Saudi King Either Dead or On His Deathbed: Whistleblower

Salman of Saudi Arabia - Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud

In a post on his Twitter account on Saturday, Mujtahid, the Twitter handle of a pseudonymous activist, said King Salman is either dead or at death’s door.

He explained that tens of people from the royal family have been detained, not only Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, a brother of King Salman, and the monarch’s nephew Prince Mohammed bin Nayef.

The court staff, the royal palace personnel, and the royal guard members have been told that visiting the king is impossible due to his health conditions, Mujtahid noted.

The whistleblower also noted that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is going to issue a statement on behalf of his father to declare the king’s abdication.

The statement is expected to declare Mohammed bin Salman as the king’s successor, he noted, adding, “What has happened to the king? We will announce soon.”

Citing unnamed sources, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz al-Saud and Prince Mohammed bin Nayef have been taken from their homes early on Friday by royal guards after being accused of treason.

The pair were allegedly plotting to oust King Salman and the son he has designated to succeed him, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The New York Times also reported the detentions, adding that Prince Nayef’s younger brother Prince Nawaf bin Nayef had also been detained.

Update: Saudi Arabia later released images of King Salman carrying out his royal duties on Sunday, dismissing rumours of his death.

Sanctions More Dangerous than Coronavirus: Iran’s Shamkhani

Sanctions More Dangerous than Coronavirus: Iran’s Shamkhani

“The virus of sanctions and non-commitment to promises is threatening international security more than the coronavirus,” Ali Shamkhani said on his Twitter account on Saturday.

“The US claim that it is ready to help Iran can only be verified through the country’s implementation of its legal obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA),” he added in his tweet.

Last week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said his country had offered Iran assistance in the fight against the coronavirus.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi, in a statement last Saturday, dismissed Pompeo’s remarks as hypocritical and deceitful propaganda.

The remarks came as Iran’s administration on Thursday extended the closure of all schools and universities nationwide until the end of the current Iranian year (March 19) as the country is struggling with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

Iran’s Health Ministry announced on Saturday that the number of people who have died from the coronavirus in the country has risen to 145 and the total number of confirmed cases to 5,823.

At least 1,669 people have recovered from the disease in the country so far.

What You Need to Know About Hiring Car Accident Lawyer

Several times, most victims do not get the needed compensation they deserve as the insurance companies involved avoid settling their injury claims. In this article, we will discuss situations where you need an accident lawyer and where you don’t.

Accidents That Don’t Require a Lawyer
There are situations whereby the settlement of a car accident is of a very small amount; hence, a lawyer may not be of help to the victim. The following scenarios do not require you seeing a car accident lawyer:
● You may not require the help of an accident lawyer if the injury sustained is minor. This could be a mild whiplash.
● There will be no need to contact an accident lawyer if the injury does not need expensive medical examinations or a specialist doctor.
● In a situation whereby you have fully recovered from the injury sustained.
Having a car accident lawyer may help you get injury claims, but the amount received may not be too different from that you will get on your own to cover the medical expenses; hence, it may not be worth your time. However, even though the injury is minor, you may need to get a free opinion from a car accident attorney before making a decision.

Accidents That Require Intervention of a Lawyer
Unlike the scenarios stated above, there are situations where you really need the assistance of a car accident attorney. These situations and also the help of a car accident lawyer will help you get a better settlement. Whereby the insurance company refuses to pay you for claims, a lawsuit can be filed against such a company. The following are cases where a lawyer can be contacted:
● You need a lawyer if the injury sustained in an accident is severe. This type of injury requires more money to treat; hence the claims will be significant. Some insurance company may have issues setting the accident victim due to the amount involved, forcing such an individual to settle for less. The injury sustained may not need surgery or operation to be considered as being serious.

Serious injuries can be in the form of a broken bone and other injuries that cause pain and require long-term treatment.

● Another situation where you will need the help of a lawyer is if you are not certain how severe your injury is. This can occur when you feel pains for a very long time and the treatments received are ineffective. You may end up questioning your state of improvement and at that point need to contact a car accident lawyer. With the help of the lawyer, a medical specialist can be contacted to examine your health status. That will help determine how grave the injury is, after which, the insurance company will be contacted to settle your financial claims.
Other situations include:
● If you are not able to personally meet up with the medical expenses.
● Whereby your work life is being affected.
● If the insurance company representing the other party puts the blame on you.
● In the event where the company underrates the gravity of your injury.
With these points discussed, you can find out where you stand in getting a car accident attorney. If you would like to get in touch with a lawyer that will help you claim your accident injuries, please visit this link: auto accident attorneys in San Diego.

Iran Says OPEC’s Friday Meeting among Its ‘Worst Ever’

Bijan Namdar Zangeneh

“This OPEC summit was among the worst meetings I have ever seen during the history of this organization,” Zanegneh told reporters on Friday.

“It was a pretty difficult session which had almost no outcome,” he added.

Zangeneh whose country is a member of OPEC but exempted from any oil curbs, said the summit failed due to disagreements specifically between Saudi Arabia and Russia.

“Six hours of private negotiations took place but Russia and Saudi Arabia weren’t able to reach a conclusion,” he said.

“Certain members of OPEC insisted that non-OPEC members had to participate in the oil production cuts, which they, in return, did not accept,” he added.

Zangeneh stressed that parties participating in the negotiations should be flexible, adding that “otherwise everyone will face negative consequences”.

The Iranian minister stressed that oil cuts previously agreed to by OPEC members had also not been extended due to the failure of the session.

Zangeneh said holding another meeting soon between OPEC and non-OPEC members will be difficult because of coronavirus health concerns but agreements can be reached by videoconference.

OPEC, Russia and other producers, a group known as OPEC+, failed to agree on purposed oil cuts on Friday.

The proposal sought an additional 1.5 million barrels per day (bpd) of oil cuts until the end of 2020 to adjust crude prices to falling international energy demands following the global coronavirus outbreak.

Russia, a non-OPEC member, however, argued that it was too early to predict the impact of the outbreak.

Iran Calls Off Kurdistan Int’l Nowruz Celebrations over COVID-19

Iran Calls Off Kurdistan Int’l Nowruz Celebrations over COVID-19

The Nowruz festival was going to be held in the provincial capital Sanandaj as of Friday March 13.

Kurdistan Governor Bahman Moradnia has told IRNA that Iran was designated by UNESCO as the secretariat of the celebration, and it was planned to hold an international celebration of Nowruz from March 13 to 15 with guests from the countries of Nowruz and other ambassadors.

“Preparations for the celebration had been made in the past few months and arrangements had been made for the presence of representatives of Nowruz countries in cooperation with the ministry of cultural heritage, tourism and handicraft as well as the foreign ministry,” he added.

Noting that Sanandaj was registered by the UNESCO as a creative city of music in the world, he stressed that representatives of creative cities of music registered in UNESCO were expected to attend the celebration, but because of the spread of coronavirus in the country the ceremony was cancelled.

Nowruz celebrations is of great account among the people of Kurdistan province. Last year, the festival was held with the participation of national and provincial officials. Around 20 to 22 thousand people from different parts of the country gathered in the Golan Stadium in Sanandaj.

The historical background of the Nowruz celebration and the interest of people led the provincial authorities to decide to hold the international Nowruz celebrations, but the outbreak of the coronavirus cancelled the event.

Zarif Raps World’s Silence over US ‘Medical Terrorism’ against Iran

Iranian People to Survive Latest of US Cruelties: Zarif

“Trump is maliciously tightening US’ illegal sanctions with aim of draining Iran’s resources needed in the fight against COVID-19, while our citizens are dying from it,” Zarif said in a post in his Twitter account on Saturday.

“The world can no longer be silent as US Economic Terrorism is supplanted by its Medical Terrorism,” he added.

US President Donald Trump said last Saturday his country was willing to aid Iran with its coronavirus outbreak, adding that “all they have to do is ask,” just after he authorized the expansion of travel restrictions against Iran.

However, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the offer was insincere, adding Washington had better first lift its sanctions on medical supplies to Iran if it really sought to help the Islamic Republic.

While Trump apparently offers help to Iran, a group with close ties to him is pressuring pharmaceutical companies not to sell drugs to Tehran.

The pro-Israel United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) is urging major pharmaceutical companies to “end their Iran business”, The Intercept reported.

The targeted companies include Bayer, Merck, Pfizer, Genzyme, AirSep, Medrad, Becton, Dickinson & Company, Eli Lilly, and Abbott Laboratories, it said.

The pressure group is carrying on with its campaign targeting medical trade with Iran amid a massive outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country, whose access to medicine has already been hampered by the cruel U.S. sanctions.

President Rouhani Urges People to Avoid Unnecessary Trips

Regretting the people’s failure to comply with some of the recommendations made by the National Headquarters of Fight against Coronavirus, Rouhani said on Saturday, “The key to success in controlling the Coronavirus in the short-term program is the full cooperation of the people and executives with the National Headquarters.”

“Transparency and enhancing public trust as well as keeping people informed about trends, opportunities, policies and planning is crucial in the fight against the Coronavirus,” underlined Rouhani, speaking at a meeting of the Headquarters.

The president also hailed the growing increase in number of laboratories and their equipment, adding that according to the statistics and information provided by different provinces, the number of laboratories should be expanded.

Rouhani also criticized lack of easy access to sanitation and disinfection, urging the Ministry of Health to come up with a well-timed plan to address the problem.

It seems the move is to encourage people to avoid commuting and spend more time at home.
