Iraqi PM Abadi Arrives in Tehran

Abadi is going to hold talks with Iranian officials after his visit to the Turkish capital Ankara.

The Iraqi premier traveled to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan before his trip to Turkey.

According to a Farsi report by IRNA, Abadi said on Tuesday that the goal of his trip to the regional countries is to elaborate on the Iraq’s approach to the future of the region.

An Iraqi MP had earlier announced that the main focus of the talks between the Prime Minister of Iraq and the Iranian and Turkish officials will be to stop any economic and commercial interaction with the Iraqi Kurdistan region without the acquiescence of the federal government.

Iran to Open Interests Section in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah

Based on the document signed on Wednesday, Switzerland will represent the Islamic Republic’s interests in Saudi Arabia.

Once certain executive arrangements are made, Iran’s Interests Section with Iranian diplomats will be opened in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah in the near future.

Iran to Open Interests Section in Saudi Arabia’s JeddahSaudi Arabia broke off its ties with Iran in January 2016 in protest at demonstrations in front of its diplomatic premises in Tehran and Mashhad against its execution of leading Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

Ties began to deteriorate following a human crush in Mina, near the Saudi holy city of Mecca, in September 2015, which killed thousands of pilgrims, including hundreds of Iranians. The incident cast doubt on the kingdom’s efficiency in hosting the rituals.

Tensions between the two countries eased considerably recently during preparations for the pilgrimage this year when Iranian Hajj officials and diplomats met with Saudi officials to discuss arrangements for Iranian pilgrims.

North Korean Leader Visits Trump Tower!

At first glance, the man seems exactly the same as Jong-un. He may even have worn heavy makeup to look more similar to the North Korean leader, a Farsi report by Fararu website said on Tuesday.

In response to a question raised by a visitor to the tower about his presence in the building, the man said with a sense of humor, “I’ve come to visit my old friend, the well-known American Basketball player, Dennis Rodman.”

It’s noteworthy that Rodman used to play in NBA league. Interestingly enough, he has good relations with North Korean leader. He is now on a visit to North Korea. He once said he can draw on his friendship with Jong-un to mediate between him and US President, Donald Trump.

Amano’s Tehran Visit Sign of IAEA’s Strong Support for Iran Nuclear Deal

Yukiya Amano

“In order to attend a fresh round of bilateral meetings between the UN nuclear watchdog’s officials and Iranian authorities, IAEA Director-General Yukiya Amano will arrive in Tehran on Saturday,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said in a Wednesday statement.

According to Qassemi, Amano’s short visit is aimed at reviewing the latest situation of mutual cooperation and communications between the two sides in various fields including the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), the IAEA Safeguards, and nuclear collaborations in peaceful affairs.

Stressing that Amano has confirmed Iran’s full compliance with its JCPOA commitments in all of his previous reports to the Board of Governors, Qassemi said, “In the current atmosphere created by the American officials’baseless and unacceptable allegations against the nuclear deal, Amano’s visit to Tehran is a strong indication of the IAEA’s decisive support for JCPOA.”

Iran Urges Saudi FM to Stop Pursuing Wrong, Futile Approaches

Qassemi

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi has reacted to recent remarks by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir in a meeting in London.

“It is highly regrettable that the Saudi foreign minister still insists on following the same wrong, costly and futile approach pursued by this country (Saudi Arabia) over the recent years, and is continuing to bang the drum for tension and violence as well as destructive behaviour and policies,” said Qassemi in a Wednesday statement.

“Saudi officials should reconsider their approach and views, and, instead of showing infatuation with, and becoming overexcited by the United States’ repetitive and useless words and policies vis-à-vis Iran, find a decent way out of the domestic and regional crises they are grappling with,” he went on to say.

Qassemi warned that the approach adopted by the Saudi government will cause the Kingdom, its people and the region to fall victim to Saudi Arabia’s illusionary, wrong and superficial calculations.

He also advised Riyadh to accept the realities in the region based on farsightedness and in accordance with their interests and responsibilities and without any prejudice and obstinacy.

The Guardian Council’s controversial decision to prevent a Zoroastrian member-elect of Yazd’s City Council from taking office grabbed the headlines today. Several papers argued that the Guardian Council’s insistence on its decision comes as religious minorities including Zoroastrians have representatives in the Iranian Parliament, which is a higher-ranking body of government in Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s visit to Africa also received great coverage by economic papers. Iran is trying to use the African continent as an opportunity to expand its business and promote the export of Iranian goods.

Chief of UN’s Nuclear Watchdog to Visit Iran Saturday

Yukiya Amano

Amano is slated to arrive in Tehran on Saturday and hold talks with high-ranking Iranian officials on Sunday about a range of issues, including the implementation of 2015 nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The head of the UN nuclear watchdog plans to meet Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi among others.

The visit would come as US President Donald Trump, in a major confrontational stance against Iran, refused to certify the multilateral deal on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Speaking from the White House on October 13, Trump said he will choose not to certify that Tehran is complying with the agreement.

Since the historic deal was signed in Vienna, the IAEA has repeatedly confirmed the Islamic Republic’s compliance with its commitments under the JCPOA, but some other parties, especially the US, have failed to live up to their undertakings.

Iran’s Defensive Capabilities Not Open to Negotiation: Leader

Iran’s Defensive Capabilities Not Open to Negotiation: Leader

“We have already declared, and once again announce that the country’s defensive capability is not open to negotiation and bargaining,” the Leader said in a Wednesday address to a cadet graduation ceremony in Tehran.

“[It is not acceptable] that they say why you have such defensive weapon, why you produce it, why you research about it; we do not hold any negotiation with our enemy over what secures our national might,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

“Today they say why your power has engulfed the entire region,” the Leader noted, stressing that what constitutes Iran’s national might is considered by the enemies as an intrusive element, which should be fought.

“They voice opposition to the development of the Islamic Republic’s power in the region and beyond the region because it is the country’s strategic depth,” he went on to say.

“Our dear Iran once used to be humiliated under the boots of American, Zionist, and British advisors,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted, adding that the Islamic Republic made the country powerful.

Iran Invited to Manufacture Agricultural Machinery in Uganda

Manufacture Agricultural Machinery

In a Wednesday meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Kampala, Kutesa said Uganda tries to prepare the grounds for increased presence of Iranian firms in the African state.

“Iranian companies will be able to operate in Uganda in various fields including the production, assembly, and export of agricultural machinery,” he noted.

The Ugandan FM also highlighted the continuation of his country’s positive cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in international bodies.

Zarif, for his part, called for further expansion of bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two sides at different levels.

He also referred to the high-ranking delegation accompanying him in his visit to Kampala, and expressed the hope that Iran and Uganda would start their mutual economic cooperation as soon as possible.

Zarif and Kutesa also discussed latest regional and international developments.
