Iranian Firm to Produce 90 Tonnes of Disinfectants Each Day to Counter Coronavirus

The CEO of Behshahr Industrial Group stressed that currently the daily production capacity of the company is 80 tonnes and it can be increased to 90 tonnes if the needed alcohol is procured promptly.

After the outbreak of coronavirus in Iran many supermarkets and pharmacies have run out of disinfectant gels and liquids.

Iran’s defence ministry has begun to produce 20,000 litres of disinfectants and 20,000 protective face masks per day to counter the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Sayyari said parts of Besat, Golestan, and Hajar Hospitals are fully in control of the Health Ministry to give service to coronavirus patients.

Regarding the health status of the garrisons he said the condition is even better than that of people’s homes, and there is more control in these environments.

“The bio-defence headquarters is formed in the army and to date we have had no problems or suspicious cases in the army barracks and organizations. The health of our soldiers and army personnel is very important to us,” underlined Sayyari.

IRGC Vows Unwavering Support in War against Coronavirus

In a statement on Sunday, the IRGC said it has always stood by the Iranian nation at the time of disasters, such as earthquakes and floods, stressing that in efforts to contain the virus, it has relied on the experience of addressing threats during the Iraqi imposed war in the 1980s, such as countering microbial and chemical attacks.

The statement said the IRGC has been working in close coordination with the Iranian Health Ministry since the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country, and is fully prepared for any more cooperation with the country’s health sector in the battle with COVID-19.

The IRGC has prepared hospitals and medical centers, begun disinfection operations, and supplied the necessary medical equipment in the efforts to contain the coronavirus, the statement added, giving an assurance that the IRGC and the Basij forces will be prepared to work hard and cooperate with the other sectors until the coronavirus is fully contained and the situation returns to normal.

The statement also denounced the psychological war and media campaign launched by the enemies with the purpose of downplaying Iran’s medical capabilities, saying the international organizations such as the World Health Organization have acknowledged Iran’s knowledge, capabilities, and sufficient capacities for the fight against the coronavirus.

According to Iran’s Health Ministry, the number of people who have died from the coronavirus in the country has risen to 43 and the total number of confirmed cases to 593.

300,000 Teams to Go Door to Door to Find Iranian People with Coronavirus

Saeid Namaki said for the first time in the world, health teams will go to people’s homes instead of waiting for patients to come to the clinics.

If this is properly managed, it can be said that there has been a major development in the country’s healthcare to the extent that it could be a model for other countries who are struggling against coronavirus, he noted.

According to Namaki, Basij forces will also be used in this national plan. The Ministry of Health and Basij have previously collaborated on polio eradication and blood pressure control projects.

If coronavirus patients are diagnosed in the early stages of the disease, their treatment will be much better and faster, thus the mortality rate of the virus will be reduced, he added.

The health minister said these 300,000 teams are equipped with all diagnostic equipment.

During this national campaign, every team will visit about 270 Iranians, which is quite reasonable.

Medical universities across the country are to conduct this major national plan.

Iran’s health ministry on Sunday raised the nationwide death toll from the new coronavirus to 54 as the number of confirmed infected cases jumped to 978 people.

The ministry’s spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said new cases were confirmed in a number of cities, including Mashhad, which is home to Iran’s most important Shiite shrine that attracts pilgrims from across the region.

Of the 385 newly confirmed cases, 170 are in Tehran, where schools and cinemas have remained closed for the second week. Public buses and the metro are still operating, but are being disinfected daily there. Authorities also doused busy streets in the capital.

Issue of Idlib Must be Resolved Diplomatically: Rouhani to Erdogan

In a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart on Saturday, Rouhani said the issue of Idlib has to be resolved through diplomacy.

He said the current situation in Idlib is very complicated given the fact that civilians have to be protected there, while the foreign-backed terrorists must be eliminated from the area.

The Iranian president noted that Syria’s sovereignty has to be respected in accordance with the Astana peace process. He suggested that a trilateral meeting between Iran, Russia and Turkey could help de-escalate tensions.

For his part, Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated Iran’s significant role in resolving the Syrian crisis, saying political dialogue is the only way to resolve tensions.

Referring to the recent developments in Syria, the Turkish president said the situation in Idlib cannot be tolerated anymore and Ankara is worried about the results of the Astana process.

Tensions surged in Idlib, the last major terrorist stronghold in the war-torn country, on Thursday after dozens of Turkish soldiers were killed in an airstrike by Syrian forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the targeted Turkish troops were among terrorists.

On Friday, Ankara, which backs anti-Damascus militants, claimed that it had hit 200 Syrian government targets.

Rouhani made the remarks in a Saturday phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

He said as it has been emphasised for many times that the Syrian crisis can only be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.

He described the situation in Idlib as worrying and said the Astana Process agreements must be implemented as soon as possible in order to eradicate terrorism and bring back calm to the region.

“We must not allow the conditions in Idlib to become a pretext for the US intervention,” reiterated Rouhani.

The president announced readiness to host the trilateral summit of Iran, Russia and Turkey.

“In recent years, with the cooperation of Iran, Russia and Syria, great steps have been taken in the fight against terrorism, and its results must be preserved,” underlined Iran’s president.

On the issue of Idlib, we are totally prepared to broker an agreement at political and security levels, agreed upon by the three countries, he added.

Referring to recent developments regarding the nuclear deal, Rouhani appreciated Moscow’s stance on the JCPOA, saying as long as Iran enjoys the benefits of this agreement, it will honour its commitments.

He also expressed hope that the agreement will be preserved with the cooperation of the other parties.

For his part, the Russian president expressed sympathy over the deaths of a number of people in Iran as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Putin welcomed the Iranian president’s proposal to implement the health protocol promptly saying that Moscow is ready to cooperate with Tehran in the fight against coronavirus.

The Russian president called the agreements reached in the Astana process very effective in resolving the Syrian issue, adding that the creation of de-escalation zones should not be considered as a halt in fight against terrorism, and Russia hopes coordination will continue in the future.

Putin went on to highlight the significance of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity, stressing it is the Syrian government’s right to fight against terrorists on its territory .

The Russian president also welcomed Iran’s readiness to host the upcoming trilateral summit of the three countries within the framework of the Astana Process, expressing hope that differences will be resolved through talks quickly.
