Yemen Supreme Political Council: No progress in implementing ceasefire

Yemen War

Al-Mashat said it’s the eight Eid al-Fitr which sees the Yemeni people suffering under the Saudi-led war and siege.

He added that the aggressors have committed numerous criminal acts against the Yemeni people, which have led to increased transportation costs, rising food and medicine prices, and numerous other adverse consequences.

The Chairman of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council also stressed that the aggressors will prevent any action that would lead to the success of the ceasefire announced by the United Nations and facilitate the entry of fuel-carrying ships to the ports of Al-Hudaydah and the resumption of flights from Sana’a Airport.

“Half of the ceasefire is over, but no progress has been made in its most important clauses and the reduction of the great suffering of the Yemeni people. Despite all the concessions we have made to prove our desire for peace, this goodwill has been met with rebellion, evasion, irresponsibility, and the non-accountability of the aggressor countries and those behind them,” he explained.

He also said that the aggressor countries and their mercenaries have seized Yemen’s oil and gas resources and looted more than 129 million barrels of Yemeni oil adding that the estimated value of the looted oil is more than 7 billion dollars, and this is in addition to the looting of other resources that are the right of the Yemeni people.

He emphasized Yemen’s commitment to the ceasefire and the desire for peace adding that the armed forces are fully vigilant and prepared for new developments.

The UN-brokered two-month truce came into effect on the first day of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Saudi Arabia launched its war on Yemen in March 2015 in a bid to reinstate former Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, a close Saudi ally, and push Ansarullah forces out of key areas of Yemen but it has failed to meet the goals of its onslaught.

It has created a humanitarian catastrophe leaving hundreds of thousands of people dead and injured.

Iranian official: Lake Urmia further shrinks

Lake Urmia

He said is the area of the lake is also nearly 2,495 square kilometers, which is down more than 2,198 thousand square kilometers compared to the same time last year.

Lake Urmia is Iran’s largest wetland and was once one of the biggest saltwater lakes in the world.

The lake has been shrinking for a long time, with an annual evaporation rate of 0.6 to 1 m.

Although measures are now being taken to reverse the trend, the lake has shrunk by 60% and could disappear entirely. Only 5% of the lake’s water remains.

The shrinkage of Lake Urmia has been blamed both on unsustainable water use by farmers in the region and also climate change.

The latter could be called the main factor in the drying up of the lake because the rate of rainfall has reduced in recent decades and the Urmia basin has experienced several multi-year droughts.

Raisi calls for end to Israel”s attacks against Palestinians

Iran and Turkey Presidents Raisi and Erdogan

Raisi made those comments during a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He described the recent events in Palestine as unacceptable.

Raisi also congratulated Erdogan and the people of the neighboring and friendly country of Turkey on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and wished the Muslim people of the world all the best.

He reiterated that the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to significantly promote relations in all spheres with regional countries, especially Turkey.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also congratulated Raisi and the people of Iran on Eid al-Fitr, expressing hope that the occasion will be a source of health, prosperity and happiness for the whole Muslim world.

Erdogan noted that he is willing to visit Tehran He also said Turkey is interested in discussing regional and international developments and in coordinating efforts with Iran to advance bilateral and international relations, especially increasing trade with the Islamic Republic.

Over 200k worshipers perform Eid prayers at al-Aqsa Mosque

Al-Aqsa Mosque

Millions of people in more than a dozen Muslim countries are celebrating Eid al-Fitr at the end of the holy month of Ramadan after the new moon of the lunar calendar month of Shawwal was sighted on Sunday night.

Muslim worshipers who had fasted for a month took part in Eid prayers in Turkey, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, most Persian Gulf Arab kingdoms, and countries in North Africa on the morning of the festive occasion.

Over the past two years, the outbreak of the coronavirus had forced many worshipers to perform the Eid prayers at home or observe strict health protocols in mosques.

Hundreds of Muslims gathered in Saudi Arabia’s holy cities of Mecca and Medina to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayers in the early hours of Monday morning.

In Mecca’s Grand Mosque, Imam Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid led the prayers. The Eid prayers at the Prophet’s Holy Mosque in Medina were attended by Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Medina Region, and Prince Saud bin Khalid al-Faisal, Deputy Governor of Medina Region.

Moreover, Muslims welcomed Eid al-Fitr in Indonesia with a return to festivities to mark the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, after two years of muted celebrations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aside from lifting the ban on mass gatherings, the Indonesian government has eased the pandemic restrictions for this year’s festivities to allow people to hold congregational prayers and visit family, friends, and relatives in the world’s largest Muslim majority country, while still adhering to the health protocols.

In the capital Jakarta, hundreds of thousands of Muslims crowded Istiqlal Grand Mosque, the largest mosque in the country, to attend Eid prayers.

Elsewhere in the Israeli-occupied Old City of al-Quds, more than 200,000 worshipers performed the Eid al-Fitr prayers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Monday morning.

After the prayers ended, the worshipers listened to a sermon by al-Aqsa Mosque preacher Sheikh Muhammad Salim, who underscored the need for constant presence at al-Aqsa Mosque in order to thwart the suspicious and dangerous schemes that the occupying Israeli regime is seeking to impose on the holy site.

Sheikh Salim stressed that al-Aqsa Mosque is a red line, and that Palestinians, as well as Muslims worldwide, will not allow its desecration.

Large crowds of worshipers exchanged congratulations, and others distributed sweets and gave toys to children in the courtyard of the Dome of the Rock.

Additionally, Syria’s official news agency SANA published pictures of President Bashar al-Assad attending ceremonies for the annual Islamic Eid al Fitr holiday to mark the end of Ramadan.

The service took place at al-Hassan Mosque in Midan neighborhood of the capital Damascus.

Those attending the service were government officials, members of the People’s Assembly, clergymen, and ordinary people.

They observed the Eid al Fitr ritual, repeating after Sheikh Mohammad Bashar Turkmani, who led the crowd of several hundred in prayer.

Sheikh Turkmani stressed that Eid al-Fitr conveys the noble message of tolerance and unity, adding that the auspicious event is being marked amid Israeli forces’ attacks across the occupied Palestinian territories and frequent desecrations of Muslim and Christian sites, particularly the al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Meanwhile, several countries, including Afghanistan and Mali, marked Eid al-Fitr on Sunday.

Muslims in other Islamic countries like Iran and Iraq are expected to mark the occasion with nationwide mass prayers on Tuesday.

Spanish officials’ phones targeted with Israeli spyware

NSO Group

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s mobile phone was breached twice in May 2021, and Defence Minister Margarita Robles’ device was targeted once the following month, Presidency Minister Félix Bolaños told reporters at a morning press conference.

“We have no doubt that this is an illicit, unauthorised intervention,” Bolaños said, adding, “It comes from outside state organisations and it didn’t have judicial authorisation”.

The Pegasus spyware behind the attack is produced by Israeli security firm NSO, which says it only sells the software to government agencies.

Bolaños noted that technical reports by Spain’s National Cryptologic Centre had evaluated the volume of data extracted from the two devices.

In all, 2.6 gigabytes of information was obtained from the Spanish prime minister’s phone during the first attack and 130 megabytes during the second, while 9 gigabytes were stolen from the defence minister. “There is no evidence of any intrusion after these dates,” Bolaños continued.

Last year, French President Emmanuel Macron was among 14 current or former heads of state on a list of potential Pegasus targets leaked to human rights organisation Amnesty International.

Unlike most spyware, Pegasus doesn’t require its victims to unwittingly download it, for example by opening an infected attachment or clicking a link. It can infect iOS, Android or BlackBerry phones without alerting their owners. Once installed, it allows NSO’s clients to take control of a device, to activate the camera and the microphone, see geolocation data and read the content of messages – even those sent via encrypted platforms like Telegram and WhatsApp.

Pegasus’ maker NSO claims the software is not designed for mass surveillance, but for counterterrorism purposes.

However, it has been accused of helping facilitate authoritarianism. The Pegasus software has been used by countries including Saudi Arabia.

Israel to summon Russian envoy over Lavrov’s remarks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey lavrov

“It is an unforgivable, scandalous statement, a terrible historical mistake, and we expect an apology,” Lapid told the YNet news website. There was no immediate comment from the Russian embassy.

During an interview with Italy’s Rete 4 channel on Sunday, Lavrov was asked how Russia could say it needed to “denazify” Ukraine, when the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, was Jewish.

“When they say ‘What sort of nazification is this if we are Jews’, well I think that Hitler also had Jewish origins, so it means nothing,” Lavrov stated, speaking through an Italian interpreter.

“For a long time now we’ve been hearing the wise Jewish people say that the biggest anti-Semites are the Jews themselves,” he added.

Israel has expressed repeated support for Ukraine. But wary of straining relations with Russia, a powerbroker in neighbouring Syria, it initially avoided direct criticism of Moscow and has not enforced formal sanctions on Russian oligarchs.

Last month, Lapid accused Russia of committing war crimes in Ukraine, and Israel agreed to supply helmets and vests to Ukrainian rescue services, signalling a shift in its position on providing such equipment.

Lapid said that to claim Hitler was of Jewish descent was like saying Jews had killed themselves, adding that accusing Jews of being anti-Semites was “the lowest level of racism.”

He also dismissed Lavrov’s claim that pro-Nazi elements held sway over the Ukrainian government and military.

“The Ukrainians aren’t Nazis. Only the Nazis were Nazis and only they dealt with the systematic destruction of the Jewish people,” added Lapid, whose grandfather died in the Holocaust.

The Ukrainian president has also run into flak in Israel by looking to draw analogies between the conflict in his country and World War Two.

In an address to the Israeli parliament in March, Zelensky compared the Russian offensive in Ukraine to Nazi Germany’s extermination of European Jewry during World War Two.

Iran celebrates Teachers’ Day

Teachers’ Day in Iran

The day marks the assassination anniversary of Ayatollah Morteza Motahari by the Furqan terrorist group in 1980. He was a scholar, philosopher, lecturer and one of the architects of the Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Morteza Motahari is also known for his teachings about Islam and Islamic philosophy.

A group of teachers is expected to meet with the Leaders of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Ebrahim Raisi in the coming days on the occasion of teachers’ day.

The occasion this year comes amid growing discontent and protests by teachers nationwide demanding fair pay.

They have been calling on the government to implement legislation that would bring their salaries and pensions on par with other civil servants. Teachers in Iran are deeply respected for their hard work and tireless efforts despite all the hardship that they have faced in their job.

Devoted teacher turns home into class

An Iranian girls’ school teacher in a village near the southwestern city of Kazeroon has begun teaching one of her students at home after the pupil was unable to attend classes because of family and financial problems.

Bahar, who is a third grade primary school student, had failed to show up for classes for one month because her family could not afford to pay for her education and because the school was far away from the family’s new home.

The teacher, Mrs. Amir-Azodi, managed to contact the family and asked them to send Bahar to stay at her home for lessons.

Iran Covid:18 people killed, no red zone

The Health Ministry also logged 697 new cases of the disease nationwide.

Meanwhile, the head of media center of Mashhad University’s Covid Management Taskforce says only 37.64 percent of people over the age of 18 have received their third shot of Coronavirus vaccine and their percentage is still low.

Mohammad Pahlevan added that the percentages for the first dose and the second dose are respectively 98.4 and 86.6.

He however noted that in areas under the coverage of Mashahd University of Medical Sciences, only one person died of Covid in the past 24 hours.

According to the official, given the downward trned in Covid deaths and infections, the Eid al-Fitr mass prayer will be held on Tuesday.

Pahlevan however urged participants to wear masks.

There are currently no red cities or towns in Iran in terms of danger from Covid. Red denotes the highest level of danger from the virus.

Javad Salehi said passenger planes wouldn’t have been able to land in Najaf.

He added that it was initially unclear when the weather condition would become favorable for planes.

Planes of Meraj, Ata, Iran Air and Qeshm Air airlines failed to send their flights to Najaf last evening.

Security source: BBC report on Mossad interrogation inside Iran ridiculous

BBC

Nour News said such clumsy lies and propaganda are the work of the BBC and they come at a time when the Israeli regime was under tremendous pressure last week due to its crimes against Palestinians and ahead of the International Quds Day rallies.

Nour News added that the latest developments in occupied Palestine forced Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennet to resort to inventing such a story to lessen the pressure.

According to the website, the speeches of the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and the Quds Force of the IRGC in which they spoke of the flight of the resistance axis’s drones over occupied Palestine and their success in beating the regime’s Iron Dome anti-missile system were of the highest impact.

The Quds Force commander said Israel was covering up its debacle after two unknown drones flew deep into the airspace of occupied Palestine, saying the regime instead claimed it was holding a maneuver.

Nour News said the security gaps in the occupied territories which exposes the weaknesses of the Zionist regime’s intelligence apparatus on a daily basis and also the high capabilities of the axis of resistance cannot be covered by such a threadbare psychological warfare.
It also condemned BBC Persian as a network with zero credibility.

The channel claimed that the person said during the interrogation by Mossad that he had received orders from the Quds Force to “assassinate” an Israeli in Turkey, an American in Germany and a journalist in France.
