Iran Starts Exporting Two Nano Pharmaceuticals

Iran Exports 20% of Domestically-Produced Nano-Products

“Sina Curcumin”, which is taken from turmeric based on nanotechnology, has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-tumor effects.

According to ISNA, it has now been distributed to drugstores in the country, and the registration process for the export of this drug is ongoing.

The target markets for this medicine are countries like Iraq, Syria and Oman, and talks are underway to export it to Pakistan too. The drug has also been exported to China.

In addition, the drug “Sina Ampholish”, which is the main substance of Amphotericin B, is used to treat topical sore or Leishmaniasis.

“Glucantime” is normally used to treat this disease, but as it must be injected, it has not been accepted by the patients. However, Sina Ampholish Gel has fixed this problem. This medicine is exported to Afghanistan. Tropical Sore is prevalent in tropical regions and is caused due to the bite of a mosquito called Leishmania.

The production of “Sina Doxosome” for the treatment of breast and ovarian cancer is another core achievement of the company. It also can be prescribed in the first stage of sarcoma. Export of this medicine is also on the agenda.

Iran Downs US’ Spy Drone in Persian Gulf: Report

The US Global Hawk (RQ-4) drone was shot down on Thursday morning in an area close to Kuhmobarak village in Iran’s Hormozgan province, near the Persian Gulf waters, Sepah News Agency reported.

The drone had reportedly trespassed into the Iranian territory when it was shot down.

The shoot-down of the spy drone was later confirmed by the IRGC Public Relations Department.

Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), said on the sidelines of a security summit in Moscow on Wednesday that for Iran its airspace was the “red line.”

“We have repeated time and again that we will use all in our power to defend the maritime and aerial borders of our homeland,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter which country’s aircraft have breached it,” he said. “We will always give the intruders a crushing response.”

Iran must file legal action at UN

Meanwhile, Chairman of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh said Tehran must file legal action at the United Nations against the US for violating its airspace.

The lawmaker said flying the spy drone over Iran was an extension of America’s recent moves in sending warships to the region in the form of an apparent “war posture.”

US says drone was downed in international airspace

An unnamed American military official confirmed to the media that a US drone had been indeed targeted near Iran but claimed that the unmanned aircraft never entered Iranian airspace.

Locas Tomlinson, a Fox News correspondent, also quoted an American official as saying that the MQ-4C Triton drone (a slightly modified Global Hawk variant) was downed by an Iranian surface-to-air missile in the “international airspace” over the Strait of Hormuz.

Macron’s Adviser in Iran for Talks on Regional Tensions

The senior French diplomat, Emmanuel Bonne, has traveled to the Islamic Republic on Wednesday.

“The diplomatic adviser did indeed travel to Iran on June 19…to hold high-level talks with the objective of contributing to a de-escalation of tensions in the region,” a French presidency official said, confirming information from two diplomatic sources.

Bonne has been based in Iran in the past, and is a Middle East expert, Reuters reported.

The visit follows reports that Britain, France and Germany are planning a new push to keep Iran in the 2015 nuclear deal.

Diplomats said the three EU parties to the JCPOA would intensify diplomacy in the coming days, including with talks among the E3 and EU political directors in Brussels on Thursday.

In comments on Wednesday morning, the president of Iran said Tehran’s legitimate decision to scale back commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal could be reversed, provided that the other parties fulfill their undertakings and meet a 60-day deadline that started on May 8.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, US, Britain, France, and Germany) on July 14, 2015, reached a conclusion over the text of the 2015 nuclear deal.

The accord took effect in January 2016 and was supposed to terminate all nuclear-related sanctions against Iran all at once, but its implementation was hampered by the US policies and its eventual withdrawal from the deal.

On May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump pulled the US out of the nuclear accord. Afterwards, Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the accord.

However, the EU’s failure to ensure Iran’s economic interests forced Tehran to stop honoring certain commitments under JCPOA in May 2019.

For the first step, Iran has ceased to observe the limits on uranium enrichment and begun to produce an unlimited amount of heavy water at the Arak nuclear facility during the 60-day deadline.

Oil Ministry Embezzler Arrested before Fleeing Iran: Report

The Oil Ministry official has been arrested on Wednesday morning before escaping from the country.

A report by Tasnim claims he was the chief financial officer of the ministry, and had withdrawn $25 million from the Oil Ministry’s account and had wired the money to the account of a foreign currency exchange dealer.

Being mindful of their crime, the administrative official and the dealer had plans to transfer the large sum to a foreign country.

Both culprits have been taken into custody and the bank account used for the embezzlement has been blocked.

Later on Wednesday night, the Oil Ministry dismissed the report, saying there is no such position as “chief financial officer” at the oil ministry.

Iran Urges Pakistani Push for Release of Hostages

In a meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior Ijaz Ahmed Shah on Wednesday, Hossein Zolfaqari called on the Islamabad government to pursue efforts to secure the release of the three Iranians held hostage by the so-called Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group, based in Pakistan.

The notorious Jaish-ul-Adl terrorists infiltrated into Iran from the Pakistani side of the border on October 15, 2018, and took hostage 14 Iranian border guards, local Basij forces, and IRGC members. All but three of them have been repatriated.

In the meeting with the Pakistani minister, Zolfaqari also stressed the need to accelerate the process of fencing the common border under a previous agreement.

The Iranian official then pointed to the ample opportunities for cooperation between the two neighbours, saying Tehran and Islamabad can work on the development of border markets, enhancement of trade ties, the security issues, and the problem of illegal migration.

He also highlighted the benefits of border markets, saying they would positively impact the livelihood of residents of border areas.

Iran’s policy in the post-sanctions era has been to expand relations with the peaceful neighbours, Zolfaqari added, noting that Iraq, Turkey and the Republic of Azerbaijan have expressed readiness to work with Iran regardless of the sanctions.

Iran’s Judiciary Chief: Several Judges Disbarred

The top Iranian judge said on Wednesday that he has dismissed a number of judges from their post in the recent months.

Raeisi noted that he has attended a couple of Supreme Court sessions that were hearing cases on the competence of the judges to stay abreast of the developments in person.

He also noted that the Judiciary might not go public on every case of punishment, but it definitely takes firm action.

Raeisi said his predecessor, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani, was also sensitive about corruption in the Judiciary, IRNA reported.

In a letter released on Saturday, Hojatoleslam Raeisi highlighted the role of public opinion in improving the efficiency of bureaucratic systems given an easier public access to the means of communication and the virtual space.

He has called on the public to make comments on the Judiciary’s performance and provide feedback on the legal processes for building a “popular, revolutionary and anti-corruption Judiciary.”

Purchase of Iran’s Oil Not Guaranteed by Europe: Minister

New Sanctions Result of US Failure to Zero Out Iran's Oil Exports

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a weekly cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Zanganeh said the European governments argue that the main customers of Iranian oil are the European non-governmental firms, not them themselves.

“According to the Europeans, these firms have economic exchanges with the US. This means that their governments are not in a position to guarantee the purchase of Iran’s oil,” he added.

Touching on the Peace Pipeline project, the minister said Iran has announced the conclusion of an MoU with Gazprom more than two years ago, and the onus is on the Russian company to convince India and Pakistan to get involved in the project. “But so far, this has not been achieved.”

Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, also known as the Peace pipeline, is a 2,775-kilometre pipeline designed to deliver natural gas from Iran to Pakistan. It is still under construction.

Zanganeh also dismissed as baseless the reports alleging that he has branded the oil customers spies.

“I never said that our customers are spy. I only said that some of those coming to us to purchase oil seek to gain information about our oil sales, as we are fully aware of their intentions,” he said.

The minister also pointed to a recent visit to Iran by Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, saying the Leader’s stances expressed in the meeting with Abe were wise and strong.

Asked about Iran’s basic strategy to deal with the sanctions, Zanganeh described the increased export of oil and non-oil goods as the best way to overcome the sanctions, adding, “So far, we have been seeking to implement the same strategy.”

‘Only 4 People Have Access to List of Candidates for Iran’s Leadership’

Mohsen Heidari said the three-member special committee has already devised a list of the possible candidates for the leadership post.
“The committee looks for people who are qualified enough for the leadership post,” he was quoted as saying in a report by IRNA.

According to Heidari, these people and their stances as well as behaviors are monitored closely by the committee.

“Even the chairperson of the Assembly of Experts is not briefed on the list. The only exception is the Leader himself,” he noted.

Earlier, Mohsen Araki, another member of the Assembly of Experts, said a special committee has been charged with providing a list of the whole qualified candidates for the leadership post.

“The list is completely confidential, and given the previous unsuccessful experience of publicly announcing the name of the successor of Iran’s leader during the tenure of late Imam Khomeini -the Founder of the Islamic Republic- this time we have decided to keep the list confidential; Apart from the three members of the committee, the only person allowed to see the list is the Leader of the Islamic Revolution,” Fars news agency quoted him as saying.

The Assembly of Experts is a deliberative body empowered to designate or dismiss the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. The Assembly consists of 88 Mujtahids that are elected from lists of thoroughly vetted candidates by direct public vote for eight-year terms.

Iran to Facilitate Foreign Tourists’ Visit upon President’s Order

Ali Rabiei said on Wednesday that based on the decree, the passports of foreign tourists will not be stamped upon their arrival in any of the country’s airports.

Rabiei, who was speaking on the sidelines of the government’s weekly session, underlined that “as the United States may put pressure and impose sanctions on these people according to the economic terrorist plans it pursues, the president ordered that the tourists’ visits are not registered in their passports.”

The government spokesman said this could bring more tourists to Iran, and people can travel to Iran without any fear. Rabiei underlined that the arrangements would soon be made at all airports.

In recent months, Iranian officials have increased efforts to boost the tourism sector to increase foreign currency revenues and create jobs.

The decline in the national currency’s value last year has meant that travelling to and shopping in Iran has become even cheaper for foreign nationals.
