Iran, Indonesia Can Boost Muslim World Security: Rouhani

Rouhani- Iran- Indonesia

Rouhani made the remarks on Wednesday in Tehran at a joint press conference with his visiting Indonesian counterpar, Joko Widodo, after holding a bilateral meeting. The visit by the Indonesian leader, who is in the Iranian capital at the head of a delegation, was also preceded by a joint business event.

“I am in no doubt that this cooperation will benefit stability and security in the region and the Muslim world,” said the Iraniani

The Iranian chief executive said the bilateral ties have witnessed improvement since his 2015 visit to the Southeast Asian nation, and following the conclusion that year of a nuclear agreement between Tehran and six world powers.

“We value relations between Indonesia, as an important Muslim country in East Asia, and Iran, as an important country in West Asia,” he added.

Rouhani further said Iran will be providing Indonesia with crude oil, liquid gas and petrochemicals among other products, adding that Tehran and Jakarta have agreed that mutual trade take place directly, forgoing any third party.

The Indonesian president, in turn, described his trip to Tehran as a new chapter in Tehran-Jakarta relations, saying his talks earlier in the day focused on the promotion of bilateral ties in different areas, including energy and economy.

The visit also saw the signing of four cooperation agreements in the areas of reciprocal legal assistance in penal affairs, extradition of criminals to their respective countries, electricity and renewable energies, and promotion of mutual investment.

The countries’ private sectors also signed eight documents of cooperation towards deepening relations.

Also during the trip, the two sides agreed to cooperate in efforts to resolve the problems currently facing different parts of the Muslim world, including Yemen, Syria, and Myanmar.

An Indonesian delegation would be travelling to Tehran in less than two months to follow up execution of the signed documents.

General Highlights Iran’s Role in Aleppo Liberation

General Rahim Safavi

“Americans have realized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the top player in Southwest Asia, and its geopolitical weight has the greatest influence in the region,” Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said in Tehran on Wednesday, addressing a conference on C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence) in management and decision making.

He also said that the coalition made up of Iran- the leading regional power, Russia, Syria and the Lebanese Hezbollah contributed to the liberation of Syria’s northwestern city of Aleppo from terrorist groups, predicting that the Iraqi city of Mosul will be also retaken soon.

Requests from the governments of Syria and Iraq for Iran’s assistance in the fight against terrorism, Tehran’s positive response, and the victories gained by the coalition have all increased the Islamic Republic’s political weight, Rahim Safavi added, reminding US President-elect Donald Trump that Iran is the region’s number one power.

In October, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also referred to Iran as the leading power in the region, highlighting the country’s “undeniable” international clout.

“International circumstances have put Iran in such a premium position that… it has had undeniable influence on recent developments in the region and the world as the region’s top power,” Zarif said in an address to a conference of Iranian military attachés and representatives in foreign countries.

Malnutrition Kills One Yemeni Child in Every 10 Minutes: UNICEF

yemen

According to a report covered by Tasnim in Farsi, nearly 2.2 million Yemeni children are acutely malnourished, victims of the near-collapse of the health care system during two years of escalating conflict.

At least 462,000 are suffering from severe acute malnutrition, as food supplies have been disrupted by the devastating war waged by the Saudi-led coalition, the UNICEF report said.

The 20-month-old war on Yemen has left more than 7,000 people dead and nearly 37,000 wounded, the World Health Organization announced in its latest toll update.

As of Oct. 25, “more than 7,070 people have been killed and over 36,818 injured, according to health facility-based data,” the WHO said in a statement late Sunday. Another 21 million people are in need of urgent health services, said the UN health agency.

Republican Members of US Congress Vow to Fight Iran’s Deal with Boeing

plane

According to a report by IFP, GOP lawmakers had criticized the Chicago-based company when the deal was still being worked out in June. Reps. Peter Roskam, R-Ill., and Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, fired off a letter to Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg at the time warning the deal could weaponise the Islamic Republic.

In their letter, they claimed that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) “systematically uses commercial aircraft to transport troops, weapons, military-related parts, rockets and missiles to hostile actors around the world.”

They also claimed that such customers “have American blood on their hands.”

In the wake of Sunday’s announcement, the lawmakers showed no sign of budging, with a senior aide to Roskam telling FoxNews.com he intends to “aggressively fight” the deal in the next Congress, and expressing hope that the political winds would shift in their favour once President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

“The incoming appointees at Treasury and State will no longer report to a White House willing to bend over backward and ignore national security concerns to keep Iran from walking away from the nuclear deal,” the aide said.

Hensarling, meanwhile, called the deal “disappointing to say the least” and placed blame at the feet of President Obama.

“The President wants us to sell planes not just to this dangerous regime, but to an airline that his own Treasury Department sanctioned in 2011. President Obama even wants US banks to draw on American citizens’ deposits to finance Iran, a regime that Treasury calls ‘a jurisdiction of primary money laundering concern,’” Hensarling claimed.

“If a US financial institution attempts to bankroll Iran in the waning days of the Obama administration, it will have to answer to Congress,” he warned, as reported by Fox News.

The House already has passed measures opposing the sale, including a bill in November prohibiting the Treasury Department from financing aircraft sales to Iran. That bill has not yet gone to the Senate for consideration, and would almost certainly be vetoed by President Obama if it passed.

However, it is not clear what President-elect Trump would do with such legislation, and he has not yet commented on the Iran Air deal. While Trump has been a critic of the Iran nuclear agreement, he also has been an advocate for American manufacturing jobs, reaching out to both Ford and Carrier among other companies in an effort to keep jobs in the country.

In its announcement, Boeing framed the deal as one that would support American jobs, possibly as a way to sway the president-elect on the issue and stave off congressional dissent.

“Today’s agreement will support tens of thousands of US jobs directly associated with production and delivery of the 777-300ERs and nearly 100,000 US jobs in the US aerospace value stream for the full course of deliveries,” the company said, before noting it currently supports more than 1.5 million American jobs.

Other lawmakers backed the deal on the basis it woDonald Trumpuld create jobs for American workers.

“This deal is good news for Washington state and will help support the thousands of good-paying jobs in my district that rely on trade and Boeing’s ability to compete in the global marketplace.” Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., said in a statement.

Trump put Boeing on its toes earlier this month when he tweeted that he wants to cancel an order with the company for a new Air Force One, saying the costs are “out of control.”

The latest Boeing deal was made possible after trade sanctions on Iran were removed in January as part of the nuclear accord. The first planes are set to be delivered to Iran in 2018.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar Supporting Radical Muslims in Germany: Intelligence Report

saudi

According to a report by IFP, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar have increasingly been providing support to a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam, German media said, citing Germany’s foreign and domestic intelligence agencies.

Religious organizations from those three countries have been sending preachers to Germany as well as financing the construction of mosques and schools, the German “Süddeutsche Zeitung” newspaper and public service broadcasters NDR and WDR reported. The intelligence reports were conducted on the behalf of the German government.

By upping their support of Salafist missionary activities, the religious groups intend to spread the ultraconservative version of Islam in Germany, the intelligence reports said.

There are currently 9,200 people involved in the Salafist scene in Germany, but the government has concerns that the increased missionary work could swell their ranks. Berlin is also concerned that the groups could play a role in radicalizing Sunni refugees.

The German government has repeatedly called on the Saudi government to stop supporting radical Islamists in Germany. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, has said its religious organizations are a “stronghold” against the ISIS terrorist group.

Although Riyadh insists that the religious organizations are independent, Germany’s intelligence agencies concluded that the groups “are closely linked with state posts in their countries of origin.”

The intelligence reports also specifically named three religious organizations active in Germany that are believed to be supported by the state: the “Shaykh Eid Charity Foundation” from Qatar, the “Muslim World League” from Saudi Arabia and the “Revival of Islamic Heritage Society” (RIHS) from Kuwait.

In the case of RIHS, German domestic intelligence officials found that there was “essentially no difference” between its missionary work and the spreading of Takfiri [extremist] ideology, DW reported.

Since 2012, the group has used a real estate firm to influence the Islamist scene in Germany, the media reports said.

Tehran, Moscow Sign Several Investment Deals: Russian Minister

Alexander Novak

Addressing Iran-Russia Business Forum in Tehran, the Russian Energy Minister referred to inking of investment deals between economy ministries of the two countries, saying “tariffs on certain export commodities have been cut down and a customs green corridor has been launched.”

According to a report by Mehr, he further pointed to the accord on facilitating visa issuance between the two sides, asserting that both sides sought to resolve legal and banking issues as a means of boosting bilateral trade ties.

On replacement of dollar with national currencies of Iran and Russia, Novak said central banks and monetary institutions of the two countries have paved the path in this regard and money transfer is being performed.

Russian energy minister also noted that 10 major banks of Iran and Russia have embarked on the project and a team has also been put in charge of tackling existing banking difficulties.

He further maintained that several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on large-scale projects were inked last year, the details of which are being discussed.

“Economy ministers of both countries are also planning to allocate a 2.5-billion-dollar credit to proposals.”

The visiting official said one contract pertained to construction of Bushehr Power Plant and electrification of Iranian railways; “negotiations are also underway on sales of Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft to Iran.”

The Russian energy minister pointed to age-old energy ties between Tehran and Moscow over construction of power and nuclear plant, and said companies of both sides have also agreed on development of oil and gas field following the removal of international sanctions.

The talks also dealt with inking a free trade agreement with Eurasian Economic Union for which necessary steps have been taken and a free trade zone will be created.

He expressed hope that recent measures would trigger further economic activities between the two sides.

Iran, Czech Republic Sign MoU on Nuclear Cooperation

Behrouz Kamalvandi

According to a report by IFP, Behrouz Kamalvandi, Deputy Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) for International, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, led a delegation to Prague to pay a visit to the country’s Nuclear Research Institute (NIR) and Skoda auto factory.

Kamalvandi also held talks with senior Czech officials on expansion of bilateral cooperation in Prague on Tuesday, Mehr reported.

During his stay, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two sides on determining a framework for nuclear cooperation.

Back in August, Kamalvandi had stated that the AEOI was in talks with Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, China, Kazakhstan and many other countries on nuclear cooperation.

Iran Has a High Capacity to Develop Halal Tourism

Tourism-halal

Morteza Rahmani Movahed“Fortunately, our behavioural and religious principles, as well as our tourism regulations and infrastructure, are consonant with Islamic halal tourism doctrine, but we still have to progress in this field to meet the standards of tourism industry,” said Morteza Rahmani Movahed, the Tourism Deputy of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO).

He further noted that Iran has great potentials for developing halal tourism, according to a Farsi report by ICANA.

“Many studies and research have been carried out to resolve the problems of halal tourism marketing,” he noted.

“We have set standards and instructions to be imparted to tourism facilities. By meeting these expectations, we will see this industry boom in the future,” he added.

“We have recently issued several certificates for tourism offices in [northeastern holy city of] Mashahd for meeting halal tourism standards.”

Halal tourism is a subcategory of tourism which is geared towards Muslim families who abide by rules of Islam. The hotels in such destinations do not serve alcohol and have separate swimming pools and spa facilities for men and women.

Malaysia, Turkey, Iran and many more countries are trying to attract Muslim tourists from all over the world offering facilities in accordance with the religious beliefs of Muslim tourists.

Man of Nature: An Engineer Who Takes Care of Animals with His Family Members

Nader Noori

Nader Noori is a prominent Iranian engineer and the supervisor of several projects in Tehran subway. He has received his civil engineering degree from an American university and specialises in the field of subway system and earthquake.

However, Noori is also known as a man of nature: as long as he can remember, he has loved animals and kept them. Now he, along with his American wife, two sons and two daughters, his mother, his nephew, as well as some other family members, protects several animals in Qazvin Nature Village.

According to a Farsi report by Mehr, it has been six years that he has registered this house in Iranian Department of Environment as a centre for animal care and protection and environmental research. He takes the wounded, diseased or injured animals to this house to put ointment on the wounds inflicted by smugglers, hunters or the natural cycle.

Qazvin Nature Village is a unique project that benefits from experts’ advice on locating and keeping birds and animals, as well as technical and aesthetic aspects. The world’s most advanced parks were used as role models for this village.

The animals are selected to be transferred to the Nature Village based on their natural habitats. The next phase of developments in this Village consist of construction of specialised parks for snakes, crocodiles, and particular birds of prey, also reproduction and protection of animal species in danger of extinction. After the launch of this site, the purchase of snake venom has been minimized.

“Get the adequate food for each animal in the park, and give it to them in the correct way,” we read on the boards instead of “Don’t feed animals”. In the first phase of Nature Village, the hunter, ornamental, and aquatic animals, reptiles and ruminants were added to the park.

By bringing carnivorous animals in the second phase, and the animals in danger of extinction during the third phase, the park is to be completed.

At the end, Noori talks about his wish to see a day when no smuggler and no hunter has access to animals.

“I wish to see the day when cheetahs don’t escape to mountains because of human violation of their territory; when all people understand the nature’s mysteries and bring to their lives the love that flows in the essence of nature.”

Senior Iranian Security Official Congratulates Syria on Aleppo Liberation

Shamkhani

On Tuesday, Shamkhani stated that the Syrian government’s strategy to give the remaining terrorists safe passage from east of Aleppo was a key move towards reducing human casualties and further destruction of the city that can be used as a crisis management strategy in other regions.

Hailing the Syrian nation’s heroic resistance and historic victory against Western and regional sponsored terrorism, Shamkhani reiterated Iran’s stance on a diplomatic solution for the Syrian crisis.

“Military victories cannot replace political solutions based on talks between the Syrian government and armed groups aimed at national reconciliation,” he said.

He added that Syrian forces emerged victorious in Aleppo despite all the propaganda against them.

Earlier, Russia’s UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin announced that fighting in Aleppo has come to an end, and that the Syrian government has established control over all of the city.

Less than a month ago, the Syrian army started a wholesale push to drive the militants out of their stronghold in the city’s eastern side, making great strides in the process.

Since March 2011, Syria has been hit by militancy it blames on some Western states and their regional allies. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the UN have put the death toll from the Syria conflict at more than 300,000 and 400,000, respectively. This is while the UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
