In a decree on Saturday, Rouhani named Zahra Ahmadipour as the new vice president and the ICHHTO head.

He said the appointment has been made given Ahmadipour’s dutifulness, scientific record and valuable experience.

Rouhani expressed hope that she would be successful in the path of serving the Iranian nation and the Islamic establishment by observing the principles of the rule of law, moderation and the Iranian administration’s Ethics Charter.

ISIS Once Got Hit by Iran near Border: General

General Hassan Firouzabadi

In an interview with Tasnim, Major General Hassan Firouzabadi, a senior military adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said the armed forces have already carried out a threat to smash Takfiri militants from inside Iran if they get any closer than 40 kilometres to the Iran-Iraq borders.

When Takfiri terrorists launched an attack against Baghdad and surrounded the Iraqi capital from three directions, the roads and small towns in eastern parts of the city were within a radius of 40 kilometres from Iran’s western borders, the general explained.

Iran carried out its threat and hit ISIS before they could approach any closer to Iran, Major General Firouzabadi added, noting that reports of the attack were never made public, like those of many other measures by Iran.

Iraq has been gripped by a deadly militancy since ISIS captured areas in north and west of the country in the summer of 2014.

However, the Iraqi army and Popular Mobilization Forces have managed to retake many positions from the militants.

Iran, a close ally of Iraq, has been supporting the Arab nation in the fight against Daesh since the terrorist group invaded Iraq.

Saudi Arabia Is the Answer to All Investigations about Source of Terrorism: French Journalist

According to a report by IRNA, as translated by IFP, Richard Labévière, the author of the book “Terrorism, the dark side of globalization”, which is to be published on November 14 in France, had an interview with the French-speaking radio Channel III of Algiers.

In this interview, he says “all investigations on terrorism bring us back to Saudi Arabia.”

“Saudi Arabia finances the growth of radicalism as it continues to do so today with the Al-Nusra Front in Syria. The strategy of Saudi Arabia through this funding is to first encourage the expansion of Wahhabism, and then to destabilize states, as it allows a redistribution of wealth in the region.”

“Terrorism is a vital fuel for wild neoliberal globalization. It has even become a full-fledged economic sector because it is the waste needed for the economic expansion of globalization.”

Referring to the current situation in the Middle East, the journalist says it is the result of foreign intervention in the region.

“The interests of Israel and the United States in the region are in breaking all these nation states into microstates, and returning Arabs to tribalism.”

Labévière then returned to the war in Syria and said, “After destroying Iraq, Western powers came to notice the Syrian nation state.”

“Syrian conflict is not a conflict between gentle rebels and an evil dictator as mainstream media want us to believe,” he noted.

“The reason is the rivalry between two opponents: on the one hand the axis of United States, Europe, Israel and the Persian Gulf States, which seeks to disintegrate Syria, and on the other hand, the Syrian state aided by its allies (Russia, Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah) which want to maintain the national state.”

“Undoubtedly, what has created the security in our country is (the people’s) alertness, vigilance, awareness and internal solidarity,” President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday in an address to the opening ceremony of the 22nd edition of the Press Exhibition in Tehran.

“Media, culture, and art professionals should promote security in the society,” President Rouhani said, stressing that security is not just assured through the power of bullet.

“The power of culture is way beyond that of bullet and diplomacy. Media are responsible for propagating this culture in the cyber space and among the society,” he went on to say, as translated by IFP.

He added that terrorism in the region stems from an incorrect understanding of Islam and Islamic Jihad, stressing that what can protect the region from insecurity is for people’s refusal to listen to voices of extremism, Tasnim reported.

Representatives of more than 900 newspapers, news agencies and media outlets have attended the expo.

According to a report by Entekhab, as translated by IFP, a group of 200 Iranian-Kurdish women are taking part in Mosul Liberation Operation along with Iraqi forces and Kurdish Peshmarga.

Reuters claimed that one of these Iranian women has already been killed in the fight against ISIS.

These women have told Reuters that the ISIS is afraid of women.

Knowing the atrocities the ISIS has carried out against women, these Iranians say the female fighters had made a pact never to allow themselves to be taken captive.

One of them says she is not afraid of ISIS militants even though she has seen what heinous crimes they commit. She said she is resolved to fight the terrorist group after seeing their atrocities.

Egyptian FM May Visit Iran in Near Future

According to a report by Iranian Diplomacy news website¸ as translated by IFP, Tehran and Cairo are going to take effective steps to improve bilateral relations.

Iran’s recent mediation between Egypt and Iraq for an oil contract played a major role in reinforcing Tehran-Cairo ties. Based on the contract, Iraq’s oil will replace that of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Arab further reported that Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry may also pay an official visit to Tehran in the coming days to upgrade the level of ties with Iran.

Iran and Egypt have held no diplomatic ties since 1980 when Cairo offered asylum to the former shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and maintained peace treaties with Israel.

Egypt is the only Arab country without an embassy in Iran. However, since the official resignation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in February 2011, relations started to improve significantly.

In April 2012, Iran appointed an ambassador to Egypt.

Following the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, and the appointment of ambassadors after nearly 30 years, Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi made a historic first visit to Iran since the Iranian Revolution for the 2012 Non-Aligned Movement summit on 30 August.

Soon after Egyptian Morsi’s visit, it was decided to reestablish bilateral diplomatic relations, with rededication of embassy locations. A first ambassador was nominated to represent Egypt in Iran.

In March 2013, direct flights between two countries were reinstated.

Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, also visited Egypt in February 2013, making him the first Iranian president to travel to Egypt since the Iranian Revolution.

Iranian President Explains Why Mosul Fell to ISIS’ Hands

rouhani

Addressing the opening ceremony of the 22nd Press Exhibition in Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani said that “if terrorism is attractive for the society, and if people – even part of them – are keen on the call of terrorists, neither foreign policy nor military power can resolve the issue of security.”

According to a report by Al Alam, as translated by IFP, President Rouhani referred to the fall of Mosul as an example, and said, “Why should a big city with a population of 1.5 million and strong armed forces fall in a very short time?”

“Was the fall of Mosul caused by the terrorists’ superior military power compared with the army deployed in the city? Or was it caused by people’s decreased devotion to Baghdad?”

“Mosul’s emotional and political link with Baghdad had been cut off. [Under those conditions in Mosul] not only ISIS, but any other armed group could overcome Mosul, not necessarily with a black banner, but even with a white flag,” Rouhani went on to say.

“Foreign policy couldn’t save Mosul; neither could the Iraqi army,” Rouhani added, warning that Iran should not make the same mistake.

“By the end of this fall, Iran’s gas output from the South Pars gas field will reach 500 million cubic meters per day,” Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company Mohammad Meshkinfam told the Tasnim News Agency.

He said Iran currently produces 430 million cubic meters of gas per day from the field, adding that 70 million cubic meters will be added to its daily natural gas output within the next 45 days.

The Iranian official further said that the field’s total output is expected to hit 530 million cubic meters per day by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2017).

Iran sits on the world’s second largest conventional gas reserves after Russia. The bulk of the country’s gas reserves lie in South Pars gas field in Persian Gulf waters.

South Pars covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatar’s territorial waters.

The gas field is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world’s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.

Iraq’s al-Sumaria satellite television quoted an unnamed security source that claimed Mosul residents on Friday evening killed ISIS terrorists serving as security for the city’s main prison, resulting in the liberation of at least 45 prisoners.

This comes as Iraqi forces and their allies close in on the ISIS stronghold after launching full-scale operations October 17 to liberate the city, as reported by Entekhab and translated by IFP.

Simultaneous operations are aimed at liberating the city, particularly from the east, while securing Iraq’s borders with Syria.
