Gov’t Expected to Take Serious Action against Trump’s Remarks: Raisi

US Protests to Engulf Entire America: Iran's Top Judge

Raisi, who is now the Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi (Imam Reza’s holy shrine in Mashhad), said the smiles of US authorities in the past and their angry words today are not a new thing to the Iranians.

In a Farsi statement on Saturday quoted by Tasnim, Raisi said, “The fact is that the threats and insults of US president against Iran’s history, geography and grandeur, after four years of negotiations, provided a good experience for the Iranian people whose wise Leader had repeatedly predicted such things.”

“It has to be proved in practice that these threats and sanctions have no effect on our nation’s will. Hard work and being at the service of the nation while relying on our domestic capabilities is a practical means of standing up against the United States,” he stressed, calling on Rouhani’s government to take practical action against the US.

Raisi, meanwhile, hailed the harmony among the Iranian officials against Trump’s words, describing it as a “necessary auspicious event”.

Trump’s Anti-Iran Stances Reveal His Political Naivety: Larijani

Larijani

In two separate statements in Tehran and Russia’s Saint Petersburg, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani stressed that Trump’s stances towards Iran reveals his naivety in international affairs.

Before departing for Saint Petersburg on Thursday to take part in the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, Larijani touched on the US recent stance towards the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and Iran’s possible reaction to the stance. “I don’t think the international community takes the US stance towards JCPOA seriously,” he was quoted as saying by ICANA.

The parliament speaker went on saying “as far as I know the European states as well as Russia and China have a similar stance with Iran towards JCPOA.”

He stressed the unconsidered and emotional decision by Trump’s administration will create problems for the US and other states.

Larijani said that during a recent meeting between Iran and world powers in New York, no delegation backed Washington’s stance towards JCPOA and “all unanimously condemned the US aggressive approach.”

JCPOA Deemed as Int’l Document

The Iranian top parliamentarian also said all states view the JCPOA as an international treaty which has been passed by the United Nation Security Council. “This means that the JCPOA has become part of a resolution standing beyond the authority of a single state.”

He also referred to the latest statements by the US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, and said Tillerson claimed while Iranian were signing the JCPOA, they had to take this fact into account that the deal may change with the change of government in the US.

“If the American officials really view international treaties in this way, how can other states trust them and sit for talks? Such views reveal how childish is the mindset the US officials have when it comes to international issues.”

Larijani also added US stances towards the JCPOA are not significant. “We have had long discussions on the JCPOA in the parliament on Iran’s due response to the nuclear issue.”

The spokesperson of Iran’s parliament went on saying the Iranian nation is not concerned about US stance towards the JCPOA “because all states across the world have come to realize the stance of Iran and back us.”

Larijani also thanked Russia for its “accurate” stances during thew New York meeting and added other European states took similar stances.

The Iranian official added that Iran has made significant progress in the nuclear field and added Iran will continue its progress with a higher speed building on the international support behind the country.

“Iranian officials are not concerned about the future of Iran’s nuclear program because we have adopted various measures to cope with the US stances. There is no reason to behave emotionally and naively,” he concluded.

Trump’s Anti-Iran Rhetoric Tarnishes US Image

In a separate statement upon his arrival in Saint Petersburg, the Iranian speaker said Trump’s anti-Iran statements tarnishes Washington’s international image.

In response to a question on Trump’s accusations against Iran for its failure to live up to its commitments under the JCPOA, Larijani said the accusations are not new to the Iranians “because since taking office, Trump has leveled lots of weird and baseless accusations against Iran and we don’t take them seriously.”

He went on saying such statements considerably tarnish the US international image and added, “As you saw, most of the European and other states have vehemently slammed Trump for his anti-Iran rhetoric.”

The Iranian official also added Iran is closely monitoring the issue. “We are seeking patiently to find out the real motives behind Trump’s accusations.”

Larijani stressed that Iran rejects “ignorant and emotional” stances of the US officials and will do its best not to fall into their trap.

“We are closely monitoring the issue and will decide patiently after considering all aspects. We are also mindful of the media hype around the issue. Anyhow, we don’t take such statements seriously and will give a proper response to them,” he added.

Showing Humility Makes Arrogant Enemies More Impudent: Ahmadinejad

Ahmadinejad

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Iranian ex-president said the civilized Iranian nation, based on its divine teachings and historical understandings, has realized that showing arrogance against the arrogant is the same as being humble.

“Accordingly, the officials of the ninth and tenth administration of the Islamic Republic [his two terms in office] with an incomparable popular support, firmly stood up against the global arrogance vigilantly, and never let them deprive the Iranian nation of their rights,” he added.

Ahmadinejad further mentioned in the statement that the stance of the US government once again proved that they are not aware of the eminence, abilities and the authority of the Iranian nation, and are unable to understand of the divine-human qualities of the Iranians.

“They suppose that with psychological warfare and intimidation of a few they could open up the way for the Iranian nations’ surrender, gain historic privileges, and permanently restrict Iranians’ access to  progress.”

“However, if such actions were to make changes to the geography, culture, stance and positions of the Islamic Republic and its nation, there already existed more plundering rulers in history who had the same desires, but did not live to see their dreams come true,” underlined Ahmadinejad.

‘Trump Isolated by Own Party, Cabinet Members’

Iran’s ambassador to Britain has denounced recent anti-Iran comments made by US President Donald Trump.

“Trump’s wrath against the IRGC (Islamic Revolution Guards Corps) cannot have any reason other than ISIS’s back-to-back defeats by the IRGC in the region,” said Hamid Baeidinejad in a post in his Instagram page.

“In a speech full of hatred and violence, Trump announced his new policy toward Iran,” Baeidinejad, a former member of the Iranian nuclear negotiating team, further noted.

Here are the highlights of what else he wrote on his Instagram page:

Surprisingly enough, Trump termed the “Iranian nation” as a terrorist one and revealed his animosity toward Iran and its glorious history by distorting the name of the “Persian Gulf” [and using the misnomer “The A*ra*bian Gulf’ instead], which even runs counter to the official position of the US government and military. This is the first time the head of a foreign state has described a nation as terrorist. By calling Iranians terrorists and using a fabricated name to refer to the “Persian Gulf,” Trump indubitably provoked Iranians’ hatred of himself, Iranians with any affiliation and mentality.

Moreover, Trump made the disgusting remarks at a time when his approval ratings have hit rock bottom in the nine months he has been in office as president, making him the weakest US president in the country’s history. An overwhelming majority of the people, media outlets, politicians, intellectuals and even his closest European allies are among his most outspoken critics. The US secretaries of state and defense as well as many of his Cabinet members and Republicans in Congress are opposed to his key policies, including his approach on the Iran nuclear deal [known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the JCPOA]. Trump is alone and extremely isolated.

The United States’ status in the region is the weakest it has ever been as the country is in a mode of retreat on all fronts. Despite all his rhetoric, Trump does not dare make a decision that would lead to a US military buildup in the Middle East. Washington has minimized its role in Iraq and Syria as well, and has handed over the scene to other key players.

Despite Trump’s rhetoric and sharp criticism of the Iran nuclear deal, he failed to put into effect his real intention, i.e., tear up and annul the JCPOA, and it was proven that the deal has a very robust foundation. As a result and contrary to his own previous policies, Trump called on Congress to reinforce the JCPOA taking into account the viewpoints of Washington’s allies!

Despite all the eloquence he tried to use in his statement, Trump failed to create the slightest rift between the Iranian government and nation. His stance will, incontrovertibly, make the Iranian government and nation more united in continuing to move on the path they have already set foot it.

Shiite Cleric Hails Saudis’ Behaviour towards Iranian Hajj Pilgrims

Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi

Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi said he did not expect this year’s Hajj pilgrimage would be held so smoothly without any serious problem reported.

“Reports indicate that the Saudis treated Iranian pilgrims respectfully,” he was quoted as saying in a Farsi report by ISNA.

“We hope the problem of Hajj would be resolved via the prudent measures to be adopted by the Iranian officials,” he said, adding the Iranians should perform their religious obligations without any concerns.

As the Iranian pilgrims said, due to the prudent planning of the Hajj officials of the Islamic Republic, this year’s Hajj rituals were held smoothly and the Saudis had respectful behaviour towards the Iranians, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi added.

He went on to say Saudi Arabia has realized that it can’t deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran based on Washington’s divisive policies.

“That’s why they have decided to take their own way towards Iran and distinguish between the political and religious issues in bilateral ties,” he noted.

“The enemy plots will be thwarted if Muslims remain vigilant,” he added.

He then praised the Hajj officials and expressed hope that next years, the Iranian pilgrims can perform their religious rites without any problem.

EU, Russia, China Throw Weight behind Iran Nuclear Deal

Shortly after US President Donald Trump officially announced that he would not certify the nuclear deal, European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini said the US president is not in a position to terminate Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers.

Mogherini stressed that the 2015 accord reached between Iran and Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China as well as the US “does not belong to any single country”.

“To my knowledge there is not one single country in the world that can terminate a UN Security Council resolution that has been adopted, and adopted unanimously, and implemented, and verified,” she said.

“It is clearly not in the hands of any president of any country in the world to terminate an agreement of this sort. The president of the United States has many powers (but) not this one,” the EU foreign policy chief pointed out.

Mogherini underlined the EU’s determination to abide by the JCPOA, noting that the bloc expects the other parties to the deal to adopt the same stance.

“We cannot afford as an international community, as Europe for sure, to dismantle an agreement that is working and delivering,” she said.

EU, Russia, China Throw Weight behind Iran Nuclear Deal

The leaders of Britain, France and Germany also issued a joint statement, expressing concern over “the possible implications” of Washington’s decision.

British Prime Minister Theresa May, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said they “stand committed to its full implementation by all sides.”

“The nuclear deal was the culmination of 13 years of diplomacy and was a major step towards ensuring that Iran’s nuclear program is not diverted for military purposes,” said the statement released by May’s Downing Street office.

“We encourage the US administration and Congress to consider the implications to the security of the US and its allies before taking any steps that might undermine the JCPOA, such as re-imposing sanctions on Iran lifted under the agreement.

“Our governments are committed to ensuring the JCPOA is maintained,” the statement pointed out.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry denounced Trump’s new Iran strategy as one using “aggressive and threatening rhetoric” but said it expected the JCPOA to stay intact.

The ministry’s statement said it expected Trump’s decision “would not have a direct impact on the implementation of the deal” but was “an element of (US) domestic debate.”

French President

French President to Make Historic Visit to Tehran

Shortly after Trump’s speech, which was aimed at discouraging the world from working with Iran, French President Emmanuel Macron, after a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani, declared he has accepted the latter’s invitation and is going to pay and official visit to Tehran.

Macron’s visit to Iran would be the first by a French head of state or government since 1971. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian is also set to travel to the Islamic Republic in the next few weeks.

IAEA Reaffirms Iran’s Compliance with JCPOA

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also reconfirmed that Iran is fully implementing its commitments under the JCPOA.

“As I have reported to the Board of Governors, the nuclear-related commitments undertaken by Iran under the JCPOA are being implemented,” IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said in a statement on Friday evening.

Amano said upon a request by the Security Council and authorized by the IAEA’s Board of Governors, the international organization has been verifying and monitoring Iran’s implementation of its commitments under the JCPOA since January last year.

“The IAEA’s verification and monitoring activities address all the nuclear-related elements under the JCPOA. They are undertaken in an impartial and objective manner and in accordance with the modalities defined by the JCPOA and standard safeguards practice,” he added.

Tel Aviv, Riyadh Hail Trump’s Decision

Meanwhile, Israeli and Saudi Arabian authorities welcomed Trump’s decision not to certify the nuclear deal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Trump’s “courageous decision” on Iran, describing it as an opportunity to change the accord and the Islamic Republic’s conduct in the Middle East region.

“He (Trump) boldly confronted Iran… (and) created an opportunity to fix this bad deal, and to roll back Iran’s aggression,” the chairman of the Likud party said in a video posted on his Facebook page.

Israeli Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz (pictured below) also termed Trump’s anti-Iran rhetoric as “very significant,” stressing that such remarks could culminate in a military confrontation given the fitting response that Tehran had pledged.

“Absolutely, yes. I think that the speech was very significant. Iran is the new North Korea. We see where things are going,” Katz told Israel’s Hebrew-language Channel 2 television network when asked whether he saw a risk of war between the United States and Iran.

The official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) also reported that the Riyadh regime backs Trump’s “firm strategy” on Iran.

“The kingdom backs and welcomes the firm strategy on Iran and its aggressive policy that was announced by US President Donald Trump,” it said in a statement.

Iran Turns Oil-Polluted Lands into Green Belts

Iran Turns Oil-Polluted Lands into Green Belts

Jaber Neshati, the head of the Energy and Environment Department at Research Institute of Petroleum Industry, said after purging the area of pollution, Iranian experts used aromatic combinations to turn the lands into green belts.

In a Farsi interview with ISNA, Neshati went on saying the cleaning of the oil-polluted lands in the region was among the main projects launched by the Energy and Environment Department to protect the region’s environment.

“The operation to clean the polluted groundwater was carried out through a decomposition process using local microbes.”

He also added the experts have developed a technology to monitor the changes in groundwater combination and added the technology can provide the researchers with a comprehensive map of the polluted groundwater in the area.

Neshati said the experts have also developed a new bio-filtering system which plays a key role in the clearing operation of polluted groundwater.

Clearing Soil by Local Microbes

Another project launched in the region was purging the oil-polluted soil in the region from such pollution, he added.

“During the project, we used local microbes to clean the polluted lands and turn them into green belts,” he added.

Neshati said by launching the project, the experts have managed to clean 5,000 tonnes of oil-polluted soils in Siri region and 10,000 oil-polluted soils in Khangiran region, turning them into green belts.

“The third phase of the project is set to be launched in Khorasan province,” he added.

Production of Portable Sensors

Neshati also said the experts are now working on a project to produce a portable sensor capable of measuring the pollution degrees of pollutants.

He said the project is launched by Iran’s National Oil Company and added so far 25 sensors have been produced.

IRGC General Vows to Enhance Iran’s Defensive Power after Trump Speech

The corrupt and evil US administration should know that the Iranian Armed Forces will keep boosting the country’s defense power more vigorously, Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said on Friday night, hours after Trump’s hate speech against Iran.

In his remarks, Trump announced a new strategy for Iran, saying the strategy begins with imposing tough sanctions on the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). He also accused Iran of “proliferation of missiles and weapons that threaten its neighbor’s global trade and freedom of navigation.”

In response, General Jazayeri said the Iranian Armed Force would not hesitate for a moment to defend the oppressed around the world, even inside the United States of America.

The popular and mighty IRGC forces will prevent the US authorities from pursuing their dirty dreams, the general added.

In a televised address to the nation on Friday night, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani blasted the comments by Trump, reiterating that the Iranian nation will not surrender to such “false statements and hate speech.”

Iran Urges UN to Circulate Its Statement on Trump’s Speech

Gholam-Ali Khoshrou

Iran’s Ambassador to the UN Gholam-Ali Khoshroo handed over to Guterres the country’s reaction to Trump’s anti-Iran allegations, and asked him to circulate it as a UNSC document.

Here is the full text of Iran’s reaction to Trump’s speech, retrieved from the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s official website:

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Statement of the Islamic Republic of Iran
13 October 2017
Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Iranian foreign policy has been developed and implemented based on principles of international law and international rules and conventions; respect for sovereign equality of all states and non-interference in internal affairs of others have formed the cornerstone of relations with other countries. After decades of dictatorship, dependence on foreign powers – especially the United States – and constant interference of those powers in Iran’s internal affairs, the Iranian people, with their newly-established democratic government, had hoped to be able to finally build ties with neighbours based on equality and fraternity, free from political, economic and military rivalries; to form a peace-seeking nation that sought to replace enmity and bloodshed with friendship and cooperation. By contrast, the United States and its allies in the Persian Gulf region have persistently refused to accept realities of Iran and the region, and have vainly attempted to thwart the Iranian peoples’ quest for democracy and self-determination.

From the very first days of the Islamic revolution, the United States adopted a hostile, interventionist and destabilizing approach towards Iran’s newly-established government — with the aim of overthrowing it. The United States’ bleak record — staging several coup attempts, harbouring terrorists, openly supporting Saddam Hussein during the imposed war against Iran — even his use of chemical weapons against Iranians, aiding secessionist plots, downing an Iranian civil airliner, and hundreds of other conspiracies against the Islamic Republic of Iran and its people — is undeniable. Even before the Islamic Revolution, the United States sponsored a coup against the democratically-elected government of Iran in 1953, thereby showing its constant historic enmity with democracy and its support for dictators.

Terrorist groups — that have found safe haven in and plotted against the Iranian people from the United States over the past 38 years– murdered 17000 Iranians in the first few years following the Islamic Revolution. The Islamic Republic of Iran, while successfully establishing the highest standards of stability and security at home, has provided its advisory services to the people and security forces of Iraq and Syria, playing an indispensable role in combating terrorism, thwarting the Takfiri campaign to take over Damascus, Baghdad and Erbil, and helping uproot these groups from Iraq and Syria. The constructive role of our armed forces in combating terrorist groups — which the current US president himself cited during his campaign as having been created by the US — has been instrumental in eradicating this scourge. It is unfortunate that, instead of discarding terrorism as a tool and joining Iran’s genuine counter-terrorism efforts, the United States continues to misportray these constructive efforts as destabilizing.

The role of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in the frontlines of combating terrorism in the region is irrefutable. The Corps, a branch of Iran’s armed forces, has an impeccable track record of containing Takfiri terrorism, restoring gradual tranquillity for the people of the region as well as safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq and Syria. The Revolution Guards are regarded as national heroes for their role in the defence of Iranian territory against Saddam Hussein’s army. Any action by the US administration or Congress against the IRGC will constitute a strategic mistake and will draw the indignation of the Iranian people and a strong and unified reciprocal reaction. The US President will have to bear full responsibility for all consequences of his rogue behaviour.

The United States has defined its interest in generating and aggravating regional disputes, and exacerbating conflict and insecurity to fuel an arms race and create bigger markets for its weapons. On the other hand, Iran has identified its regional interests with good-neighbourliness, and peace and stability in the highly sensitive Persian Gulf region. This is in clear contrast with the publicly stated position of the current president of the United States, who in his campaign, publicly considered the war between Iran and Iraq as serving US interests, and more recently openly made his visit to the region contingent upon the sale of hundreds of billions of “beautiful weapons” — tools of destruction that are currently being used against defenceless children and the elderly in Yemen.

The crises in our region, including in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Bahrain, are rooted in occupation, illegal military interventions, and hegemonic designs of the United States in the region. In contrast, the Islamic Republic of Iran firmly believes that its national security interests can only be secured through dialogue, confidence building and multilateral cooperation within the region, and we are determined to actively contribute to the promotion of effective regional cooperation for peace and security. Iranian proposals for political settlements to end the horrifying wars in Yemen and Syria have been welcomed by the international community, and Iran has played a constructive role in every international initiative aimed at ending regional conflicts. Iran has also cooperated with Russia and Turkey effectively to de-escalate the violence in Syria, and stands ready to contribute actively to joint efforts with the United Nations Secretary General and other responsible countries – including other permanent members of the Security Council – and the European Union, to put an end to conflicts and violence.

The hostile policies of the United States and its regional allies, especially the Zionist regime, as well as the transfer of hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of arms into the region that have turned the region into a tinderbox require the Islamic Republic of Iran not to be complacent about the country’s defence needs. During the war imposed on us by Saddam Hussein’s regime, not only did the United States and its regional allies provide military, intelligence, logistical, economic and political assistance to Saddam, and offer their support and maintained their silence during his chemical weapons attacks campaign, they also did everything in their power to interdict the acquisition of even the most basic defensive capabilities by Iran. Through that experience we learned that in order to protect our people, safeguard our independence and security and defend our national honour, we must rely on indigenous capacities and not hesitate in developing the capability to meet the country’s legitimate defence needs. It is in this framework that Iran’s missile program has a purely defensive and deterrent character. Our missiles are strictly designed to carry conventional warheads and their range and precision are proportionate to our security environment and threat perception. It will continue with full force in accordance with our national defence program and is not, nor will it ever be, negotiable. When US allies in the region, whose combined population is far less than Iran, each spend exponentially higher sums on their military than Iran, why shouldn’t Iran — that has attacked no one in almost 300 years but has been the victim of aggression supported by the US and its regional partners — acquire necessary tools of deterrence in the face the constant threats by aggressors?

The antagonistic policies of the United States against Iran have also extended to the realm of advanced science and technology in past few decades. The United States has imposed restrictions that bar scientific and technological exchanges while also imposing sanctions in these fields. These actions serve no purpose but trying to hold back our technological development and prolong dependence on advanced powers. The efforts of our young scientists to acquire the knowledge for the development of a peaceful nuclear program has from its outset been met with propaganda, sanctions, cyber-attacks and even the assassination of our scientists. Iran has repeatedly stated that it wishes to utilize nuclear energy peacefully, and that we view weapons of mass destruction — including nuclear weapons — as disruptive to peace and security, and as such they will never have a place in our military doctrine. The International Atomic Energy Agency’s report and conclusion in 2015, rejecting accusations of Possible Military Dimensions (PMD), acknowledged the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities.

Iran has demonstrated its good will by entering into and its conclusion of nuclear negotiations with the P5+1 to resolve a fabricated crisis, and we have proven our fulfilment of our undertakings by the good-faith implementation of our commitments in accordance with the JCPOA. In contrast, the United States’ fulfilment of its commitments has been lacklustre and deficient from the very beginning, and in several cases — especially during the current administration — it has violated both the spirit and the letter of the JCPOA. The Islamic Republic of Iran has officially registered with the Joint Commission those violations, including failures in lifting of sanctions and policies preventing the establishment of an atmosphere necessary for normalization of trade and economic relations with Iran. The claim by the president of United States regarding Iran’s non-compliance has no international relevance or credibility, since the IAEA, as the sole authority to conduct such monitoring and verification, has repeatedly confirmed Iran’s full compliance with its commitments under the JCPOA. This proves once again that the United States is not a reliable negotiating partner.

The JCPOA is a valid international instrument and an outstanding achievement in contemporary diplomacy. It cannot be renegotiated or altered. The nuclear deal is not a bilateral agreement that can be annulled by unilateral action, but a deal endorsed by the international community and incorporated as a part of Security Council Resolution 2231. Other JCPOA participants, as well as the rest of the international community, should not allow the president of the United States to continue to mock and undermine the deal. The Islamic Republic of Iran will not be the first to withdraw from the deal, but if its rights and interests in the deal are not respected, it will stop implementing all its commitments and will resume its peaceful nuclear program without any restrictions.

Today, the United States is more isolated globally than ever before and the veracity of Iran’s policies and positions have become evident to the international community. The world has witnessed that over the past several weeks, most countries have been unified in supporting the JCPOA and the Islamic republic and rejecting US policies. The international community views Iran as a responsible actor endeavouring to promote peace and will not give any credence to rogue actors further isolating themselves every day by withdrawing from one or another international agreement and organization.

The difference between Iranian and US policies on many international and regional issues are clear and undeniable. Because of their miscalculations, various US administrations have aggravated these differences into open hostility against the people of Iran. In spite of all these animosities, embodied mostly in illegal threats and sanctions, the people of Iran have resiliently persisted in their quest for justice and independence. Iran has reached the pinnacles of influence and strength through relying on its own people and its indigenous capabilities, benefitting from the prudent and wise guidance of Ayatollah Khamenei, who has personified the dignity and integrity of the Iranian people, following the footsteps of the late Imam Khomeini. The new US rulers must not forget the hard lessons of the past four decades; they should not forget that previous administrations — who by uttering similar fallacies put themselves in open rivalry with the Iranian people – were forced to retreat from such imprudent utterances.
