Iran Rejects Accusations Raised in US’ Report on Terrorism

“The unfounded and baseless accusations levelled by the US against the Islamic Republic of Iran come as the Saturday terrorist attack on a military parade in Iran’s southwestern city of Ahvaz revealed to the world Iran is one of the main victims of terrorism,” Qassemi said in a Sunday statement.

“This is a completely clear and objective reality which has been neglected by regimes like that of the US over the past four decades. Such regimes continue to view their support for extremist and terrorist groups as a means to press ahead with their goals while pretending to be fighting terrorism,” he added.

Qassemi went on to say that various US administrations have long been adopting the policy of creating, strengthening, supporting and deploying terrorist groups in various parts of the world in order to implement their macro strategies for destabilizing other states.

“Publishing such annual reports, which are more like a blame game aimed at acquitting oneself and accusing others, unveils the US’ double and conflicting standards over the past decades,” he noted.

He said the Trump administration’s explicit support for notorious terrorist groups who have the blood of thousands of innocent Iranian civilians on their hands reveals the absurd and fake humanitarian and anti-terrorism gestures of Washington.

The spokesman then referred to the US regime’s support for several extremist and terrorist groups over the past years which led to a chain of crises in the Middle East and said the US accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran come as Washington’s contribution to the terrorist and extremist activities in the world as well as its new role in protecting the remnants of terrorists in Syria and transferring foreign terrorists to Afghanistan and central Asian states are no secret any more.

“Based on its policy of using terrorism as an instrument and its belief in good and bad terrorism, the US continues to prolong the lifetime of the nasty phenomenon of terrorism in the world particularly in the Middle East. The US must be held accountable for the brutal behaviours and measures of the groups,” he noted.

The spokesman advised the US administration and officials to abandon their old policies of promoting Iranophobia and levelling unfounded and unrealistic accusations against the country and called on them to correct their mistakes and wrong policies towards the region through certain measures including cutting its connection with known and unknown terrorist cells.

He also said the US administration should begin its fight against regional terrorism and extremism through fully transparent coordination with the regional states.

The US should also replace its policy of supporting terrorist groups to kill innocent people with the new policy of serving humans and humanity, he added.

IRGC Vows to Take Revenge for Ahvaz Terrorist Attack

In a Sunday statement, the IRGC promised to spare no effort under the guidance of the country’s upper leadership to prepare the ground and provide the required tools to chase the perpetrators in the region and beyond and put them on trial.

“The terrorist attack by the brutal mercenaries of the global arrogant powers and regional reactionary states in Ahvaz revealed that the sworn enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran particularly the western-Arabic-Hebrew triangle are seeking to create insecurity inside Iran to cover up their earlier failures to advance their regional plots,” the statement said.

The IRGC also noted that to achieve their nasty goals, the enemies are ready to even massacre innocent people including women and children.

The statement then underlined that the attack on Ahvaz military parade will have no effect on the firm resolve of Iran’s Islamic Establishment and people.

Relying on its experiences in fight against terrorism, the IRGC would take revenge against the mercenaries of the self-proclaimed defenders of human rights as well as the sponsors of the terrorist groups in the region.

At least 25 people were killed and over 60 others injured in the terrorist attack on a parade in Ahvaz held to mark the Sacred Defence Week in Iran.

The IRGC’s statement came after the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei ordered the country’s security forces to find the perpetrators of the terror attack and have them punished by the Iranian Judiciary.

Iran Summons UAE Envoy over Remarks on Ahvaz Attack

“Following the absurd remarks made by an Emirati political advisor over the Ahvaz terrorist attack, the political department of the Iranian foreign ministry summoned the Arab country’s charge’ d’affaires and expressed the Islamic Republic’s strong protest over the irresponsible and insulting remarks,” Qassemi said on Sunday.

During the meeting, he said, the UAE diplomat was warned that any overt support for terrorist attacks by people affiliated to official centres in the Arab country will have legal responsibility for the UAE government.

Qassemi stressed that the UAE’s indifference towards the issue is not acceptable to the Islamic Republic.

The comments came after Abdulkhaleq Abdulla, a university professor who used to serve as an advisor to Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, said the attack by militants on a military parade was not an act of terror.

In a tweet immediately after the terrorist attack, Abdulla said the attack was part of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s vow to bring the conflict inside the Iranian territory, and more will come in the future.

Earlier, Iran also summoned the British, Dutch and Danish envoys over the terrorist attack. At least 25 people, among them women children, were killed when terrorists targeted a military parade in Ahvaz.

Iran Raps Trump’s Pressure on Oil Pruducers to Boost Output

Iran’s Petroleum Minister Bijan Zanganeh described last week’s tweet message by Trump in which he linked US support for the countries of the region to oil prices as insulting, emphasizing that producers should not be “terrified” by such attempts and refrain from changing their production policies.

Zanganeh was referring to a tweet message by Trump on Thursday in which he had threatened that his administration would respond to the failure by regional countries inside the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to do enough to help lower oil prices.

“We protect the countries of the Middle East, they would not be safe for very long without us, and yet they continue to push for higher and higher oil prices! We will remember,” Trump said, adding, “The OPEC monopoly must get prices down now!”

“In my opinion, President Trump’s statement is the biggest insult to US-friendly states and nations in the region,” Zanganeh said.

In a similar gesture in July, the US president had accused OPEC of driving fuel prices higher and called on the US allies inside the Organization including Saudi Arabia to pump more if they wanted Washington to continue protecting them against Iran.

This drew an immediate reaction from Tehran which described the move as insult to the OPEC and accused Washington of trying to use political pressures to change the policies of the Organization.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian minister expressed hope Sunday’s meeting of the OPEC and non-OPEC monitoring committee in Algeria would not be impacted by Trump’s threat.

Zanganeh criticized any decision by the committee to allow a rise in output by producers.

“Based on rumors, the OPEC and non-OPEC monitoring committee is planning to present a production increase figure under the pretext of compensating the fall in Iran’s production,” he said. This, he said, is outside the scope of the committee’s responsibilities.

On Thursday, the Iranian minister had warned fellow OPEC members against any effort to appease the US, stressing that Tehran would veto any decision by the Organization that risked any harm to Iran’s national interests.

He said the agreement reached in 2016 between OPEC member states and allied producers to cut output was “in tatters”, adding that monitoring committee formed by producers had no authority to impose a new supply deal.

Rouhani Leaves Tehran for New York to Attend UNGA

Speaking to reporters before starting the trip, President Rouhani said the UN General Assembly meeting is a general forum where Iran can express its viewpoints on regional and international issues.

The president said he will also have an opportunity to sit down with world leaders on the fringes of the event. Also on his agenda, said Rouhani, is to meet Muslims, politicians and journalists there.

The president then lashed out at the United States’ bullying.

“Most importantly, today, the Americans are showing off their bullying posture to the world more than ever before and pressing ahead with their unilateralism. They believe whoever has power can make decisions for the world, and believe whoever has the right of veto can do whatever they want at the UN Security Council,” he said.

The president said because the United States is hosting the UN, it believes it has sweeping powers at the world body.

“In my opinion, the current situation and government of the White House today is different from those of the US in the past. Today, those who are in power in the US do not respect any international laws and any treaties. They do not abide by their own trade pacts with others, nor the UN Human Rights Council, nor the Paris Agreement, and they violate almost all international regulations,” he said.

He also criticized Washington’s unilateralism and ultra-nationalism.

Terrorists behind Ahvaz Attack Funded by Persian Gulf State: Iran

Hassan Rouhani made the comment in a press briefing before leaving Tehran for New York where he is going to attend the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly.

President Rouhani described the Ahvaz terrorist attack as very sorrowful, saying the perpetrators of the deadly attack followed in the footsteps of their predecessors who supported former Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.

“They were the people who stayed on Iraqi soil and after the end of the war … they were in the pay of criminal Saddam Hussein until he was alive. Afterwards, they changed their master. One of the countries to the south of the Persian Gulf undertook to give them financial, arms and political support. They never regretted their crimes, nor did they stop their crimes,” said the president.

“It is completely clear to us who did this (the Ahvaz terror attack), what group they are and who they are affiliated to,” Rouhani noted.

He said those who claim to be supporters of human rights should be answerable for such crimes.

Rouhani’s comments came as an advisor to the Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates, in a Saturday tweet, implicitly supported the attack on Ahvaz, and said it was not an act of terrorism.

Abdulkhaleq Abdulla said in his tweet the Ahvaz attack was part of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s vow to bring the conflict inside the Iranian territory, and more will come in the future.

In reaction to the comments, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday the UAE envoy to Tehran will be summoned to receive Tehran’s protest against the unacceptable remarks.

Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei also condemned the comments and vowed to give a crushing response to the UAE.

Iran Urges Ofcom to Punish London-Based Channel for Supporting Ahvaz Terrorists

“In a shameless move, the Iran International channel aired an interview by the spokesman for the terrorist group which slaughtered a lot of people today,” Iran’s Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad tweeted on Saturday.

“Iran’s embassy in London condemns this and will immediately seek a serious response by the UK’s communications regulator Ofcom to the move which promotes terrorism and violence,” he said.

Four gunmen opened fire on civilians and military personnel near a military parade commemorating the beginning of the Sacred Defence Week, marking the start of the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s war in 1980.

The separatist group Al-Ahwazieh claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack, which left at least 25 dead and over 60 injured.

All the assailants were shot dead following the attack.

‘Professional Responsibility’

Shortly afterwards, the TV channel responded to Baeidinejad’s tweet, saying the interview was carried out after Iranian media blamed the group for the attack.

“Our goal was to fulfil our professional responsibility and have the official reaction of the group and the channel’s anchor challenged the spokesman on this move,” he said.

The network’s response met with criticism from Baeidinejad, who vowed to make every effort to hold the channel accountable for the illegal move.

“So you were fully aware when you had this shameless interview with the representative of the terrorist group and gave them an opportunity to justify their brutal behaviour,” he said.

In reaction to the move by the London-based channel, Iran even summoned the British interim charge d’affaires to protest at the unacceptable move.

“The interim British chargé d’affaires in Tehran was summoned in the absence of this country’s ambassador, and it was stressed to him that in the eyes of the Islamic Republic of Iran, it is not acceptable, whatsoever, for the spokesperson of the al-Ahwazi terrorist group to be allowed to claim responsibility for this terrorist act via a London-based TV network,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has ordered the country’s security forces to use all their power to identify and punish those behind the deadly attack.

Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the US puppet states in the region were behind the attacks.

Iran Saves $540m by Decreasing Sugar Imports

The remarks were made by Deputy Agriculture Minister Abbas Keshavarz. He says sugar production in 2017 was more than two million tonnes, which grew more than 80 percent in comparison to 2013, and was unprecedented in the industry’s 123-year life.

“The agricultural sector requires a profound transformation in the use of technology and capital, as it cannot be managed with traditional methods,” he said.

According to a report by the government’s official website (dolat.ir), the official explained that the strategy of the Agriculture Ministry is to develop a mechanisation adapted to the climatic conditions of the country, adding that at present, a large part of agricultural mechanisation is produced inside the country.

Keshavarz also called for the parliament’s assistance to develop research institutes to raise the level of agricultural knowledge in the country.

He noted that agriculture requires a new perspective that is well-known in the world, but the country needs the help of researchers to execute it.

“We must manage the water resources and build our country by setting the traditional methods aside. We need to change our approach, and the private sector must be a forerunner in this regard,” noted Keshavarz.
