Oil Extraction in Front of Customers: New Lucrative Business in Iran

Oil Extraction in Front of Customers: New Lucrative Business in Iran

At a time when the economy is stagnant and large numbers of university graduates are grappling with unemployment, some young people come up with innovative ideas and set up new businesses without waiting for the government’s job creation plans to be implemented.

After news went viral on mass media that many kinds of oils available on the market are transgenic and [harmful] palm oils, people began to show an interest in using sesame and olive oils. On the same note, the business of extracting oil in front of customers began to emerge: A job needing not much investment with a high income.

32-year-old Mahdi Mohammadi holds a high school diploma and is working in the business of “oil extraction in front of customers.” He says he has been in this business for three years, and that he is satisfied with his job.

According to a Farsi report by Tasnim, he says it has been a few years that people are showing an interest toward vegetable oils such as corn, soya beans, almonds, pistachios, sunflower, etc.

He says one can establish an oil extraction workshop at a reasonable cost. The profit you make in any business depends on many factors. The more modern your equipment, and the higher the quality of the raw materials, the more profit you will make.

Iran’s Top Officer Meets Turkish President Erdogan in Ankara

Baqeri told reports on Wednesday that bilateral defense ties, regional developments and battling terrorism were the key issues discussed during his meeting with Erdogan.

“On military issues, both sides agreed to have mutual cooperation on education and student exchanges as well as holding joint training courses,” Baqeri noted.

He added that it was agreed that both countries would increase information exchange in the field of counter-terrorism.

Baqeri noted that Erdogan would be traveling to Iran in the near future, and that a joint strategic commission would be held between the two countries with the presence of high-ranking officials with the goal of devolving bilateral economic, political, cultural and military ties.

The top Iranian commander also noted that during the meeting, it was agreed that holding an independence referendum by Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region would only increase tensions in Iraq and its neighboring countries.

In June, the leader of Iraq’s semi-autonomous region Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, announced in a Twitter message that the northern territory would hold an independencerIran's Top Officer Meets Turkish President Erdogan in Ankaraeferendum in September not only in the three provinces that make up the Kurdish region but in the areas that are disputed by the Kurdish and the central Iraqi governments.

Following the announcement, the Iraqi government issued a statement saying that it would reject any unilateral move by the regional Kurdish authorities to push for independence.

On Tuesday, Baqeri met with his Turkish counterpart General Hulusi Akar and discussed ways to improve the two countries’ security, particularly in border areas, and continue the fight against terrorism.

It is the first visit by an Iranian chief of staff of the Armed Forces to Turkey.

He was the Netherlands’ coach from 2003 to 2010.

Iran Ready to Host Int’l Event to Mark World Blood Donor Day

blood donation

Given Iran’s growing medical capabilities as well as the recent international achievements in blood donation in the region, the country’s representative in the Eastern Mediterranean Blood and Marrow Transplantation Group has nominated the Islamic Republic to host an event to mark World Blood Donor Day in Tehran in 2019.

Held annually on June 14 since 2004, the gathering serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, and to thank blood donors for their voluntary life-saving gifts, a Farsi report by Salamat News Agency.

World Blood Donor Day is marked every year on the day of birthday anniversary of Karl Landsteiner, a great scientist who won the Nobel Prize for his great discovery of the ABO blood group system, on 14 June 1868.

Backed by international organizations including World Health Organization as well as International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and International Society of Blood Transfusion, the World Blood Donor Day brings a precious opportunity to all blood donors for celebrating the day at national and global levels.

Simultaneous with the main event in a certain country, similar gatherings are organized in different parts of the world attended by representatives of different countries and international organizations to mark the day and exchange experience in blood transfusion.

WHO has set a deadline for each country to reach a certain percent of voluntary blood donation with Iran achieving the goal years ahead of the deadline. This is mainly due to Iran’s respect for human being and the serious attentions it gives to the humanitarian aid.

The index of blood donation in Iran stands at 27 persons in each one thousand people which is relatively a good record. Meanwhile, over 2,100,000 Iranians donate their blood without any expectation for return of their kindness.

Perseids Meteor Shower in Iran Central Deserts (Photos)

During the peak, the rate of meteors reaches 60 or more per hour. They can be seen all across the sky; however, because of the shower’s radiant in the constellation of Perseus, the Perseids are primarily visible in the Northern Hemisphere.

As with many meteor showers the visible rate is greatest in the pre-dawn hours, since more meteoroids are scooped up by the side of the Earth moving forward into the stream, corresponding to local times between midnight and noon, as can be seen in the accompanying diagram.

While many meteors arrive between dawn and noon, they are usually not visible due to daylight. Some can also be seen before midnight, often grazing the Earth’s atmosphere to produce long bright trails and sometimes fireballs. Most Perseids burn up in the atmosphere while at heights above 80 kilometres.

Here are ISNA’s photos of the recent Perseids meteor shower observed in central desert areas of Iran:

Iran Urges US to Be Realistic about Nuclear Deal

“We are not surprised by the repetitive and unrealistic remarks made by this American official [Nauert], and are aware of the intentions and goals behind the repetition of such baseless and groundless claims and accusations raised by various US officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Qassemi said in a Wednesday statement.

“The one who has made these remarks does not seem to be much interested in establishment of peace, stability, and security in the Middle East and the world, and not satisfied with the declining trend of terrorism in Iraq and Syria,” he went on to say.

“We advise the American side to be realistic about Iran’s unique role in fight against terrorism in the Middle East,” Qassemi added.

He further referred to Nauert’s claims about Iran’s violation of the nuclear deal, saying, “It is not difficult to prove the Islamic Republic’s compliance with the spirit and text of the JCPOA, which has been repeatedly confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other parties to the deal.”

“The US State Department spokeswoman’s move to accuse Iran of violating the spirit of the nuclear deal seems to be aimed at deviating the international public opinion from the non-constructive and provocative moves the US has repeatedly made against Iran to prevent it from reaping the full benefits of the nuclear deal,” he added.

Qassemi said the measures and approach adopted by the new US administration over the past months are clearly against the text of the JCPOA, which calls on the parties to show ‘goodwill’ and avoid measures that may prevent the ‘successful implementation’ of the international and multilateral deal.

US Annual Report on Religious Freedom ‘Unrealistic, Baseless’: Iran

Bahram Qassemi

“This report has once again portrayed a distorted and politicized image of religious freedom conditions in the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Qassemi noted in a Wednesday statement.

The report has also raised false accusations against the Islamic Republic, which are undoubtedly unacceptable and rejected, he added.

Qassemi referred to the interpretations of religions and religious beliefs included in this report, and said, “Offering such fabricated and baseless interpretations of religions and religious beliefs will finally lead to exacerbation of interfaith crises and problems and fail to yield any positive results.”

“In order to settle religious differences and getting them [religions] closer to each other, one should strongly avoid politicizing the issue,” he noted, adding that dialogue, respect for each other’s beliefs based on human values, and respect for the followers of all divine religions are the only ways to heal such rifts.

“The US administration seems to have forgotten about this important goal and is only trying to take political advantage of the existing religious diversity in some countries in the world,” he went on to say.

“It is believed that the US does not even have a realistic evaluation of domestic situation in these countries, particularly their demographic and religious conditions,” Qassemi added.

“The great people of Iran are freely practising their religions based on the progressive articles of our Constitution and within the framework of the country’s law,” he noted, adding that Iran’s law safeguards these freedoms.

“In the time of communications and the current intertwined world, one can clearly see that racial and religious discriminations, Islamophobia, and xenophobia are prevalent and common phenomena among American statesmen,” he noted.

“Muslim people in the US are, on a daily basis, falling victim to the violent and discriminatory measures of state bodies like the police and security forces, and are targeted by the Islamophobic propaganda and measures of certain religious bodies and media,” he added.

Qassemi said the insults to religious sanctities and beliefs, lack of freedom for practising one’s religion, and attacks on Muslims’ places of worship have turned into a routine in the US.

“Instead of judging religious freedom conditions in other countries, the US government is expected to immediately take legal and practical actions to support freedom of religion, particularly the rights of Muslim people in the US,” the Iranian spokesman added.

In its latest annual religious freedom report for 2016, the US Statement accused Iran of harassing, interrogating, and arresting members of religious minorities and imposing heavy restrictions on their public and private lives.

Russian DM Visits Iran’s Cultural Pavilion in Moscow

Russian DM Visits Iran’s Cultural Pavilion in Moscow

On Sunday (August 13), Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu paid a visit to Iran’s cultural pavilion in Alabino park in the Russian capital, Moscow, where the Middle eastern country, along with 17 other states, were holding a group exhibition on the sidelines of the International Army Games – 2017.

According to a Farsi report by the Asr-e Iran news website, during this visit, Shoigu was briefed on the items showcased in the pavilion and was presented with a precious paisley fabric in a wooden frame as a sign of Iran’s long-lasting culture and civilization.

Iran’s pavilion has been set up by the cultural office of the Iranian Embassy in the main venue where the International Army Games were being held.

Iranian artefacts as well as books in Russian and English, such as the one titled “Iran, the Cradle of Peaceful Religious Coexistence”, have been showcased in Iran’s pavilion in the exhibition.

Posters featuring photos of the Sacred Defence (eight-year war imposed by Iraq on Iran) and stories of the imposed war as well as accounts of the operations performed by Iranians in that war, were put on display in Russian in Iran’s pavilion.

Among the artefacts on display in the Iranian pavilion were calligraphy works, miniatures, dishes with vitreous enamel coating and marquetry artworks. Iran’s tourist attractions were also presented in the country’s pavilion in the Moscow-based expo.

The 15-day exhibition closed on Monday (August 14).
