Trump Is an Opportunity for Iran: MP

trump

According to a Farsi report by Fars News, Alireza Zakani, an Iranian Parliament member, believes that Donald Trump’s presidency is a great opportunity for Iran to show the reality of the US to the world.

“Now we can prove our legitimacy and communicate it to other nations and governments.”

Zakani also criticized the Iranian government for its appeasement towards Trump.

“This appeasement policy puts Iran on the brink of war, as it makes Trump greedier for attacking Iran. We should find a mindful way to secure our interests by profiting from the gap between other states.”

“We should express our positions to prove the accurateness of our logic,” he added. “Not all nations are like the US: Iran is eager to have economic relations with the world based on mutual respect.”

He went on to say that having had their eyes on Washington, Iranian officials should now pin back their hopes on Iranians: this is a positive consequence of Trump policies.

“They will concentrate on domestic capacities afterward. Iran can arrange its relations with the world in a way that leads to its total independence.”

Iran, Most Independent Country in the World

“We were dependent on the US before the Islamic Revolution,” Zakani stated, noting that by signing the Capitulation treaty, Iran was paying a savage fee to the United States while safeguarding its interests in the region.

“This is the bitter truth of the pre-Revolution era.”

Referring to the “Independence, Freedom, and Islamic Republic” motto, he counted the important results of Islamic Revolution in Iran. “Politically, we are 100% independent today, like no country is: this is a great achievement.”

“The West puts pressure on Iran as it doesn’t want us to become culturally and economically independent, too.”

He then stressed that today, Iran is the freest country of the world. It can still become freer, though.

Zakani also mentioned the notion of religious democracy in Iran. “The participation of people in shaping their own destiny is a prominent democracy principal. While it was apparently respected before the revolution, in fact all Parliament members and official were chosen in a pre-arranged way.”

“While Iranians suffered a lot due to Iran-Iraq war and the sanctions, they fulfilled their duties in the Revolution very well: Washington intended to urge them to rebel against the Islamic Republic and didn’t succeed.”

Zakani insisted that the Islamic Revolution never strived to fight against the world.

“Our leaders have always conveyed the message of peace.”

Korea and EU States Main Customers of Iran’s Pomegranate

South Korea was the biggest customer of Iranian pomegranate. Other export destinations include Germany, the UK, the UAE, Ukraine, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration’s data shows.

According to Abolqasem Hassanpour, an official with the Ministry of Agriculture, more than 1 million tons of pomegranates are expected to be produced in Iran during the current Iranian year (ending March 20, 2017) from 94,000 hectares of orchards allocated for the cultivation of the fruit across the country.

“Domestic demand stands at over 900,000 tons per year and the remaining 100,000 tons will be exported to Europe, the Persian Gulf littoral states and Russia,” he was quoted as saying by Financial Tribune.

Hassanpour noted that 3 million tons of pomegranates are cultivated across the world every year and Iran is the world’s biggest producer of the fruit followed by India, China, Turkey and the United States.

The cities of Saveh, Yazd and Shiraz as well as Mazandaran Province are the main producers of pomegranates in Iran.

Iranian Students Build New Solar Car

Iran University Students Develop Solar Car

It has been developed at Sepehr Research and Industrial Center affiliated to IUST. Ramin Hashemi, a university instructor at the faculty, said that over 14 months students designed the concept and the solar-powered vehicle, local automotive website carnet.ir reported.

The team designed the body and structure, suspension, brakes and electric system. “Such developments pave the way for more widespread research in the area of solar power,” he said.

New technology used for designing the car’s body has helped  significantly reduce energy consumption. The unveiling ceremony will be held on February 7 and will attended by auto industry executives and senior officials.

Sepehr is not the first solar car made by university students in Iran. Students studying mechanics at the University of Tehran were pioneers in the area and built three editions of a solar car named Gazelle.  The Gazelle took part in several international solar competitions and completed a tour from the north to the south of Iran in July 2016.

Trump’s New Sanctions Endanger Lives of Iranian People

Supplying Medicines Top Priority for Gov't amid Sanctions: Iran President

Washington recently imposed new sanctions on Iran once again: this time, the US Treasury Department decided to put bans on 13 Iranian figures and 12 bodies under the pretext of supporting terrorism and running missile tests.

“The doctrine of nuclear deal, namely the removal of sanctions on Iran, is called into question by such a decision,” stressed Abolfazl Abutorabi, an Iranian lawmaker, according to a Farsi report by ICANA.

“The abovementioned directive definitely violates the nuclear deal.”

“Washington has made baseless claims about Iran’s missile tests,” he added. “The imposition of new sanctions on Iran is contrary to the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231.”

He then urged Iranian officials to take countermeasures against the US deceitful acts and their violation of JCPOA.

Abutorabi believes that Washington and Europe have adopted a carrot and stick approach to Iran and the JCPOA.

“Europe carries the carrot and implements the policy of reward offering; the US, on the other hand, is holding the stick by meting out punishments,” he noted.

“While Europe takes no real positive measure, Washington is always acting against Iran.”

“By banning several pharmaceutical firms among others, the US has targeted Iranians’ lives and health; it is inconsistent with human rights,” he said, stressing that the international laws are violated by such an action.

Trump’s Threat Should Be Taken Seriously: Analyst

In an article published in Shargh daily newspaper, Mohammad Taqi Fazel Meibodi weighed in on the ramifications of US President Donald Trump’s policies.

Here is the full text of the Farsi article:

Mohammad Taqi Fazel MeibodiWith his orders, the incumbent White House ruler has dealt the coup de grâce to the dreams of American icon Martin Luther King. The late leader of the Civil Rights Movement used to say his dream is to see the country (US) rise up one day and rekindle its beliefs.

We all accept the fact that all humans are born equal. The current US statesmen seem to have come to power with less than 30 percent of popular vote. In the twenty-first century, American officials consider the inhuman “racism” principle as part of their beliefs, and the frail democracy lingering on in the US political arena has only been used as a tool to gain power. This view can be compared to the Hitler’s viewpoint, who caused death and destruction across the world.

Major countries, namely those in Europe, should take the danger posed by Trump seriously. The UN and other human rights institutions shouldn’t allow such unwise ad perilous policies to continue.

The ABC of Trumpists’ policies stipulates that Muslims should be confronted in the name of fighting ISIS. All of us know that Islam is not the origin of ISIS. Even if it is, that is the Wahhabi version of Islam which has emerged from within Saudi Arabia and is associated with Talibanism. Saudi Arabia was not among the countries whose nationals were banned from travelling to the US. So far, not even a single person from the Islamic Iran has joined ISIS. The Islam promoted in Iran is the same pure Islam which carries the message of kindness, peace and coexistence among religions, denominations and all humans.

A politician who wants to fight ISIS, but does not know it well, will promote terrorism instead. Or maybe US authorities seek to ignite another war in the Middle East region. But they do not know such a war will spill over beyond the region. A few points should be highlighted here: non-state academicians, elites, and politicians from the US, Europe and other countries who understand the danger posed by Trump, should take this threat seriously. They should not allow another Hitler to throw his weight around and should not allow human beings to fall victims to the imprudence of such people as Trump.

IRGC Commander Says Britain Has No Place in Middle East

Commenting on London’s new plans for a more active role in the Middle East, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said on Tuesday that the “evil wishes” of Britain and other European countries will not come true, because people of the region will not allow their presence.

Britain had better stay away from the Middle East before running into new troubles, he added.

The commander also played down the recurring US rhetoric of military action against Iran being a viable option, saying that although such hostile comments have become worn-out and ridiculous, a set of appropriate and effective responses has been devised to counter the US.

While Britain is weighing new arms sales to the Persian Gulf Arab states and has even licensed more than £3.3bn worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia since the kingdom began bombing Yemen in March 2015, nearly two-thirds of British people oppose exporting arms to Saudi Arabia.

A new poll of 2,000 UBritish adults found 62 percent of them disagreed with the arms sales from Britain to the Middle Eastern nation.

Iran Thankful to Trump for Showing Real Face of US: Leader

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei

Speaking in a meeting with Iranian Air Force commanders and personnel in Tehran on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei said Trump should be thanked because “he did the job for us of showing the US true face.”

“During the [US] election and after it, this gentleman (Trump) came along and laid bare the political, economic, moral, and social corruption within the US establishment that we had been speaking of for thirty-odd years,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“Now, too, with what he’s been doing, hand-cuffing a five-year-old [and other things], he is showing what American human rights really mean,” the Leader said.

The Leader also noted the Iranian people will be responding to Trump’s recent anti-Iran threats on the upcoming anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

“Trump says, ‘Fear me!’ No. The [Iranian] people will respond to these remarks on Bahman 22 [February 10] and will show what position the Iranian people assumes vis-à-vis threats,” the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei was referring to the date on the Persian calendar coinciding with the anniversary of the February 11, 1979 Islamic Revolution, when the Iranian nation stages countrywide rallies celebrating the Revolution’s victory.

Trump had tweeted earlier in the month that “Iran is playing with fire – they don’t appreciate how ‘kind’ President Obama was to them. Not me!”

The Leader said, “The US’s new president says, ‘You should be grateful to [former US President Barack] Obama! Why? Should we be thankful for Daesh [ISIS], the flames [of violence] in Iraq and Syria, and open support for the 2009 sedition [in Iran]?” the Leader noted, as reported by Press TV.

“It was him (Obama) who brought the crippling sanctions to the Iranian people,” Ayatollah Khamenei said. “Of course he fell short of his goal, and no enemy can cripple the Iranian people.”
