140,000 New Jobs in Tourism by March 2018: CHTHO Chief

soltanifar

“We have already submitted some plans to create jobs in these fields to the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare,” he explained.

The CHTHO is already developing 1,752 projects in the tourism sector in different parts of Iran, including building hotels and residences, he said.

“We have already held some negotiations with Turkish and German investors for building about 20 five-star hotels in the coming years. This will have a great impact on the tourism industry in the country,” he concluded.

Turkish investors will build ten hotels in Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz and Mashhad, under the terms of an agreement with Iran signed during a Turkish delegation’s visit to Tehran in mid-May.

According to an agreement signed between CHTHO and German hospitality company, Steigenberger Hotel Group in late May, the company is set to build 10 hotels in different parts of Iran over the next ten years.

Chabahar Port: Indian Firms to Invest $235m

india iran chabahar port

Mohammad Saeed Nejad told IRNA on Tuesday June 28 that Indian firms are to invest $85m in build–operate–transfer (BOT) and $150m in finance to supply the required equipment for Chabahar port.

Based on the BOT contract, Indian firms will have to deliver all the equipment to Iran after 10 years, he said. By making a $150m finance investment to buy and install port equipment, Indian firms will invest a total of $235m during 18 months to supply required equipment.

Saeed Nejad said that supplying the needed equipment for Iran’s ports is the Ports and Maritime Organization’s main priority, adding that the first line of credit (LC), valued at $170m, was opened and four other LCs are set to be opened for European companies.

11 Terrorists Killed by IRGC in Northwest Iran

IRGC

Fars News Agency reported the development on Tuesday June 28, citing Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Rajabi, the IRGC commander in the north-western Iranian Kurdistan Province.

Rajabi described the members of the group as “counter-revolutionaries.” Such elements have been unsuccessfully working against Iran’s Islamic Revolution since its 1979 victory, he said. As soon as they entered the country, he said, the group was monitored by the IRGC’s Kurdistan arm.

“The [IRGC] forces blocked the entry points and, subjugating the team to their will, led them toward the spot we desired,” the official said. “After ten days of following them, we led them to the Kouhsalan area of [the province’s] city of Sarvabad, where our forces annihilated all the 11 members.”

The operation also led to the deaths of three IRGC members.

Bushehr Power Plant Contracts Upcoming: Rusatom

Bushehr Power Plant

“We will sign a new four-year contract at the end of this year,” Rusatom Service Deputy General Director Mikhail Poznyakov said at a seminar on Monday, Sputnik reported. He added that Tehran has requested Moscow to provide maintenance staff for the units.

Earlier, the head of Rosatom confirmed that the nuclear energy corporation plans to set up two additional energy blocks at Bushehr nuclear power plant in 2016.

“This year, we are beginning construction of the second and third (energy blocks),” Sergei Kiriyenko said on June 14.

Back in January, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said Iran and Russia had signed agreements for the construction of “two big reactors in Bushehr.”

In November 2014, Tehran and Moscow struck a deal to build eight more nuclear power plants in Iran.

Russia has already built a power plant in Bushehr. The agreement for Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was finalized in 1995, but the project was delayed several times due to a number of technical and financial issues.

More than 40 Killed in Yemen Suicide Attacks

Yemen

According to media reports covered by ISNA, the attacks occurred in Mukalla, a southeastern port city in Hadramaut province.

Mukalla map- Yemen BombAt least 37 people were injured — all security officers except for five civilians, according to the two officials, both of whom are in the provincial governor’s office.

One of the attacks targeted a military compound near a government intelligence building. The others targeted military checkpoints. A child walking near one of the checkpoints was killed.

Amaq, a media voice of ISIS, said in a statement published on Twitter that four ISIS attackers targeted a joint security base.

The areas attacked had been mostly controlled by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and ISIS before Yemeni forces started a campaign against that group. AQAP and ISIS have been responsible for at least 40 attacks over the last three months only in Hadramaut, the Defence Ministry said.

Last month, at least 30 troops were killed and dozens others injured when an AQAP suicide bomber attacked a military base in Mukalla. The suicide bomber approached the main gate for the military base and detonated a bomb when recruits crowded the gate.

Yemen has been under military attacks by Saudi Arabia and its allies since March 2015.

Nearly 9,400 Yemenis, including 4,000 women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.

President of France’s National Assembly Due in Iran in July

Claude Bartolone

Speaking to Tasnim, Hossein Sheikh al-Eslam said that Bartolone, heading a parliamentary delegation, will start the visit on Friday, July 15.

He said the visit will take place upon an official invitation by Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, adding that the French lawmaker will meet high-ranking Iranian officials, including Larijani.

Last week, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with French President Francois Hollande and his counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault in Paris. Zarif, who was on his first official visit to Paris upon invitation by Ayrault, met with Hollande at The Élysée Palace.

The two sides consulted on the Tehran-Paris cooperation agreement made during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Paris.

Trade and economic issues and regional crises, including ongoing crisis in Syria, were among other topics at the meeting. The Iranian Foreign Minister also had a separate meeting with Jean-Marc Ayrault.

“US Human Rights Conditions in 2015” Published in Iran

US Human Rights

Here’s IFP’s translation of a report by Mizan:

US Human Rights-books-2015The Deputy Head of Iran’s Human Rights Council, Kazem Gharib-Abadi, noted that the book “Human Rights Conditions in the US in 2015” has been published for the occasion of the “Day of Revealing American Human Rights”, which is set to be marked on July 2.

In a speech last year, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the numerous crimes which were committed by the US against Iranian nationals from June 28 to July 3, and suggested that the week should be entitled the “Week of American Human Rights”.

“In this period, the true nature of American human rights was revealed in our country,” the Leader said, back on June 27, 2015. *

Accordingly, on January 11 this year, President Hassan Rouhani communicated a law designating July 2 in Iran’s calendar as the “Day of Revealing American Human Rights”.

Speaking to Mizan, Gharib-Abadi referred to the Leader’s suggestion, noting that the Human Rights Council had pursued the inclusion of such a day in the country’s national calendar, and is now releasing its first published account of the cases of human rights violations in the US on the first anniversary of the day.

“The book, which was compiled by the Human Rights Council and published by Judiciary Publication, reveals the US violations of human rights in different fields in 2015,” he said.

“The entire content of the book, which is composed in two sections of ‘reports’ and ‘news’, is gathered from the documents, reports, and news disseminated by international human rights bodies and organizations, as well as several media outlets, mostly Western ones,” Gharib-Abadi went on to say.

“The 130-page book deals with breaches of human rights in the US in various chapters, including the judiciary system and prison, torture, violence, murder, missing people, discrimination, racism, Islamophobia, genocide, women, children, labourers, and civil and social freedoms,” he added.

“The book can be used as a valid source for academics, researchers, students, and experts active in different related fields, including human rights, international rights, and international relations, in order to discover the real nature of the US and their false claims regarding human rights.”

He also said that the Iranian Council had prepared several reports and documents about the violations of human rights in other Western countries, and will publish them in due time.

* Here is the full text of Leader’s remarks about the American Human Rights:

“Take a look at the following days: tomorrow is the 7th of Tir [28th of June] when the event [terrorist bombing] of the Islamic Republic Party occurred. On the 7th of Tir of the year 1366 [28, June, 1988], [Western Iranian city of] Sardasht became the target of chemical-weapons bombardment. It was done by Saddam, but who was behind him? It was the Americans, westerners and those people who gave him chemical bombs. They showed him the green light and remained silent in the face of these grave crimes and this dreadful massacre. On the 11th of Tir [2th of July] – a few days later – Shahid Sadduqi was assassinated and the same criminals perpetrated it. On the 12th of Tir, the Airbus passenger plane was shot down over the Persian Gulf. Notice how many assassinations and massacres were carried out from the 7th to 12th of Tir [28th of June to 3rd of July]. Notice how many women, children, scholars and politicians became the target of American agents. Even if these events were not masterminded by the intelligence services of America and the west, they at least encouraged those who did. Therefore, we should know these enemies. As some friends say, it would be good if we named the period from the 7th to 12th of Tir [28th of June to 3rd of July] “The Week of American Human Rights”. In this period, the true nature of American human rights was revealed in our country.”

Zarif: Chemical Weapons Tragedies Still Occurring in Region

Zarif

“Today we are witnessing the same mistakes of the past by the hegemonic powers who are equipping terrorist groups such as ISIS [Daesh] with toxic materials and chemical weapons against regional countries,” Zarif said in his message.

If the international community does not deal with the issue with a serious sense of responsibility, we will witness a repeat of tragedies like Sardasht and Halabja in the future, he noted.

As a systematic policy, he stated, the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns any activity related to weapons of mass destruction, including chemical weapons, and their use by anyone and under any circumstances.

Offering his condolences to the chemically injured and the families of the victims, Zarif said that the anniversary of the Sardasht chemical attack is an opportunity to remind us of the international community’s responsibility towards chemically injured people.

He urged the international community to take legal and moral responsibility to compensate at least some of the damage done to the victims and their families.

Noting that the Sardasht chemical attack should be a symbolic event for taking collective action against war crimes and the use of the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs), Zarif said, “Nineteen years after the execution of Chemical Weapons Convention Implementation Act of 1998, the time has come to annihilate all chemical weapons possessed by the member states and prevent reproduction of these types of arms.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as an active member of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, will pursue the rights of all chemically injured people and families of the victims in the international bodies, he added.

The city of Sardasht in West Azerbaijan province was the third city in the world, after Japan’s Hiroshima and Nagasaki, to become the target of Weapons of Mass Destruction on June 28 and 29, 1987.

At that time, Iraqi bombers attacked 4 crowded parts of Sardasht with chemical bombs, engulfing its residents, women and children, young and old alike, with fatal chemical gases, leaving many dead and thousands injured.

Unfortunately, the international community kept silent toward the tragedy and did not blame the Iraqi regime. The survivors, with their burned, blistered skin and eyes, had to relate the account of their relatives and friends to the next generation. Thousands of the survivors are still suffering from chronic pain.
