US renews warning about Iran’s new strike against Israel

Iran US Flags

Axios, citing a US official and a former Israeli official, reported that Washington relayed to Tehran that it would not be able to restrain Israel if Iran were to attack again.

Axios previously reported that Israeli intelligence suggests Iran is preparing to attack Israel. Iran first responded to Israeli assault in the region amid the ongoing war on Gaza in April, in an attack that was in response to the Israeli bombing of an Iranian consulate building in Syria.

Then, after Israel killed Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, Ismail Haniyeh and Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, in Tehran and Beirut, Iran launched another attack on Israeli military sites.

Israel responded in kind with its a strike on Iranian military strikes.

High-ranking Iranian officials said on Thursday Tehran intends to respond to last week’s Israeli attack, signaling that the months-long cycle of attack and counterattack between Tehran and Tel Aviv that has provoked fears of a wider regional war could continue.

The officials did not provide details on the timing of the response or what form it might take.

On Saturday, the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warned that the US and Israeli regime will receive a crushing response for stoking tensions in the region.

Earthquake jolts Iran’s Garmsar, damage caused

Earthquake Iran

The tremor caused significant damage, cutting off electricity and internet to many homes.

Garmsar’s Governor, Reza Khani, confirmed that emergency response teams are on standby and urged residents to remain calm and adhere to safety precautions.

Although the sound of the earthquake was terrifying, there have been no reports of injuries so far.

Authorities have dispatched assessment teams to the affected areas to evaluate the damage and provide assistance.

Residents are advised to stay vigilant and follow safety guidelines to ensure their well-being.

The quake was felt in the capital Tehran, around 100 kilometers away.

Suspected Israeli naval commandos kidnap Lebanese man near his home

Lebanese transport minister Ali Hamie confirmed the incident and said security bodies are continuing their investigations.

Hamie told local media that the man, a captain of civilian and commercial ships and a student at a naval institute, was seized against his will approximately 100m from his home.

CCTV footage shared by Lebanese media appears to show armed troops moving through the northern coastal town of Batroun early on Friday, near the site of the abduction.

Sources cited by Reuters and Axios attributed the operation to Israel.

An Israeli source told Axios that the abducted man was allegedly a “senior member of Hezbollah’s naval force” and was abducted to gather intelligence on Hezbollah’s naval operations.

There has been no official comment from Israel, Lebanon or Hezbollah.

Since 8 October 2023, a day after the war in the Gaza Strip began, Israel and Hezbollah have been engaged in cross-border hostilities.

The conflict escalated in September with an extensive Israeli bombing campaign across Lebanon, followed by a ground invasion in early October.

Over 2,800 people in Lebanon have been killed over the past year, the majority since last September, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.

Hezbollah has announced it has killed at least 90 Israeli soldiers in ground fighting in southern Lebanon, while the Israeli Army claims it has lost 37 soldiers.

Israel unable to calculate Iran’s response: IRGC spokesman

Ali Mohammad Naeini

Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini, the IRGC’s spokesman and deputy head of the Public Relations Department, was speaking on Saturday about Iran’s retaliation against Israeli aggression on Iranian soil on October 26.

The Islamic Republic has already launched hundreds of missiles on the Israeli-occupied territories as part of two retaliatory operations, dubbed Operation True Promise 1 and 2.

“Iran is able to alter the enemy’s perception in line with the strategy of disciplining and punishing those who violate [the country’s] national security,” Naeini said.

“In fact, Operation True Promise ll was the beginning of the story of catching the Zionists off guard. Henceforth, Iran will always leverage the surprise factor in its operations against the Zionists and will show that the Zionists’ calculation system is incapable of figuring out Iran’s action.”

Touching on Iran’s strong response to the recent Israeli assault, the IRGC spokesman stressed that the enemy should realize that the Islamic Republic will give a “crushing” response to any mischief.

“I state clearly and firmly that the answer to the enemy’s latest attack will be given definitively and decisively. The response will be beyond the perception of the enemy, thoughtful and powerful,” Naeini added.

“The enemy should learn that he cannot do any evil and he will undoubtedly receive a crushing response for his mischief.”

IRGC’s Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami had earlier in the week warned the Israeli regime of an “unimaginable” response for its recent act of aggression against Iran.

On October 1, the Islamic Republic launched 200 missiles towards Israeli military and intelligence bases all over the occupied territories as part of Operation True Promise II.

The operation came in response to more deadly atrocities by the regime against the country and other regional nations, including Israel’s assassinations of the Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah’s leader Nasrallah and Abbas Nilforoushan, a commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

The operation came six months after its prequel that saw the country firing more than 300 missiles and drones against the occupied territories in retaliation for deadly aggression by the Israeli regime that had targeted Iranian diplomatic facilities in the Syrian capital of Damascus earlier that month.

Iranian MP: Top security body approved retaliatory attack against Israel

Esmaeil Kowsari added that all members of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council have agreed to the response to the Zionist regime.

He added that the resistance groups of the region will also be involved in the attack on Israel.

Kowsari called the Zionist regime’s aggression against Iran as “foolish”, noting that Iran has a right to retaliate the attack under international law.

He also said the Supreme National Security Council has already made a decision on the issue. However, Kowsari did not confirm CNN’s report that Tehran will give a response to the Zionist regime before the US presidential election next week.

He said no one knows when Iran is going to retaliate the Israeli aggression.

The recent Israeli attack on Iran killed four army personnel.

Israel bracing for Iran’s attack: Source

A person close to Israeli leaders who was briefed on the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters, told The Washington Post on Saturday that “the current intelligence is pointing to the possibility that Iran is preparing an attack on Israel in [the] coming days”.

A high-ranking source has also told CNN on Wednesday that Israel’s recent attacks on Iran will be met with a “definitive and painful” response that will likely come before the US presidential vote.

“The response of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the aggression of the Zionist regime will be definitive and painful,” the source, who is familiar with Iran’s deliberations, said.

Although the source did not provide an exact date for the attack, they added it “will probably take place before the day of the US presidential election”.

The Israeli regime attacked several Iranian military facilities early Saturday, killing four servicemen of the Armed Forces and one civilian.

The Iranian Air Defense Forces said in a statement that the country’s integrated air defense system successfully intercepted and countered the Israeli strikes targeting military locations in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces.

The attacks caused limited damage in some locations and the dimensions of the incident are under investigation, the statement added.

Iran has strongly condemned the Israeli assault as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, reiterating its right to defend itself against foreign acts of aggression. Tehran has stressed that it is not looking for war but will not abandon its right to give an appropriate and firm response to Israel’s latest onslaught.

Renowned Iranian Sunni cleric attends introduction ceremony of new governor

Mowlavi Abdolhamid

A picture of Molavi Abdolhamid was published in the media on Saturday, showing the senior cleric with strong backing attending the ceremony to introduce Mansour Bijar held in the presence of the minister of interior.

Speaking at the ceremony, Molavi Abdolhamid said, “The president made a promise for the benefit of the country and the people of Iran, and we are trying to make good on our promise in order to help fulfill these pledges.”

He also thanked the administration of national unity for trusting ethnic groups of Iran when it comes to appointments of officials to government posts.

Molavi Abdolhamid previously expressed his support for the new governor, stating, “We are pleased that the government has chosen someone from within the province as the governor of Sistan and Baluchestan.”

“He is a capable, knowledgeable, and skilled individual who has held the position of deputy governor for urban development for several terms,” he noted.

Bijar is the first Baluch and Sunni governor of Sistan and Baluchestan since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The appointment of a local Sunni Baluch as the government’s representative in a province frequently targeted by terrorists affiliated with extremist groups is seen as a fulfillment of election promises by President Massoud Pezeshkian.

It follows the appointment of a Kurdish Sunni deputy minister and a local individual as the governor of Kordestan, demonstrating a gradual implementation of his commitment.

The appointment also comes over two years after a deadly incident following the Friday prayers at the Makki Mosque in Zahedan, a religious base of the influential Molavi Abdolhamid. During the incident, dozens of anti-government protesters who stormed a police station were killed.

World ‘merely watching’ as North Korea threat grows: Zelensky

Volodymyr Zelensky

Zelensky stated that if Ukraine had permission to use Western long-range weapons on Russian territory, it could preemptively target “every camp” in Russia where North Korean troops are gathering.

The president’s warning follows reports that 8,000 North Korean troops are amassed in Kursk Oblast and preparing to enter combat alongside Russian forces in the coming days.

“North Korea has tested a new ballistic missile just yesterday, achieving record time and sufficient altitude,” Zelensky wrote on X.

“Yet the world is just watching, observing as this threat grows,” he added.

Pyongyang’s cooperation with Moscow has enabled improvements in North Korean military technology that are “already evident”, he continued. With North Korean troops joining Russia on the battlefield, Pyongyang will also have the opportunity to learn the tactics of “modern warfare”.

“The first thousands of North Korean soldiers are already near Ukraine’s borders, and Ukrainians will be forced to defend themselves against them,” Zelensky said.

Ukraine is able to see “every site on Russian territory where these North Korean soldiers are accumulating—every camp”, Zelensky added. With permission to launch Western long-range weapons at these targets, Ukraine could potentially prevent the deployment of North Korean troops on the front lines.

“Instead of providing the crucial long-range capabilities, however, America is watching, Britain is watching, and Germany is watching.”

Zelensky also called on China to exert its influence over Russia and North Korea, urging Beijing to prove its commitment to ending the war.

While there have been growing reports that the UK may amend its position on Ukraine’s of its Storm Shadow missiles for long-range strikes, the US and Germany continue to insist that such a move would lead to unnecessary escalation with Russia.

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui has promised that Pyongyang would stand with Russia “until the day of victory” during talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Friday.

“Our traditional, historically friendly relations, which have traveled the tested path of history, today … are rising to a new level of relations of invincible military comradeship,” Choe told Lavrov.

Choe went on to praise Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “wise leadership” and stated that North Korea is convinced Russia will “achieve a great victory in their sacred struggle to protect the sovereign rights and security interests of their state”.

“And we also assure that until the day of victory we will firmly stand alongside our Russian comrades,” she added.

Almost quarter of buildings in southern Lebanon damaged or destroyed in Israeli attacks: Report

Lebanon War

An analysis by the paper, in collaboration with City University of New York Graduate Center and Oregon State University, used Sentinel-1 satellite images and verified videos from social media to examine the impact.

Findings revealed extensive destruction of homes and infrastructure due to ongoing airstrikes and increased ground attacks.

The analysis showed that nearly 25% of structures in 25 municipalities near the Israeli border sustained damage, with controlled demolitions destroyed at least nine religious sites.

In border villages Ayta ash-Shab and Kfar Kila, nearly half of all buildings were severely damaged and at least 5,868 buildings affected from Israeli attacks.

Although Israel has continued its attacks on Lebanon since October last year, 80% of the damage has occurred since Israel launched its ground offensive last month.

Israel launched a massive air campaign last month in Lebanon against what it claims are Hezbollah targets in an escalation in a year of cross-border warfare between Israel and the group since the start of Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza.

Nearly 2,900 people have been killed and more than 13,000 injured in Israeli aggression since last October, according to Lebanese health authorities.

Israel expanded the conflict by launching an incursion into southern Lebanon on Oct. 1.

Iran Leader: US, Israel will definitely get crushing response

Ayatollah Khamenei

In a meeting with students on Saturday marking the Students Day  Ayatollah Khamenei said, “The enemies, both the US and the Zionist regime, should know that they will definitely receive a crushing response to what they are doing against Iran and the resistance front.”

The meeting took place on the eve of the takeover anniversary of the US embassy in Tehran in 1979.

The Leader also highlighted Iran’s comprehensive readiness to confront global arrogance, assuring that all necessary measures, whether military, armament, or political, are being taken to prepare the Iranian nation.

“We are certainly doing everything required to ensure the readiness of the Iranian nation, and thankfully, our officials are actively engaged in this effort,” he stated.

The Leader emphasized that the collective movement of the Iranian people and officials towards confronting global arrogance and the criminal apparatus governing the current world order will not falter, stressing, “Rest assured, there will be no negligence in this regard.”

Ayatollah Khamenei clarified that the issue is not merely about revenge but about a logical movement aligned with religion, ethics, and international laws.

Touching on the issue of the U.S. embassy takeover, the Leader asserted it “was not merely a place for diplomatic and intelligence activities; it was a headquarters for planning internal provocations against the Revolution, destroying the Revolution, and even threatening the life of the revered Imam (Khomeini).”

He further stressed that the struggle is about confronting international oppression.

“Confronting arrogance is a duty. Arrogance means comprehensive economic, military, and cultural domination and the humiliation of nations. The Iranian nation had been humiliated for years. Therefore, the struggle of the Iranian nation has been and will continue to be against arrogance,” he concluded.
