Iran’s FM Pledges Push to Facilitate Trade with Latin America

Mohammad Javad Zarif-America

Speaking at a formal dinner ceremony at the Cuban capital of Havana’s Hotel Nacional de Cuba on Sunday night, the Iranian minister said all Iranian political missions across Latin America will help the country’s private and state sectors to interact with the countries in such “major part of the world” and press ahead with the current plans.

He also noted that the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), has removed the obstacles and opened up opportunities for closer ties between Iran and the Latin American nations, Tasnim reported.

Zarif arrived in Cuba on Sunday as the first leg of a Latin America tour, which will take him later to Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia and Venezuela.

Iran Determined to Enhance Ties with Latin American States

Before landing in Havana, the Iranian minister said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has had strong and age-old relations with the Americas and Latin American states and is determined to expand its relations with and political and economic presence in this important region of the world.”

Zarif said 60 businessmen and managers from the Iranian private sector and 20 managers from the Iranian state-run economic sector were accompanying him on the trip.

“The composition of the delegation,” Zarif said, “is indicative of the significance that both the private and the state-run sectors of the Islamic Republic of Iran attach to the enhancement of relations with Latin America.”

The Iranian foreign minister said Iran’s private and state-run sectors have implemented several projects in Latin American countries over the past few years, and “the Islamic Republic of Iran has diplomatic relations with nearly all the counties in the region.”

Turning to the issue of the relations between Iran and Cuba — his first destination on the Latin American tour — the Iranian foreign minister said Iran stands with the Cuban government and nation, Press TV reported.

“Cubans have endured more than five decades of cruel US pressure and sanctions,” Zarif said, adding that even though US President Barack Obama recently paid a visit to Cuba, “the sanctions continue although they have been reduced a little.”

He also praised the biotechnological, scientific and medicinal cooperation between Iran and Cuba, expressing hope that interaction between the Iranian private sector and Cuba would further flourish in technical and engineering arenas.

Zarif is expected to sign several contracts in the fields of oil, energy and maritime transport in his tour.

His previous Latin America tour in May, took Zarif to Brazil, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Venezuela and Cuba.

President of France’s National Assembly Due in Iran in Sept.

Claude Bartolone

Heading a parliamentary delegation, Bartolone will travel to Iran on September 5 at the invitation of Iran’s Parliament speaker Ali Larijani.

The top French parliamentarian will hold meetings with high-ranking officials, including the Iranian parliament speaker, President Hassan Rouhani and Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

The visit will come against the backdrop of a new wave of interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran’s nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16.

The comprehensive nuclear deal, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.

Iranian Scientists Unveil Absolute Cure for Migraine

Migraña

According to a report by ISNA, as translated by IFP, Ramezani, who is one of the scientists contributing to the production of MigriHeal, said it is an absolute cure for migraine.

“This inhaled drug was produced in 2005. In 2009 its industrial production phase was kicked off when 1,400 patients in Aramesh Clinic took the medicine as treatment,” Ramezani noted.

81% of the patients were cured perfectly while the rest are having fewer migraine attacks, he went on to say.

MigriHeal“Phase 3 of MigriHeal’s production will start soon with the approval of Food and Drug Organization,” he stressed.

According to him, a few hundred patients diagnosed with migraine are supposed to receive treatment through the use of stop-ed-black.com in Aramesh clinic.

Ramezani explained that there are two types of migraine: chronic and acute. In chronic migraine the patient suffers 21 attacks of headaches in a year; however, in acute or severe migraine, it rises to 15 protracted attacks monthly, each lasting over 14 hours.

Foreign Ministry to Allocate Budget to Release of Iranian Prisoners Abroad

Hassan Qashqavi

Qashqavi recently appeared on a live interview with IRIB’s international TV channel, Jame Jam, and gave details about the services the country gives to the Iranians living overseas including those imprisoned.

“Statistics gathered from the country’s embassies and agencies throughout the world indicate that Iranians living abroad are enjoying an increased amount of services inasmuch as 20 to 30 per cent,” Qashqavi stressed, as reported by ISNA and translated by IFP.

Services to Iranian Inmates Abroad

Qashqavi hailed Iran’s attempts to protect the rights of Iranian prisoners overseas and said, “Around 800 inmates incarcerated in 40 to 50 countries are released annually.”

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked the Parliament to allocate part of the country’s next year budget for supporting prisoners abroad.

“Providing further support for Iranian prisoners, hiring defence lawyers, and holding negotiation for their freedom are among the services planned to be provided by the Ministry,” he added.

“Thanks to the attempts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have Iranian prisoners released, we have been successful in some cases,” he noted.

“Some have been swapped and a few others are spending their sentence terms in Iran.”

Qashqavi pointed to the Iranian families living abroad and said, “If members of their families are imprisoned there, hereby I give them an assurance that officials in Iranian embassies will spare no effort to help them if they refer to our embassy in that country.”

Fast Consular Services

Qashqavi emphasized that most Iranian agencies abroad provide consular services within a span of one day, except for a few countries where it takes one week at most.

“Visa is also issued very quickly because the government does it electronically,” he stressed.

Iran is one of the few countries that issues visas at the airport, he noted, adding, “Except for 10 countries including the US, Britain, Canada and a few others, which act in accordance with the Law of Reciprocal Actions, travellers from other countries can receive 90-day visas on-arrival.”

Diplomatic Relations with Britain and Canada

Regarding the status of diplomatic and consular relations with Britain and Canada, Qashqavi pointed to the legislation passed in the Parliament and said, “Accordingly, Iran’s diplomatic relations with Britain is at the level of charge d’affaires. Meanwhile, efforts by both sides to improve relations are in progress.”

“Consular services for Iranians are agonisingly slow, though,” he regretted.

“Although there have been changes in Canada’s approach towards Iran, the process of visa issuance is still unaffected,” he argued.

Therefore, he added, Iranians who want to obtain visa to travel to Canada are required to refer to the country’s Interests Section or try neighbouring countries.”

Senior Shiite Cleric Thanks Pope for His Stance on Islam

Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi

According to a report by Jomhouri Eslami newspaper, as translated by IFP, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi penned a thank-you-letter to the Pope on account of the Catholic leader’s recent denial of any relationship between terrorist operations by Takfiri [extremist] groups and Islam.

“I explicitly announce that according to Muslim scholars and the vast majority of Muslims, Takfiri sects are renegades of Islam and deemed to be the greatest scourge on humanity,” he wrote in his letter which was handed to the Pope by Iran’s Ambassador to Vatican City.

In his letter, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi also condemned the July murder of a French priest by terrorists at a church in France.

His remarks came after Pope Francis defended Muslims and stressed that ‘Islam is NOT terrorism’.

In early August, the Pope said, “I think it is not right to identify Islam with terrorism.

“It is not right and it is not true.”

Francis was responding to a question about the killing on July 26 of an 85-year-old Roman Catholic priest by knife-wielding attackers who burst into a church service in western France, forced the priest to his knees and slit his throat.

The attack was claimed by ISIS, as reported by The Express.

He said, “I think that in nearly all religions there is always a small fundamentalist group.”

“We have them,” he said, referring to Catholicism.

“I don’t like to talk about Islamic violence because every day when I look at the papers I see violence here in Italy – someone killing his girlfriend, someone killing his mother-in-law. These are baptised Catholics.”

“If I speak of Islamic violence, I have to speak of Catholic violence. Not all Muslims are violent.”

He said there were various causes of terrorism.

The Pope said, “I know it dangerous to say this but terrorism grows when there is no other option and when money is made and it, instead of the person, is put at the centre of the world economy.

“That is the first form of terrorism. That is a basic terrorism against all humanity. Let’s talk about that.”

Turquoise Mine in Neyshabur, Northeastern Iran

For at least 2,000 years, Iran has remained an important source of turquoise, which was named by Iranians initially “Pirouzeh” meaning “victory” and later after Arab invasion “Firouzeh”.

In Iranian architecture, the blue turquoise was used to cover the domes of the Iranian palaces because its intense blue colour was also a symbol of heaven on earth.

Here are Mizan’s photos of a mine in Neyshabur in Khorasan Razavi Province:

Hegemonic Powers Not Opposed to Secular Islam: Leader

In a Sunday meeting with a group of clerics and prayer leaders in Tehran on the occasion of World Mosque Day, the Leader said a “secular Islam,” which is restricted to individual or collective worship, is not the subject of hostility for domineering powers, Press TV reported.

What bullying powers are opposed to is a “powerful Islam” which lays the foundations for a socio-political system and guides nations towards prosperity, Ayatollah Khamenei added.

US Crippled in West Asia by Revolutionary Islam

The Leader highlighted the Islamic Revolution’s clout and the significance of Revolutionary Islam, saying they have practically crippled the US in West Asia.

“Thanks to revolutionary Islam and the Islamic Revolution, the world bullies have failed to achieve their main objective, namely ruling the region, and the US is practically crippled in the West Asia region,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, as reported by Tasnim.

Pointing to the complicated and diverse attempts made by the enemies since the 1979 Islamic Revolution for cultural infiltration into Iran, the Leader said the “constant and multi-layered” hostile moves are aimed at undermining people’s religious faith.

Likening the Islamic Revolution to an earthquake that shattered the pillars of the hegemonic system, Ayatollah Khamenei said Iran could have also become a follower of the US if the Iranian nation had not remained faithful to Islam.

A great miracle of the Islamic Revolution is that the youth of today are more steadfast than the young generation at the time of the 1979 Revolution despite a whole host of plots for cultural infiltration and undermining people’s beliefs, Ayatollah Khamenei added.

World Mosque Day Marks Israel’s Crime against Aqsa Mosque

The Leader also touched upon the international occasion, the World Mosque Day, and said Iran insistently demanded that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) designate August 21 as World Mosque Day in an effort to draw attention to Israel’s burning of the al-Aqsa Mosque in 1969.

On this day 47 year ago, Aqsa Mosque was set on fire by an Australian settler in coordination with Israeli officials and military forces. The fire gutted the southeastern wing of the mosque.

Iran Condemns Deadly Terrorist Attack in Turkey

Bahram Ghasemi

On Sunday, Qassemi strongly condemned the suicide attack, which hit a wedding ceremony in the city of Gaziantep on Saturday, and offered the Iranian people and government’s condolences to the bereaved families.

“Such (terror) acts by Takfiri extremists have targeted the peace and security of regional states,” Qassemi said, stressing that the countries in the region need to seriously combat the phenomenon.

He added that killing of innocent people and civilians in a wedding celebration showed one more time the Takfiri terrorists’ “sinister and evil” intentions against humanity.

The terrorist attack hit a large group of people from a wedding party, security sources said.

Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek told broadcaster NTV the blast appeared to be the work of a suicide bomber.

Mahmut Togrul, a member of parliament for Gaziantep from pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party, said it was a Kurdish wedding. Daesh (also known as ISIL and ISIS) has been blamed for suicide bombings on Kurdish gatherings in the past.

Turkey faces multiple security threats from Daesh at home and across the border with neighboring Syria as well as from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Environmental Education to Be Provided in 108,000 Schools: Ebtekar

VP Asks Iranians to Use Helpline to Report Domestic Violence

According to a report by Mehr, as translated by IFP, Ebtekar said that with the help of the Ministry of Education, the Department of Environment has devised guidelines and instructions which will be communicated soon and implemented in 108,000 schools across the country.

She made the remarks in an address to the closing ceremony of Khwarizmi International Award for teenagers in Shahid Beheshti Teachers Training Faculty in Iran’s north-eastern city of Mashhad.

The Department of Environment has inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education on environmental activities, which has yielded considerable achievements, she noted.

“This year, especial educational programs have been envisaged for the schools that are adjacent to the country’s [natural] Protected Areas,” she noted.

Based on the programs, rangers will attend the classes in their uniforms to present students with significant details about their job, wildlife, etc., in an effort to raise public environmental awareness, Ebtekar noted.

She announced that a secretariat of eco-schools has been established in Iran’s north-eastern province of Khorasan Razavi, which, along with education, focuses on environmental issues.

“It’s good to know that environmental issues have found their way into students’ textbooks and student-run environmental groups are pretty active in the country,” she went on to say.

Ebtekar highlighted the importance of students’ role in sustainable development and said, “Students have formed pro-environmental groups in Khorasan Razavi and have taken valuable measures, which are laudable.”

Referring to the entrepreneurship as an important part of Khwarizmi International Award and its close relationship with environment, Ebtekar noted that, “Irrespective of our job types, we all have to keep watchful eyes on environment.”

Ebtekar stressed that the Department of Environment is willing to kick off productive cooperation with Khwarizmi International Award if it shows enthusiasm in environmental fields such as climate or environmental diversity.

She renewed her warning about the shortage of water resources in the country and stressed that “agricultural and irrigation patterns should undergo changes in some areas.”
