Iran Blasts Arab League, GCC for ‘Interventionist’ Remarks

In a statement on Friday, Saeed Khatibzadeh highlighted the destructive role of a handful of countries, and said, “These imprudent and irresponsible comments are part of their anti-Iran remarks.”

“These statements are not aimed at calling for cooperation; rather, they seek to disrupt the trend of technical talks in Vienna,” he said.

“The secretaries general of these institutions should know that Iran is a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and all of Iran’s nuclear activities are monitored by the safeguards programs of this agency,” said the spokesman.

“Naturally, the development of this program (Iran’s nuclear program) will continue in line with the Islamic Republic of Iran’s legitimate rights and national interests aimed at meeting peaceful needs,” he added.

“These entities had better avoid turning a blind eye to the existing realities and, instead, focus their concerns on parties violating the 2015 nuclear deal and UN Security Council Resolution 2231,” he said.

Khatibzadeh urged secretaries general of these institutions to turn their attention to the military and illegal nuclear activities of the Israeli regime and pay due regard to the dangers posed by the hundreds of nuclear warheads of this regime and Israel’s refusal to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as the biggest threat to regional peace, stability and security rather than getting on board with Israel when it comes to constantly levelling accusations against Iran.

Iran Strongly Rejects Ukraine’s Claim PS752 Flight Shot Down Intentionally

Iran Ready for Talks to Pay Damages for Ukraine Plane Crash

“It is regrettable that despite all explanations as well as expert and specialized reports, some Ukrainian officials still keep making politically-motivated and ambiguous comments and express their imaginary and dictated hypotheses in interviews with media,” said Saeed Khatibzadeh on Friday.

“It seems that neither the settlement of [controversies and issues surrounding] this bitter accident within the framework of objective and expert-approved realities nor easing the sufferings of victims’ families is a priority to Ukrainian authorities,” said the spokesman.

“Rather, they (Ukrainian officials) try to use this accident as a pretext to link their domestic problems or [problems pertaining to their] foreign relations with other countries to this tragic accident and make political capital out of it,” he added.

“It goes without saying that efforts to get such political mileage are not acceptable,” Khatibzadeh said.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran once again expresses its readiness to hold talks with all sides within the framework of the law and international norms, and urges all sides not to make comments which are not in conformity with logic and law,” he added.

Iran Expresses Grave Concern over Recent Incidents in Iraq

In a statement on Friday, Khatibzadeh said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the security, stability and territorial integrity of Iraq, and strongly rejects any move that threatens these inviolable principles.”

“Iraq is moving towards domestic development and playing an active and constructive role in the region but certain individuals seek to prevent the realisation of such goals in Iraq by carrying out acts of terrorism, fuelling insecurity, and creating crisis,” he added.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tehran believes Baghdad can overcome all these difficulties considering the capacities it has.

“We regard Iraq’s security and stability as an inseparable part of the security and stability of Iran and the region, and will spare no effort to support the friendly and brotherly country of Iraq,” he noted.

At least five civilians lost their lives and nearly two dozen others sustained injuries in a powerful blast near a marketplace in the al-Habibiyah area of Sadr City in the eastern flank of the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad on Thursday.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the deadly attack, but such assaults bear the hallmark of those carried out by remnants of the ISIS Takfiri terrorist group.

Iraqi President Barham Salih condemned the car bomb explosion in Baghdad in a post published on his official Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Hassan Salem, an Iraqi lawmaker affiliated to the anti-terror Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq group, which is part of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), said evidence indicates the involvement of Israel’s Mossad spy agency in Baghdad’s car bomb attack as well as the attack on the 30th Brigade of the PMU fighters in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh.

Iran, China, Russia Hold Trilateral Meeting in Vienna

The Friday meeting was held as part of ongoing consultations between Iran and the P4+1 negotiators in the Austrian capital.

Technical talks and discussions between the JCPOA parties on the removal of sanctions and nuclear issues are still underway at different levels.

In a statement on Friday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry denied certain reports that the negotiating teams have decided to stop the talks and return to their capitals, and stressed that the talks are still going on.

Iran Rejects New US Sanctions against Russia

In a statement on Friday, Khatibzadeh said the US administration’s addiction to imposition of sanctions against other countries on false pretexts has apparently turned into an institutionalised approach in this country, as even the change of administrations has not had any effect on changing this attitude.

On Thursday, the United States announced economic sanctions against Russia and the expulsion of 10 Russian diplomats in retaliation for what it alleged as election interference, a massive cyber-attack, and other hostile activity.

Speaking in televised remarks on Thursday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, “A response to sanctions is inevitable. The United States is not ready to come to terms with the objective reality that there is a multipolar world that excludes American hegemony.”

Under the new sanctions, the US Treasury Department will block American financial institutions from purchasing bonds from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the National Wealth Fund of the Russian Federation, or the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation after June 14 and from lending funds to those institutions.

The measures are part of an executive order signed by US President Joe Biden that also leaves open the possibility for the White House to expand the sanctions on Russian sovereign debt.

On Friday afternoon, the heads of the thee European delegations (Germany, Britain, and France) had a joint meeting with Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for political affairs who is also the head of Iran’s delegation to Vienna talks.

The meeting was held as part of consultations between Tehran and the P4+1 in the Austrian capital.

Another meeting was also held today between Araqchi and Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs of European External Action Service Enrique Mora.

The heads of the Chinese and Russian delegations also visited Araqchi’s residence to hold multilateral talks with him.

Following the Thursday meeting of the JCPOA Joint Commission, the participants agreed to continue their technical talks in expert-level meetings in the two domains of “removal of sanctions” and “nuclear issues”.

The results of these expert-level meetings will be declared to the Joint Commission.

In the past two days, Araqchi has held separate meetings with the heads of the Chinese and Russian delegations as well as Mora.

Palace of Ardeshir: A Unique 3rd-Century Structure in Southern Iran

Located in the town of Firoozabad, the mansion was constructed in third century CE by Ardeshir Babakan, the founder of the Sassanid dynasty.

The palace is one of the early structures built using the architecture of the Sassanid era.
Late renowned Iranian archaeologist Mirnia says the palace is one of the most important buildings constructed during the third century CE.

He believes the building is more of a fire temple than a pala

The architecture of many other Iranian monuments was modelled after that of the Ardeshir Babakan Palace otherwise known as the Firoozabad Fire Temple.

The palace contains labyrinthine hallways.

Although the structure is 1,800 years old, the decorative plasterwork on the inside of its walls is still intact.

Some experts believe the palace was the first Sassanid monument which boasts porches, arches and domes.

The Ardeshir Babakan Palace is registered on Iran’s List of National Heritage Sites.
In December 2020 when the area was struck by flooding, the palace risked being inundated by floodwater and its dikes were unfortunately destroyed.

Chehel Sotoun: A Mesmerizing Monument in Central Iran

The painting on the left depicts a feast where King Abbas I is hosting Vali Muhammad Khan, a leader of the Ashtarkhanid dynasty in the Khanate of Bukhara, who took refuge with King Abbas I in 1611 to regain his lost rule.

The structure, a pavilion in the middle of a park at the far end of a long pool, was built on a 67,000-square-metre expanse of land upon the order of King Abbas I, the fifth Safavid king of Iran.

The structure was completed during the rule of King Abbas II when the central building of the monument was overhauled.

The key changes included the Mirror Hall, the 20-Column Hall, a giant pool in front of the building and all the decorative paintings there.

Chehel Sotoun literally means “Forty Columns” in Persian.

The reason why the structure was named so was that the 20 columns of the 20-Column Hall were reflected in the pool.

The Central Hall of the structure was dedicated to foreign guests and dignitaries.

It is decorated with paintings which depict the historical events of different eras.

This glorious hall with a painting-decorated dome on top is one of the artistic masterpieces of the time.

Chehel Sotoun was registered on Iran’s List of National Heritage sites by the Cultural Heritage Organization in 1931, and decades later in 2011 was put on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Iran Produces First Batch of 60-Percent Enriched Uranium

Speaking to Tasnim on Friday, Salehi confirmed what Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf had announced in a tweet earlier in the day.
“Uranium enrichment at 60% purity level is underway at Natanz facility,” Salehi said.

The Iranian nuclear chief said the details will be announced in a few hours.

Qalibaf had earlier said, “I am proud to announce that at 00:40 last night … young and pious Iranian scientists were able to obtain a 60% enriched uranium product.”

“We congratulate the brave people of the Islamic Iran on this success; the will of the Iranian people is miraculous and will thwart any conspiracy.”

The announcement came days after Iran informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of a plan to start 60-percent uranium enrichment, following an act of sabotage against the Natanz nuclear facility, which Iran called “nuclear terrorism”.
