ISIS Kills Woman Who Fought Illiteracy in Villages

ISIS Kills Woman Who Fought Illiteracy in Villages

With tears in eyes, the husband of Haniyeh Akbarian, one of the victims of Tehran terrorist attacks, said, “My wife had come to the parliament with an employment letter at hand. She wanted to talk with the lawmakers on her employment status.”

“We arrived in Tehran on Tuesday and spent the night at my brother-in-law’s home. On Wednesday morning, we went to the parliament. My wife left her purse with me and went in. When entering the parliament, she asked me to wait for her.

“Just two minutes after she stepped inside, there was a shooting. The guards didn’t allow me to get in. They took out her dead body after a while,” he said.

In the terrorist attack on Iran’s parliament on June 7, the hard-working teacher of Literacy Movement Organization of Iran was martyred.

The 38-year-old Haniyeh had worked in the LMO over the past years teaching residents of tens of far-reach villages in Western Iran to read and write.

Tehran Attacks Increase Hatred towards Riyadh, Washington: Leader

Leader

In a message on Friday, Ayatollah Khamenei condemned the terrorist attacks on the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, and the Iranian parliament as “a clear sign of the evil hostility of the stooges of the arrogant (powers) toward the dignified Iranian nation and whatever related to the Islamic Revolution and Establishment and its late leader”.

The Leader also offered condolences over the deaths of a number of Iranian people in the twin attacks.

The following is the full text of the statement by Ayatollah Khamenei:

The terrorist incidents – which occurred in our late Imam’s Holy Shrine and in the Islamic Consultative Majlis on the 12th day of the auspicious month of Ramadan, leading to the martyrdom of a number of dear individuals, while they were fasting, and the injury of an even greater number of people – is a clear sign of the vicious grudge and enmity of arrogant mercenaries towards the dignified people of Iran, and towards everything that is related to the Revolution, to the Islamic Republic, and to its late honorable leader.

Such crimes – which are suggestive of the malevolence and at the same time lowliness of the perpetrators – are too trivial to undermine the determination of the Iranian nation. The definite outcome of such course of action is nothing but an increase in hatred towards the US government and its agents in the region – the likes of Saudi Arabia.

The Iranian nation will move forward with unity and with firm determination, God willing. I wish to commemorate the martyrs of this incident, and I express my congratulations and condolences to their families. I ask Allah the Exalted to cure the injured and the casualties of this incident.

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry Arrests More Wahhabi Terrorists

Iran's Intelligence Ministry Arrests More Wahhabi Terrorists

Following intense activities, the forces of the Intelligence Ministry with the cooperation of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Law Enforcement managed to detain several other terrorist elements in connection with the terrorist attacks in the Iranian parliament and the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, the ministry said in a statement on Friday.

In the operation to arrest the terrorists, a huge amount of weapons and bomb precursors, explosive belts, some means of communication and forged documents were found by the intelligence forces.

Also in northwestern parts of the country, several houses used by Wahhabi Takfiris were identified and cleared of the terrorists, according to the statement.

The statement came after the Law Enforcement forces in the western province of Kermanshah arrested two people in Ravansar who are said to be involved in the two terrorist attacks in Tehran.

Earlier on Thursday, the Intelligence Ministry had released the pictures and first names of five perpetrators of the terror attacks.

The ministry identified the five gunmen as Qayyoum, Abu Jihad, Ramin, Serias, and Fereydoun, without announcing their surnames.

According to the statement, the five attackers were terrorists with criminal backgrounds who were linked to “Wahhabi and Takfiri groups.”

After joining the Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group, the five men had left Iran and were engaged in the terrorist group’s operations in Iraq’s Mosul and Syria’s Raqqa, it added.

The five gunmen had returned to Iran in August 2016 for a terrorist operation under the command of Abu Aysheh, a ranking commander of Daesh, with the purpose of carrying out attacks in Iran’s religious cities, the statement said.

They had fled Iran after their cell was disbanded at the time and their ringleader, Abu Aysheh, was killed, it added.

On Wednesday morning, the five terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on Iran’s parliament building in downtown Tehran and on the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, south of the city.

Dressed as women, the assailants attacked the parliament buildings in the morning. Equipped with AK-47 assault rifles, handguns, grenades and suicide vests, the gunmen killed security guards and ordinary people before holding people hostage in the upper floors of the building.

They were all killed by the security forces after an operation that took several hours.

In the other attack at the shrine of Imam Khomeini, one suicide bomber blew himself up while the second one was killed in an exchange of gunfire.

The death toll from Wednesday’s incidents in Tehran grew to 17, while more than 40 others have been wounded.

Funeral Held for Victims of Tehran Terrorist Attacks(+Photos)

The Friday event was attended by the heads of Iran’s Executive, Legislative and Judiciary Branches, President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, and Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli-Larijani respectively.

Also joining the ceremony were government ministers, and Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammadi-Golpayegani, the head of the office of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Press TV reported.

Others included foreign ambassadors, and survivors of the Wednesday attacks, who were holding up pictures of the victims.

Addressing the ceremony, the parliament chief said, “Today is a hard day for the Iranian nation. Farewell to dear ones, who were sadly martyred.”

“The terrorists fell short of their [main] aim” and then started to blindly target civilians and employees, he said.

Their targeting the locations, Larijani said, indicated their concentration on the “axes of the Iranian people’s religious democracy.”

Ayatollah Mohammadi-Golpayegani also delivered the Leader’s message of condolences to the event.

He was referring to the big turnout of Iranians in the May 19 presidential elections.

Rouhani added that it is not the first time the nation witnesses such acts of terror, stressing that “people will find their own path to national goals and unity, and the nation will undoubtedly emerge victorious.”

A funeral procession also started for the victims after the Friday Prayers in the capital.

Large groups of people are taking part in the ceremony, chanting slogans against Saudi Arabia, the US and Israel, whom they blame for supporting terrorism.

At least 17 people were killed and more than 50 injured in Tehran on Wednesday, when gunmen attacked Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) and the Mausoleum of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the near-simultaneous assaults.

On Thursday, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry released the names of the five terrorists who were killed after carrying out the deadly attacks in Tehran.

Local police in Iran’s western province of Kermanshah also said two people have been arrested in connection with the double attacks, while over 90 handguns have been discovered during a security operation in Ravansar County, the Tasnim news agency reported.

Here are Mehr’s photos of the funeral ceremony:

“Saudi Arabia Origin of Terrorist Moves across World”

“We see their traces [Saudis’] in Syria and Iraq. It’s widely believed that Saudi Arabia is the origin of terrorist moves across the globe, and terrorists take their ideology from the kingdom”, Alavi added.

The Iranian minister made the remarks while visiting Tehran terrorist attacks victims in a hospital in Tehran.

He went on to say that it is too early to say whether or not Saudi Arabia was involved in Tehran’s terrorist attacks. “Having completed our investigation, we will share useful findings with people,” he said.

He further pointed to his ministry’s performance in the Wednesday’s terrorist attacks in Tehran, and said the explosion of just one bomb grabs headlines, while defusing one hundred bombs goes unnoticed.

“During the past days and months, we experienced a huge pressure exerted by terrorist groups. We identified and arrested one, two or three-member terrorist groups every week. Our forces are going ahead with their operations. We hope to identify the roots of terrorism in our country,” he noted.

He also called on people to report any suspicious acts to the intelligence ministry by calling 113.

Turin Stampede; When Social Frenzy Turns into Fear

Turin Stampede; When Social Frenzy Turns into Fear

The terrorist attacks on the UK capital’s Westminster Bridge and Borough Market followed by Vauxhall stabbing in London left 7 people dead and 48 others injured. British police said the attacks were not connected with the ones which took place in the city over the past months.

But as three attackers were launching their invasion in London, there was also a false bomb scare in San Carlo Square in Turin, Italy, in which 30,000 of Juventus fans had gathered to watch the Champions League’s final. It was right after Real Madrid’s third goal that a man suddenly cried: “Bomb! Bomb!”. It prompted a stampede that injured hundreds of people.

Earlier, I was reading a book on the global culture of football named “The Geography of Emotion”. The main theme of the book is that by creating a collective emotion across the world, football has managed to establish an independent and unified realm with a common language and set of concepts.

In the past, football was viewed just as a game. To clarify meanings, the linguists say every game has two main features: Being entertaining and charge-free. With this point in mind, football is no longer just a game today, but an extremely serious activity which goes beyond entertainment. Meanwhile, it is no longer a charge-free activity, and rather the basis of a money-making industry.

These days, terror shares the same fate with football in the sense that it is no longer just a word with an apparent and single meaning. Terror is now a global phenomenon with a coherent structure. It creates a new kind of fear. If floods and earthquakes create fear among us and threaten our lives, terror takes a further step and shatters our courage. Fear is no longer an individual emotion or limited to a certain country or region.

If football can turn a Messi-fan Afghan boy into a component of a universal galaxy of concepts, terrorism can connect Kabul, Brussels and Paris together in the same way. Like football, terror has created a unified and independent realm of fear with a universal and common meaning. That’s why those in Turin with the same impression of football, Ronaldo, Real Madrid and Juventus have a similar impression of “bomb”. This impression connects Kabul to Paris and London in a blink of an eye causing a stronger reaction.

Therefore, the geography of fear – terrorism – goes beyond football’s geography of emotion in terms of universality and influence. Today the flag of terror is hoisting over the ruins of our courage and happiness which our society used to owe its cohesion to them.

Fear is an inseparable part of all social frenzies and all of us feel it one way or another.

Throughout history, fear has always created a fertile ground for emergence of destructive forces which in turn contribute to major human disputes by releasing uncontrollable emotions.

Fear and misunderstanding are twin sisters catalyzing catastrophes and paving the way for sidelining human wisdom.

Football’s wins and defeats have short-term repercussions, but the repercussions of fear know no time limit. Today, people not only in the Middle East, but also in Southeast Asia, Africa, America and Europe feel the fear in their hearts even amid football jubilation.

Despite its cultural aspects, today our world is suffering from an extremely frightened mindset. There are ample unfortunate precedents in the history followed by sheer follies. The new wave of follies is standing at the gateway of our civilization.

Courage and wisdom are the only remedies. Any dialogue leading to further cooperation amounts to an iron shield against the blade of fear.

Now, we have pinned our hopes to the potential capabilities of human being to overcome the current plight. The main question lingering in mind is that which side will prevail in fight between fear and courage, extremism and moderation and wisdom and folly? Only time will tell.

Erdogan Ratifies Deployment of Turkish Troops to Qatar

Erdogan signed off on the Turkish Parliament’s approval late Thursday night, after earlier criticizing the Arab nations which had moved to isolate Qatar over its alleged support of terrorism, the presidential office said in a statement.

“Turkish troops are coming to Qatar for the sake of the securıty of the entire region,” Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani told the press on Thursday, as cited by Hurriyet.

The training and assistance mission will boost the “security of the entire region,” the Qatari foreign minister said, as reported by RT.

Up to 5,000 Turkish soldiers might be deployed to Qatar under the new legislation, Rudaw news reports, adding that the troops are now on standby and ready for their deployment.

Turkey’s cooperation with Qatar comes as several countries and organizations – including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Egypt, Yemen, the Maldives, and one of Libya’s three rival governments – cut ties with Doha on Monday, accusing it of financing terrorist groups ranging from ISIS to the militants allegedly supported by Iran.

Erdogan almost immediately voiced support for Doha, saying on Tuesday that “we don’t find sanctions against Qatar right,” as quoted by Bloomberg.

On Wednesday, Turkey’s parliament swiftly approved two deals that were signed in December 2015 and April 2016 between the two nations – to provide troops to the Persian Gulf nation and to train its domestic police force.

Terrorists Attack Seat of Democracy: Iranian FM

The Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has, in a post on his Twitter account, indirectly attacked Riyadh for preparing the grounds for the terrorist assaults on the Iranian Parliament and the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini.

Referring to recent remarks by Saudi Defence Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Zarif said, “Terror-sponsoring despots threaten to bring the fight to our homeland [Iran]. Proxies attack what their masters despise most: the seat of democracy.”

Back in May, Saudi deputy crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, who is also defence minister, ruled out the likeliness of establishing friendly ties with Iran, and said that holding talks with Iran is impossible, as Tehran’s goal is to “control the Muslim world”.

Salman said any struggle for influence between Iran and Saudi Arabia has to take place “inside Iran, not in Saudi Arabia.”

In his post, Zarif also hinted at the lack of democracy in Saudi Arabia, saying the Al Saud’s hatred towards this system of government has been the main reason they encouraged their mercenaries to attack the Iranian Parliament, which is among the country’s most obvious symbols of democracy.

In another tweet, Zarif also addressed the contradictory comments by US President Donald Trump over the twin attacks in Tehran, saying, “Repugnant WH statement & Senate sanctions as Iranians counter terror backed by US clients. Iranian people reject such US claims of friendship.”

Killing Innocent Civilians against Int’l Humanitarian Law: MP

Tehran Terrorist Attacks

The representative of Iranian Zoroastrians in the Parliament strongly condemned Wednesday terrorist attacks in the Iranian capital, saying that killing innocent people is completely against international humanitarian law.

Esfandiar Ekhtiari said in a statement that Iranians would stand against the destructive beliefs of terrorists.

esfandiar ekhtiariHe went on further saying that these atrocious attacks touched all Iranians.

“The main question lingering in mind is that under what pretext the terrorists justify their atrocities against the innocent people,” he asked.

The Zoroastrian Member of Parliament stressed that the nation had always stood against the destructive beliefs and these attacks would only make them more determined in their fight against terrorism.
