In a Saturday meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran, Lemoyne stressed that France will try its utmost to safeguard the Iran nuclear deal.

He also voiced his country’s interest in cooperating with Iran in settling regional crises, and added, “Promotion of cooperation with Tehran is among Paris’ priorities.”

Zarif, for his part, described France as one of Iran’s important partners in the European Union, and said Iran is working with France in various bilateral and regional areas.

Iran FM Urges Europe to Be Alert to US Moves against JCPOA

During the meeting, issues related to implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, relations between Iran and the European Union, and the situation in the region were discussed.

Referring to the problems created by the United States in the course of implementation of the JCPOA, Iran’s Foreign Minister noted that the new US administration is seeking to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from enjoying the advantages of the JCPOA.

Zarif described the US move as a violation of the nuclear deal’s text, and said, “Trump tries to breach the deal with Iran paying the costs, but Europe needs to be alert in this regard.”

He also referred to Iran’s missile tests and the launch of the scientific satellite ‘Simorgh’, saying that these measures are not in contradiction to the UNSC Resolution 2231.

He also criticized the recent statement of the three European countries jointly issued with the United States, saying it is a movement in wrong direction.

For her part, Mogherini expressed her pleasure of participating in the swearing-in ceremony of President Rouhani, saying that the international community has common interests with Iran in implementation of the JCPOA.

“The European Union strongly supports the JCPOA, and this is the common position of all European countries. The EU’s position on this is clear, and we are trying to have the US next to us because all of us need wise and proportionate measures,” she stressed.

Expansion of Iran’s cooperation with the EU in various fields, especially in the economic areas, was underlined in this meeting.

The regional issues, Syria and the Astana Process negotiations, developments in the Persian Gulf, the situation in Yemen and the need to address the plight of the people in this country, besides the situation in Bahrain, Iraq, and fight against ISIS Takfiri terrorism were among the other topics discussed by the two sides.

‘World Acknowledges Iran’s Stabilizing Regional Policies’

In an interview with the Fars News Agency, Bahram Qassemi referred to the presence of delegations from 95 countries as well as 9 international organizations in Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s inauguration ceremony, and described it as a sign of the world’s positive interaction with Iran in the current situation in the region and across the globe.

He touched upon the US Congress’s recent legislation on the imposition of new sanctions signed by US President Donald Trump, and highlighted Washington’s non-compliance with its commitments under the nuclear deal signed by Iran and six world powers, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“Although the US has been imposing sanctions on Iran since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and has not stopped doing so and is slapping sanctions [on Iran] unilaterally, at the moment the continuation of such policies will be a nonstarter in the world,” said Qassemi.

Policy of Sanctions: A Failed, Futile Approach

Qassemi noted that the policy of sanctions is a failed and useless tactic in today’s world.

He said today’s evolving world, which is faced with numerous challenges, needs efforts to ensure realism and convergence as well as a campaign against the new challenges facing the human community.

“To that end, Iran has always made every effort, and will continue to make more efforts in the new administration,” the spokesman underlined.

Interaction, Dialogue Only Way to Tackle Current Situation

Qassemi said the only way to get out of the current complex and dangerous situation in the world is to have interaction, hold dialogue and try to fight unharnessed terrorism and extremism targeting the human community and lofty human values.

More Consultations, Convergence at Home

He also referred to the presence of representatives from all schools of thought and political currents in President Rouhani’s swearing-in ceremony.

“The situation inside the country is such that engagement and cooperation at domestic and international levels are increasing. This trend can result in more consultations and convergence inside the country. On the domestic front, the glorious endorsement and oath-taking ceremonies [of Rouhani] can put an end to political electoral rivalries and the beginning of greater rapport while taking different tastes and viewpoints into consideration.”

“Iran is a democratic country which relies on the votes of its own people. The presence, in Tehran, of so many representatives from world nations can be regarded as global respect for well-informed Iranian people and Iran’s democratic system. Their presence is a seal of approval to Iran’s stabilizing policies in the region as well as its utmost efforts to fight terrorism and keep it from spilling over to other parts of the world.

World Community’s Big “No” to Malevolent Few

The top diplomat went on to say that despite efforts by malevolent individuals to isolate Iran and promote Iranophobia over the past few years and paying a heavy price to achieve their end, such attempt have been met with the international community’s big “no” to these loudmouthed malevolent few as the accusations levelled against Iran are false and the majority of the international community have a realistic view of Iran’s current status in the region and in the world.

“Of course, such a [huge] presence is natural given Iran’s wise behaviour in the foreign policy arena, and we can witness more cooperation and understanding with the international community.”

Iran’s Message: Peace, Friendship, Welfare for All

He said Iran’s message is one of peace, friendship, development and welfare for all world nations. The spokesman said Iran will give an appropriate and friendly response to all those who favour goodwill and friendship with Iran.

Qassemi said Iran believes a calm, stable and developed region will not only serve its own interests, but will be in the interest of other countries as well.

He said Iran arranges its regional relations based on the principles of good neighbourliness, friendship, mutual respect and non-interference in one another’s internal affairs.

Qassemi noted Iran believes all regional countries need to experience a new path when it comes to cooperation and fair dialogue in order to stave off violence, war, hate-mongering and unwarranted killing of humans in Islamic countries.

Iranians Produces Antibacterial Nanocoatings Using Marigold Seeds

Iranians Produces Antibacterial Nanocoatings Using Marigold Seeds

A Farsi report by ISNA has quoted the researchers as saying that the nanoparticles used in these coatings are produced from seeds of a medicinal plant.

The project’s manager, Yousef Amrollahi, told ISNA that the nanocoatings were previously manufactured by a German company.

“In our studies, we upgraded them to produce nanocolours that have three features simultaneously,” he added.

In addition, he noted, one of the properties of the produced nanocoatings is their photocatalytic (self-cleansing) property.

“Titanium nanoparticles in samples made in other countries are activated by using sunlight. When they are activated the self-cleansing effect will also be activated.”

“In the samples produced inside the country the photocatalytic properties are activated by using sunlight, and thus this self-cleansing property will be created in the room as well,” Yousefi added.

The manager of the project also noted that another feature of these colours is their air-purification saying that the coatings can absorb and decompose mercury and lead in the air.

“The third property of the nanocoatings is that they are antibacterial. This means that the four types of bacteria identified in the buildings disappear when sitting on the coating,” he continued.

Yousefi pointed out that the base of these coatings are colloid nanoparticles of silver.

“Because of the toxicity of silver nanoparticles, they produce many environmental pollutants, but in this research project we synthesized it using a plant type.”

“In this research, we used seeds of marigold to synthesize colloid nanoparticles of silver. Therefore, this substance even can be used to antibacterialize beverages,” Yousefi went on to say.

He said production of “water-repellent bricks” is another achievement of the company which is based in Fars Science and Technology Park.

“By applying nanoparticles on the surface and inside bricks, we produced water-repellent materials that prevent water from penetrating into the walls of the building.”

Referring to the humid weather of the northern cities of Iran, the researcher said, using this brick will prevent moisture from penetrating into the walls.

Yousefi also said that organosilane nanoparticles have been used in production of these bricks adding that organosilanes are the greenest structures being produced in the world.
