Iran to Hold Annual Electricity, Water Exhibitions in Coming Days

Chairwoman of a headquarters in charge of holding the exhibitions said visitors can attend the two events at Tehran’s international fairground on January 12-15.

According to Sediqeh Babran, around 300 Iranian and foreign companies will be taking part in the WATEX 2021 and IEE 2021.

She said the two exhibitions will be held in full compliance with the health protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus, noting that visitors can take a virtual tour of the expos for the first time.

Highlighting Iran’s success to hold the exhibitions in spite of the economic consequences of the pandemic and the constant pressure of sanctions imposed by the enemies, director of the Energy Ministry’s public relations department said the Iranian private sector involved in the water and electricity industries has doubled efforts to supply the industrial demands by removing the obstacles.

Babran said this year’s exhibitions are held at a higher scientific level since a remarkable number of experts, specialized companies and technology owners would attend the events in two separate sections.

Nearly 300 exhibitors will be offering their services and products in 10 halls at the International Water and Waste Water Exhibition and the International Electricity Exhibition, she noted.

She finally expressed hope that the exhibitions would allow for the introduction of modern technologies, exchange of views and experiences, progress of the private sector, and high-quality services for people for achievement of the major development goals.

Iran Condemns Massacre of Pakistani Miners, Urges Joint Fight against Terror

In a statement on Saturday, Khatibzadeh said the criminal move once again underlines the necessity for cooperation of all regional countries in the fight against Takfiri and terrorist groups.

“It is imperative that the countries of the Muslim world join hands and focus all their efforts on eradicating the financial and ideological underpinnings of these Takfiri and extremist groups, and stop the continued support of certain countries for these groups with the objective of eliminating violence against innocent human beings from different faiths and religions,” he noted.

At least 11 coal miners were killed in the Mach area of Balochistan last Sunday after armed militants kidnapped them and took them to a nearby area before opening fire at close range.

Police authorities said the miners were on the way to work when armed militants kidnapped them and took them to the nearby mountains. Moazzam Ali Jatoi, an official with the Levies Force, said six of the miners were dead on the spot, and five who were critically wounded died on the way to a hospital.

Jatoi said an initial investigation revealed the attackers identified the miners as being from the Shiite Hazara community and the gunmen took them away for execution, leaving others unharmed.

Reuters reported that the ISIS terrorist group later claimed responsibility for the attack, through its Amaq news agency via its Telegram channel.

Tehran Declared as ‘Yellow’ Zone; Only 6 Cities ‘Red’: Coronavirus Headquarters

The Headquarters said on Saturday that the capital, Tehran, is now in a yellow state as far as the number of COVID-19 infections and deaths is concerned.

“Based on this plan, cars with non-local number plates are not allowed to enter ‘red’ and ‘orange’ cities,” said Hossein Qassemi, the head of the Social-Disciplinary Committee of the headquarters.

“Moreover, cars with local plates in red and orange cities are banned from entering other cities,” he added.

“These regulations will remain in place as long as the situation of red and orange cities has not changed,” he added.

“Tehran is in a ‘yellow’ state; so, if residents of Tehran would like to travel to the 212 ‘yellow’ towns and cities, they do not need to get a travel permit,” he noted.
“But cars with non-local number plates are definitely not authorized to travel to the 29 orange and red cities,” he said.

“Although we didn’t have any red cities in the past few weeks, six cities in Mazandaran province are unfortunately in a red state now. Also, 23 cities in the country are in an orange state and 212 cities are yellow,” the official noted.

“Except for those categorized as ‘Group One,’ businesses in the 6 red cities are definitely not allowed to work. Government bodies should also hold their meetings while observing coronavirus restrictions,” he added.

‘Iran to Expel IAEA Inspectors on Feb. 21 If US Sanctions Not Lifted’

Iran Sees ‘Positive Outlook’ for Ties with IAEA after Latest Report

Ahmad Amirabadi Farahani, a member of the Parliament’s Presiding Board, said the expulsion is in line with the recent parliamentary act aimed at countering the US sanctions.

“Based on the Parliament’s legislation, if the United States fails to lift financial, banking and oil sanction by February 21, 2021, we will definitely expel IAEA inspectors from the country and we are sure to stop the voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol,” said Amirabadi Farahani.

“This is the parliament’s law and the government is obliged to enforce it,” he added.
“The Supreme Leader blocked all paths for the US government’s abuse. The JCPOA became a completely unilateral agreement, and the agreement was torn up as Trump took office,” he said.

He also slammed Europeans for not daring to stand up to the US.

Naval Parade in Persian Gulf Marks Anniv. of IRGC Seizure of US Navy Boats

The speedboats and other military vessels paraded around the Persian Gulf island of Farsi, where the US Navy boats were seized in 2016.

On January 12, 2016, two United States Navy riverine command boats were seized by the IRGC Navy after they entered Iranian territorial waters.

Initially, the US military claimed the sailors inadvertently entered Iranian waters owing to mechanical failure, but it was later reported that they entered Iranian waters because of navigational errors.

The US secretary of state, John Kerry, called the Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif within five minutes. His call was followed by multiple other phone calls between the two ministers. The sailors had a brief verbal exchange with the Iranian military and were released, unharmed, 15 hours later.

The release was hailed by the Obama administration as an unintended benefit of the new diplomatic relationship. Iran released pictures of captured US sailors. Some US Republican 2016 presidential candidates such as Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Donald Trump criticized the US response to the detention, which they deemed too weak.

Those Condemning Trump Today Succumbed to His Lawlessness for 4 Years: Iran

“Those who succumbed to Trump’s lawless bullying for four years — to protect their skin at OUR people’s expense — now condemn his assault on the rule of law,” Zarif tweeted on Friday.

However, he added, they “still try to use his economic terrorism against Iran as ‘leverage’.”

“If you can’t grow a spine, gain foresight—for your own sake,” he added.

Zarif did not refer to any country or individual by name, but European countries, mainly France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, which were and continue to be a party to the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, had over the course of Trump’s four-year term effectively succumbed to his anti-Iran policies by refusing to uphold their own end of the bargain, citing US pressure.

Less importantly, some US foreign policy columnists, including Thomas L. Friedman and Bret Stephens, have in the past attempted to promote the idea that Biden could use the Trump sanctions as leverage against Iran instead of returning to the Iran deal — as the incoming president has pledged — and terminating those sanctions, which were imposed in violation of the 2015 deal with Iran after Trump unilaterally withdrew his country from the agreement.

Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran deal was not the only time the US president reneged on America’s international commitments. His single term was marked by unilateral pullouts from major international and bilateral accords and organizations.

That lawless attitude came under the spotlight when Trump on Wednesday incited a mob of his supporters to storm the US Capitol building as lawmakers were in the process of confirming the electoral victory of Biden. Trump has refused to concede his defeat even as Biden has garnered a wide margin of Electoral College and popular votes against him in the November 2020 election. The defeated US president has been making baseless accusations that the election was rigged.

During the Wednesday mayhem, armed Trump supporters breached the Capitol as lawmakers took shelter in their offices. While security staff was initially overwhelmed, police were later deployed and ended the chaos. At least five people were killed during the mob assault.

60‌ Million Iranians to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine in 4 Phases: Rouhani

Iran Policies to Remain Unchanged No Matter Who Becomes US President: Rouhani

President Hassan Rouhani noted on Saturday that one of the serious demands by people is to have immediate access to the COVID-19 vaccine, but they must rest assured that the government has adopted all necessary measures to produce the vaccine in the country and purchase safe vaccines from abroad.

“Due to problems caused by cruel and illegal sanctions, we had been busy dealing with difficulties with regards to the transfer of money to procure foreign vaccines,” he added.

President Rouhani said foreign companies wanted to test their vaccines on the Iranian people, but the Health Ministry declined the offer, as the government will not turn Iranian people into subjects for the trial of foreign vaccines.

President Rouhani also said he was happy to see the infection and death rate caused by the coronavirus disease has dropped in the country.

“Despite the spread of the coronavirus in some parts of the world, the trend of the disease in Iran has been on the decline because people observed health protocols and regulations,” he said.

However, he added, health protocols still need to be observed and gatherings should be avoided to help further contain the deadly virus.

President Rouhani underlined “blue” areas have also been added to the previous categories of “yellow, orange and red” areas in terms of coronavirus.

He said all businesses are open and doing their work in blue areas, but that does not mean the coronavirus has been eradicated in these areas.

Biden Administration Will Have to Submit to Iran’s Demands: VP

Es’haq Jahangiri said they will also have to regret their actions.

“New US leaders will have to show remorse for the past. They will have to return to international agreements, and then we will proudly see sanctions lifted,” he added.

The vice president further said US President Donald Trump even did not care about the people of his own country, let alone Iranians.

“Trump is leaving after a mess they made in Washington (the attack on US Congress),” Jahangiri noted.

Jahangiri said the incident happened inside the United States under Trump’s watch, adding Trump also left no stone unturned to harm the Iranian nation and deal a blow to the Islamic Revolution.

Iranian Miniature: A Unique, Fabulous School of Art

The Iranian miniature has different themes, including legendary, mythical, religious and literary.

Different methods are used in this art, namely the painting of flowers and birds and illumination.
Moreover, Iranian miniaturists have never cut off their relationship with domestic poetry, legends, myths and ways of thought as well as national heroes and Iranian traditions and lifestyles.

Miniature Art Registered on UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage

These concepts have always been an integral part of Iranian miniaturists’ works and give the Iranian miniature a unique character which distinguishes it from the arts of other countries although the Iranian miniature does have much common ground with other Asian schools of art.

Paintings on the walls of the ancient monument Chelsotoon in the central city of Isfahan are among the best examples of decorative designs associated with Iranian architecture.

These wall paintings depict historical events in the Safavid era and onwards. The paintings are drawn with conventional literary concepts and images of plants in the style of the Isfahani school of art.
