Arabia, which have yet to succeed,” he noted.

“Now Riyadh has come to the conclusion that, with Hezbollah, this country cannot achieve anything in Lebanon,” he went on to say.

“Arab littoral states in the Persian Gulf have now concluded that Hezbollah is standing against the realization of their plots, even in Yemen,” Wahhab said.

“They believe Hezbollah has practically foiled their plots by backing Resistance groups,” he added.

Also in Syria, Wahhab noted, they have come to the conclusion that Hezbollah is part of their failure to realize their pre-planned plots for overthrowing the government of Syria. So they are pinning the blame for their defeat in Syria on Hezbollah.

They now know that the victories gained by the Syrian army and government inside the Arab country are partly achieved thanks to Hezbollah and its fighters in Syria, he added.

Therefore, he added, these Arab countries believe the Lebanese Hezbollah is one of the major factors behind the failure of their plots in four regional states of Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and even Lebanon.

Saudi Arabia’s plots for all of the four countries mentioned above have completely failed, he said, adding that such moves against Hezbollah by the PGCC are totally natural given the defeats they suffered in realizing their interests.

Iran Oil Export Up at 1.8 mb/d: NIOC Chief

Speaking at a company meeting on Wednesday, he said that post-sanctions development will be the main item on the oil industry’s agenda during the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan.

Hassan HosseiniHe set the 4-billion-barrel output as the next year’s target (starting March 21) and added, “The rising trend of oil exports will continue too.”

Javadi also said that NIOC is required to produce 2 billion barrels of oil a year to be able to carry out its development plans in terms of optimization of production, new explorations, and enhanced oil recovery.

The NIOC chief said that exploration will be the industry’s major policy to materialize the objectives stipulated by the resistive economy and that the new oil contract models are an opportunity to cooperate with foreign firms and upgrade Iranian firms’ capacity and performance.

Two prominent Ayatollahs blame Arab governments for breeding Daesh and praise Hezbollah

According to Khabar Online news outlet, Ayatollah Noori Hamedani, commenting on the statement issued by Persian Gulf Cooperation Council against Hezbollah said all member countries of the Council are under domination of the World of Arrogance and if they don’t rely on America and Zionist regime their vigilant nations will topple them.

This source of emulation said some of these Arabs tell us that visiting the Baqi Cemetery is polytheism but do not consider being under the yoke and praising America as polytheism.

He added that six member states of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council who have created Takfiris, Daesh and Boko Haram and are involved in killing of Yemeni and Bahraini people have termed Hezbollah as terrorist organization.

Meanwhile, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi reacting to terming Hezbollah as terrorist organization by some Arab countries said Hezbollah is the greatest source of pride and honor for Arabs because in absence of Hezbollah the Zionist regime would have made them miserable.

He added that in the Arab history no group is as brave as Hezbollah as this group broke the invincibility myth of Israel.

Iran needs nine atomic power plants in next decade

Behrouz Kamalvandi

Stressing that about 8 to 12 percent of the country’s electricity should be generated through atomic power plants, he said there is a great possibility for the construction of two new power plants on the basis of three international models.
As for the construction of new power plants, Kamalvandi said investment of domestic private sector or foreign investment should be used in this regard, adding that in the post-sanction era the issue has been warmly received.
He further remarked that in the post-sanction era a number of foreign meetings have been held and highly satisfactorily proposals have been received with regard to the construction of power plants in accordance with BOO, BOT, IPP and EPCF models which are highly beneficial for the country.
Kamalvandi noted that there is a competition among a number of countries for the construction of new atomic power plants in Iran and this prepare the ground for Iran to select the best options.
Referring to the misinterpretation of some media on the establishment of IAEA office in Iran, he said such an office will not be opened in Iran rather an Iran office will be opened in the Agency itself.

Iran exports 32 tons of heavy water to US

“We have entered the international market of nuclear materials. We have purchased 140 tons of yellow cake from Russia as well as 60 more tons from Kazakhstan,” Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, told a forum at the country’s Foreign Ministry.

“We have also sold about 10 tons of 3.5 percent enriched uranium to Russia. In fact, we have entered the international market of nuclear materials as an exporter.”

Araqchi did not specify when and how the export had been made, but he said it occurred after the implementation of a historic nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 – the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany – in mid-January.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) earlier in January announced that Iran plans to sell as much as 40 tons of its excess heavy water supplies to the US, adding that the landmark move will be made through a third party.

“Six tons of the exported heavy water will be used in nuclear facilities and the rest in American research centers,” Ali Asghar Zarean, a deputy head of the IAEO, had been quoted by the media as saying.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said last August that Iran will begin to commercialize its nuclear technology after the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“We will import yellow cake from abroad and we will export enriched UF6,” President Rouhani told reporters.

Iran and the P5+1 group of countries – the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany – agreed over the JCPOA last July. Based on it, Iran will restrict certain aspects of its nuclear energy activities in return for the removal of certain economic sanctions imposed against the country.

The JCPOA also allows Iran to sell its enriched uranium material – called UF6 – and to buy natural uranium or “yellow cake” in return.

22 people indicted over Saudi embassy attack: Iran

Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi on Tuesday said that 22 people will soon be sent to court over charges pertaining to damaging the Saudi embassy in Tehran.

The assaults on the embassy took place on January 2 during demonstrations by angry protesters censuring Saudi Arabia’s execution of top opposition cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

Top Iranian officials censured the incident that was followed by Riyadh’s severance of ties with Tehran.

Saudi Arabia executed Nimr along with 46 others, provoking international outrage, widespread condemnation, and a serious escalation of tensions in the region.

The Shia cleric was arrested in 2012 over charges of instigating unrest and undermining the kingdom’s security, making anti-government speeches and defending political prisoners, all of which he rejected as baseless.
