Iran’s COVID-19 Death Toll Hits 20,000

Iran's COVID-19 Death Toll Hits 20,000

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Sima-Sadat Lari confirmed 2,444 new cases of COVID-19 infection, raising the total number of infections to 350,279.

The spokeswoman said 302,528 patients have so far recovered from COVID-19, but 3,940 are still in critical conditions of the disease.

Lari added that so far 2,939,840 COVID-19 tests have been taken across the country.
She said the high-risk “red” zones include Tehran, Mazandaran, Fars, East Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Ardabil, Khorasan Razavi, North Khorasan, Semnan, Lorestan, Golestan, Kerman, Hormozgan, and Ilam provinces.

The “orange” zones also include Alborz, West Azarbaijan, Bushehr, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Hormozgan, Zanjan, Hamadan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Lorestan, Ilam, Fars, Qazvin, and Qom provinces, according to the spokeswoman.

How to Mentally Cope with Isolation

How to Mentally Cope with Isolation

Although many articles tend to focus upon the associated economic fallout, we need to keep in mind that its mental toll is also very real. This is why it is good idea to take a look at some useful ways in which you can remain emotionally healthy until things eventually return to normal. Let’s also mention that all of the suggestions mentioned below can be used within countless other scenarios when you might require a bit of a more relaxed perspective.

Physical Health Equates to Mental Health

One of the best ways to stave off the emotional blues is to regularly exercise. Now, we are not necessarily referring to the gym in this sense. It is just as easy to devote a certain portion of your home or flat towards physical activities such as practising yoga or stretching. Even if these activities are performed for only 15 or 30 minutes each day, the effects are quite impressive.

Physical activity causes your body to release feel-good chemicals which are then circulated throughout the bloodstream. Examples include serotinin, epinephrine and adrenaline. These hormones will cause you to feel more relaxed and at rest; similar to a runner’s high after completing a jog. Such substances are also known to trigger a more positive mental outlet, so be sure to incorporate some form of at-home exercise into your daily routine.

Novel Ways to Keep Yourself Entertained

Obsessing over a situation that cannot be changed is a sure-fire way to develop feelings of stress and anxiety. If your mind begins to function in “overdrive”, negative thoughts are bound to manifest themselves. So, consider novel ways to remain entertained. Some may choose to read a book or to pursue a hobby such as building models. Others might instead turn to websites such as getluckycasino.com in order to play their favourite games.

It could also be wise to pursue a new interest that you did not have time for in the past. This will provide your mind with a decidedly creative outlet while allowing it to focus upon a specific task (as opposed to remaining trapped within negative thoughts). Take a look online to further research your interests. Not only will you inevitably find what you have been looking for, but joining chat forums that cater to such interests is a great way to make a few friends along the way.

We all need to take the concept of mental health very seriously. This is why the tips and tricks mentioned above should be carefully considered. If you are able to maintain a positive outlook, the world will become a much brighter and welcoming place.

Top Iranian, Afghan Diplomats Discuss Peace Process

Top Iranian, Afghan Diplomats Discuss Peace Process

In a telephone conversation on Wednesday morning, Foreign Minister Zarif and the senior Afghan diplomat discussed the Afghan peace negotiations, the necessity for intra-Afghan negotiations without foreign interference, maintaining the achievements of the past 18 years, and Iran’s preparedness to contribute to the peace process in Afghanistan.

Zarif and Atmar also talked about the issues relating to the bilateral ties between the two countries, particularly the finalization of a comprehensive agreement.

Earlier this month in a telephone conversation with President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed Tehran’s support for the peace process in Afghanistan under the guidance of the Kabul government, hoping that the intra-Afghan negotiations would yield results with the inclusion of all Afghan groups.

US Not Allowed to Use ‘Snapback’ Mechanism against Iran

President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Washington has pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and, hence, is not legally authorized to invoke the sanctions.

“It is stipulated in that mechanism (snapback) that signatories or one of the signatories to the JCPOA can use this mechanism. However, the US cannot use this mechanism as it has clearly announced that it has pulled out of the JCPOA, and that it is the worst agreement, and has withdrawn from it,” said Rouhani.

He then criticized some people who claim the US would not have been able to withdraw from the JCPOA if the foundation of the agreement were stronger.

“Is there an agreement which the US has not pulled out of?” asked the president rhetorically.

“You are saying that the foundation of the JCPOA was not strong enough, but how about the US withdrawal from the WTO, UNESCO, NAFTA and the Paris Climate Agreement? Was their foundation weak, too? The US has pulled out of whatever useful agreements,” said Rouhani.

He then touched upon sanctions, which, he added, has put Iranian people under pressure, and said, “We are standing up to these sanctions, which will come to an end one day … and the rule of tyrants at the White House will not last forever, either.”

Now, Baran regards the vet as his father. Baran has visited the vet in his home in line with efforts to form a 3,000-strong campaign to help the baby chimp survive.

Baran has been living under the special care of a vet for three years now due to its physical problems.Iran’s Only Baby Chimp Survives Premature Birth, Poor Health 3

Naturally, baby chimpanzees should spend five years with their mothers.

However, the poor conditions in which chimpanzees are kept in cages at Eram Zoo have led Baran’s mother and other members of the chimpanzees’ group there to become aggressive and kill their babies over the past 19 years.

In the past two decades, Baran was the only baby chimp which, despite its premature delivery, managed to survive as it was separated from the chimpanzees’ group right the first day of its birth.

Nevertheless, it has been merely the vet’s special care which has helped the baby chimp stay alive until now when it is 3 years old.

The vet was taking care of the baby chimp until he himself fell ill and had to leave the zoo.
The, zoo official have allowed the chimp to leave the zoo to stay with the vet temporarily as Baran is attached to the vet.

However, the vet must return Baran to the zoo after the designated time.

1953 Iranian Coup Symbol of US Irresponsible Interference: Tehran

Iran Rejects Russia's Mediation, Says Has No Plans for Direct Talks with US

Mahmoud Vaezi said Washington has meddled in other countries’ domestic affairs time and again.

“Sixty-seven years ago on such a day, the Americans overthrew the democratically elected government of Iran by contributing to a disgraceful coup,” said Vaezi, the chief of staff of the Iranian president.

“The 1953 coup was neither the first instance of US meddling in other countries’ internal affairs, nor will it be the last one,” he noted.

UK Must Apologize for Role in 1953 Coup in Iran

“In the minds of Iranian people, this event was a symbol of the United States’ wickedness and irresponsible interference,” he noted.

“The 1953 coup d’état is one of the most important and most determining political events in contemporary history and triggered many of bitter events in Iran’s history,” he underlined.

“It was the first coup mounted with direct and overt interference of foreigners in order to topple the government of Mohammad Mosaddegh in Iran in connivance with the agents and mercenaries of the former Iranian Shah,” he said.

“Of course, 25 years after that dark day, zelous Iranians staged a revolution that blocked the path to any foreign intervention in the country’s affairs and people’s fate,” he said.
“Many years on, all Iranian people still abide by their allegiance,” Vaezi noted.

“Independence and rejecting foreigners’ domination is the national commitment of all of us. This is a reality that acquisitive entities will have to accept sooner or later,” he said.

Rouhani’s Administration to Release Annual Economic Road Map

Rouhani Condemns US for Sanctions on Medical Supplies

Speaking at a meeting of the Administration’s Economic Coordination Headquarters on Tuesday, President Rouhani said the strategic document on the “economic road map” for the eighth year of his administration has been prepared and will be made public next week.

The president noted that implementation of the road map would create synergy for the production boom in the country involving various economic sectors.

President Rouhani also highlighted the administration’s success in thwarting the hostile plots for disruption to livelihood of people and to Iran’s progress amid an economic war against the country.

“By devising this road map and setting careful goals for the next one year, the administration seeks to create solidarity and an organized movement and to consolidate the financial resources of all systems, coupled with maximum popular cooperation, in order to create calm and stability and pave the way for the country’s development and progress,” the president stated.

Iran Says Chance of Success Scant for Putin-Proposed Summit

Iran Vows to Respond If US Makes Any New Strategic Mistake

In written reply to questions from the Iranian journalists as part of a weekly press conference, the administration’s Spokesman Ali Rabiei commented on a recent proposal from Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold an online summit with the US, Britain, France, China, Germany and Iran in a bid to avoid confrontation at the United Nations.

“We are aware of Mr. Putin’s goodwill in de-escalation of tensions, but at the same believe it is unlikely that such summit would be effective in the absence of sincere intentions of the US government,” he noted.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s stance is totally clear. Irrespective of the speculations, whenever all parties receive a formal request for the proposed summit, we will consider it seriously and announce the final decision,” the spokesperson added.

He also noted that a recent voting at the UN Security Council that rejected a US-initiated resolution on the extension of the arms embargo on Iran indicated that the views of Iran and the other P4+1 members on Washington’s law-breaking and bullying polices are crystal clear.

Maybe the US president lacks the courage to take part in any other meeting, as he is confident of the US’ isolation, Rabiei stated.

Highlighting the Iranian government’s success in dealing with the cruel sanctions and protecting the lives of people, the spokesman said the US has failed to achieve its dream of collapse of the Islamic Republic.

He then hit back at US President Donald Trump for his allegation that the Iranian government masks a regime behind the false guise of a democracy, noting, “The Iranian nation, along with the international community, gave the US a harsh lesson. Now, this is Trump that has been unmasked at the United Nations and the international arena.”

On the August 4 blast in Beirut, Rabiei said Iran is worried that the tragic incident would become a pretext for foreign interference in Lebanon and the plots to control Lebanon’s internal affairs.

“We call on everybody to avoid political opportunism in dealing with the incident,” he noted.

Iran favors stronger international cooperation, including with the European states, to help the Lebanese people overcome the crisis, Rabiei added, but underlined that the foreign governments should work in coordination with the Lebanese government and nation.

Asked about a recent agreement between the United Arab Emirates and the Israeli regime on normalization of ties, the spokesman denounced Abu Dhabi’s “irresponsible decision” as a gift for the US president ahead of the elections.

“By signing this deal, the UAE deprived itself of a constructive role in the Islamic world and came under constant suspicion. Any form of the Zionist regime’s entry into the Persian Gulf would result in nothing but escalation of instability and insecurity for all regional countries,” he added.

Rabiei stressed that Iran is closely monitoring the political ties between the UAE and the Israeli regime, and is “ready to make a decisive decision if a threat originating from such poisonous (UAE-Israeli) relationship” risks the regional security.

Asked about the US administration’s push to trigger the snapback mechanism to invoke the UNSC sanctions on Iran, Rabiei said the US has withdrawn from the 2015 nuclear deal and is basically in no position to use the mechanisms of the JCPOA and the UNSC Resolution 2231 that endorses the deal.

He explained that Washington has suffered a humiliating defeat after rejection of its resolution on Iran arms embargo extension and now seeks to damage the UN Security Council and foment division in the international community.

“This time, the frustrated US regime has decided to kneel on the neck of the international community and all members of the UN Security Council,” the spokesman concluded, expressing confidence that the US will suffer another defeat in its bullying approach.

Days of US as Superpower Numbered: Iran FM

Days of US as Superpower Numbered: Iran FM

Mohammad Javad Zarif said Washington thought it would be able to push its anti-Iran agenda at the world body, it was mistaken.

“Gone are the days of the US as a superpower,” he said.

“The Americans had orchestrated a scheme and thought they would receive at least nine ‘yes’ votes and would be able to make China and Russia veto [any ‘no’ votes for] the resolution,” said Zarif in a televised interview.

“However, the US resolution could only get one ‘yes’ vote,” he added.

“That Russia and China voted ‘no’ for the resolution based on their own fundamental positions showed these two countries, two friendly countries with which we have strategic relations, only wanted to insist on their opposition to the resolution. But the point is that the resolution didn’t pass through the council in the first place,” he noted.

Zarif said the US made a miscalculation by drafting the anti-Iran resolution.

“The United States’ miscalculation was that it launched an extensive propaganda campaign one and a half years ago, then drew up a plan, then, in June 2020, drafted a resolution in 5 or 6 pages containing 35 clauses in June, 2020,” he said.

“The resolution would allow the US and other countries to inspect [Iranian vessels] in the high seas. The resolution allowed for almost every criminal act [against Iran.] The US moved forward with its plan. US officials made numerous travels at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. … They travelled to our neighbouring countries in order to show that they were not alone,” he said.

“Unfortunately, three of our neighbours wrote letters calling for an extension of the UN arms embargo on Iran, but the rest refused to do so.

Then they forced the secretary general of the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council to write a letter and announce that all Persian Gulf states agree to the extension of the arms embargo,” said the foreign minister.

He said the reality was that the letter only reflected the position of the PGCC secretary general only.

“It was the position of one person only. One of the countries officially announced that what was said in the letter was not its stance. And the other PGCC countries told us in private that they did not share the stance, and that they had not been consulted about it,” he said.

Zarif said the UNSC’s refusal to accept the anti-Iran resolution was a response to US unilateralism.
