Qatar FM Meets Zarif in Tehran to Discuss De-Escalation

Qatar FM Meets Zarif in Tehran to Discuss De-Escalation

Foreign Minister of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning and held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif at Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

In the meeting, the two senior diplomats discussed the latest developments in the bilateral relations between Iran and Qatar and the most important regional and international developments, particularly the new conditions in Iraq as well as the assassination of IRGC Quds Force Commander Major General Qassem Soleimani.

Describing as “delicate and worrying” the current stressful situation in the region following the Friday developments and the US assassination of the Iranian commander, the Qatari foreign minister said a peaceful solution must be found to reduce the tensions and restore calm to the region.

For his part, Foreign Minister Zarif denounced the terrorist measure by the American military forces to assassinate General Soleimani and held the US regime accountable for the consequences of the attack.

The Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek tensions in the region, but the presence and interference of the foreign and extra-regional forces have caused instability, insecurity and escalation of tensions in our delicate region,” Zarif added.

The Iranian and Qatari foreign ministers also hailed the very good bilateral relations in all fields, and stressed the need to expand and deepen the ties.

Iran to Use Military Option to Avenge US Killing of Gen. Soleimani

Majid Takht-e Ravanchi

“In fact, it was an act of war on the part of the United States against the Iranian people,” Majid Takht-e Ravanchi told CNN’s OutFront program on Friday.

The strike was “a new chapter, which is tantamount to opening a war against Iran,” he reiterated.

“The response for a military action is a military action,” the envoy noted. “By whom? By… when? Where? That is for the future to witness,” he said.

On Friday, US drones struck a convoy carrying Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), on the Baghdad International Airport road.

If the US is in possession of alleged evidence showing that Soleimani “was planning an imminent major attack against American interests, they should show it,” Takht-e Ravanchi said, referring to the accusation used by Washington to try to justify such deadly acts of aggression.

Earlier, the envoy wrote to the United Nations Security Council and Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, saying the assassination was “by any measure, an obvious example of state terrorism and, as a criminal act, constitutes a gross violation of the fundamental principles of international law.”

He, likewise, reminded that the Islamic Republic reserved all of its rights under international law to take necessary measures in this regard, “in particular in exercising its inherent right to self-defense.”

He reminded the world body that during his service, General Soleimani would provide “a significant role” in helping out regional nations in the face of the most dangerous of terrorist outfits, including the Takfiri Daesh group, at those nations’ own request.

The atrocity, Takht-e Ravanchi wrote, belies Washington’s claim of fighting terrorism in the region, and shows that it is, in fact, battling those who fight terrorism.

Washington’s actions seriously undermine “regional and global efforts in combating international terrorism,” he said, and urged the UN to condemn the assassination.

‘Iran Not to Give Hasty Response to US Killing of Gen. Soleimani’

Iran Warns Armenia, Azerbaijan Not to Open Way for Terrorists’ Presence

Senior spokesperson for the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said Iran reserves the right to respond to Washington’s assassination of top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in a US attack early Friday.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is sure to respond to this terrorist act,” he said.

“Of course, the Islamic Republic of Iran will avoid any emotional and impulsive move,” he said.

However, he underscored that the “harsh revenge” that Iran’s Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei talked about will definitely take place “and the Americans will regret their action.”

Following Iran’s revenge, “if they make any insane move, they will face a much stronger response,” said General Shekarchi.

He said the Americans would not escape safe from a possible war, and they are the ones who will suffer the most in case of a war.

“In fact, the Americans threw a very big stone into a well that they are unable to bring out, and they should be answerable for the inhumane and terrorist act that they committed,” he said.

US to Face Consequences of Soleimani Assassination: Iran President

President Rouhani made the remarks during a visit to the house of General Soleimani, where he expressed condolences to the family of the deceased commander who was assassinated in an American drone strike in Baghdad in the early hours of Friday.

“The Americans did not realize what a grave mistake they have made. They will suffer the consequences of such criminal measure not only today, but also throughout the years to come,” the president said in the meeting.

“This crime committed by the US will go down in history as one of their unforgettable crimes against the Iranian nation,” President Rouhani added, stressing that the United States has become a pariah among the Iranian and Iraqi nations.

Paying tribute to General Soleimani for his tireless efforts to ensure security in the region, as in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and Afghanistan, President Rouhani said the revered figure was not only a military commander and a coordinator of major operations, but was also a talented and matchless politician and strategist.

General Soleimani who devoted his life to protecting the oppressed nations and the security of regional countries was martyred by the “biggest terrorist in history”, the Iranian president said.

President Rouhani finally emphasized that Iran reserves the right to take revenge for the assassination of General Soleimani, saying the retaliation will be met when the “dirty hands of the US” are kept off the region forever.

Thousands in Iraq Attend General Soleimani’s Funeral

Mourners were out on the streets of Kadhimiya carrying pictures of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), who were killed in a US drone attack near the International Baghdad Airport early Friday.

The procession, attended by Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, received extensive coverage by many media outlets around the world.

Mourners were chanting slogans against the US and Israeli, vowing to avenge the assassination of the two martyrs.

The bodies were then taken to Baghdad for another funeral there.

Soleimani’s body is to be transferred to Iran after the funeral processions in Baghdad, Najaf and Karbala.

His body will then be transferred to Iran, where ceremonies will be held for the commander in Ahvaz and the holy city of Mashhad.

A procession will also take place in Tehran on Monday, January 6, 2020. During the procession, Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will lead in a prayer ceremony for the late general.

The body will then be taken to the city of Kerman, Soleimani’s birthplace, where the he will be laid to rest.

‘Iran to Avenge Gen. Soleimani’s Assassination at Any Time Advisable’

Speaking in a televised interview on Friday night, Mohammad Javad Zarif touched upon a message from the US relayed to Iran via the Swiss embassy.

“The Swiss, who represent US interests [in Iran], brought a very unwise message from the Americans, which received a firm response,” he noted.

“The Americans made a wrong move and are now worried about its consequences,” said Zarif.

“Mr. Pompeo has made several phone calls to say they are not seeking tension, but seeking diplomacy,”

“[But] you were seeking tension, and no one buys these US gestures. It seems that the Americans will eliminate themselves from the region with their miscalculation,” he said.

Zarif’s comments came after IRGC Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Ali Fadavi suggested on Friday that the Americans had asked Iran via Switzerland to give a response ‘proportional to the US attack’.

In his interview, Zarif stressed that Iran will not be trapped by Washington’s alarmism and chantage.

“The United States made a miscalculation and received extremely inappropriate consultations from some reactionary and puppet heads of state in the region as well as officials of the Zionist regime [of Israel] whose terrorist-breeding policies had been foiled thanks to the vigilance and bravery of General Soleimani,” he said.

“They had a deep grudge against the general,” said Zarif.

Zarif also said the US assassination of general Soleimani amounted to the violation of Iraq’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

He said the assassination ordered by US President Donald Trump was an election ploy as well both for Trump himself and for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The assassination was also aimed at relieving the pressure of impeachment on Trump,” the top diplomat noted.

He described the US assassination of General Soleimani as a cowardly act. “They could not hit the Iranian commander [in normal way]. They had but to kill the general in that manner …. It is a coward way to use state terrorism.”

The assassination of General Soleimani also hurt Iraqi people’s feelings, as he was a messenger of peace who fought terrorism and violence, he added.

FM Zarif Pledges Cooperation with New IRGC Quds Force Chief

Foreign Minister Zarif on Friday released a message after Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed Brigadier General Esmaeil Qa’ani as the new commander of the IRGC Quds Force.

In the message, the top Iranian diplomat paid tribute to late commander of the IRGC Quds Force Major General Qassem Soleimani as a “glorious general of Islam and Iran” who was assassinated in a US airstrike in Baghdad in the early hours of Friday.

Foreign Minister Zarif also wished General Qa’ani success in his new post, emphasizing that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was prepared to keep working in cooperation with the incoming commander and with the IRGC Quds Force like the past.

Artificial Intelligence-Based Algorithm for Traumatic Brain Injury

Technology initiates a way to provide an advanced solution for the growing case. A website like robots.net is one of the online sources that regularly gives accurate information on how the technology works nowadays.

What is a Traumatic Brain Injury?

TBI is a medical condition that requires immediate action and fast decision making of the doctors inside the emergency room. The treatment often needs surgery to decrease the intracranial pressure of the patients. Making a swift decision during surgical hours could be confusing to doctors as there are many variables to assess. An example of this variable is to locate and identify brain damage.

However, the injury was not fully understood in the laboratory. But through the efforts of the scientists to get things better, the characteristics of brain injuries has been identified. However, there are still hospital and clinical needs that should be properly addressed.

In statistics, more than 1.6 million people in Europe and the United States are hospitalized due to TBI. The population of the patients is high in low and middle-income areas because of the increasing traffic accidents. It was approximated that only 30% is the mortality rate of most TBI patients.

How Intensive Care Unit Works for Patients Who are Suffering From TBI?

The main aim of an intensive care unit is to control the development of secondary brain injury. Part of the intensive care is to control perfusion pressure (CPP), intracranial pressure (ICP), and to sustain or maintain cerebral homeostasis.

During intensive care, patients are unconscious. This condition makes it hard for doctors to monitor them regularly. In intensive care units (ICU), every variable of the patient’s current situation is accurately monitored. However, there is a particular variable that needs to have thousands of information daily.

It is beyond the capability of human cognition to gather all the necessary details. Thus, vast amounts of data are wasted, which affects their decision-making process. To resolve the problem, the researchers invented a machine that could gather all vital information regarding the dynamic changes in TBIs.

Artificial Intelligence Algorithms

Artificial intelligence involves machines that can process details as human cognition can. The progress of AI algorithms has greatly influenced mechanisms that are applied to various fields like robotics, agriculture, marketing, and of course, medicine. Algorithms mainly use logic and mathematics to create the desired output. Hence, AI algorithms use inputs and outputs to learn the data.

The Creation of AI Algorithms

To make all things monitored, Helsinki University Hospital’s researchers created an artificial machine for monitoring the condition of TBI. This researchers’ initiative is a big help for the doctors to cure patients suffering from serious injury. The algorithm can also predict and read the possible patient’s result during the treatment and provides data concerning the doctor’s prognosis.

During the research study in ICU, millions of data are gathered daily that overwhelmed the doctors. This data acquired by AI algorithms still needs to be interpreted by humans. The result of this research made Raj and his team stress the significance of AI in providing an enormous amount of data in clinical and hospital settings.

Artificial intelligence algorithms are very informative in identifying the lesions. It additionally has computational-inspired markers that unveil the hidden details patterns in the lesion types. Doctors nowadays are using the AI system to recognize the injuries from the patients accurately.

The researchers confirm that it is conducive to the identification of trauma lesions as it assists radiologists. In addition to the general use of algorithms, researchers already predicted that in the future, it would also detect, classify, and delineate lesions using more advanced computational markers.

Takeaway

The advancement of technology largely influences today’s civilization. It creates a convenient living, mostly replace the conventional ways of doing the job. But it doesn’t mean that we do not need manpower anymore. We still need the human brain to interpret and work for the data.

The artificial intelligence algorithm is one of the most significant necessities in the medical field. Its function is not just to identify or locate the brain damage but to provide information on how to treat traumatic brain injury as well.

If TBI before is a problematic matter for most doctors, now it is undeniable how the 21st century changes the medical field. The development provides the best solution for immediate treatment. The technological advancement mainly benefits the radiologists and the patients who are suffering from the injury. Whether you are currently residing in low or middle-income countries, you are entitled to experience the advantages of artificial intelligence algorithms for the best treatment.
