8000-Year-Old Stone Works Discovered in Iran

8000-Year-Old Stone

“40 stone works dating back to more than 8,000 years ago have been discovered and collected in Chaldoran, northwestern Iran,” announced Moharram Abdollahpour, the Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) office in Chaldoran.

“These stone works had been used in cooking, ranching, bathing, marking graves and building in Neolithic, pre-historic, Islamic and contemporary eras.”

“Such pieces as stony lion, capital, millstone, tombstone, quern-stone, laver and masher will be publicly displayed in Chaldoran ICHTO office,” he added.

According to a Farsi report by IRNA, Abdollahpour went on to say that there are more than 100 nationally registered monuments in Chaldoran. One of them, The Monastery of Saint Thaddeus, has been registered in UNESCO World Heritage List.

Chaldoran is named after a historic war between Iranian army led by Ismail I, Safavid king, and Ottoman forces of Suleiman I in August 1514; in which the low-numbered Iranians were defeated by the large, well-equipped Ottoman army.

Iranian Judiciary Chief Condemns Bahraini Regime’s Execution of Dissidents

Amoli Larijani

Sami Mushaima, Abbas Jamil Tahir al-Sami and Ali Abdulshahid al-Singace on Sunday faced the firing squad, six days after a court in Bahrain upheld their death sentences over allegations of involvement in a bomb attack some three years ago.

Speaking in a meeting of the Iranian Judiciary’s senior officials in Tehran on Monday, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani censured the Al Khalifa regime for putting the three to death for merely protesting against the Bahraini regime’s oppressive acts.

Noting that the Al Khalifa regime does not even recognize the citizens’ right to vote, he described the resistance of the people of Bahrain as a big test for the countries that claim to advocate human rights, criticizing them for their silence over the crackdown in Bahrain and for failing to hear the voices of Bahrainis, who are being killed by weapons provided to Manama by these very countries.

On January 9, Bahrain’s Court of Cassation upheld the death penalties given to the three young activists over allegations of killing a member of Emirati forces who had been assisting Manama in its suppression of Bahraini protesters in the northern village of al-Daih back in March 2014. Seven other convicts have also been sentenced to life in prison in the case.

The defendants had denied the charges.

Bahrainis took to the streets in cities and towns across the country on Sunday and Monday to condemn the ruling regime for the executions.

Manama has given a heavy-handed security response to peaceful popular protests, which first began in early 2011. The clampdown has cost scores of lives. Later during the popular uprising, the regime called in Saudi and Emirati reinforcements to help it muffle dissent.

Iran to Sell $41bn of Oil and Condensate by March: Minister

oil production

Zanganeh told reporters that the sales of oil and condensates for a period of nine months starting 21 March 2016 had already reached $24.7 billion.

He emphasized that the revenues from sales of oil and oil products would be enough to support the financial projections of the national budget for the current Iranian year.

Zanganeh further emphasized that Iran was receiving all the money for its ongoing oil sales, adding that no amount had been blocked in any country – as was the case with the years the country was under the US-led sanctions.

He also said the budget for the next Iranian calendar year has been calculated by anticipating the price of oil to be sold by the country at $55 per barrel.

This past Saturday, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Trade and International Affairs Amir Hossein Zamaninia said the country had exported about 2.8 million barrels per day of oil and condensate over a period of nine months starting 21 March 2016.

Zamaninia emphasized that the figure showed that Iran’s exports of oil and condensate had doubled after the removal of sanctions against the country.

In 2012, Iran’s energy sector was hit by the US-led sanctions, reducing the country’s crude exports from 2.5 million bpd to nearly 1 million barrels per day.

The sanctions were lifted last January after a nuclear deal that Iran had sealed with the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany – the so-called P5+1 group of countries – came into effect.

ISIS Leader Seeks Arab Sponsors’ Financial Aid

ISIS Leader scaped

The ISIS leader’s terrorist plan is aimed at convincing the Iraqi government and army that he possesses a large number of explosives, according to a Farsi report by IRNA.

Umar Badreddin, an expert on terrorist groups, revealed that since the ISIS terrorist organization in Mosul aims to, at any cost, prevent the early recapture of western Mosul by Iraqi forces, it has dispatched two delegations to a number of Arab countries and Persian Gulf littoral states, seeking monetary assistance to purchase arms.

He said that the ISIS has lost a major portion of its armaments in its recent battles.

Badreddin added certain sources in Mosul have divulged that al-Baghdadi plans to contact a number of wealthy people to obtain fund for buying weaponry, for he has lost a major part of its arsenal in recent conflicts.

“In some neighbourhoods, Iraqi forces have managed to disarm ISIS terrorists and make them to run away.”

Turkish Parliament Votes to Give Erdogan More Executive Powers

Turkish Parliament

Politicians voted to approve the final 18th article of the lengthy package. The proposed reforms – which proponents in Mr Erdogan’s ruling AK party say are necessary to deal with Turkey’s fragile economic and security situations – would give the President the power to appoint and dismiss ministers, to once again become head of a political party, and possibly govern until 2029.

Opposition politicians and democracy activists have said the bill is dangerously close to a form of authoritarianism, The Independent reported.

Journalists Targeted by ISIS Drone Attack in Mosul (+Photos)

Mosul

According to a Farsi report by Al Alam, the ISIS drone attacked the news crew of Iraq’s Al-Ghadeer TV Channel somewhere close to Prophet Jonah’s tomb in Nineveh, which had been liberated by Iraqi forces in the earlier day.

The journalists’ car was damaged, but none of them were injured.

ISIS have been using drones to attack civilians in the liberated areas of Mosul with bombs and other explosive devices.

This may be some of the first instances of drones being used as attack vehicles, rather than its traditional use of surveillance.

“Until recently though there was little evidence they had developed their use further but a series of recent strikes has now confirmed that they have developed the capability to drop 40 millimetre grenades,” Telegraph said in a recent report.
