Iran Ready to Implement Development Projects in Algeria

Mohammad Eslami said Iran’s cooperation with Algeria in the political, parliamentary, economic, scientific and cultural fields will be strengthened at the highest level.

Eslami, who is also the head of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation of Iran and Algeria, attended the sixty-fifth anniversary of Algeria’s independence and congratulated the Algerian people on the day of liberation from colonial rule.

Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development also put stress on the deep bond between Iran and Algeria, saying that the Islamic Revolution of Iran and the Algerian Revolution have both conveyed to the world a message of peace and friendship and adherence to human rights values as well as respect for the independence of world countries.

“These two revolutions proved to the world and the hegemonic and arrogant powers that the international peace and stability depends on the protection of human dignity and respect for the independence and sovereignty of lands.”

Eslami also touched upon the development of Iran’s cooperation with Algeria in the highest levels of political, parliamentary, economic, scientific and cultural relations and announced Tehran’s readiness to expand ties with the African country.

He maintained that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide the friendly country of Algeria with its experience of modern technologies by carrying out development projects in Algeria and assist the country to gain prosperity and growth.

At the same time, he thanked the Algerian envoy to Tehran for his efforts in strengthening political and parliamentary cooperation, and facilitating the presence of businessmen of both countries in the commercial and economic spheres.

“We do hope that with the efforts made by the two countries’ ambassadors the third meeting of the Joint Committee of Iran and Algeria will be held soon,” he noted.

Iran Reveals Details of $5 Billion Loan from Russia

Reza Ardakanian said on Wednesday the loan will be paid according to an agreement made in 2016 to receive a $5 billion loan from Moscow.

“In that year, the parliament allowed the government to get up to $5 billion in low-interest loan from Russia. The $2.2 billion loan was used with the agreement of the Russian government to operate Incheboroun-Garmsar electric railway and build a 2-megawatt power plant in Hormozgan Province,” added the minister.

Ardakanian also announced that the remaining $2.8 billion would be used to implement four other projects.

“Zahedan-Birjand Railway, Gotvand Olya Hydroelectric Power Plant with capacity of 640 MW as well as reconstruction of Ahwaz Ramin Power Plant and increase of its capacity to 160 MW are among these projects.”

He also announced a fourth plan to provide more than 1,000 metro wagons to metropolises.

According to the minister of energy, negotiations are under way in the coming weeks to turn the deal into a contract.

Ardakanian further announced that the Secretary-General of Eurasian Economic Union will arrive in Tehran next week along with the ministers of the secretariat.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said the meeting of the Joint Economic Commission with Tajikistan would be held after several years of interruption with the presence of the Tajikistan’s Minister of Water and Energy and its representatives in Tehran.

Now the wrestling lovers have to wait and see when the new date will be set.

Iranian Women’s Growth Can Be Model for All: VP

Iranian Women’s Growth Can Be Model for All: VP

Masoumeh Ebtekar added that the Iranian women’s growth model can be used by other women in dealing with problems.

The victory outlined the status of women following the Beijing Declaration, especially in Asia during the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in Thailand.

“Since attending the Third World Conference on Women in Nairobi in 1985 and ten years later in Beijing, we have witnessed the development of the status of women in the world and in Asia in the past 34 years,” she reiterated, saying “this was achieved by women themselves, civil society and governments. I particularly talk about the advancement of women in Asia, including in my country, Iran.”

At the same time, armed and internal conflicts and foreign interventions have significantly damaged the most deprived communities, and the suburban life has changed the face of Asia, maintained Ebtekar.

“Climate change and environmental degradation have also had a negative impact on the region’s natural assets.”

If democratic processes and economic growth, especially in West Asia, are achieved, we can tackle insecurity, unilateralism, war and terrorism, she said.

“To this end, we need to work together to stop negative trends.”

Referring to the efforts made to improve the status of women and girls after the Islamic Revolution in Iran, she said, “In the past four decades, women have witnessed climaxes in their quest for progress in their lives. However, like other societies, they may face problems that we strive to resolve realistically.”

The Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, citing statistics, invited the audience to visit the English version of the Vice Presidency’s website adding that a report on the situation of Iranian women under the title of “40×40” has been prepared.

“It represents an objective picture and can be a tool for planners and decision-makers to solve problems.”

For example, the literacy rate of women has increased from 34% in 1976 to 89% in 2019, while about 38% of Iranian girls have been deprived of attending schools in 1976, the number is 3% at the moment, she continued.

“There has also been a trend in women’s educational attainment, which in recent years has shown a 60-to-40 increase in the ratio of girls and boys entrance to universities. Needless to say, Iran has hosted nearly three million refugees over the past four decades providing good-quality services at a time when the country has been subjected to cruel sanctions by the international community.”

The Vice President noted that legal reforms to improve the status of women in the country after the Islamic Revolution, has always been considered. “For example, in the last two years, six bills have been drafted and submitted to the government.”

These include granting citizenship rights to offspring of Iranian mothers married to foreign men that have been approved and is in effect.

“The Bill on the Safety of Women against Violence has also been seriously pursued and is now in its final stages, with the establishment of an easy-to-dial-up social emergency centre in the country for everyone to intervene in family conflicts,” stated Ebtekar.

‘CIA-Linked Elements Involved in Iran Riots Arrested’

The Public Relations Department of Iran’s Intelligence Ministry released a statement on Wednesday regarding this issue:

“These elements, which had been trained in various countries for a long time with funds provided by the US intelligence service had gathered information as citizen journalists. However, following the riots, it became clear that they had orders to attend protests and to report the details exactly in videos.”

Six of these people were arrested during riots while executing intelligence service orders. Two others, who attempted to collect and transfer the information abroad, were identified and arrested before leaving the country, reads the statement.

The Director General of Iranian Intelligence Ministry’s Counter-Espionage Department also touched upon the vigilance of the ministry’s staff in protecting the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that other people affiliated with the network are being monitored nationwide and in any event contrary to the national security of the Islamic Republic, they will be subject to judicial and security procedures.

Iran Condemns Attack on Its Consulate in Iraq’s Najaf

In a Thursday statement, Mousavi expressed hatred for rioters’ storming of the consulate building, calling on the Iraqi government to deal with perpetrators of the attack responsibly, firmly and effectively.

He decried the attack and reminded Baghdad of its responsibility to protect diplomatic sites as well as diplomats.

“Iran’s strong note of protest was officially conveyed to the Iraqi ambassador to Tehran,” he said.

Rioters swarmed Iran’s consulate in Najaf late Wednesday. The masked assailants had also attacked Iranian consulates in the Iraqi cities of Karbala and Basra before. The incident prompted a curfew in the city and the closure of government offices there for Thursday.

The assailants who swarmed the building Wednesday evening had already attacked offices of parties and political groups as well as government institutions in Iraq.

Clashes erupted between rioters and riot police deployed to the scene to protect the Iranian Consulate, report Iraqi media.

Some reports released in recent weeks suggest the rioters had received considerable amounts of money from some Persian Gulf Arab countries. They had already attempted to attack Iranian consulates in the Iraqi cities of Karbala and Basra.

Security officials in Najaf Governorate say a curfew has been put in place in the city of Najaf until further notice. The Najaf governor has also ordered all government offices in the city to remain closed for Thursday.

The staff of the Iranian consulate had been evacuated under heavy police protection just before the incident.

‘US Ambushing Iran like Hungry Wolf Looking for Prey’

Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh said on Wednesday among Washington’s tactics is to use fifth column elements and infiltrators to deal a blow to Iran.

“As of the beginning of this year, America’s sabre-rattling began to increase, and John Bolton spoke of a military attack and dispatching aircraft carriers to the Persian Gulf,” said General Hajizadeh, the commander of the Aerospace Division of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

“The issue of economic pressure on the [Iranian] people and the spectre of war prompted some [Iranian] officials to stress the need for talks. The Supreme Leader also said he was dismayed at authorities’ inaction in the face of back-to-back economic blows dealt to us by the enemy,” added the general.

“With the Supreme Leader’s firm decision, resistance became a cornerstone of the Establishment’s fundamental policy, and we saw that the enemy was cornered in recent months with hands up,” he said.

He noted the United States’ talk of military action against Iran was “hollow and worthless.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, he touched upon the recent unrest in the country where rioters seized the opportunity to cause chaos. The top general praised people for remaining vigilant and prudently neutralizing the “sedition.”

“When the Americans say all options are on the table, that means they would use all their potential and facilities to bear animosity towards, and deal a blow to Iran,” he said.

The top general underlined that the United States is turning to “soft war” to harm Iran, saying the enemy left no ploy unused to deal blows to Iran on political and economic fronts.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the top general said Iran is among the top countries in the region in the domain of defense, adding the military relies on domestically-developed technologies to build equipment.

He said the IRGC took heed of the advice by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who stressed the importance of high-precision missiles.

The top commander said the precision of Iran’s missiles became evident when Iran hit ISIS terrorists at a home in Iraq.

He said it would be wrong to rely on enemy to solve problems in the country, and it would be a mirage to think the US can resolve Iran’s economic problems.

The senior general also said the military option and threat of war are no longer effective, and that Iran is now well aware of Washington true intention, i.e., seeking to create insecurity in the country.
