Iran Displays Modern Transportation Techs at GITEX 2017

GITEX 2017

Iran Displays Modern Transportation Techs at GITEX 2017Information and communications technologies (ICT) can be applied almost in every profession. The transportation industry in Iran has not been an exception to this.

Here is an interview with Mr Khoshnafas, the CEO of Rahnegar Houshmand Iranian, a leading company in this field:

Q: When did your company start working and what was its objective?

A: Rahnegar Houshmand Iranian Company was established in 2011 with the motto off “Safe and Smart Everywhere”. Based on a vision called “Safety and Smartness in Transportation Industry with an Innovative Approach to Productivity and Development in Iran”, we started to accomplish the following missions in the country:

* Creating infrastructure in the IT domain

* Providing smart services in the field of ITS

* Planning and providing smart management solutions in the field of ITS

* Producing, supplying and distributing of hardware and software equipment in the field of ITS

Q: What are the major activities of your company?

A: We did a lot of work in these years, but the most important ones are as follows:

  • Selling two X-Ray machines for inspection of trucks worth $ 10 million
  • Selling 200,000 online GPS devices
  • Selling 30,000 offline GPS devices
  • Designing AVL software for monitoring the country’s public transportation throughout the country
  • Production and distribution of 10,000 MDT systems for taxis (including electronic payment, GPS, AVL, and taximetre devices)
  • Production of 50,000 digital taximetre devices

Q: Why have you decided to participate at GITEX 2017?

A: GITEX 2017 is an important exhibition in the field of information technology. Our company, with several years of activity in the domestic market, has developed two products namely car black boxes and NB-LTE and LTE-Cat M1 smart grid based on global standards. In order to develop the market in the countries of the region and the world via establishing contacts with potential business partners, our company intends to participate in the exhibition. The main difference between our products with other is that they are innovative and total-solution ones.

Q: And how do you evaluate the prospects for these technologies in Iran and the world?

A: Regarding the prospect of ICT in Iran, it should be noted that given the current trend of the IT market in the world, if domestic firms focus on software domains and integrate and deliver comprehensive solutions and present system integration solutions, we can have a successful presence in global markets in a five-year span. It goes without saying that political relations at the international level have a significant impact on the share of international markets for domestic companies as well.

In What Sense Is Las Vegas Shooter Similar to Trump?

In What Sense Is Las Vegas Shooter Similar to Trump?

Commentator Yadollah Javani has, in an article published in the Persian-language Javan daily, compared the Las Vegas deadly shooting incident to Washington’s warmongering in West Asia. In this opinion piece, the analyst has tried to explain to the American public the reasons behind West Asian people’s growing hatred of the United States.

The highlights of the article follow.

We can review the reality of the deadly Las Vegas tragedy from another perspective. The incident happened on October 1, 2017, in America’s Las Vegas and triggered panic among many Americans. It is similar to the many different incidents which have occurred in West Asian countries in recent decades, especially in the past ten years. The perpetrators of those bloody and harrowing incidents were American nationals. The Las Vegas massacre, too, was done by an American with numerous similarities to the US president. In fact, Mr Paddock was a little Trump in Las Vegas.

The Americans who were scared, and at the same time touched, by the Las Vegas incident and began to weep, should know that similar scenes to the ones which happened during the music festival as the ruthless shooter opened fire are taking place on a daily basis in parts of the world by their merciless president. Is there a difference in nature between the Las Vegas massacre and other incidents triggered by the US, for example Washington’s military buildup in Iraq and Afghanistan, airstrikes conducted by US warplanes in recent decades, the US downing of an Iranian passenger plane over the Persian Gulf, and hundreds of other cases? The only difference between the Las Vegas shooting and other incidents is in the location where they happened.

In the wake of the incident, Trump called the perpetrator a “devil,” and added these devils should be expelled from the United States. Mr Trump and other Americans should know that the oppressed nations that have suffered at the hands of the US have the same feeling toward America and seek to expel the Americans from their countries, and that is why they refer to the US as the “Great Satan,” the term coined by the late Imam Khomeini. That is because of US officials’ anti-human features and anti-human behaviour. Americans should know that oppressed nations as well as Iranian people have the same sense of hatred of the US president and government as American people had of the shooter following the Las Vegas incident. And the slogan “Down with the US” emanates from the same feeling.

‘Trump Accuses Iran of Aiding N. Korea to Deflect Attention from US Breach of Promises’

‘Trump Accuses Iran of Aiding N. Korea to Deflect Attention from US Breach of Promises’

Iranian lawmaker Mohammad-Javad Jamali Nobandegani has reacted to US President Donald Trump’s claim that Tehran is offering financial assistance to Pyongyang.

Trump has no logical and documented evidence for raising allegations about Iran’s aid to North Korea, the MP noted, adding that the moves Trump makes are not compatible with the norms that a president should observe.

“Trump wants to busy the minds of people of the world, who are concerned about North Korea’s moves, with the issue of Iran. He mentioned the issues of Iran and North Korea together for several times during his UN General Assembly speech,” he added, according to a Farsi report by ICANA.

“The European countries which are members of the P5+1 group believe Iran has not deviated from the JCPOA when it comes to the implementation of the deal. Amano and former US government officials have also acknowledged that Iran remained committed to the deal,” he said.

He noted that Iran is seeking peaceful nuclear technology, but Trump makes such claims to scuttle the JCPOA and create the impression that Iran is at fault for the violation of the deal.

He further said Iran’s assistance to other countries is announced clearly.

“Iran’s financial, humanitarian and other forms of assistance to any country is announced transparently. So, at a time when the US has blocked world banks’ transactions with Iran and we have problems when it comes to banking transactions, issues such as [claims of] helping North Korea had better not be raised,” said the legislator.

He said Trump’s claim that Iran is linked to North Korea comes to deflect public opinion from breach of commitments the US has pledged to fulfill under the JCPOA. In fact, he seeks to justify Washington’s breach of its promises.

Trump recently rehashed his anti-Iran allegations, saying the JCPOA should not have been concluded. He termed Iran a bad player, and claimed Iran was giving financial aid to North Korea.

S. Korea, Germany to Finance Development of Iran’s Electric Trains

S. Korea, Germany to Finance Development of Iran’s Electric Trains

Asghar Fakhrieh-Kashan declared that South Korea will provide funding to construct a double-track railway between Iranian cities of Isfahan in the centre and Ahwaz in the south.

Seven electric locomotives will also be purchased for Tehran-Isfahan route using the funds provided by Germany, he added.

IMNA quoted him in a Farsi report that there was no limit for any of the ministries and departments to use the $55 billion finances approved in the budget.

“Up to now, over $30 billion worth of these funds have been allocated, and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development has proposed projects to spend $10 billion to $12 billion of the finances,” added the deputy minister.

He went on to say the ministry has undertaken projects to get $5 billion worth of foreign loan for their implementation. So, we are in the final stages of signing a contract with Russians to receive a 1.2 billion euros funding to run electric trains in Garmsar-Inche Boroun railway. (Garmsar is a small city in the southeast of Tehran and Incheboroun is a border city in the northeast).

“Of course, part of this $5 billion resource will also be allocated to the Ministry of Energy projects,” he noted.

This Iranian officials further mentioned that negotiations on a $500 million loan from Azerbaijan Republic to finance the construction of Rasht-Astara railway in northern are underway.

Fakhrieh-Kashan stated that Iran’s Central Bank has concluded talks with Exim Bank of China to complete Tehran-Mashhad railway project, saying that the same pattern of negotiations and signing contracts would be followed in other projects as well.

“At the moment, we are finalizing a €3 billion financing contract with a specific German company for a specific project, of which €1.7 billion would be allocated to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.”

The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development announced the German delegates will visit Iran in the near future to finalize the €3 billion funding.

“Another project is the construction of Chabahar-Zahedan Railway in the southeast, with the participation of the Indians and perhaps the Japanese. In this regard, we have held talks with the Japanese company JICA,” pointed out Fakhrieh-Kashan.

He said in the Chabahar-Zahedan railway project and also for the development of the Makran region, Iran will receive Japan’s $10 billion finances.

“To use Japan’s $10 billion funds, we have proposed that two underground railways would be constructed from Tehran’s northeast to southwest and also northwest to southeast, which has not yet been approved, but the Japanese have expressed interest in joining the $9 billion project.”

He went on to say that this project, which is expected to be launched in seven years, runs an underground exit from Tehran to solve Tehran’s traffic problem forever.

“We have offered to receive Austria’s funding to provide us with rails. The Austrians are one of the world’s leading rail producers and could provide part of our needed rails.”

In response to a question on how much of the $55 billion government finances would be allocated to the Ministry of Road and Urban Development, he said, “Apart from the Tehran underground railway project, the ministry’s share of these funds is about $10-12 billion.”

Russia Ready to Host Talks between Iran, Saudi Arabia

Deputy FM Mikhail Bogdanov says Moscow is willing to mediate in establishing relations between Tehran and Riyadh, and is ready to host the talks between the two sides.

“We tried several times and offered [to help Iran and Saudi Arabia sit down at the negotiating table], but we do not impose our intermediary role,” Bogdanov told reporters, according to Sputnik.

“But we have always told our partners in both Saudi Arabia and Iran that we are ready to provide both a platform for contacts and friendly services.”

Bogdanov added that Moscow has always stressed the need to resolve the issues between Tehran and Riyadh.

“Many problems would have been much easier to resolve had there been mutual understanding and trust between the Islamic Republic and Saudi Arabia,” added Bogdanov.

Bogdanov emphasized that Moscow always tells Tehran and Riyadh that it is ready to report something from one side to another or to organize bilateral contacts. “These proposals remain on the table both with our Saudi and Iranian partners,” he highlighted.

Diplomatic ties between the Islamic Republic and the Arab kingdom were severed in 2016 after Iranian protesters attacked the Saudi embassy in Tehran, following the execution of prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr in Riyadh.

IRGC Popular in Baghdad, Erbil, Damascus, Beirut: Iran President

Speaking in a cabinet session held on Wednesday in Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani warned the US against making the ‘grave mistake’ of blacklisting the IRGC as a terrorist organization, and underlined its significance in regional fight against terrorism.

“It is totally clear today which government […] is violating the international regulations, and which country is respected by world nations,” Rouhani noted.

“It is totally clear today which government […] is violating the international regulations, and which country is respected by world nations,” Rouhani noted.

“If the US wants to make its next mistake by taking any measure against the IRGC, then that will be a grave mistake,” he noted, adding that the IRGC is not just a military organization, but a body that Iranian people love and has always defended the country’s national interests during days of danger.

“The IRGC is not just popular among the Iranian nation; it is also popular among the Iraqi people because it has saved Baghdad; among the Iraqi Kurds as it has saved Erbil; among the people of Damascus and Syria because it has saved Damascus.”

“It is also loved by the people of Lebanon because it has been a supporter of Lebanon’s dignity and independence. The IRGC has always helped the innocent people and stood against terrorists,” Rouhani added.

“The Americans wanted to keep ISIS in this region for 20 years and use it as an instrument; however, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps humiliated the ISIS by supporting the nations of Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon,” Rouhani said.

Therefore, he added, the US has every right to be angry with the IRGC.

“The Iranian Army, the IRGC, and the Basij [volunteer forces] are not separate from the nation,” the Iranian president said, stressing that there is no difference between various Iranian bodies when it comes to countering enemy plots

“We are all integrated and standing in the same line,” he underlined, adding that the resistant nation of Iran will stand against plots.

Iran Offering Latest Telecom Achievements at GITEX 2017

Hamid HoushyarifarWhat follows are highlights of an interview with the CEO of MAPFA, Hamid Houshyarifar:

MAPFA has been working on telecommunications software systems since 2010. Since 2003, it started working as a programming team and has managed to perform large projects for Iranian organizations. In 2008, MAPFA established the first-generation SDP platform that had the capacity to send 500 messages per second. Now the company is ten years old and has increased its capacity to 1,000 messages per second which proves our full technical and processing capabilities.

MAPFA Corporation has been endeavouring to export its software since 2016. Thank God, in the same year, we could sign a contract with Etisalat Telecommunications Company and launch Afghanistan’s Etisalat actually as the first phase of this SDP project.

At present, nearly 80 people work for the company and are busy in various departments of system and maintenance support. In the field of telecommunications software and operational SDP, MAPFA is the only company in possession of such technical knowledge inside the country and also the Middle East.

All the software systems of this company are produced by Iranian technicians and we have not used any foreign technology or received any help from foreign companies.

MAPFA has great capabilities to compete in this field across the region, but there are a lot of problems in the export of our software. Of course, with the assistance of the government and lifting of sanctions, some barriers have been removed, but there are still many problems.

For example, two years ago, MAPFA won two first-rate international bids in Zimbabwe by offering first-rate technical services and low prices, but due to the impossibility of issuing a bank guarantee, our company was practically removed from the list.

GITEX is one of the greatest exhibitions in the Middle East and the region, and is a great place to offer the capabilities of domestic companies. The objective of MAPFA is to attract new customers at GITEX 2017, but it also welcomes any partnership in manufacturing of products or supplements that complete the value-added-services’ delivery cycle.

Given that Iran is has the largest operator in the Middle East, MAPFA can use its experience to generate income and create employment in the neighbouring countries.

MAPFA is seeking to rank among the top five telecom software companies. Thank God, we have been doing well in the Middle East, but our main rivals are the Indians, Europeans, and the Chinese companies, which I hope we will surpass them soon.

The issue of Iran nuclear deal, also known as JCPOA, has remained a top story in Iranian newspapers amid the recent verdict issued for a former member of Iran’s nuclear negotiating team, the US stonewalling in JCPOA implementation, and the possibility of Trump’s withdrawal from the deal.

On Wednesday, several papers tried to predict Trump’s decision about his new Iran strategy and provide suggestions for Iran’s possible reaction to the US violation of the nuclear deal.

The conservative paper Kayhan, in its op-ed, said the US president is trying to intensify anti-Iran sanctions and deprive it of JCPOA benefits while keeping the nuclear deal.

Reformist papers also tried to introduce Abdol-Rasoul Dorri Esfahani, the former member of Iran’s nuclear negotiating team sentenced to 5 years in prison for espionage, as someone unrelated to the Foreign Ministry’s negotiating team.

Also on domestic issues, newspapers continued to warn about the increase in dollar rate and the country’s economic situation, while also releasing reports on the possibility of a change in Iran’s Constitution.

Top Iranian, Egyptian Officials Discuss Bilateral, Regional Issues

Top Iranian, Egyptian Officials Discuss Bilateral, Regional Issues

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the special aide to the Iranian Parliament speaker for international affairs, sat down on Tuesday with head of the Egyptian Interest Section in Tehran Yasser Osman.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed regional questions as well as key issues of mutual interest regarding bilateral parliamentary ties.

According to a Farsi report by ICANA, the latest regional developments also came up for discussion during the meeting.

Iran and Egypt have held no diplomatic ties since 1980 when Cairo offered asylum to the former shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and maintained peace treaties with Israel.

However, in recent years Tehran has voiced its preparedness to restore its relations with Cairo in case a set of conditions are prepared in both capitals.
