Iran Providing Education for All Afghan Refugee Children

Iran Providing Education for All Afghan Refugee Children

Iran has, for years, been hosting over 3 million Afghan immigrants despite the West’s sanctions, and tries to improve the living conditions of these war-stricken refugees.

The E’temad daily newspaper has, in a Farsi report published a few days ago, reviewed the situation of Afghan refugee children’s education in Iran. The report presents the outcome of the measures adopted following an order by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to provide education for all Afghan children in Iran, even illegal immigrants. The following is a summary of the report.

The morning shift is over. Iranian girls are leaving school from the main gate. At the same time, Afghan girls enter the schoolyard from another door. These are afternoon-shift students. They go to a state-run girls’ school in Kan neighbourhood, Tehran.

This year, too, the school is hosting Afghan kids. The school used to admit only those with residence permits. But it is the third year now that children without passports and residence permits also have the opportunity to sit in class.

The increase in the number of Afghan students was so much that now, almost all Afghan children have been separated from Iranian students and the afternoon shift entirely belongs to them.

Opposite the school, there is another school. It is a high school hosting Afghan students. In that school, Iranian and Afghan students sit next to each other in class. Two mothers are waiting for the children at the gate. They say Afghan children are clever students. They say they have no problem to see Afghan children sit next to their kids. One of the mothers is a member of the school’s Parents and Guardians’ Association, and another daughter of hers is a student in the school on the other side of the street.

“My kids have Afghan friends. They happen to be more polite than my kids. They are much better than Iranian kids in terms of scores and discipline. They go to school with difficulty and study hard,” says the mother.

The report also mentioned some of the problems that Iranians have due to the presence of Afghan refugees.

“This year, the afternoon-shift classes became full and we had to send seven of the Afghan kids to the morning shift,” says a vice-principal of the school. However, she says, the Iranian students got upset and said Afghan students were not supposed to attend morning classes.

Since the Leader issued an order obliging public schools to admit Afghan students, regardless of whether or not they have residence permits, the school has become very busy.

“I want to teach Afghans how to read and write [when I grow up], so that many of Taliban and ISIS members will come to realize they shouldn’t cause destruction in cities,” says one of the students during the break.

Part of Afghanistan’s future is taking shape amid wishes and plans of the girls attending afternoon-shift classes in this school.

German Girl Recruited by ISIS Explains How She Joined Terrorists

German Girl Recruited by ISIS

There were a lot of stories about Linda Wenzel who was dragged from the rubble in Mosul as Iraqi forces liberated the city in July. She was 16 years old when she joined ISIS, and now for the first time in an interview with the Iraqi magazine Al-Qadha, which belongs to the country’s judiciary, she has recounted her story of joining ISIS.

The magazine, in an interview titled ‘The German Angel of ISIS,’ published the details of Linda Wenzel’s trip from Germany to join ISIS.

According to a Farsi report by Asr-e Iran, Linda, who appeared in an Iraqi court a few days ago, said that she first got acquainted with a Jordanian girl named Fatima.

After becoming friend with Linda, Fatima invited her to Islam, and then she introduced Linda to a preacher called Abu Khaled, who was the Imam of a mosque in Pulsnitz, eastern Germany.

This preacher told Linda that he could not visit her so much as he is a man and Linda is a girl and this is not allowed in Islam. But the preacher gave a few books about Islam in the German language to Linda as gift.

Linda said later it became clear that the preacher did not want to meet her because he was under the control of German security police. During this period, Fatima invited Linda to Islamic forums and conferences held by the extremists in Germany.

Linda is now 17 years old. Appearing in court with hijab she told the judge that she is deeply regretful and would like to return to her country.

She further added that in these Islamists’ associations she got familiar with a man known as Abu Usama al-Shishani. Abu Usama convinced Linda to travel to the land of the Islamic Caliphate to marry him.

Linda added that the change in her behaviour led her school authorities to send a message to her mother and inform her about the suspicious changes in the behaviour of her daughter. Linda’s mother beat her when she got aware of the changes in her behaviour. The mother’s behavior and changes in the girl’s behaviour spoiled their relationship; a relationship that was not very good from the very beginning.

Getting Married on the Phone

After Linda’s relationship with her family soured, she informed Abu Usama of the story. Abu Usama gave her instructions and urged Linda to travel to Turkey to marry him.

As Linda was underage, she needed her mother’s consent to travel, so she forged her mother’s signature in the form and traveled to Turkey to meet with the groom, Abu Usama. When Linda arrived in Turkey, Abu Usama informed her that he had traveled to Syria for a special mission. Therefore, he read the sermon of the marriage (Khutba) on the phone and Linda formally became the wife of Abu Usama.

Abu Usama, who was now Linda’s husband, ordered her to go to the border areas of Syria until his Chechen friends transfer her to Syria.

Linda says after three hours of walking along the Turkish-Syrian border she finally met with Abu Usama.

Moving from Syria to Mosul

The ISIS’s bride said she met Abu Usama near a large house in Syria that she did not exactly know its location. She added that they stayed one day there, and then along with other married women and their children were transferred to Mosul.

In Mosul, Linda first stayed in a large military camp for three months and then along with his husband, Abu Usama, was transferred to their private home in Mosul.

She says she was alone in Mosul, and just once a day she was met by a woman from the ISIS’s administrative board who was responsible for distributing food.

Abu Usama Killed; Linda Stays in Mosul

Linda confessed in the interview that she was just three months with Abu Usama and then she was told her husband had been killed. The German girl explained while the Iraqi forces were approaching Mosul, she decided to return to her home country after the death of Abu Usama, but the ISIS group prevented her and all those who were in Mosul from leaving the city.

She said in this interview that ISIS gave her $200 to compensate for her husband’s death adding that after the siege of Mosul by Iraqi forces, ISIS holed up all the women in a hospital, but with the liberation of the city, she saw herself in the custody of the Iraqi anti-terror forces. Linda is now being tried in an Iraqi court.

Iran Pursuing Regional Policies Regardless of Others’ Rhetoric: FM

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was asked about Iran’s possible reaction to the US president’s anti-Iran strategy, which is due to be declared in coming days.

Iran pursues its regional policies independent of others’ rhetoric, he said.

However, he added, we will give an appropriate response to Trump once he makes his remarks.

“The fact is that our region has long been suffering from Washington’s wrong policies,” Zarif noted.

“Iran is now the cylinder of stability and fight against terrorism and Takfirism, and pursues its policies within the same framework.”

“The realities of the Middle East are gradually becoming clear to other countries in the world as well,” he added.

“Mr Trump and his friends, who seek to sell more weapons to the region, have pursued certain policies within this framework, but these policies have had no result but inflicting harms to themselves, the US, and the region.”

Iran Showcases Capabilities in Project Management Info Systems at GITEX 2017

gitex

Mr. Hassani

Dorsa Resaneh Hooshamnd, one of the active Iranian companies in the field of Project Management Information Systems (PMIS), is going to represent Iranian companies at GITEX 2017.

What follows are excerpts from an interview with the CEO of Dorsa Resaneh Hooshmand company, Mr. Hassani:

Would you please introduce Dorsa Company?

Dorsa started its activities in 2002. From the very beginning, it focused on information management systems in the field of energy, oil and gas. In the following years, almost all major oil, gas and petrochemical projects in Iran were managed by the Dorsa system. And now we’re proud to control almost all of the country’s projects.

Due to this level of scientific and practical progress, will you export these systems to other countries?

Before the sanctions in 2005, we succeeded in exporting the system to France and the UK. Unfortunately, after imposing sanctions, we had to stop the work and deliver the project to our representative in the UK. After the nuclear deal, we have been doing our best to re-enter to the international market. This time our software is much more professional than before. The standards that we have achieved over time are adapted to the international standards and now we have a say in the international markets. We can even be a big rival for companies that are active in this field.

What is Dorsa’s most important product and achievement?

Dorsa’s most important product in these years was Dorsa Project Management Information System. I can say the only product of the company, was an information system or a comprehensive software system containing 17 integrated sub-systems. It covers all parts of an oil, gas, and petrochemical project or the large projects that have been recently used in Iran. We feel proud that this system is approved by most Iranian oil employers. The representatives of companies such as the SAP who came to Iran were surprised to see this system.

How do you assess your presence at GITEX 2017?

GITEX is an important exhibition in the Persian Gulf region and the most important information technology exhibition in the Mideast. In the years before, we just attended the exhibition, but this year we are having a stand to present our products at GITEX.

Which countries would be Dorsa’s rivals in this field?

There is no rival in the Middle East to compete with us. Most companies that offer similar software systems are Canadian, American, and English. Next to a French company, they are providing similar products, but due to the sanctions they have not been able to be active inside Iran. However, they are working in some Arab countries of the region, and have offices in the UAE. Yet, our focus is on energy, mining and metals.

What is your idea about the future of IT in Iran?

There are very talented companies and specialists in Iran, but we have forgotten the strategies of working with the world after years of being away from them (due to the sanction). There is a very high potentiality that may be better for us to use it rather than giving the chance to the other countries. God willing, by the government’s plans and the policies that have been made in this area next to the new horizons appearing, we hope to hear the name of Iranian companies across the world. I think we will definitely be successful in this regard.

Taliban Calls ISIS “Crusader”, Affiliate of United States

taliban

The Taliban insurgents called on its commanders in western Afghanistan to fight against ISIS terrorists in this country and eliminate them.

According to a Farsi report by the Tasnim News Agency, in this statement the Taliban has asked its commanders in the cities of Kushk-e Kuhnah, Kushk-e Rabat-e-Sangi, Golran and several other regions of western Herat province to wipe out ISIS terrorists in western Afghanistan.

According to the statement, any compromise and interaction with the ISIS, especially in Ghor, Farah, Badghis, Herat and Nimruz provinces, will result in heavy punishment and prosecution.

In Taliban’s statement, which was published by Jomhor News, it has been emphasized for three times that the commanders of the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ must fight ISIS.

The Taliban has insisted that ISIS does not adhere to any of the Islamic laws, including the Sunnah and culture of Muslims, and that it has spread barbarism in the country.

The Taliban Leadership Council in West Afghanistan stressed that the ISIS terrorist group has insulted Muslims and is killing them.

The statement also reads that ISIS-affiliated groups have killed a large number of the Taliban members in the last few years, so any negotiation, compromise, and interaction with them is considered as an insult to those who have lost their lives.

The Taliban reiterated that ISIS is a US-backed group and fighting against it is a jihad. About three months ago, the Taliban announced that it had arrested and executed a number of senior ISIS commanders in western Afghanistan.

According to a statement, senior ISIS leader ‘Aqa Jalil’ along with four other senior ISIS members, were killed.

The Taliban had announced that this ISIS senior commander, along with his aide ‘Tohidi’, were executed in the western parts of the country.

Last week, local authorities in Ghor province, in central Afghanistan, reported that ISIS terrorists have left the province.

Police chief of Ghor, General Ghulam Mustafa Mohseni said the members of the ISIS terrorist group have left the province after suffering heavy defeat in fight with the Taliban forces.

“Tillerson’s New Plan Aimed at Depriving Iran of JCPOA Benefits”

Rex Tillerson-US Double Standards towards “Inhumane” Sanctions

Iranian parliamentarian Mohammad-Javad Jamali Nobandegani blasted the new plan put forward by Tillerson, saying that it aims to maintain the Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of action (JCPOA), and at the same time adopt tighter measures vis-à-vis Iran.

“Such decisions show the United States’ failure to put in place a well-organized diplomacy because at a certain time they announce they will stay in the JCPOA, and at another time say they will tear it up,” said the MP, according to a Farsi report by ICANA.

He said one of Washington’s policies against Iran has been to deprive the country of the benefits of the JCPOA.

“Iran has always made good on its commitments under the JCPOA, but they (US authorities) haven’t done anything in that regard, and seek to dampen the positive effects of the nuclear deal,” the lawmaker said.

He said the US uses topics such as the Middle East security, Iran’s alleged support for terrorism, the country’s missile industry, etc. as pretexts, saying, “It should be acknowledged that everybody knows that the Takfiri ISIS terrorist group was created and is supported by the US.”

The legislator underlined that the Americans seek to disintegrate and create insecurity in the Middle East.

“This comes as Iran has always contributed to regional peace and stability and has even offered advisory assistance to countries such as Syria and Iraq at their own request and has helped safeguard the territorial integrity and security of those countries,” The MP said.

He said history has not forgotten that it was the United States, not Iran, that used atomic bombs.

“By seeking pretexts, the Americans want to reduce the international community’s negative reactions against themselves and decrease any further political-social costs of taking more actions against our country,” Nobandegani added.

Mojtaba Zonouri, another Iranian MP, said withdrawal from the JCPOA will have costs for the US in the international community, so Tillerson’s new plan is a strategy to prevent this and to take Europeans on board with taking hostile actions against Iran.

Lawmaker Jalal Mirzaee also underlined that the new plan presented by Tillerson and the US Congress aims to set the stage for taking Europe on board with adopting hostile actions against Tehran over issues not related to the JCPOA.

Iran at GITEX 2017: Latest Software Achievements on Display

GITEX

TalebiExplaining the activities of Vesta and its participation in GITEX 2017, the CEO of the company said, “Vesta Information Technology Company was launched in 2007 to develop a technology to improve the level of human well-being. Vesta began its activities to focus on designing and developing software.”

Talebi added that by utilizing their experience and the ability of a highly-motivated, dedicated and professional team of experts, the company succeeded in achieving its goals.

“We introduced ourselves as one of the leading technology companies in the field of IT and succeeded in providing services and products tailored to the needs of the customers. In 2016, we signed a contract with a foreign country to carry out e-learning in the healthcare sector of Iran. By sealing this contract, we further believed in our abilities, and it made us look at the international market.”

According to Talebi, Vesta’s products are as follows:

  • Electronic Learning Management System: Organizing Training Courses Electronically
  • Contents of Electronic Courses: Appropriate E-contents for Organizations and Universities
  • Digital Library System: Management of Traditional and Digital Library Affairs

Talebi also underlined that it is the first time Vesta will be present at the GITEX, saying that the main reason for the presence of Vesta at GITEX is to consult with other foreign partners on how to create collaborative partnerships.

“Currently, our target markets are Middle-Eastern countries and neighbours of Iran. The Iranian companies active in the field of information and communications technology are not doing well compared to their counterparts abroad. As the economy of Iran used to be state-oriented in previous years, unfortunately, most companies preferred to produce a product or service and then sell it to government agencies and institutions. As a result, when the government does not have funds, companies will not have a customer!”

The CEO of Vesta further mentioned that there are companies operating in the B2C domains who have achieved success, but the number of these companies are less than those active in the B2B field.

“ICT analysts predict a good perspective for this sphere in Iran, but in order to achieve this, reforms must be made,” highlighted Talebi.

Finally, he concluded that the Iranian market, with a population of 80 million and a majority of young and educated people, has a great potentiality for production and even consumption. But it is important to know where we are capable of making products and where we’d better be a mere consumer.
