Iran Leader’s Aide Describes Putin as “Logical, Brave” Politician

Shortly after a meeting with Putin, Velayati referred to the upcoming summit between Trump and Putin in Helsinki and said it is unlikely that Trump adopts a logical stance in his meeting with Putin.

Velayati described Putin as a logical, brave and predictable politician with clear positions, saying, “Their summit is significant and the whole world should be aware that Trump is not striding in the right direction and he is delusional when it comes to running his country,” he said.

He further noted that Iran has no plan for holding any negotiation with the US, particularly the Trump administration

Velayati referred to the US’ illegal withdrawal from the multinational Iran nuclear deal and said Washington violated the very deal which had been confirmed by the United Nations Security Council.

“Amid such situation, is it logical for us to sit for talks with the US to hear unsubstantiated remarks?” he was quoted as saying in a report by IRNA.

He said the US claims it will not allow the Islamic Republic of Iran to export oil through Persian Gulf, adding, Iran’s reply, as announced by President Hassan Rouhani was explicit, that is, if Iran is not allowed to export oil through Persian Gulf, no other regional states could do so.

Touching on Iran-Russia relations in the oil area, Velayati said Iran sells oil to Russia and receives its money.

The way President Putin sat in front of Velayati sparked positive reactions by experts and diplomats, who described it as a sign of warm and strategic ties between the two countries.

“We have got accustomed to problems facing in selling our oil over the past decades. We don’t see any serious problem. The sanctions could hamper our efforts but we know how to market and sell our oil amid the sanctions,” he said.

He went on to say that the Islamic Republic has signed agreements with three Russian oil companies and “Putin has expressed his country’s preparedness to make investment in Iran.”

According to Velayati, Iran-Russia relations date back to 500 years ago and the relations are too strong to be overshadowed by trivial issues. “Tehran attaches significant importance to its relations with Moscow and the two sides have good cooperation in Syria.”

He then referred to the anti-Iran campaign of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said Iran doesn’t care about his moves and even the western countries have realized that his words should not be taken seriously.

Britons Design Creative Trump Blimps to Protest His Visit (+Photos)

London activists were highly involved in arrangements for protests against Trump’s four-day visit to the UK. Designing creative effigies of Trump was among the main measures adopted by the Londoners to express their anti-Trump protests.

Thousands of protesters also marched through the streets of London on Friday as Trump met Prime Minister Theresa May and the Queen earlier on Friday.

Trump travelled to Britain, Washington’s key ally, one and a half years after he took office as president. During his stay, Trump meet with Queen Elizabeth, PM May and other UK officials.

Trump was scheduled to visit Britain in June 2017, but Britons were opposed to his trip because of his anti-Muslim policies and his executive order that banned migrants of some Islamic countries from entering the US.

Objections to Trump’s trip to Britain did not stop there, and those opposing his immigration and other racist policies such as his support for supremacists or right-wing extremists in Britain staged a protest rally in early 2017. They threatened to stage the largest demonstration in the UK’s history if Trump travelled to their country.

Afterwards, Trump’s trip to the UK was postponed several times.

Belgium Highly Dangerous in Counterattacks: AFC Instructor

Masoud Eqbali, a senior AFC instructor, believes the British team is not capable of controlling Belgian stars.

In a recent interview with Azad News Agency, Eghbali said most of the Belgian team members play for leading clubs in the world, adding the players have contributed considerably to their teams’ success thanks to their high capabilities as well as their exceptional mental power.

“The Belgian team enjoys extraordinary halfbacks including Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Michael Hazard and Mertens. Their defence line is also highly prepared with their goalkeeper in an ideal physical condition. The team can be highly dangerous in counterattacks,” he added.

“Interestingly enough, among the nations with highly professional leagues like England, Spain and Germany, it was the Britons who managed to reach the Semis. This reveals that their players hadn’t recovered fully yet from the huge pressure exerted on them by their club matches,” he said.

Eqbali then referred to the physical preparedness of the participating teams in the 2018 World Cup’s semis and added the factor of chance played its role in the success or failure of many teams during the tournament.

The play-off match for the third-place will be held between England and Belgium within a few hours. The two teams suffered defeats against Croatia and France in the Semis, and are going to play their second match in the 2018 tournament. Earlier in the Group Stage, Belgium defeated England 1-0 with a goal by Adnan Januzaj.

The Saturday match will be officiated by Iranian referee Alireza Faghani and his assistants Reza Sokhandan and Mohammad-Reza Mansouri.

Trump’s Policies to Lead to Multipolar World: British AnalystRodney Shakespeare, a British political commentator, has, in an interview with Fars News Agency, weighed in on Trump’s trip to Britain and its ramifications.

He referred to the massive protest rallies against his visit, saying British people are fed up with Trump.

Shakespeare said Trump reneged on Washington’s commitments under the Iran nuclear deal, breached the Paris Climate Agreement and has dragged the world into a trade war. He said Trump is an anti-Muslim figure as well.

Therefore, the commentator noted, the UK government has arranged Trump’s trip in such a way that he will visit anywhere, but London.

He said the UK and the US had special relations in the past, but now the US is not reliable. There is no way London can trust the Trump administration when it comes to having good trade relations with the US, added the analyst.

According to the commentator, Trump is selfish and unwise, so the US and Britain are unlikely to have special relations in the future.

Shakespeare said the Trump administration has affected and harmed transatlantic relations permanently. He said the US definitely has a lot of political and military power at the moment, but its political power is diminishing to a great extent. He noted the United States’ economic power is deteriorating as well. He said the world is changing, and a multipolar world will soon emerge.

He said Trump has clearly announced that NATO members in Europe must allocate more spending to the organization, and added Trump will likely go ahead with his demand. He said Europe will probably decide to form its own army, in which case NATO could be greatly weakened.

The commentator also touched upon Britain’s plan to leave the European Union. He said London plans to have better trade relations with the US after the Brexit goes into effect, but this is a far-fetched idea. He said Britain favours free trade relations, but Trump is unlikely to be happy with it.

Shakespeare also touched upon the Iran issue. He said negotiations over Iran have no chance of success. The analyst said Trump intends to bring Iran’s oil exports to zero.

According to the commentator, there is only one way that Washington can do this, and that is to station vessels in the Persian Gulf, so that Iranian oil tankers will not be able to leave ports.

He said President Rouhani has also announced that if Iran’s petroleum exports are stopped, there will be no replacement for it.

He further noted that Trump not only wants to wreck the Iran nuclear deal, but is determined to shatter Iran. Shakespeare said he believes there is no chance for talks over Iran, and even if negotiations take place, they will result in no change.

Legislation Watchdog Rejects FATF Amendments to Iran’s CTF Law

Foreign Ministry Condemns FATF’s Blacklisting of Iran

Speaking in a presser in Tehran on Saturday, Abbasali Kadkhodaei said the council’s members have found the legislation to be in violation of Iran’s Constitution,

According to a report by Tasnim News Agency, Kadkhodaei said the members believe introducing such amendments are not within the area of responsibility of the parliament and they should instead be presented by the Judiciary.

Kadkhodaei also said the Guardian Council has also rejected legislation to join the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime known as Palermo Convention.

The spokesman said the council has found three faults with the legislation, including that it is against Resistance Economy principles and also against security policies of the country.

The two sets of legislation have been sent back to the parliament to be modified, the spokesman said.

If lawmakers do not accept the Guardians Council’s view, the legislation will be sent to the Expediency Council, which is entrusted with acting as an arbiter between the two bodies.

Iran’s implementation of FATF standards has become highly controversial in recent months. Iran has for many years found itself in a blacklist of countries not doing enough to combat money laundering and terrorism financing by the G7-created FATF.

Following the January 2016 implementation of the JCPOA, the FATF suspended countermeasures against the country and entered into talks with the Iranian government that led to an action plan.

Opponents of FATF argue joining the organization makes the country vulnerable to outside meddling and it could hamper Iran’s support for allies such as Hezbollah.

But advocates believe the return of Iran to the FATF’s blacklist will isolate Iran from the global economy and provide support for those who seek to undermine JCPOA.

Moreover, the advocates, including Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, believe that joining the FATF will pose no security threat against the country.

In its last meeting held on June 29, the FATF lamented that “Iran’s action plan has expired with a majority of the action items remaining incomplete” and gave Iran until October to implement necessary reform.

This is while Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei recently suggested that Iran did not have to join international conventions such as FATF when the consequences are not clear.

Speaking on June 20, the Leader said the parliament should pass legislation to combat money laundering according to its own criteria.

Iran Says US Sanctions Great Opportunity for Domestic Producers

Rouhani made the comment at the end of a joint meeting of the heads of three branches of government on Saturday.

He said the current situation will also be a good chance for exporters to offer domestically-produced goods on foreign markets.

Rouhani noted that the government has set aside the foreign currency needed to provide basic commodities for people in the country.

He said US sanctions will not cause major problems for Iran in the fields of energy, transportation, basic goods and production.

The president underlined that Washington’s sanctions are aimed at pressuring Iranian people.

He said the policies adopted by the White House vis-à-vis Iran, Middle East countries and even its own allies cannot continue.

President Rouhani underscored that the Iranian government and people will continue to work in tandem to foil enemy plots through resistance, planning and engagement with friendly states.

The president said the Iranian government will press ahead with plans to create jobs.

He said plans have also been set in motion to hand over unfinished projects to people and the private sector.

President Rouhani underlined that the US is isolated in the eyes of world nations, and is “more isolated than ever among Iranian people” over the sanctions it is imposing on the country.

He said the US government is hated in the Muslims world while facing problems at home, too.

Tehran Urges Paris to Stand against US’ Unilateralism

In a message to his French counterpart on Saturday, President Rouhani congratulated France’s government and nation on the Bastille Day, the national day of France which is celebrated on July 14 every year.

In the congratulatory message to Emmanuel Macron, the Iranian president has expressed the hope that mutual cooperation between Tehran and Paris and using the common views and the existing capacities would strengthen their age-old relations at the bilateral, regional and international levels.

President Rouhani also hoped that joint efforts could help to counter the policy of unilateralism pursued by certain countries and to uphold multilateralism.

In the 18th century, France was in deep economic and political crisis and people were unhappy with King Louis XVI’s reign, which was dominated with food shortages and high taxes.

Iran Finishes 4th at Int’l Brain Bee Contests

Mahsa Arman managed to secure the fourth place at the event which brought together participants from 25 countries.

The contest was held in parallel with a conference of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies.

The IBB contests are held every year in a different country in conjunction with a neuroscience conference, ISNA said in a Saturday report.

Iran’s Top General to Visit Pakistan

The visit will be made upon invitation by Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Fars News Agency reported on Saturday.

During the visit, Baqeri and his Pakistani counterpart will discuss latest developments in the region and explore ways of strengthening bilateral defence ties, border cooperation and anti-terror coordination.

The two generals will also follow up on agreements made during the visit of Bajwa to Iran last year.

The visit comes against a backdrop of improved border cooperation among the two countries, which has led to reduced attacks against Iranian troops in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province by terrorists residing in Pakistan.

The border was a source of considerable tensions between Tehran and Islamabad, with Iran complaining Islamabad is lax in controlling the border.
