Crime Scene

Brigadier General Hassan Ahangar did not specify where the act of sabotage took place.

But Iranian media say he was speaking about an explosion that happened on May 25 in a ministry of defense facility in Parchin east of Tehran.

Ahangar said the martyr was not the primary targeted but was killed in an attack that was in fact aimed at the production line in the ministry of defense facility in Parchin.

The employee has been identified by Iranian media as Ehsan Ghadbeigi. A colleague of his was also wounded in the incident.

Ghadbeigi held a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tehran’s prestigious Sharif University of Technology.

Iranian experts and scientific facilities have been repeatedly targeted by terrorist attacks in recent years.

The acts of terror have been blamed on the Zionist regime.

Iranian MP’s ‘transnational marriage solution’ draws ire

Iranian Women

Amir Hossein Bankipour, Isfahan’s representative in the Iranian parliament has recently suggested that that single girls over thirty should get married to foreign Muslims and Shias interested in Iran due to the lack of single boys in the country.

He was reported as saying on Sunday that according to the latest statistics the number of unmarried women over thirty in Iran far exceeds the number of unmarried men, and he offered transnational marriage as a solution.

The issue touched a raw nerve with many Iranians who said the comments show the Iranian women in a bad light as people who are desperate to get married.

Alireza Monadi Sefidan, a parliamentarian from Tabriz, said, “Bankipour must apologize to the great nation of Iran,” adding many MPs directly expressed their dissatisfaction with the comments in Monday’s session at the parliament.

Following the barrage of criticism, Bankipour said his words were taken out of context, stopping short of extending an apology to the public.

His comments have drawn harsh criticism among ordinary people too who accuse the MP of lacking national and religious zeal.

Tehran: US following suite on Trump policies on Iran

Saeed Khatibzadeh Iran FM Spokesperson

Saeed Khatibzadeh said in his weekly presser on Monday that those policies became clear more than ever after the US’s recent sanctions against Iran.

“On the one side, US officials say they want to make up for the Trump administration’s mistakes and on the other hand we witness law-breaking behaviors and continuation of the same failed policies of the Trump administration,” he said.

“This behavior of the US has brought about the mistrust of the international community.”

Khatibzadeh then turned to the negotiations in Vienna for revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, stressing that Iran continues to walk down the path of diplomacy.

“Despite the US’s failure to meet its obligations and continuation on Trump’s path, this train is not yet derailed. We are ready for a good, lasting and effective agreement and consider the grounds ready to reach such as an agreement,” he said.

Khatibzadeh added that Iran’s stance on nuclear weapons is clear.

He said Iran is completely opposed to nuclear weapons both based on the fatwa by the Islamic revolution leader, which is registered with the United Nations as a document, and in the initiatives Iran has tabled as well as a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been among the architects of the Middle East Free from Nuclear Weapons initiative, while Israel and the US have impeded the initiative from advancing.

“It is those who wield nuclear weapons are exactly those who continually expand their arms,” he said.

He also expressed hope that Iran’s oil shipment, which is detained in Greece, is released soon.

“The way forward would be protection of bilateral ties and immunity from a third party element (the US),” he said.

The spokesman also talked about the visit by the Kazakh president to Iran stressing that both sides want to raise mutual trade between the two countries from the current half a billion dollars to 3 billion dollars.

Khatibzadeh added that the first instance of rail freight transportation from Kazakhstan through Iran has been completed via Turkmenistan and Turkey.

He said this is the first freight transported through the north-south corridor via sea and railways.

Khatibzadel also announced that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Iran at the end of the current week.

Iran hangs murderer of clerics

Mashhad Stabbing attack

“The death sentence against Abdolatif Moradi was carried out by hanging this morning, in the presence of a group of citizens and officials in Vakilabad prison in Mashhad,” said provincial judiciary chief Gholamali Sadeghi.

The assailant was accused of using a weapon to terrorize people in the shrine and even outside it, Sadeghi added.

Iranian officials say Moradi, a 21-year-old Afghan who had illegally entered Iran from Pakistan last year was an extremist follower of Takfiri ideology.

He stabbed the clerics at Imam Reza’s shrine in Mashhad to death. He was immediately detained.

The Iranian judiciary issued a death sentence against him on June 7, saying his lawyer had appealed to the Supreme Court.

The three clerics, who were stabbed on April 5 during the holy fasting month of Ramadan, had reportedly been involved in voluntary social and cultural activities in Mashhad.

Iran says illegal immigrants not registered by June 22 will be expelled

Afghan Refugees

The ministry’s deputy for law enforcement affairs says all illegal immigrants, who are deported, will face prosecution if they re-enter Iran.

“The census plan for Afghan nationals began in April and was welcomed by the foreign nationals and so far 2,270,000 of illegal immigrants have come forward and registered in the census,” Majid Mirahmadi said.

He said the June 22 deadline will not be extended as it has been once extended before.

“The residence of anyone who will not have visited our offices after June 22 will be considered illegal and they will be quickly deported from the country and will face legal action if they repeat illegal entry into Iran,” he warned.

Mirahmadi added that those who have registered with the Interior Ministry’s offices are given temporary residence that expires in October.

After that, he said, those whose residence is not extended should also leave the country.

The official explained that the extension of the illegal immigrants’ residence will be processed based on their past criminal record, membership in extremist and Takfiri groups and whether they are among entrepreneurs, investors, scientific, artistic and cultural elite, among other criteria.

Iran rejects Radio Farda ‘falsification’ on deal with Ukraine’s Donetsk

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran

The source told The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the report is an instance of yellow journalism and sheer falsification.

Radio Farda had claimed that Iran and Donestk, the self-proclaimed independent state in eastern Ukraine, has signed an agreement with the aim of strengthening their mutual trade and economic ties.

Under the agreement, the report claimed, Iran agreed to supply Donetsk with construction material and agricultural products, such as fruit and vegetables.

Russia says IAEA anti-Iran resolution “strategic miscalculation”

IAEA

The recent #IAEA BoG resolution sponsored by #E3 and the #US provides reasons to believe that they try to derail the #ViennaTalks on #JCPOA,” Mikhail Ulyanov said in a tweet.

The Vienna talks were paused a few months ago following the developments in international political scene in the wake of Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine and amid disagreements over a number of outstanding issues between Iran and the United States.

“But in my view it was a non-intentional strategic miscalculation and those countries still aim at successful finalization on the talks,” Ulyanov added.

The resolution, sponsored by Britain, France and Germany and backed by the United States, calls on Iran to immediately return to its nuclear commitments and respond to the proposal by the IAEA’s Director General to clarify what the agency calls undeclared nuclear sites in the country.

After the ratification of the resolution, Iran suspended some of the measures taken beyond its safeguards commitments.

“We decided to halt part of the cooperation [with the IAEA] which was beyond the Safeguards Agreements and was not part of our commitments and was underway to show out goodwill,” the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Behrouz Kamalvandi said.

Iran’s foreign minister has earlier called the resolution an attempt by the US to score political points against Iran during the negotiations.

“In the face of the unconstructive behavior of the US in the IAEA, we reciprocated by increasing Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities,” Amirabdollahian told his Iraqi counterpart in a phone call.

He added that Iran prefers diplomacy to get a good agreement in Vienna, but will react to any act of bullying.

MP: Iran parliament sets industry minister impeachment in motion

Reza Fatemi-Amin

Alireza Salimi, in an interview with The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Monday, said the parliament’s presiding board has agreed to the impeachment and the motion has been referred to the relevant commission.

Fatemi-Amin has been under heavy criticism for his handling of the industries in the country, especially the sluggish auto-industry that has failed to rein in the skyrocketing prices and meet the domestic needs.

The move comes days after Iran’s Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Hojjatollah Abdolmaleki resigned after coming under criticism for the problems involving the labor market and pensions.
