“Iran Ready to Counter US’ Non-Compliance with Nuclear Deal”

Qassemi said if Washington keeps breaking its pledges, Iran has considered possible scenarios to counter the move.

In a Farsi interview with the IRIB News Agency, the Iranian spokesman described the process of reviewing the nuclear deal by the US Congress a domestic issue, saying, “What matters to us is the commitment of the US government to fulfilling its obligations on time.”

Washington must stop breaking its pledges, Qassemi added.

“We are following up this issue and what matters is the fulfilment of the obligations of the US. What the Islamic Republic of Iran, the European Union and other countries around the world, and in particular other parties to the nuclear deal, expect the US to do is to meet its commitments under the nuclear accord.”

Qassemi went on to say that this issue is being reviewed by the supervising board monitoring implementation of Iran nuclear deal, and the necessary plans and scenarios have been considered, which will be openly presented at the appropriate time to take steps in case of any misconduct by the US.

His remarks came as the 10th meeting of Iran nuclear deal joint commission is scheduled to be held in Austria’s capital, Vienna, on Wednesday.

The eighth and ninth meetings of the Joint Commission were held on July 21 and September 20, respectively.

The ninth meeting was held at the ministerial level in the US city of New York.

Under the terms of the 2015 nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the commission is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the nuclear deal.

Turkey President Calls Israel “State of Terror, Occupation”

Leaders of the Muslim world, including Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, are attending the OIC summit in Istanbul, looking to rally for a coordinated response to the US move on Jerusalem al-Quds.

“Israel is a state of occupation. Besides this, Israel is a state of terror,” Erdogan told leaders from the OIC gathered for an emergency meeting in Istanbul, according to media reports.

The Turkish president urged the world to recognise occupied East Jerusalem as the “capital of Palestine” in response to the recognition of the city by US President Donald Trump as Israel’s capital.

“I am inviting the countries who value international law and fairness to recognise occupied Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine,” Erdogan said, adding that Muslim countries would “never give up” on this demand.

‘Flagrant Violation of International Law’

Turkey President Calls Israel “State of Terror, Occupation”Palestinian President Mahmood Abbas in his address called the decision of US President Donald Trump a ‘flagrant violation of international law’.

According to the Palestinian President, the decision of Trump could be used by extremists to ‘turn a political struggle into a religious one.”

Abbas warned that there could be “no peace or stability” in the Middle East until Jerusalem al-Quds is recognised as the capital of a Palestinian state.

No Reason for US Presence in Mideast: Iran Leader’s Aide

Ali-Akbar Velayti, an international advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, says the United States’ key cronies to trigger tension in the Middle East region are gone.

“The Americans, like it or not, should leave the region, too. There is no reason for the US to be present in this region. This region belongs to its people,” said Velayati in an interview with the Persian-language Tasnim News Agency.

He said those who are supposed to be present in West Asia either must be from that region or must be invited by the legitimate governments of countries in the region.

“Iran is present in Iraq and Syria with an advisory role at the request of the governments of those countries,” he said.

He said the Americans are not invited to the region and that they are seeking domination through force and hegemony.

“The US currently seeks to reignite chaos both in Syria and Iraq, especially in Raqqa,” he said.

“Definitely, the Syrian government and people together with the resistance front will drive the Americans away from the areas they have occupied in Syria with humiliation,” Velayati noted.

The top official also touched upon US President Donald Trump’s decision to relocate the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds.

“Trump’s move has sent a spark to the powder keg of sentiments and religious beliefs of the Muslim world,” said Velayati.

“No move could have been worse than what the US president did. The previous [US] president didn’t dare relocate Israel’s capital to al-Quds. Such a move needed someone whose decisions are not that wise, and Trump did it,” said Velayati.

He said it is right that Jerusalem al-Quds has been desecrated, and that the Americans want to relocate their embassy to that city, but they should know that, from now on, Muslims, especially Palestinians and their supporters, will not allow Zionists and their American backers to get away with it.

It has to be mentioned that at the closing ceremony of Montreal Independent Film Awards, in which “Kupal” was screened, the short film “The Man Who Forgot to Breathe” by Saman Hosseinpour received the Grand Prix narrative Short.

The 3rd Montreal Independent Film Awards was held December 8-10 in Montreal, Canada.

Iran President Congratulates Turkmenistan on Day of Neutrality

In his congratulatory message to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on Tuesday, Rouhani said, “It is gratifying that December 12 has been adopted by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Neutrality Day on Turkmenistan’s initiative.”

The Iranian president underlined that the development of friendly, comprehensive relations with Ashgabat is of particular importance to Tehran.

“We are happy that Turkmenistan is still taking serious, practical steps within the framework of neutrality policy in order to consolidate peace, stability and development in the region,” he noted, adding that the continuation of this policy is due to the Turkmen president’s far-sightedness.

Rouhani also wished health and success for Berdimuhamedow and prosperity and felicity for the people of Turkmenistan.

December 12, 1995 was adopted by the UNGA Resolution number 50/80, which expressed the hope that “the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan will contribute to peace and security in the region.”

In the resolution, the United Nations “recognizes and supports the declared status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.” The resolution calls on UN to respect and maintain the neutrality of Turkmenistan.

In Neutrality Day across the Central Asian republic are mass festivities and holiday concerts.

Mat-Weaving; Traditional Occupation in Southeast Iran

The reeds in Lake Hamun once used to be the material of mat-weaving for the people of this land. However, due to the drought in recent years, people provide the reeds from the northern provinces of the country.

Mat-weaving as one of the main handicrafts of Sistan and Baluchestan plays a decisive role for the families to make a living. Sistan and Baluchestan’s mats are used as insect screens at the entrance of the houses while some others decorate the exterior windows of the buildings.

Jerusalem al-Quds Belongs to All Muslims around World: Iran

“The situation we are experiencing today is very important, because Jerusalem al-Quds is a holy city for Muslims as well as Christians and Jews,” Rouhani said on Tuesday.

He made the remarks before leaving Tehran for Istanbul, Turkey, to attend an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Donald Trump’s Jerusalem al-Quds decision.

He further mentioned that the party which is a stranger on the Palestinian land is the Zionist regime because Muslims, Jews and Christians have lived together for centuries in Palestine.

“The wrong decision of the US president to relocate the US embassy to Jerusalem al-Quds was a rude decision as Quds does not only belong to a nation or a geographic region. It is respected by all Muslims in the world and the al-Aqsa mosque is the first kiblah of Muslims,” underlined Rouhani.

Iranian president also noted that today Jerusalem al-Quds is the third holiest place for Muslims in the world, and if Muslims were silent in face of such an illegal decision, they (the US and the Zionists) would have conspired for more sinister plans later on.

“The global arrogance and the Zionists want to test how the Muslim world reacts. As you see, from the very moment that this wrong and illegal decision was announced, people in the Muslim world rose to show their anger. From the easternmost parts of Indonesia, to the westernmost regions of Morocco, all Muslims stood up against the move and condemned the act.”

Rouhani further emphasized that the Muslim world is resisting against the “wrong” US decision on Jerusalem al-Quds and warned of new tensions and the dire consequences that Trump’s decision would have for the Middle East.

Iran’s president also added that if Islamic countries maintain their unity, it will be a big victory for Muslims and the region.

“Our message is that the Palestinian cause is the most important issue for the Muslim world. They must condemn this move in all international bodies, particularly the United Nations.”

“Over the years, the United States has turned Palestine into the second issue of the region because of the terrorism that it has expanded in the region. Washington was assuming the issue of Palestine is forgotten; therefore they occupied the land of Palestine for seventy years,” added the Iranian president.

He went on to say that although Trump’s decision was a menacing one, it led to a positive move in the history of Islam, and all Muslims in the world shouted at once saying that the Palestinian issue is the first issue of the Muslim world.

On December 6, Trump sparked international outrage by declaring that Washington was recognizing Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel and that he had instructed his administration to begin the process of moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the ancient city.

The announcement prompted harsh international warnings that it would bring more chaos to the Middle East region. Several protests have been held in many countries over the past days against the US and the Israeli regime.

Remains of Medieval Warrior with Arrow in Chest Found in Bulgaria

Remains of Medieval Warrior with Arrow in Chest Found in Bulgaria

The amazing grave site was discovered during a dig in the 7,000-year-old city of Plovdiv, the oldest town in Europe.

The human bones are said to date from the 11th to 12th centuries.

The newly-discovered grave was found at the spot of a known medieval necropolis which was first discovered several decades ago.

A team of scientists from the Plovdiv Museum of Archaeology excavating the spot said the latest discovery is exciting not only because it was made right underneath the modern-day surface but because an arrow has been found at the chest of the buried person.

They believe the person was either killed by the arrow, or it was placed in their grave as a funeral gift for the afterlife.

In the latter case the person, whose gender has not been established for sure yet, would have been a warrior.

“Early on, in the uppermost layers, we have discovered lots of pottery and a burial, a medieval one,” lead archaeologist Maya Martinova has explained.”

“We found it yesterday,” she was quoted as saying by Daily Star.

“It is interesting that we have found an arrow at the chest [of the buried person].

Remains of Medieval Warrior with Arrow in Chest Found in Bulgaria“The burial dates to the 11th-12th century.”

Martinova said it is possible that the person in question was killed by the discovered arrow.

“Yet, there is also a custom of placing arrows [in graves] as burial gifts when the person in question is a warrior,” the researcher cautioned.

“We cannot say for sure yet which one it is – whether they were killed by the arrow or whether it was put in the grave – because the bones are not properly arranged,” she added.

“We may stumble upon surprises in every single layer going down from here. Actually, this [place] is a necropolis which was registered decades ago during the research of the entire [archaeological] complex… We have now found one more grave from that period.”

Plovdiv is said to be one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in Europe.

Researchers from the Plovdiv Medical University have joined the archaeological team to find out whether the burial person was killed by the arrow found in their chest.

Their anthropological study is also supposed to establish the medieval person’s gender, age, and other details.

The remarkable find was discovered at start of rescue excavations at the Antiquity Odeon, an ancient performance facility.

UN Does Not Confirm Saudi Claims about Iran’s Link to Yemen Missiles

The missiles were fired by Yemeni Houthi fighters at the Saudi capital on July 22 and November 4 in retaliation for Riyadh’s deadly raids against the country.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a confidential report obtained by AFP on Monday that the world body’s team, which visited Riyadh last month to scrutinize the alleged evidence, had not yet established a link between them and the Islamic Republic.

Saudi Arabia, which accuses Iran of arming Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement against the kingdom, claims the missiles, which it says were fired at its capital city, had been supplied to Yemeni forces by Iran.

Following the first missile launch, Riyadh also angered the international community and human rights groups by tightening the already crippling siege against Yemen.

Tehran has invariably dismissed having ever armed the movement and any accusation of regional interference for that matter.

On Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said, “Whatever happens inside Yemen concerns the Yemeni people and resistance and does not concern the Islamic Republic.”

The Houthis have been defending Yemen against a Saudi-led military offensive, which seeks to restore the former Riyadh-allied government. The war has killed some 12,000 people and reduced the country’s infrastructure to smithereens since its start in early 2015.

Guterres wrote that UN officials were “still analyzing the information collected and will report back to the [UN] Security Council.”

The investigators also examined two drones allegedly recovered in Yemen, but did not confirm a Saudi claim that one of them was “Iranian-made.”
