In their posts, they have shown the Iranian people’s solidarity with one another and sympathized with the victims’ families. They also warned enemies against future invasions and prayed for their country while expressing their dismay at the violent assaults.

Our message is clear.”

Nevertheless, you have failed to understand one important fact: Insignificant people like you cannot set foot on Iran’s soil.”

“In case, the need would be felt, I as an artist, and my compatriots, from physicians, engineers and the rich to workers and the poor, will make you and your masters put the gun to your head [and get rid of yourself]. Tehran Terror Attacks Not to Influence Iran’s Tourism

“Unlike Turkey, India or Thailand, Iran’s attacks were not made in a hotel, airport or resort where tourists are often present, so there is no need to worry,” said Mohammad Taqi Rahnamaei, a member of Iranian Tourism Scientific Association, ISNA reported.

Morteza Rahmani Fazli, tourism deputy at Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, has also tweeted that “blind terrorism will not disturb the determination of Iran’s large tourism family to welcome tourists”.

Violence and insecurity, especially involving terrorist incidents, are major threats to tourism and travelers are often warned against visiting destinations experiencing such issues.

The foreign media’s overstated coverage of Tehran’s events, combined with Iran’s lackluster promotion of its attractions abroad, has been a cause for concern.

According to Rahnamaei, tourists to Iran have stronger cultural motivations that make them more determined to make their trip than those who merely travel for leisure.

Pointing to Turkey’s tourist loss following several attacks last year, the expert said despite its historical attractions, this country is rather a leisure destination for western tourists, which is easy to substitute in case of a smallest risk.

“Iran, however, has qualities for which no replacement can be easily found. Tourists might become a little nervous but I do not expect them to change their plans or cancel their trips,” he said.

Tehran was hit on June 7 with two simultaneous terrorist attacks targeting the parliament and the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in the south of the city that left 12 people dead and 42 wounded. All six attackers were also killed.

The number of casualties reached 17 by late Thursday.

Pope Condemns ‘Barbaric’ Terrorist Attacks on Tehran

Pope Francis

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s secretary of state, said in a telegram sent to Iran on Friday that the Pope was sending “heartfelt condolences to all those affected by the barbaric attack in Tehran” and lamented the “senseless and grave act of violence.”

The Pope “commends the souls of the deceased to the mercy of the Almighty” and “assures the people of Iran of his prayers for peace,” the telegram read.

At least 17 people were killed and 52 others injured in Tehran on Wednesday when gunmen mounted almost simultaneous assaults on Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) and the Mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini.

The Takfiri Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Additionally on Friday, representatives from Lebanon’s Prime Minister Saad Hariri, President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and Army Commander General Joseph Aoun met with the Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Mohammad Fat’h-Ali at Iran’s Embassy and signed a book of condolence for the victims of the Tehran terrorist attacks.

The representatives condemned the attacks and expressed their sympathy and solidarity with the Iranian nation and government.

Dozens of other Lebanese political, religious, cultural, economic, and media figures as well as foreign ambassadors and diplomats in Beirut also signed the book of condolence.

Separately, Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil held a phone conversation with the Iranian ambassador to Beirut, denouncing the Tehran assaults and stressing that his country stood by Iran in fighting against terrorism. The Lebanese Foreign Ministry had earlier issued a statement condemning the attacks.

In another development, Moldovan President Igor Dodon sent a message of solace to his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani. He described the June 7 attacks as “unjustified,” voicing his and his nation’s empathy and solidarity with the Islamic Republic.

Dodon also expressed the Moldovan nation’s all-out support for Iranians and the families of the victims of the terrorist attacks in Tehran.

Following the terrorist assaults, Iran identified and arrested dozens of Daesh elements through a series of sophisticated intelligence operations.

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry said the five perpetrators of the two attacks in Tehran had previously left Iran after being recruited by Daesh and participated in the terror outfit’s atrocities in the Iraqi city of Mosul and the Syrian city of Raqqah.

Iran’s Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi also said that more than 100 other terror plots had already been foiled in the past two years.

New Hamas Chief to Visit Iran in Near Future

Osama Hamdan, the head of the Hamas international relations department, announced that Haniya heading a group of Hamas officials would make a trip to Iran soon as part of a tour to a number of regional countries.

The official also pointed to a recent visit to Egypt by the Hamas delegation and said the trip has been positive and will lead to a number of agreements, which would serve the interests of the two sides.

On May 6, 2017, Hamas, the Palestinian political movement that rules Gaza Strip, elected Ismail Abdulsalam Ahmed Haniya, 54, as the head of the group’s political bureau, replacing Khaled Meshaal.

It comes as the group is introducing changes to its organizational structure.

Haniya, who lives in Gaza, has a reputation for being pragmatic and flexible. His election is seen by some analysts as being in line with the movement’s decision to accept a Palestinian state on 1967 borders, a position he has long supported.

Iranian FM, UN Secretary General Hold Talks in Astana

Zarif, who arrived in the Kazakh capital of Astana on Thursday to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and the opening ceremony of Astana Expo 2017, met with the UN chief on Friday.

Guterres condemned the terrorist attacks in the Iranian Parliament and the Mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, and expressed his sympathy with the Iranian government and nation.

On Wednesday, gunmen stormed Iran’s Parliament and the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, in two coordinated attacks. At least 17 people lost their lives and nearly 50 others were wounded in the assaults, which involved shootings and blasts.

The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the near-simultaneous assaults.

The top Iranian diplomat and the UN secretary general also exchanged views about the latest issues in the Middle East, including the Syrian, Iraqi and Yemeni crises.

Pointing to a recent dispute among some Arab countries in the Persian Gulf, Guterres said only dialogue can settle the conflict.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its allies, including Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, severed their diplomatic ties and all land, sea and air contacts with Qatar on Monday, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism and extremism and interfering in their internal affairs, in the biggest diplomatic crisis to hit the region in years.

The UN chief also confirmed Iran’s fulfillment of its commitments under the landmark nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reached between the Islamic Republic and the P5+1 group of countries.

The official stand of the United Nations is to support the spirit and text of the JCPOA as a historic agreement, he said.

Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council – the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China – plus Germany signed the mammoth agreement in July 2015 and started implementing it in January 2016.

Under the JCPOA, Iran undertook to put limitations on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.

The International Atomic Energy Agency on June 2 once again confirmed that Iran has been living up to its commitments under the JCPOA.

Iran FM’s meetings

Also on Friday, the Iranian foreign minister held separate meetings with Kazak President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his Russian, Uzbek and Kyrgyz counterparts Sergei Lavrov, Abdulaziz Komilov and Erlan Abdyldaev.

Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, recently wrote on her Twitter account that the French capital and its residents “stand in solidarity” with Iran. She also declared that the lights of iconic Eiffel Tower will be turned off in tribute to the victims of the Wednesday’s terror attacks in Tehran.

In reaction to the move, Iranian Ambassador to Paris Ali Ahani thanked Hidalgo and said the French nation, just like the Iranian people, has tasted the bitterness of blind terrorism and moves by such terrorist groups as ISIS.

Ahani referred to the twin attacks on Tehran and said “the Takfiri Wahhabi group targeted two symbols of the Islamic Republic, namely the shrine of Imam Khomeini as the founder of democracy in Iran, and the Parliament as the clear manifestation of democracy in the country.”

By attacking these symbols and killing several people, the ISIS group showed how angry they and their ideological and financial supporters are at the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is seriously countering the terrorist outfit, in particular, and terrorism and extremism in general.

Iran Strongly Denounces Deadly Terrorist Attacks in Iraq

In a statement on Friday, Qassemi offered his condolences to the Iraqi nation and government as well as the bereaved families of the victims of the deadly terror attacks in the neighboring country.

“Heavy and successive defeats of Takfiri terrorists in Iraq and Syria have caused their intellectual and organizational failure,” he noted.

In a desperate attempt to rebuild the spirit of their mercenaries in Syria and Iraq, the terrorists are resorting to blind attacks across the region and the world, the Iranian spokesman said, adding that however, their collapse and destruction is inevitable.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as always, is resolved to side with regional nations and governments in the relentless fight against violence until the complete destruction of terrorism,” Qassemi stated.

A suicide bomber blew himself up in a market in the town of Musayyib on Friday killing at least 30 people.

A woman detonated her explosive belt in a market east of the Shiite holy city of Karbala on Friday, killing at least 30 and wounding 35, Iraqi security sources said.

The attack in Musayyib came hours after another, apparently failed attack in the Shiite shrine city of Karbala, a few kilometers (a couple of miles) to the southwest.

Four civilians were wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance of the city’s main bus station early Friday, police sources said.

Both attacks were claimed by the Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group through its propaganda agency Amaq.

ISIL has carried out dozens of deadly suicide bombings targeting civilians but Iraq has been on heightened alert since the start of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

Tehran Terrorist Attacks Revenge on Democracy: Rouhani

hassan rouhani

When the Iranian nation achieves a success, the ill-wishers seek to strike a blow to the country and nation, Rouhani said on the sidelines of a funeral ceremony held for the victims of Tehran terrorist attacks.

“The huge turnout in the country’s presidential and local elections astonished our ill-wishers, but made our friends happy all around the world”, Rouhani added.

The Iranian President referred to the Wednesday’s twin attacks in Tehran and said “these acts of terror are in fact a revenge on democracy”.

Rouhani added that “people will keep finding their own path to national goals, integrity, and unity, and the nation will certainly emerge victorious.”

Two terrorist raids launched on the mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini, and the Iranian Parliament on Wednesday, claimed the lives 17 people and injured more than 45 others.

ISIS terrorists claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks.

Iran’s Parl. Speaker Calls US “International ISIS”

Ali Larijani

Larijani slammed Washington for the imposition of new anti-Iran sanctions,, saying that “the US Senate shamelessly approved the bill at a time when the Iranian nation was facing the terrorist incidents”.

He made the comments during a funeral ceremony held for the martyrs killed in the twin terrorist attacks in Tehran on Wednesday.

Addressing the ceremony on Friday, he said, “Today is a tough day for the Iranian nation. Farewell to dear ones, who were sadly martyred.”

Referring to terrorists’ targeting of the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini and also the Parliament, Larijani said, it indicated that they had concentrated on the “axes of the Iranian people’s religious democracy.”

On Wednesday, terrorists launched two simultaneous attacks on Iran’s parliament building and the mausoleum of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, in southern Tehran.

At least 17 people were killed and more than 40 were wounded in the attacks.

The ISIS Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assaults.

Tehran Attacks Result of Saudi-Israeli-US Project: IRGC General

General Hossein Salami

Speaking in a televised interview on Thursday, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the IRGC’s second-in-command, said the joint Saudi-Israel-US project was aimed at dealing a blow to Iran’s political and security power.

At least 17 people were killed and around 50 injured in Tehran on Wednesday, when gunmen attacked Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) and the Mausoleum of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

Both attacks were, however, foiled by the Iranian security forces, who arrived on the scene in no time and prevented the terrorists from gaining access to the sensitive parts of the two complexes.

The Takfiri Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the near-simultaneous assaults.

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry later identified the five terrorists involved in the attacks, saying they had a history of past terrorist activities and were linked to Wahhabi and Takfiri groups.

Salami further hailed the effective response to the attacks and said it “buried our enemies’ political dream alive, showing that Iran will be a graveyard for anyone seeking to endanger its security,” he asserted.

Last month, US President Donald Trump went to Saudi Arabia in his first foreign visit, clinching a USD-110-billion arms deal with Riyadh, which US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said was aimed at “countering” Iran.

Trump then travelled to Israel. In both places, he referred to Iran as a purveyor of terrorism and urged the Persian Gulf Arab states to unite against the Islamic Republic, endorsing both Riyadh and Tel Aviv’s anti-Iran stance.

Tehran has consistently rejected such accusations of intervention in regional affairs, and urged dialog and convergence among the Persian Gulf’s littoral states

‘Attacks rooted in enemies’ frustration’

He said the acts of terror were perpetrated as a result of the enemies’ back-to-back defeats in regional disputes and proxy warfare over the past years.

“While the Americans, the Saudis, some reactionary regional countries and Westerners were trying to tip the regional equations in their own favor and threaten the Islamic Republic’s establishment, they didn’t manage to act out their plans in Syria and Iraq, and suffered defeat in regional political disputes,” he added.

“The Saudis’ regional policies have completely been defeated, while Daesh’s turf has dwindled and is on the verge disappearance,” he added in reference to accusations against Riyadh of funding and fueling Takfiri terrorism in the region.

When it comes to the country’s national security, Salami said, Iran does not “joke” with any side.

“We are extraordinarily powerful. We have everything at our disposal and enjoy a variety of options,” said the Iranian commander, warning that “if anyone seeks to disrupt our national security, we won’t leave him any safe spot.”
